Kano?

how do i register on your site to start mining here?
ive been trying for months can you help me out?
or see if im registered yet?
thanks

Go to https://www.kano.is and register a username to mine with, by clicking on the Register/Reset button,
or mine directly to the pool without registering, using a bitcoin payment address as your username.
No password is required.

e.g.
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u Kano.worker -p x
 or
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb_worker -p x

If you have network issues using port 3333, you can also try:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum80.kano.is:80 -u Kano.worker -p x
 or
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum80.kano.is:80 -u 1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb_worker -p x

You can also try any of:
stratum+tcp://stratum81.kano.is:81
stratum+tcp://stratum443.kano.is:443
stratum+tcp://stratum8080.kano.is:8080

Your worker name can be whatever you choose and will be created when your miner connects to the pool.
Registered username or Bitcoin address, followed by a dot '.' or an underscore '_', followed by a worker name.

Anyone mining to the DE node, yes again linode has fuxored it.
Everyone will have failed over about 20 minutes ago.
Unfortunately it wasn't their usual fail for 30 seconds, the problem is still happening.

Anyone curious, yes I am working on a replacement for linode in EU.

Woo block!
Seems the DE node is back to life now.

Awesome about that block Smiley

Firstly, and most importantly, GLORYTrading found it.
Our luckiest miner on the pool and he's pushing the luck envelope even more!

Secondly, he normally mines on the DE node, but failed over to the main node and thus got a new worker connection with different work and thus found a block with that work!

Well done.

What just happened to the hash rate

Pool drops to 24
My hashrate takes a similar drop - yet still mining at same rate from my miner report and no issues - except suddenly a high stale rate.

Did we lose connectivity or relay or something?

I can only assume you were affected by whatever screwed up the DE node also.
When the DE node lost connection was when the hash rate dropped.
No problems from the SG or CN nodes.

I'm connected here

stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 (cos its the best ping)

do I get rerouted? I'm on a little island off the East coast of Aussie but SG is worse than the main connection.

Nothing to do with where your connecting to, it's where you are connecting from that would have caused it.
Your link must have gone through whatever messed up the DE link to the pool also.
i.e. the pool was fine, just some parts of the internet were affected connecting to the USA for almost half an hour.

A linode node I have in the USA couldn't talk to the DE linode for almost half an hour.
Of course the reverse was true - the DE node couldn't talk to the main pool node in the USA for half an hour.

The problem itself was some route out on the internet between DE and USA

I could be wrong - but

I believe that most of these NiceHash and WestHash rentals have been firing blanks.

When luck cuts out rentals - things improve.

Should this be correct:

- A lot of folk here have wasted a lot of BTC on rentals
- The hardware miners have been buggered on their 5N rewards

Have we got many blocks on rentals?
% wise via hash rate - dont mean to create any work - but maybe you have already done this analysis?

Cheers

No, that's what I'm working on ... as I mentioned earlier Smiley
They don't only fire blanks, but there certainly are some users that are rentals with below average 'luck'
But until I've done the full analysis (weeks away ...) I'll not know.
Since there really is a LOT of hashes from rentals (i.e. one source to check) it will be quite clear if the rental place is screwing with anything.

I stopped renting when we started having the back to back long blocks because it was draining my coins...but here on Kano I had 1 block with 42THs of real iron and then I rented 350THs from NH/WH for 2.5 months straight and hit 3 blocks with that.

Why is everyone so coy about stating what site is "bad" to rent from, and what sites are "good"?

Seems really childish.

I am a trusted trader!  Ask Inaba, Luo Demin, Vanderbleek, Sannyasi, Episking, Miner99er, Isepick, Amazingrando, Cablez, ColdHardMetal, Dextryn, MB300sd, Robocoder, gnar1ta$ and many others!

You take a chance with any rental gear no matter from which site you purchase it.  You as the person renting have absolutely no control over the underlying hardware, and both the rental sites, and the gear owners are getting paid no matter whether the gear can solve a block or not.  A caveat here is that MRR will indeed refund the customer should the gear rented not perform as advertised.

I don't know that it's coy, but rather that every rental site hides and protects bad actors by the very nature of the way the rental sites work.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Seems really childish.

Nicehash and Westhash are the only site I rent from.

The issue is a big guy like f2pool can point 5ph at nicehash from 5 locations   ask a lower price.

So they get rented and point to kano.is or mmpool.org or bravo-mining.com

All of the 5ph  tosses out  every hash over 200,000,000,000 current diff is 194,000,000,000

so if it hashes high enough to hit a block say 201b  it gets tossed.

Once in a blue moon it hits a block in that 194 b to 200b slot

More often or not when it has a good hash it is tossed.

So if 5ph points to a pool like bravo-mining  which only has 1ph of hard gear  luck can get killed off.
With kano.is luck can be dented

I emptied my nicehash wallet with that rental.  I had a cancel so I thought my wallet was empty I was mistaken but  now it is empty.

Reading the thoughts about rentals.
I begin to think that maybe Kano should forbid rentals ?
