If he's gonna grow into a successful large real world business, then at the very least at some point he will start with a clean slate, transferring intellectual property to a new company that will not be beholden to a bunch of bitcoin "shareholders".

Along with everyone else, I'm hoping he delivers a dividend for gen 3. But do I expect that if asicminer really succeeds and starts to generate significant continuous revenue and expand into various other markets that the current shareholder arrangement will continue? Not a chance in hell.
Do you really think new investors would have faith and trust in FC after doing something like that?

Investors whose investment contract had the full power of the Chinese government behind them enforcing said contract, as opposed to relying only on reputation on an internet forum as an enforcement mechanism? Yeah... I think they would go for it if they smelled profit potential.
Well it wouldn't be a case of 'as opposed to' like there was a choice. If there was a choice and AM was listed sure everyone would buy the listed stock.

Rather, it would become a case of, in your unlikely scenario, he stole everything from his previous shareholders so do you trust him enough to invest in him?

We all know how much a contract is worth no matter what jurisdiction; and if he claimed to have lost the wallet or key, or was hacked, what's the 'full power' of any govt going to do anyway?

I guess my question is where did that rumor come from anyways
Either that or Friedcat forgot

The response to the oddly worded question that Jutarul posted:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg6465166#msg6465166

Quote
Submitted Questions:
1) When can we expect the financial report that's supposed to coincide with the next round of dividends?
re 1) May 27.

I just tried to include both aspects in one question, i.e. "when is the statement due, remember the dividends"

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

What makes you say that?  Did General Electric (GE) change its structure after turning 100yr old and becoming multibillion dollar company?  Did Microsoft or Google or Apple screw over their shareholders when they made it big?

Microsoft technically became huge by shafting IBM. (some would say outsmarting)

I don't understand how he can take the time to post that but can't give us a very simple update. This is strange... Very strange. Is it possible that minerpumpkin completely fabricated that answer? I cannot understand how a person could make such an announcement to thousands of people only to not stock to their word without so much as a single sentence to let us know why... unless he never said it at all. Even Havelock called it nothing more then a "rumor".

What answer? The ones Jutarul (a board member) posted? The one I just linked, well... I'm afraid I can't fake posts by friedcat himself.

Yeah guys come to think of it. Friedcat never posted that divs are coming on the 27th and probably something was lost in the translation. Maybe by a financial statement he originally meant a financial checkpoint for everything and that it will be submitted for delegation later on. This would mean on the NEXT board members meeting it will be provided to them, Still... nothing regarding the divs!

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

I concur.  Customers and potential customers come before us investors.

Isn't he also one of the bitcoin core developers?

Yes, I would rather he tend to the needs of customers first... and that is what I imagine he is doing.

In regards to friedcat fucking investors over and all that, one has to look at it from his perspective.

Many of the buyers of his chips are investors as well, one for sure is a board member.  If he fucks over shareholders, his current business relationships are tampered.  People pointed out that there are no laws that force anything him to honor his contract, this may be true but what does matter is reputation.  Friedcat has for a long time had a very solid reputation that is probably the major reason for a good part of the success we have seen.  With there being so many investors, he has a group of people actively routing for him.  I always recommend Asicminer products to people who ask, and answer questions when they are posed.  If he did fall back on his promises, I would imagine also he would have to start to fear for retribution...

I feel that he has more to lose falling back on his contract, then he has to gain from it.  The mining industry has yet to hit the big time.  Right now it is start up businesses that are setting up farms, no big companies in the space of data centers have gotten involved... I imagine that day may soon come, and having a clean and robust reputation will only benefit him.

All that said, I too, would really like him to come in here and say "Update coming within 48hours" or something to that effect in this thread.

I agree its annoying for shareholders to see FC posting these kinds of things, and "ignoring" shareholders, but that's his MO. He has never spent his time saying "I'll post tomorrow" or whatever, he just posts when he is ready to post and then shuts up again.

You can call it rude, insensitive ,whatever you like, but its his MO and people don't change their MO. Now if he ever got round to employing that PR person .... (wishful thinking)
