Take it elsewhere, it's increasingly offtopic.
Kano has made comments on this subject. So... no off topic here. Anyways. Mine on. My whole point is we need to increase our pool hash rate. If wee do not. Then we will get less and less blocks with each diff increase. Which will probably be the demise of this pool. And I do not want to see that. We have more miners under 1 th than above 200 th.

In last last couple weeks there has been a R4, S9, A7 batch released. If your not increasing your hash rate. You are going backwards.
That's a funny one. You mean buying WAYYYYYYYY overprice gear => A7 Or just a 90 days warranty S9 with like 10% failure ? No thanks I own 17 S9 with 3 more on the way and have had 0% failure. well you're lucky as hell, just follow the bitmain thread. I personally asked a few person because I wanted to buy some and the answer is pretty much => worst ever miner they made so far. Most likely the same people that were cooking their miners by over clocking them to much. Funny how the complaints have gone down after the over clocking was taken away. Absolutely not Right. Because the majority of people in this world are truthful and trustworthy. Yup, they always admit to their own mistakes. Especially if its going to take money out of their pockets. Then its multiplied even more with the conspiracy theorist. And as we all know the world wide web is full of them. tournamentdan, many, many people have had issues with S9's. Myself included. I've had an I/O board replaced under warranty and am having issues with another controller acting flakey. No, no over-clocking involved. As a matter of fact,, they are all under-clocked right now by 25Mhz. Just because you have been lucky doesn't mean all of the other people with problems have been reckless. Consider yourself lucky and I hope your luck holds. We could use some of that around here. My .02. No such thing as luck. Anyways, mine on.

Ant poo finding dozens of blocks today - of course. But about half of them are 2.00kb blocks. I guess that is a pretty good example of mining 'empty' blocks. ^%$%^&*(%$#@@#$%Y& https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/blocks/1

Hey folks, This variance/luck (or lack thereof) is killing me!! (But I know a lot of folks are hurting.) As one who has been cashing in my coins at the end of each month and using the proceeds to pay, among other things, the electric bill, December is looking grim. And COLD. Brrr. (Which in itself is a good thing.) Since I've been doing the monthly cash-in, I've been able to mine ~1.5 BTC on Kano each month. It's been great and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Especially, the BIG GREEN Streaks! It has usually come out that I can pull in between $900-1,100 after fees. Then out of that, my electric bill is ~$460. Which has always given me a nice little profit that has gone to help with other bills. But I'm going to have to step away from the pool for the rest of this month. I'm thinking I can come back after the 1st of the year. After the 1st of the year, I HOPE I will have a new job with much better pay. I should find out about the hiring decision around the middle of next week. IF I get this new job, my life will change 100% for the better and I will no longer have to factor in BTC earning to help with the bills. I will instead try to grab another S9 or two to add to my ~49TH. In fact, after having this new job for a short while, I may be able to afford a new house and be able to set up a larger dedicated "mining room" with more power outlets and support for perhaps six more S9's, maybe more and have room and power left over in case another ASIC player should put out a machine worth while. (However that seems unlikely any time soon.) Of course, I will point all that new hash at Kano/CK pool. So, I hope Kano/CK can rack in the blocks between now and the new year!!! I would love to see an all-green stats page again for my return! I wish everyone the best!!! I still have some hash here in my 5Nd. With my normal luck - which is usually not the best - the pool should start hitting blocks left and right if I'm not here. I won't be going far and will keep my eyes on the pool and forum as I always have since I was lucky (and wise enough) to move my miners here about 10 months ago. I'm certainly not going to the Dark-Side (Chinese pools) Best wishes and best of luck!!!! Let's turn this December around!!! COME ON BLOCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s Look at that crappy block Ant Poo just mined. 0.21 kB in size. Pretty pitiful. Grrr. https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/blocks/1p.s. I consider most of you all as an extended family. There is no other pool forum that can come close to the comradery here. That is all. Mine on!!!

Grrr. https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/blocks/1Firstly, good luck with your job interview and I hope you get it for a Merrier Christmas. Secondly, I do share your concerns and pain. The extreme variance of the slow or no growth in recent months is a double edge swords. Just like you, I do have monthly commitment to electricity bills etc. What I usually do is I allocate more hash rates on PPS-style (rental included) mining in the first half of the month to ensure I achieve 80~90% of the accrued bills for that month, then the rest at Kano. Everyone knows Kano pool is the most rewarding pool in the long run, *theoretically* speaking. But reality is we all have near-term commitments. Striking a fine balance between predictable revenue and long term better rewards is paramount to small miners without deep pockets like me.

Thanks! I appreciate the well-wishes. I have already had my 2nd interview with them. I'm guessing it's between me and perhaps one other person. It is a "State" job here in the US. Full-time, full benefits, good salary, etc. All of the things I don't have now. LOL Yes, I agree with your perspective above. With my electric cost, it has always been a fine line between making a profit and just breaking even. Thankfully, the Kano pool has been great in terms of rewards and I have always come out in positive territory. I agree that in the long run it's best to be here and stay. I will be back. I hope that post earlier about the next difficulty increase will not come to fruition. Hopefully, some of that hash will be turned off before the next diff increase. (Which I think is only about 1 day away.) Cheers!! EDIT: Yes, I don't have any "deep pockets" either. If anything, I have holes in all of my pockets!

Is there any other place to see how we are doing other than https://kano.is ? Seems like we are spinning our wheels lately, it would be reassuring to see some other data points or comments as to why all the sudden we are this far below average. https://btc.com/stats/pool

Is this really showing our effective hashrate here?

It is based on the number of blocks found within a certain period of time. Meaning that we are not finding as many blocks as we would be expected to with 30PH.

That site reports that this pool hashrate is 4.5 PH/s (yet its correct for F2Pool) ...
Is this really showing our effective hashrate here?
Yes, as zachm pointed out that shows the "rate" based on blocks found. One must keep in mind that we, in the Bitcoin community, live in a world of "on average"; when there are days that are double, there are going to be days that are half or less (3d = 0.21%, but 1W is over 2x 3D and 1M is ~2.4x 1W). It all works out in the end.

In fact slush's also shows just 75ph when it is 140ph on their site.

We beat "Expected" in October by 2.31 blocks. But I'm ready to get these nasty red blocks behind us!!! This month has definitely been crappy! EDIT: The worst since I've been on the pool (but only about 10 months).

Being upset by a difference of 0.2 blocks per day (max of 6 under per month) is miopic enough to make one suggest that perhaps something as volatile as BTC isn't the right choice for you. :/
