Crap...just overclocking the two S7s to 750 didn't cause any heating or psu problems...but they must pull a significantly higher wattage at the wall than at 700M. That's because after a couple of hours running at 750 the mains blew again. One question...well, a two-part question that I'm sure at least a couple of you have considered. How many extra watts is that? Ie., that will tell me if it's going to be possible to shut off some other stuff to make up for it on an overnight run...I've looked around but not found any responses I think I trust...and my ammeter is dead. I'm just guessing an additional 150-160W each, or maybe 300-320W for both. I'd then (maybe) run them at 750 for perhaps 11-12 hrs after dark when there's no need for about 1000W of other "stuff", then back to 700 at daylight. Does that strategy make any sense for this pool? How would that affect the 5Nd algorithm? I was seeing an approximate 10% increase in hash rate at 750. I know...hey, humor me, OK? the best way to know it put a "killawatt" meter on the plugs. that will tell you live what the draw in amps and volts are. will also tell you other pieces of info some useful others not so much. you may be able to get away with either both at 725 or 1 at 700 and the other at 750. I used to play with my machines going up and down trying to get the most out of them. ended up always about the same avg hash rate, turn them up = avg 29.5, turn them down avg 29.5. ended up setting them all around the 718/725 range depending on the machine. found that 750+ was to many hw errors and I was just throwing away power/hash power to HW errors.

so it appears that the 1 fan units 100% is the true number . that is bad that you need to run at max speed (kills fan very fast)
humor me try 95% see if the fan gets to 5500 rpm and temps are equal to the 5880 rpm as weird as request is if you find 5500 rpm keeps you low enough .
You are really hot whats the room temp 35C or higher?
set the fan speed to 95%, it spin @ 5760rpm and the temp. of both 3 board didn't rise. i ordered extra fans but there is no place to mount at the rear panel of my S7. my place here near equator thus the temp 24'c (6am ) to 35'c (2pm) everyday.

Thanks for the reminder/note. That was a good guess for me...about 150W extra per box. When I'm running a 400W margin, that's enough to do the deed. I'd forgotten what that post had said...makes sense, too. I may try the "unload all the amps you can during nightime" tactic, just for kicks, for a couple of days and see what happens to my pool rate with that 10% day/nite fluctuation. OK...all pau (done).

The 5Nd, again, doesn't come into it. It's sole purpose is to reduce variance. If you mine n half the time and 1.1n the other half ... that's n/2 + 1.1n/2 = 2.1n/2 = 1.05n Yep simple maths. So you expect to get 1.05 times as much reward, on average.

Thank you for doing that. You have difficult conditions for mining. So the 95% will save a few watts and save the fans with no losing of cooling. Years ago I read a long white paper on fans and the cooling power they have. The most interesting thing I found was almost every example showed that 100% maxed fans don't cool better then fans in the 80 to 95 % setting. The friction of the wind reduces the cooling power vs rpm. A lot depends on heat sink. If it is tight and causes resistance faster fan speed becomes a loss. 5% is not much but it is something. I think they had a mounting plate on bitmaintech

Duh...of course you're right, Kimo Sabe...and I think I finally get the 5Nd thing (hey...I just taught stats...doesn't mean I like 'em or am even any good at it). Doesn't seem like going to the trouble of getting another 5% would be worth it...but it's something to do (retired...remember...) and a challenge, both of which I'm always up for. Thanks much for the help. Sometimes the simple solutions evade me.

Yeah the daily average blocks has dropped a little again since the hash rate is now staying around 30PH instead of 35PH If you want to convert the current hash rate to expected blocks you can go to my pool calculator and it will do that with the default settings. http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.phpIt grabs the current pool hash rate when you first visit the site, so just click on any input field and press Enter You'll see "Pool Average Blocks per Day:" which is currently ~3 Woo block.
