Will be some rolling updates of ckdb and ckpool urgently now.
ckdb first, no miners will be effected. This will be done as soon as the sena block shift is created (it was just created as I was typing this, so restart will be in a couple of minutes)
Then shortly after it will be a ckpool restart.
Sorry for the short notice but ram is becoming an issue again, so I need to push the ckdb restart. I was working on some new ckdb code but it's not ready yet, so will have to do this now rather than wait.
All done.

Bit of a problem with ckpool at the moment, I've just shut down all remote nodes DE, SG, JP I'll let everyone know when it's sorted and they are back online. The main mining node is OK

Everything fixed and back up. The remote nodes where offline, but the main node was OK, so hopefully everyone had a failover back to the main node.

All done. Ouch :p No idea what that is, but mining was OK for everyone non-stop except the remote nodes for 20 minutes. Look at the pool graph, that shows the hash rate NOT zero.

it is from https://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/ Right, and guess what, for 20 minutes (during the ckdb restart) he got no data ... meanwhile the pool was fine.

Someone posted a nice explanation on here, I cant find it though. I agree its not really clear for new users how it works, but you will get paid for every share you submit, just over a longer period of time. Can someone ELI5 this

X being 5nd. So if the time you mined for falls within the 5nd and a block is found then you get your share of the block. As soon as the period of time that mined falls outside the 5nd, you no longer get paid for your shares. So if you stop mining, you will still get paid for that last share for 5nd after you stop. The easiest way to "see" it is go to the "Shift Graph" on Kano.is and look at the shaded red area. That is the 5nd for the last block found. Any area in front (to the right) of that graph is new work that will be counted once a new block is found. Any area behind (to the left) of that graph is previous work outside the 5nd.

That's how PPLNS works, even at that 'other' pool. Just a different N value. Here N = 5Nd Here the payout variance will be a lot lower for 2 reasons: bigger pool and larger N. (and lower fees)

Kano, don't worry, the explanation of the Payouts under Help is actualy very ... well, helpful. When used with the shift graph its actually very easy to see how you hash rate will effect your payout for shares submitted. Take the time to read it folks.

Prices on nicehash have been low. .0041/.0042 Assuming no 300%+ blocks that would be a good return.
