Reasonably decent looking bull flag formation on Monero 1hr.

If BTC can continue its rally/deadcat(?) then I would not be surprised to see XMR take another leg up too.

Tech improvements never boosted Monero google searches. Adoption does. Also Monero is Latin American name. So that had quite impact on goggle searches in past. Also 2017 was more year of asset platforms and ICOs and security and utility tokens then crypto currencies.

Why did he stop the comparison with XMR and BTC? What are the other top 15's results for the same time frame? What about the other "privacy" coins? Is there any demographic information to go along with what he provided?

Just seems a stretch to believe his assumptions based on so little information. But hey, it seemed sciency for reddit.

Thoughts?

Over 13% against fiat today, and rising against BTC too.  So not really worried.

Yes, many still support fiat, so not much change with the emergence and development of such projects. Very many states will be able to ban a lot because it adversely affects the banking systems.

The 'legacy' banking system, you mean.  And now XMR is up 17% in fiat terms in 24 hours.

So, frankly... You seem to be missing the point.  I mean; 'development' - where have you been..?

So we reached bottom earlier this week?   We cant say the time or price was not right. Both were similar compared to previous Bitcoin cycle. We are 12 months after the ATH and price of Bitcoin decreased for 84%. I know it will take half year or more to know for sure but still this could be it.

I know i mainly talk about Bitcoin, but that then means also we could not see Moreno under $40 again.

Who else thinks we are about to see a shit show on Wall St. tomorrow?  Global tensions continue to rise with the recent "retirement" of MAD DAWG Mattis, Fed raising interest rates, raised deficits, possible govt. shutdown, banks continuing (as usual) sketchy high risk loans, etc etc.

I have a feeling we are about to start see a real 2008-esque recession that will last a good while... If that is true, it will be interesting to see if crypto continues to crash along side with it or not.

Usually I can tell how the crypto market is doing by looking at wall street, or vice versa, but the last two days is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cramer's telling people to buy gold, maybe they misheard him and think he said digital gold. Note: I think the concept of digital gold is inane and a proverbial moving of the goal post by maximalists who have thrown their hands in the air and stopped trying to be digital cash as was listed in the BTC whitepaper

Monero must have the higher price - this is my personal point of view. The altcoin is very safe, anonymous and pretty fast. It will be used for many years and it will survive even if the next bloodbath comes. In few years I think it can be in top-5!

Can the regs from this thread suggest which other alt besides XMR is (are) worth looking into?  And by that I mean a coin with good code/tech/devs that I can buy and forget in cold storage.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I mean what do you mean by "worth looking into" though?  Like obviously everyone is going to say this is the best privacy/fungibility/overall cryptocurrency project, but if you are looking at smart contract platforms, storage solutions, etc. I like to look at it in 3 ways:

1) Does it do something that previous coins simply aren't doing

2) Does it actually use the block chain to circumvent third parties/governement, or are just looking to use the blockchain for the sake of saying their project is "on the blockchain" to make it sound sexy.

3) Is the community actively engaged and actively developing

Example that I've seen recently where it seemed like a good idea to look into the project but I stepped back from it was looking into Cardano.  There are aparently a lot of really smart people working on it, and are some actual things they are doing that are a little differently than others, even though I didn't believe it would work, I was intrigued about this new PoS system called ouroboros but didn't get that far into looking into it....

Primarily because I had remember seeing 1) They treat Charles Hoskinson as this genius/visionary/CEO type guy where if he goes down in some way, then the whole project would probably fall apart, and 2) I remember reading something along the lines of Hoskinson saying that he would be wanting to work with governments to get Cardano "approved"... idk I honestly don't really remember, but it was something that didn't sound like Cardano was planning to being very decentralized... the primary thing a blockchain is supposed to do.

PRIVATE AND NOT PREMINED: MONERO, AEON, KARBO

I like anonymous\fungible (call it how you like) coins. Ones that satisfy next conditions:
- no premine
- no shady history
- preferably launched before crazy ico era not for fast (if at all) profit
- not abandoned
- have devs that still active and update code
- overall just honest coins without whistles that's have one goal in mind - to be best electronic money

I started with Monero, than found out about Aeon and Karbo. And only other coin on my radar is Grin (not launched afaik).
If you know other fungible coins without premine e.t.c. please share.

Grin will have some hype and speculation around its launch, but it's dead on arrival. Their protocol name isn't the only thing derived from Harry Potter: their understanding of economics is also completely fictional.

Quote
We may not know ahead of time if action is foolish, but reality knows - Nassim Nicholas Taleb

They are virtue signalling with their emission schedule. Freicoin already tried this virtue signalling fictional economics nonsense. Grin is foolish, but their developers don't realize this. Reality knows and is about to show them.

Just downloaded Grin's white paper.  I can't believe I'm back to doing this...  Reading a white paper which I don't even get half of.  Lololol.  'Welcome back to 2013' I guess.

Anyway, back to XMR.

GRIN is no good? I’m also interested in this project, but don’t really know what to think of. Is it a competitor for Monero?
