So, I´m pretty ignorant in technological terms. So when i´m trying to solve the problem. Best tech for privacy? despite the obvious "its monero of course" is there a good source where i can try to read the basics about blockchain privacy. Like BC privacy for dummies?  I was reading a white paper for a service that stated " we use the best privacy tech in the industry, developed by the zcash team". There were some posts comparing few coins that should have best privacy. Obviously they are rescanning the chain with new software. Given the number of xns which are directly relevant to their accounts, and the amount of cross-checking and validation they have to do, I would be surprised if they finished by Monday.
Understandable delay IF that is what is actually going on at Poloniex... but would just be *nice* if they could SAY SO and simply let everyone know! It's seriously annoying to be made to wait so long to do a withdrawal without any expected ETA at all. I give Polo a lot of leeway for what they do (generally pretty well managed) and what they're up against (a shitload, clearly) but this time I'm pretty annoyed  |

I am not aware of any specific reason why they would not be able to operate from their old chain db while waiting for the new scan to finish, but my surmise is that they want to perform their own iteration of the checks (already done by the core.team) to insure that there are.no.double spends on the chain as a result of the (now.fixed) small subgroup bug.

As i posted here few days was 11 coins withdrawals stopped. There is not a moment in time when Poloniex dont have one con withdrawals and deposits stopped. If they would announce all that announcement board would e spammed with only this. Usually they dont know till when it will be disabled, so nothing really to announce. When you go to withdrawal page you see all coins that you cant withdraw or deposit. So unless you withdrew right before withdrawals was disabled you just cant do anything wrong since you cant withdraw. |

Poloniex is updating their wallets. They do this periodically with every single coin. There is not a moment when one of coins is not under this maintenance. |

WTF) and that may get the fringe lunies in and thats a good thing for them as it will give them the privy they desire (all the hate groups and home grown ...) and it should help XMR grow but those are the last fuckers I want to see in these threads and it will only make TPTB more concerned about XMR so it is a double edged sword. At least the Tard admitted he is giving Crypto advice now because he was a horrible Silver forecaster. It's possible their code broke and they are sending out double transactions so I see no problem here as far as XMR goes. |

Mine shows up in their ledger as the wrong price and they will say it is what I sold it for but it is not. If they were honest with us they would look at the selling price at the time of the transaction and could see, at least in my case, the price it that was sold to me for was wrong. Don't want to get off topic with this but beware of Polo because something is broken. |

I sense a lot of FUD today so price raise could happen soon. On other hand I heard things like this on IRC: <Scritch> Hi =) It was suggested that I come and introduce myself - I'm Scritch, and I've been a programmer for almost 30 years. Have been out of the craft for the last 3 or so while recovering from life stuff - but I'm looking to get back into it, and figured I'd start by volunteering my services here. =) <Scritch> just uh, not really sure where to begin =P Development gives a shit for price and what anyone says. Monero is just getting more and more developers daily. And getting stronger at where most matter. As in that Ratatosk video was mention, at mechanic side. |

And right now, these prices look like a bargain so, we'll set our bids somewhere below the current price and wait for others to dump into them. It seems to work most of the time. Edit: I know I've picked up a few hundred more over the last day or so. |

I've been buying what little I could on the downward trek and used that to put a long in this morning so I obviously expect a breakout soon. I thought today but it got suppressed and looks like there is accumulation going on with the whales. Which of course is a bullish sign. But I'm not giving buying advice, I only do that when I'm 99% sure and even though I am long right now I will not be surprised if it's a prop up and dump going on. This market gets harder and harder to figure out. |

"Buy the rumor, sell the news" is the venerable market truism. I hope to catch some falling knives tomorrow evening.
And I did, substantially increasing my monero stocks - although it took more than a single evening to reach my buy point, and I quickly recycled those gains into fresh powder, for the coming lows. I have some hope to catch the last few knives of the season again tonight... Well I am all in again, so I could not care less what the price does until the next ATH. Prices in the 016s seem unlikely to come again, ever. I could not leave anything unmopped on the floor, so long as I could wring out another drop. Sometimes you are in sync with the market and sometimes you aren't. Lately I have been fortunate in this regard. I found the inability to withdraw xmr from poloniex to be a great opportunity, while it lasted. It still persists but I think the resulting lows are already in. Scenarios are roughly 10x overweighted to the upside from here. Enough x's so that I gave up counting, at least. When the window finally opens, these are the next coins going into long-term cold storage. Ka-freakkin-ching. Obviously they are rescanning the chain with new software.
