10121  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: breadwallet is now available for Android M! Download now on Google Play on: July 30, 2016, 02:23:52 AM
I am using Google Keyboard on a Nexus 6P with Breadwallet for Android with no problems.
Like I said, I'm fairly sure that breadwallet isn't against Google Keyboard as such, but it is simply because on my ROM (which isn't a nexus factory rom like I'm assuming you're running on your Nexus6P), the "system default" keyboard is AOSP... NOT Google.

I had to download Google Keyboard from the play store and install it. So Breadwallet deems this to be a "Bad Thig™" and refuses to work with it... it wouldn't matter if I was using Flexy or Swype or anything other addon keyboard.

Android already gives you warnings that addon keyboards can steal your data etc... and as long as a person is sensible about what they're doing, and trust the company that coded the keyboard, I don't see why Breadwallet should have an issue with it.
10122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For those who think that Bitcoin is ruled by miners on: July 30, 2016, 02:07:24 AM
But the overriding cost is probably electricity. Have you factored that into your equations at all?

I assume you are factoring the labour costs in purely as that impacts on the production cost of the mining rig. However, even a $200 mining rig needs electricity to run... so if you're paying $1/kW as opposed to $0.02/kW for running a $1000 mining rig... there will be a point where the more expensive rig starts to win out.

So, what are the costs of electricity production in those countries that you have listed? I dare say they are not as cheap as one might think... This is where countries like Iceland with boatloads of very cheap electricity through thermal electricity generation AND a cold climate will come to the fore
10123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FREE TIPS WITH STATISTICS---W17--L11 (Profit +472.98mBTC so far) on: July 30, 2016, 01:35:07 AM
Yeah... that's football for sure. Along with this tip (thanks btw, good bet Wink) I took another bet on China Super League with 1 strong team and 1 weak team... should have easily been a win for the home team... and they didn't score until 84th minute!!!?!

I had already written it off as a lost bet and was waiting for the 0-0 draw result... but thankfully it ended OK.
10124  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: breadwallet is now available for Android M! Download now on Google Play on: July 30, 2016, 01:30:35 AM
AOSP and Google Keyboard are slightly different indeed, but I guess that should be flagged as a bug... Although it is possible to download an unsigned version of Google Keyboard and have issues. Post on their thread or send them an email, curious as to what the developers say about that.

I thought this WAS bread wallet thread? But it seems breadwallet_dan just did a bit and run to advertise the Android version of bread wallet and then disappeared...  Undecided

To be honest, I just don't think it is for me anyway... I dislike the bright white theme... I disagree with their stance on keyboards, which obviously isn't a "bug", but a deliberate design choice... I do like their warning about operating on a Rooted device... I'm not sure why the keyboard thing can't be a warning as well.

Seems a bit like they're trying to bring iOS thinking and design to Android... which, imho, won't work...

10125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Sports Betting Website? on: July 29, 2016, 01:39:50 PM
Basically, your options for bitcoin betting websites will come down to (in no particular order) these 3:

Directbet.eu
Nitrogensports.eu
sportsbet.io

If you want something a little different and more "simple"... I have also found a nifty little Telegram Bot based SportsBook callied @BookieBig (see the thread here). Deposits and withdrawls are instant (you can bet with 0 confirmations), they have a decent range of bets... max is like 0.015 BTC and min is only 0.0001 BTC... so you can start really small. It may not be as fancy as the full websites, but I like it Wink
10126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This Is Why I Love Gambling On Sports... on: July 29, 2016, 01:31:58 PM
You can do a lot to increase your chances of winning at sports gambling... but at the end of the day, it is still gambling... Wink

Obviously, you can try and play safe for the smaller returns, betting on "sure things"... but even when a team is paying like 1.05 to win, the other team could always sneak a goal in the 90th minute to get a draw or a win...

Having said that, I do prefer the sports betting to things like Dice or casino games. I guess the mathematician in me just can't accept the house edge that casinos and dice games hold over you.
10127  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: breadwallet is now available for Android M! Download now on Google Play on: July 29, 2016, 01:12:29 PM
What doesn't seem fair is that upon actually trying to use the wallet to do anything... it kept throwing up an error demanding that I change my keyboard because custom input is "unsafe"...

I was using Google Keyboard??!? Huh

It effectively makes the app unusable... as any time I do anything, it comes up with the error and opens the input settings dialog. I get that they dev is attempting to make it all nice and secure and stuff... but come on... That is just being a bit too paranoid.  Undecided

I suspect because the Keyboard is not the inbuilt system one and is downloaded is the reason it won't work, but I don't want to use the AOSP keyboard that is the "system" keyboard, I want to use Google Keyboard... made by Google and downloaded from Play Store...
10128  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 29, 2016, 01:07:53 PM
Yeah... in general, most of the 3's are from web wallets, where you don't own the private keys... places like Xapo, Coinbase etc...  and the 1's are your typical one private key per address type wallets from your desktop/mobile/brain/paper wallets etc...

Having said that, some web wallets (like old blockchain.info) where you had the private keys were 1's... and some of the nonweb wallets that support multisig will generate 3's... so you can't really say 100% what sort of wallet generated any particular address...

