I oc'ed my nine B1 s7's since day one, out of the nine B1's four can hold 675 with low error rates. The others I had to move them in increments until they would be stable, then when one would drop after a few days I would drop it a bit. With the temps rising I have had to adjust them occasionally, but I have been getting 46.5-48.3 from them since early October with no failures.
YMMV, so it's a simple matter of balancing temp/hw error rates and fiddling with them until they are balanced enough for your own tastes.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Mahalo for the info. Seems to be working just fine at 725 w/.0001% HW and boards at 60/60/64. Going to leave it there, I think, through the day tomorrow when temps go up here, and monitor. If I see it's stable for a couple of days I'll then maybe try the Batch 16...but it already runs 60/62/65 w/.0003% HW without any tweaking.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

those are solid numbers just watch for temps. as 64 is close to a safe max. do you have fans set to 65%? the newer batch has 1 fan so I would play with fan number's see what 55% = in rpm see what 60% = in rpm see what 65% = in rpm go up to 80% as I think 80% is the max fan speed not 100% (I don't have a 1 fan s-7 so I am not sure.) BTW I spent time in the USN 5 years 1978 to 1983

So far I've got both the 2-fan B12 and the 1-fan B16 running at 725 w/good hw numbers. The B16 is, of course, running slightly warmer but the boards are at 60/62/65 steady on it; the B12 is running 59/59/62. However, each machine has its own insulated forced air corridor on the rack; they each get around 2,500 cfm straight through, one fan pushing and one sucking to the outside. Works pretty well.

It is a sweet spot all fans have it and it depends on the fan and the heat sink pattern. If you can run the fan at 5500 rpm vs 5880 rpm and not overheat you will save some money.

Tested one of the S7 with 90% fan speed =5280rpm , the temp rise 2'c on each board, 72,72,76. when the fan run at max, the temp read 70,70,73. room temp = 35'c

Interesting discussion - anybody care to comment on this? I have always run my S7 B15's at Freq 750 Screenshot as an EG on Kano.is....... What is a good HW number - and what is not? Anything I can improve on here? Ambient 20DegC and going down hard. PSU Bitmain APW3-12-1600-B2 Power draw S7 plus PSU at board 1.47KW +/- Thanks usukan Interestingly they draw 1.47 KW at Freq 750 Dumb question, perhaps...but curious whether to try to bump the freq on my one Batch 12 S7 to maybe 725. The changes I made to the rack have both the units down by 10+C...and this one's running a consistent <=60C on all three boards. PSUs are 2KW split boxes (1KW ea) and up to it, I think.
Any educated guesses on what would happen? Worth the effort/risk? This box is off warranty.
Sure eventually there is a freq that is too high and the gear has more hw's so the freq setting makes you lose money. so 700 = .0001 hw + temps are low bump to 706 = .0010 hw temps go from 55 to 58 bump to 712 = .0025 hw temps go from 58 to 61 bump to 718 = .0050 hw temps go from 61 to 64 bump to 725 = .0250 hw hemps go from 64 to 67 too high drop to 718 this is a typical result. your top end will be 712, 718, 725, 731,737 just move your freq 6 at a time Hey...cool. Well worded and perfect sense. I'm willing to risk a bit on this box as I have another (B16) spare. Mahalo! (Thx) EDIT: Did that...running essentially cool and normal at 725. Watching it closely, though. It may be different when the ambient goes up. In my experience the determining factor in OC for antminers is HW and not temp. This has been true for me going back to S1. This assumes your PSU is more than up to whatever freq you set. It's normal to see temps rise with higher freq but I always hit an unacceptable HW rate before I hit an unacceptable temp.

Hopefully the delivery guy will ring me and the neighbours can take it.
Roll on sunday so I can catch up as i turned off my 4xS5...
