Long term holders have nothing to complain about.

I disagree with this, infact I'd say its long term holders who are most effected.  We're the ones whose capital has been tied up because we believe in the project/technology.   We have waited through the good times and bad.  But apparently thats not enough, we also have to tie ourselves in knots with this sort of cretinish behaviour.

Is it any wonder regulators and the like want to stamp down on crypto, we hardly provide a strong argument for self-regulation nevermind laissez faire.
Just a quick note that you misquoted me.  Perhaps you could fix it?  In the post you quoted I said something to the opposite effect.

"Your bitcoin is secured in a way that is physically impossible for others to access, no matter for what reason, no matter how good the excuse, no matter a majority of miners, no matter what." -- Greg Maxwell

What did Fluffy do exactly?

He promised a big news and delivered it. He did exactly what he promised.

what you mean? there is something wrong in code? You send 10 XMR and receiver get only 9?  I see Monero fully trustful, at least when I least used it.

But FluffyPony send you a message yesterday. Go read it please. I suggest you to use it when looking at other "crypto" also. Oh here it is, so you dont search much for it.

A while ago I read someone said, very pithy, "Bitcoin Runs On Drama But Monero Runs On Comedy" Cheesy

After this last 'joke' by FluffyPony's fallen so flat, looks like we're gonna see how well (or poorly) Monero runs on DRAMA for awhile.

Srsly never a dull moment in cryptoland  Cheesy

@supremnoob  I said read it.  Not write here things you think are true. Read. there are answers on many your questions and assumptions.

OK let me take it out from text what answer your most recent question.

Monero dont do announcements, like other pump and dump coins does daily.  Usually it is said, things will get here SoonTM  But since project is open source, you can just go to github and you see exactly when something will happen. But for that you need to spend 10 minutes of your time and people here are just to lazy for that.

It's foolish and reckless, and possibly gives ammo to the trolls, yes.  But from the guy who says 'Don't buy Monero' it is probably to be expected and since I really do believe he profited in any way - at least he hasn't sold his soul.

We should have known he wasn't the type to tweet an 'upcoming announcement' and he probably shouldn't have done it.

But it does make Monero a little different and it does teach us not to worship 'the great leader'.  He isn't working for the price, he is working for the project and is not bound to please anyone.  So we must bear in mind we cannot expect anything different in future

But... he likes being worshipped. My twitter feed is always full tweets by people worshipping him which he retweeted. And it's some of the biggest worshippers (WhalePanda for example) who benefitted from this because they had insider knowledge. So it was not his intent to change that, that's for sure.

Back to $50 Grin

Nah, just Bitcoin price increasing.

I retract what I said yesterday about price recovering quickly. I didn't think much about the effects this would have except very shortterm. And if the altcoin bubble bursts, which can be any moment if it didn't happen already. This one is going down like all the rest.

Yes - he clearly had no reason to make a lot of money in a very short time.

You feel entitled, and that's why Fluffypony had to tie you to a stake and burn you to a crisp.  A sacrifice, if you will, to the Goddess of Chaos and Irrational Exuberance (ie Hubris).

Monero obviously isn't for you. Dash, which it's emphasis on marketing and paucity of technology, seems a better fit.  Smiley

If Fluffy and the rest of the team despises speculators then why can't they just work under the radar and let the technology speak for itself instead of constantly yacking on twitter and btctalk? There are LOTS of coins being developed that aren't being hyped and the devs aren't showman and because of it the price remains stable.

You are right and I remember it well, but the flaw in this analogy was that he wasn't saying Monero is crap and patently he doesn't (and we don't) think so.  He was saying the likes of 'forthcoming announcements' (rather than working on good tech) is just crap - and to not expect this from him.

I get it, though I grant you that he could have made the point some other way given that hundreds of millions of dollars are involved.

Could he have though? I've seen this sentiment a lot since the troll job went down, but what evidence is there to support it?

He's said since day 1 that markets are irrational and don't get caught up in the pumpers games. To trust the tech not the personalities.

And yet still people are just here to ride the pumps. They don't care about the fundamentals. As evidenced by his "troll". If he could have gotten his message across some other way, well then this pump wouldn't have been as crazy as it was. By the very act that it happened it proves that this was the only way to really make his point.

A cryptocurrencies value is not in the personalities behind it. It is not in the pump potential. It is in the tech, plain and simple. People can be coerced, they can be manipulative, but the code doesn't lie.

If I owned a DM site, I'd pick the most private, untraceable, fungible coin available that doesn't require me to trust the developers, whether that means a trusted setup or the trolling/hype of developers. Put it this way: I'd risk my life only on the best tech, and that's Monero.

Zcash may have many "professionals," but you have to trust them. I'd rather trust only verifiable source code and math, as is the case in Monero. Plus, now that Zcash is in bed with JPMorgan, I don't see how anyone can trust them.

FWIW, the price has recovered. That does not surprize me at all because Monero has always been focused on the tech, not hype. People not only want but need true fungibility. That's demand, and that's why the price will continue to be good. People can trust that it's 100% about the tech and not about hype or corporate partnerships. The price will follow that.
