Well I'm an old fuddy duddy boomer Dr Who fan  (the old ones of course) , so I better chime in...

EXTERMINATE!!
EXTERMINATE!!

Lets be honest, low budget cardboard cut out monsters on a primitive set were good back in the day, no denying,
but gotta move with the times, and not  be stuck in a timelord time warp, yeah?
Some of the new updated stuff is really good, imo.

special fx wise its great now, sure. but the original Hartnell/Troughton era with the rubber suites with zippers visible and wiffle balls glued on and such were half the charm and i was a wee children at the time. nothing better to a kid like me.

but he stories were the thing. real character development, even on the extras characters.

The Talons of Weng-Chiang is one of my fave of all time. great story, Baker at at his best, with Leela (another fav, aside from Sarah Jane) is in fine form too. and great support cast.

and now we have..... sheeeeeit trying to blot it from my mind.

Maybe it would be better if extraterrestrial life doesn't find us.

especially now that the The Doctor has turned all politically correct and "woke" whatever the fuck that means.
the daleks would roll right over her cuz "reasons".

sorry for OT but im an olde skoole dr who fan since the beginnings, William Hartnell forever.. current show is actually offensive to some old timers like meself. sigh..

yeah.. thunderbirds, original '60s dr who.. im dating myself lol.

The more you share, the more your bowl will be plentiful. I think your are definitely a Belter, one of mine kin.  Grin

The solution is to increase the block size to 16 billion exabytes and fill it up with cat videos. I don't think anybody could 51% that.

dont underestimate my cats ego. he has been trying to 51% the internet so the only videos are of him.

Would love to see a poll here asking -

Do you think we’ll see another new ATH in 2021?

Yes or No?

I’m just keen to see the sentiment amongst fellow HODLERS.

a mere doubling from the current price? and months to do so? i would be (moderately) surprised if it didnt honestly.

Losing 120 or so coins on MtGox/Bitcoinica taught me how broken bitcoin is. If someone as intelligent as me can lose that much, then most ordinary people don't have a chance. It's just another reason I know bitcoin will never work out.

yeah but as you state bitcoin is worth zero, so no loss happened. so no lesson to be learned according there to your maths and science.
1008  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just created an account with Gemini & have questions on: July 29, 2021, 09:39:22 AM
gemini uses authy for 2fa, but that is linked to a phone number. but its not sms, its an app. but im in the usa and havent tried it ouside of the usa. gemini also can supposedly use a yubikey but my experience with the yubikey is hit and miss. havent looked into it with gemini yet. for comparison yubikey works perfect with coinbase (not that im recommending coinbase, just saying coinbase has yubikeys working 100% fine, so its not the yubikey thats the problem).

not sure if any of this info will help but no one else answered so..

1st a quick background: for years i had donated my CPU/GPU computing time to free, worthy (in my eyes) causes like SETI and Folding@Home. so i was used to building and running computers for compute intensive projects. running multi gpu setups was second nature at that point. for free.

so in 2011 so when i found bitcoin and actually had the possibility of paying for electricity and the GPUs (long shot but hey if it didnt it didnt) i jumped in. read the white paper but at that time most of it was beyond me.. but i did grok enough to understand this could be a game changer. so after a bit of testing on my existing setups (old folding cards that were at the end of their usefulness as far as PPD was concerned) i jumped in and bought a HD6870 for mining. later i added some HD5830s.

btc crashed from $35 to 2 during my 1st year (2011-2012) but i didnt really care much as i never made money at folding or SETI, just the warm fuzzies. but at that point the folding community started going downhill with infighting and such. so mining btc it was.. mined at a loss for part of a year or two but again, didnt care i was the project that was important, especially once i started understanding the white paper.

and here we are. my "donation" of time during that early period allowed me to retire early. didnt expect that. but ill take it heh.

come on people, I paid the socks with dogecoin.  the "equivalent" value today is 5000 give or take
and yes I still wear them, and they are comfy Smiley
edit: they were like 10$ yeah
edit edit:  Holy shit, that 3 million dollar piece of salami  Grin

hey at least you can wear them. i bought 10 btc of games from steam (5 games) back when they accepted btc. and thats what ~$400,000 today

and others here make that look lame

we are both pikers lol
1012  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 23, 2021, 01:37:20 AM
as for the price going up.. i dont really pay much attention really unless its like a 40% move once way or another.

Why are you here then vapourminer?  just for luls, shits and giggles or for some udder reasonenings?

hahahahaha

lulz of course - the memes here have no equal anywhere on the net.

and how do you think i find out about >40% (or so) swings? by reading the WO!

This most recent dippening must have truly gotten your attention in a kind of full-time status for at least two months (but who's counting?), no?  Or that lingering in the 40% to 56% correction arena does not count?

And what about the dip in 2018  - dipped 70% in February 2018, and then bounced all over the place, but mostly not less than a 40% correction arena, and then got down to about 85% and then seemed to linger in a more than 50% dippening arena for more than 2 years... so that must have gotten a wee bit of your "attention," no?   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

i really dont check the price that often, maybe every several days, sometimes longer. why so long between checks? because i set my buy/sell ladders up so they can cover a decent bit of oscillation without my attention. checking hourly or even just once daily makes it too easy to second guess myself. so once a week, if even that, seems enough. at least for the way i approach this, and looking back on my track record it was the times i had auto pilot set that were the best. guess that means i try set the ladders up as emotionlessly as possible.. so i dont get into scream like little girl mode.

that being said if the price is on an upward tear (especially 2017, 2021 runs) i will leave the price up on the puter and my wife and i will stare in awe at the honey badgers antics.

[...]  I remember that I used to pay 3.5 BTC for WoW mothly sub and I played for years... hope Belkaar still got them... and on topic why it's going up right now?

man 3.5 btc per month? i paid like 10 btc to steam just once for like 5 games.. call it 60k per game by todays price lol. i even played a couple of them.

as for the price going up.. i dont really pay much attention really unless its like a 40% move once way or another.

Wow, is that Colonel Steve Zodiac, from Fireball XL-5?

It's from Thunderbirds. It's been so long since I watched any that I don't remember most of the names. Think I'm going to dig some up and watch some with my lad though.

i was thinking Thunderbirds, one of the kids maybe. been a while. Thunderbird One?

yeah thats what i thought but i cant remember any names aside from Lady Penelope with her 6x6 Rolls Royce.

loved that show as a kid.

youre thinking of Cowboys and Aliens, different movie. both were fun.

@jjg  I thought they preferred the title of Wizards rather than Sorcerers

Wizards.. another cool movie.

You are correct...totally conflated those films

Wizards...didnt that release with Heavy Metal?  If I am thinking of the right film anyway...animated right?   One of the best trips of my life...a midnight showing at the Del Ray...epic

yup Wizards was animated in a very distinct animation style (rotoscope? not sure)

i think Wizards and Heavy Metal were released within a few years of each other. it was when i was in my tripping phase so i saw both while wasted at some point.. fun times. left a lot of brain cells in the late 70s/early 80s heh.

Space Cowboys ... That was a decent movie.

Yes..I liked that movie as well..thought it a good role for Daniel Craig      Think there was a couple of sequels...maybe without Craig...but I havent seen em
