It looks like besides falling months behind the other manufacturers, BTCFPGA is also selling itself to an "asian company" that has not yet been named.  This makes me nervous.  What are your thoughts on cancelling our bASIC orders and going all in on Butterfly Labs?

I am selling my share in BTCFPGA and it is now going to be owned by a asian company that is 100% sure of a March Delivery.  if you are not interested in doing business with this company please feel free to filll out a refund request and we will refund your money is full. There is plenty enough money to make all of these refunds and I have been a pillar of this community for years, so please no panic. Anyone that wants a refund - they will receive one today. Please I ask you to please accept my apologize - if you can wait until March you will receive a superior ASIC mining device, if you lost your trust in me and my company than I dont blame you at all. But please understand I tried the best at the best of my ability and I can't take any of this anymore. I am not the right man for this job. Your new ASIAN benefactors will be online soon to greet you all and see where were are at and hopefully they can calm some of your nerves.

As far as "going all in on BFL" goes, it is probably more dangerous to keep all eggs in one basket than to bet on this. Plus, doesn't BFL have a huge backlog of orders anyway?

As for the delivery Time. Even if BFL really has a working prototype now (as they claim). And even if their production line is ready. I personally see now way how they could ship in January (as they claim).

I would say, keep a little diversity in the portfolio of Nasty is a save thing to do. Maybe this is a good opportunity to test the poll function of Nastyfans?

I think waiting until March for bASIC is O.K. A new order at Butterfly Labs probably will not be shipped faster. And I am skeptical about all the January promises anyway.

Well... I would wait for bASIC. There will be a lot's of humps on the way. Perhaps bASIC will adjust their products after ASIC goes online  or BFL will go belly up (just kidding). Let's stay with the diversity.

nastyfans policy specifies that all polls include a "no action" choice. It also specifies that this is the automatic vote if a member does not vote within thirty days.

I am not sure this is the best option, at least how phrased.   The reason being with a default choice (even if it can be changed) is that you just need to phrase the question differently:

"Should we stay diversified and keep our bASIC orders?"   YES=Diversified  NO=All BFL

"Should we consolidate all of our equipment in BFL and cancel any existing preorders?"  YES=All BFL  NO=Diversified

IF we do change the policy I would only have two options:
  * Don't count my seats (abstain)
  * Proxy to OGNasty

as those are really the only sensible 'defaults' to unknown questions.

I would like to Cancel orders with BTCFPGA but I would like to Purchase hardware from a different ASIC company.  Can this be a choose?  I don't like the idea of going all in on Butterfly Labs but I don't like sticking with BTCFPGA.

If we have more options then it is very improbable that any option will get 75% majority. Let us first see the results of these polls.

I'm in favor of canceling the ASIC orders but would prefer to maintain diversity with other ASIC developers rather than more orders with BFL.

Here's the problem with that.  The other manufacturers are much smaller than BFL.  The Avalon team for example isn't even accepting new orders at this time.  Deepbit's ASIC doesn't seem like the greatest deal, and as far as I know ASICMINER isn't selling individual units to be shipped anytime soon.  BFL has stated that they've ordered excess supply of ASIC chips and thus is probably our best chance at getting an order filled quickly if placed now.  I definitely understand the diversity argument, but it seems like at this time BFL is our best bet.

While I do agree with everything you just said there is also the counter argument of someone misreading, misclicking, or becoming more educated (here for example).

I dont want perfect to be the enemy of good, and what we have is awesome.  I am just wondering if there are not some situations where changing a vote is legitimate.
