Serious question: How do those of you who support the Monero project, i.e. want it to succeed, justify selling moneroj at this embryonic stage of the ecosystem's development? Doesn't selling moneroj weaken the Monero project by demoralizing and disincentivizing the entire ecosystem?

I'm not judging anyone here, just curious how traders who are also supporters of the Monero project (and not just profiteers) think. I'm a hodler by temperament.

I don't sell Monero, I spend it. Of course I have a holding stash and a spending stash, you might say. It makes me feel good to do at least one Monero transaction per day. Buying, selling, just keep the funds moving! Using Monero is what makes the economy grow. It's fantastic.

I am curious to know what are you buying with Monero?

In the last week I bought: Beer, food, petrol, tobacco, great bread. All with Monero albeit indirect. I hope to laugh about the 1000 dollar beer i bought in late 2016 soon ...(tm)

I suppose I'm not necessarily buying things every single day, but 1-5 times a week would be more like it.

Often the occasional purchase on Amazon via Purse.io (you can get 10%-15% discounts reliably on your orders).

I keep a significant portion of my income coming in as BTC (via Bitwage), so for various bills that require fiat payment only, I can cashout quickly via the Bitpay visa.

Yes, one could nitpick and say I am not really using XMR because I'm using a third-party (XMR.to or Shapeshift) to convert XMR->BTC, but I would disagree. If someone buys something with Paypal or just uses their debit/credit card, would they not be using fiat because it's going through a third party?

As more directly accepting XMR merchants appear, I'll be happy to support them.

Umm... point is, anything you can pay for with bitcoin you can buy with Monero using XMR.TO

So it's kind of a meaningless question, really: the answer is pretty much "anything you want"

Okay, LOL... so adjust my point to say generally "so long as XMR.TO is actually working as intended"  Tongue

Yeah, nobody's gonna buy a luxury yacht anytime soon with Monero, LOL.

Anyway I'm HODL'ing until some day when we'll be able to buy that luxury yacht with just one or two XMR  Grin

Every time retard TC appears and starts his shit talk about "XMR soon 100, 1000,10000$" the price drops and people are running to BTC. Every time he just shuts up the price is rising. I guess it's always a bad sign TrueCryptionare appears. Investors are loosing confidence when crazy people come and talk. TC you hyped zcash so much. Best and most professional Team you said. Soon official currency in the world. Please just stick to zcash. Since you hyped it, it lost value. You are a curse for every crypto

Not yet bought any since the price is still high. I might consider buying some at 0.001-0.002 but not for more than that. I did bought initially into XMR for 0.004 and regretted later when the price dropped to 0.001 due to Bitcoinexpress attack.

Is this our final capitulation as it was expected.... Or just the BTC spike to 730-ish?

Has no one noticed the drop under 0.01 and 0.009 already under assault as I type?

Volume not massive but high enough...

I hope you have your buys set, Ladies and Gentlemen?

Anyone recall how alts did during the last major Bitcoin rally years ago? Specifically, did they start to rise as along with Bitcoin as part of the blockchain awareness wave grew?

I know Litecoin moved in tandem with Bitcoin, just don't remember if others eventually did too.

Initially as bitcoin rose, all alts fell until a breaking point where all alts shot up.

Not sure if this time around it will be the same thing. Who knows.
