Unfortunately this campaign is full right now. But as hilariousandco mentioned, there may be spots opening up in the next week or two if you're still interested then.
1002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error opening Block Database - Looking for some help on: April 03, 2015, 03:16:48 AM
That error usually means that the databases somehow got corrupted. Try doing:
Code:
bitcoind -reindex -datadir=/directory/to/blockchain
Running that gives me an error saying "Error opening block database". However the database is there and runs well, it's using the same files that I was using on my Windows 7 machine running a bitcoin node.

Do you have any other ideas of what might fix this problem?

Mitchełł, when you get a moment to update the spreadsheet, do you mind changing the following information about the Rollin campaign?

-Campaign is currently full

Slot numbers have changed, the two numbers that have changed are:
-Staff/Hero/Legendary has been decreased to 7 slots
-Senior slots have been increases to 6 slots

Thanks so much for maintaining this thread as well, it's a great resource.

1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Error opening Block Database - Looking for some help on: April 02, 2015, 01:18:09 PM
Hey guys, I'm trying to setup a bitcoin node on my Odroid C1. Right now my plan is to store bitcoind on the Odroid, and the blockchain on my NAS. Currently I have bitcoind compiled and ready to go on the Odroid, and the blockchain is already on the NAS too, but it's out of date by about 16 hours right now.

Anyway, when I try to run the following command:
Code:
sudo bitcoind -datadir=/directory/to/blockchain

I get the error "Error opening block database. Do you want to rebuild the block database now?" I'm not sure how I should go about fixing this problem, I've tried some other commands to have bitcoind re-index the blockchain, but that doesn't seem to do much. I've also done some searching and others seem to have this problem, but there are no easy fixes that I'm able to find.

Does anybody know what the issue might be, and how I might go about fixing it?

1006  Other / New forum software / Re: Forum App for mobile? on: April 01, 2015, 03:51:25 PM
It would be a nice feature, but I think I'd rather just have a mobile version of the website. Right now the site is difficult to navigate on while on a mobile device, and a mobile site would be so much nicer. Plus, it would work on all devices that are considered mobile, not just iOS ot Android devices. (Although they make up the majority of mobile devices)

Haha what a great April Fools prank. I'm hoping that custom avatars stick after today too, I really like mine and must have just missed the window when I signed up to when avatars were disabled.

If you especially dislike the avatar you were given, uploading a new avatar (or reuploading your current one) will give you a random new one. If anyone has any ideas for more "fool" avatars to add, post them here and I might add them later today.

The avatar feature will work properly after April 1.
OK, I must've missed that part. Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting to get an avatar for a long time, was kind of kicking myself for not setting one back in 2013 when I registered.

1010  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Web Wallet vs. Local Wallet on: March 30, 2015, 01:02:55 PM
i suggest you to have a look on Electrum..  Wink   you probably going to like it  Grin
Where is the private key stored on Electrum?

Electrum prompts you for a password when you first create your wallet. It then uses that password to encrypt all of your private keys, as well as your seed. You then use this password when you try to send funds, sign a message, or anything else that requires your private keys or Electrum seed. For hot wallets Electrum is a decent choice and easy to use. Then again, you could go the Coinbase route because they are insured against bitcoin losses in their wallets.

Is there any chance you would allow a senior member to occupy a hero spot but receive payment as a senior? (I am referring to me BTW)
Sure, I think we could do that. I've reviewed your posts too and it looks like you meet all the requirements for the campaign. If you decide to join, please change your signature and then post here with your post count, and bitcoin address.

1014  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Password recovery question , can load wallet but forgot PW/ seed can't send BTC? on: March 28, 2015, 09:32:56 PM
it's got .25 btc not a lot but a lot to me . is there a default password for the default wallet?
There isn't a default password for an Electrum wallet. The password on the wallet would be a password that you set earlier. If it's worth it to you, and you think that your password is 6 characters or less try and use BTCRecover. Start with a scan for just one character, then two, three, etc. If you've tried up to five or six characters, then I'd stop because chances are you won't find the password seeing as each character makes it exponentially more difficult to find the potential password.
1015  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How do I know what nm my Monarch is and other noob ?'s on: March 28, 2015, 08:40:52 PM
Thought as such about how often Bitminter reports speed.

When looking at bfgminer and determine avg speed its the last number nearest Gh/s, correct?  For example 610.2/603.6/>this number>793.1Gh/s

As for pool, I chose Bitminter because my first experience with mining was with a jalapeno and their software was the easiest.  I now realize I'm better off with bfgminer.  Don't know about the pool though.  Suggestions welcome.
Yes, the last number is the miner's average speed overall. As for a pool, I've had nothing but good experiences with Slush's Pool.
1016  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How do I know what nm my Monarch is and other noob ?'s on: March 28, 2015, 08:18:46 PM
I don't think there's any way you can check how small the transistors are with BFGMiner, however your card should be a 28nm miner. It looks like only 28nm Monarchs were made.

Also, for the hashrate bit, trust the hashrate displayed in BFGMiner. The pool hashrate is just an estimate at how often you submit shares and what difficult they are, and often the estimated difficult is off by quite a bit, as in your case.
1017  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Miners Paybase Paycoin unofficial uncensored discussion.ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 28, 2015, 08:14:38 PM
So what is the consensus? Will Paycoin survive or not?
I think it has failed already... GAW claimed that Paycoins would be worth at least $20 each, and what are they worth now, less than 65 cents each? Plus with the amount that was pre-mined, I don't think that this "currency" has a chance of surviving.
1018  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Looking for a low power, display GPU on: March 27, 2015, 11:46:27 PM
Hey all,

I'm looking for a low power consumption GPU (read: a GPU that doesn't have any power connectors, the lower the power the better) to be used just as a display card in a server. Performance of the card doesn't matter, as long as it works fine. Something like a Radeon 5450 would be exactly what I'm looking for.

If you have a card like this that you're looking to sell for fairly cheap ( < $20 CAD), then let me know. I'm located in Canada for shipping, and if you feel a need for escrow, I welcome it from a reputable user. If you don't want to use escrow, then I request that you send me the card up front, and I will send you the payment for the card after I've received it, and confirmed that it works as should.

If you have any questions or concerns, then don't hesitate to send me a PM either.
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Rasp pi unable to download BTC wallet on: March 27, 2015, 01:21:04 PM
I was just able to clone it onto my Pi model B no problem.

Try using the following:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin
If it doesn't clone then it might be a problem with your internet connection not being able to access Github.
1020  Other / Meta / Re: A more effective way to reduce signature spamming on: March 27, 2015, 12:47:04 AM
I have seen a bunch of people who "kick the tires" asking questions with no intentions of buying (mainly in the goods/computer sections). I think the spammers who make those paragraphs of utter junk are worse than the short spammers!
Chipping into what you said, the other type of posts in the marketplace that frustrate me are the "do you accept escrow?" posts? I haven't seen many in the past couple months though, and I think that the staff here are thankfully deleting those.
