i took a gamble on a rental and it has paid off, and.... PS: sleep tight don't let the bedbugs bite Kano  As a lottery for the first Avalon6, I rented 200THs for 4 hours when the contest started on the 18th with no expectations of return...no dice on the Avalon6 as expected but a fun lottery to watch with an extra 200TH on the charts on top of my 24TH for 4 hours. But then I ended up with 6 shifts at the higher average and it paid 6 times. I ended up making a pretty bit of profit on that short rental unexpectedly! |

Exactly. As most people know there really is no expected return on a rental. You could start a rental right as we begin a 500% block... that will be a tough return. Over the long term it generally evens out, but a short term rental can be painful. |

You are absolutely right! That's why I limited it to 4 hours and intended to just give them my 0.2BTC outright for fun! It would have been a real hoot if it hit the Avalon but it was not to be... |

If we hit one more block before the contest starts tonight the Kano pool will have exactly double the number of blocks hit in December. We had 39 in December and we are at 77 right now for January...we have 8.5 hours to go for the Avalon6!

I am guessing it is an S5 that you have pointed my way and it is extremely gracious of you to give my hash rate a bump. Honestly just when I think the luck can't get any better we get another block!
I will say not having the block alerts is really confusing me lately lol. I didn't realize how much I have come to rely on those.

I think he posted that it was down for upgrades. Block Found Emails:
Hopefully we should be getting our block found emails again. When I switched to the new version of the site, I had made some changes to the code to start working with UTC timecodes like Kano does with the pool. So when we found a block the Monitor was storing the block in the database with a UTC timestamp, when a new block came in that was less than 5 hours later it would see the old block as newer than the newest block so it didn't think it was a new block, so no email. I think I have that straightened around now, but won't know until we get some more blocks. Grin
The good news to that is that I think I have everything switched over to UTC now and can start working on the options for people to show things in their timezone. |

Just grab the iPhone app from the App Store to supplement Zachs awesome monitor and email alerts. I didn't realize it was out till I saw a member mention it in this thread a few pages back.