The 1 and 3 certainly has nothing to do with vanity or not.
10129  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My bitcoins are gone, can you help me? on: July 29, 2016, 01:40:56 AM
Yeah... I had a look at that bcoiners "website"... OMG... how did you manage to find that? and then trust that over the likes of Blockchain.info, Xapo, Coinbase, Electrum, Mycelium, Multibit, Bitcoin Core etc?

It looks like it was put together in about 5 minutes by someone who doesn't really understand PHP, CSS or webdesign in general... There is pretty much NO contact details and before you posted the link in this thread, I'd never even seen or heard about it...

How did googling "Bitcoin Wallet" (which I assume you did when you were wading through the jungle of wallets in step 2.) even lead you there? Huh I had to click to Page 5 of google search results before I found that... Page 5!!?!  Shocked

Anyway, I do hope you didn't lose too much money in this, and no doubt you have learned a valuable (if expensive) lesson... and hopefully your story can act as a warning to others:

DO NOT TRUST WEB WALLETS THAT DO NOT GIVE YOU PRIVATE KEYS

They effectively "own" your bitcoins and if they steal them, lock your account, disappear overnight etc... your bitcoins are GONE... get a proper wallet (desktop, mobile, paper, hardware etc) and be careful with your bitcoins!
10130  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it really useful ReCaptcha? on: July 29, 2016, 01:30:50 AM
I mean, most of the time once a day is renewed, or every time you change the IP.
Because, as you may know, the first time it is used you only have to click and the green check mark appears, but when you use it often, you have to choose the diferent images.
Is not this a weakness, or could be an exploit?
It isn't necessarily the first time you use it during the day... I've had to enter a couple of ReCaptcha's this morning after being offline overnight, and had to click images... however, about 15mins ago, I was on a site trying to sign up and had to do a ReCaptcha and it just accepted the click and gave me a green tick.

I suspect it is some random combination of time, IP, time since last captcha etc that they use to decide if you get the "free pass"...

Otherwise, as you say, it would be exploitable simply by rotating through different IPs using proxies (or exploiting your ISP if they assign a new IP every time you reconnect to the internet) which would make ReCaptcha a bit useless...

As far as Captcha's go in general... I find them very annoying... especially those SolveMedia ones... sometimes it just looks like crazy scribbles made by a 3yr old with crayons and you just can't read the letters... I've actually given up on a couple of websites because their Captchas were simply unreadable (I clicked the change captcha button like 30 times) and I couldn't sign up an account  Undecided

I understand why sites use them tho... but they need to at least make them human readable!
10131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: July 29, 2016, 01:17:41 AM
Yeah... I didn't want to put all my eggs in the Hertha Berlin basket... so I put down bets on 3 other "pretty solid" MoneyLine bets... Draws everywhere! Sad

This Europa League is crazy... Not sure how teams with odds of 1.3 and 1.4 vs. teams of odds 10.0 and 11.0 etc can only get draws... gah... I guess that's why they call it gambling! hahahah Oh well... next time I will follow my head and try to be a bit smarter rather than taking so many bets... at least I didn't parlay like I was going to, that could have been disastrous!
10132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For those who think that Bitcoin is ruled by miners on: July 28, 2016, 12:08:31 PM
You had me confused there for a second... being relatively new to the cryptocurrency world... and will all the Altcoins popping up everywhere, I actually thought you were seriously proposing a new "far better cryptocurrency"... haha

Thankfully I did more than read the first 2 paragraphs before launching into a "You're crazy, that's totally broken" type rant... Wink

I think though, that a lot of people overestimate how much influence the miners actually have on Bitcoin... plus the added bonus of baseless fears/racism/xenophobia related to a large part of the mining being done by "The Chinese"™.

It seems pretty logical, that the miners need Bitcoin to work, just as much as we'd like Bitcoin to work. They get coins from doing a lot of the grunt work, but if no one is using or wants these coins, all their work is effectively worthless... They have a big enough vested interest for that to be their incentive to not mess with the system. Likewise, if they all disappeared tomorrow, then it is easy enough for other people to pick up the slack and keep the system going.

@franky1, I think you missed the point of the OPs post... he isn't blaming miners for anything... he is trying to point out (albeit in a slightly obtuse way) the common misconceptions of people who think that Bitcoin is run/controlled by the miners... when clearly, it isn't...

VIP group is still open free to everyone Smiley ,europe league picks Smiley
I don't follow how to join? I just sign up at Nitrogen and then what? Do I need to PM you my Nitrogen account details or something?

I'd like to get in on this action as it seems like the VIP picks are doing even better than your, admittedly pretty good, free picks! Wink
10134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: July 27, 2016, 01:10:13 PM
Yeah... looks like the bookies are as unsure as we are about the results of the games today...

Obviously Olympiakos is a fairly safe bet... returns are pretty low tho at around ~1.3 on most books. Rosenburg might be worth a bet to win over APOEL Nicosia... but even that could end in a draw... maybe a "draw no bet" or "double chance" option might be the play tonight? Lower returns of course... but better than a loss!
10135  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to sell stuffs online and earn Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2016, 12:54:15 PM
Yes, but a lot of the people asking this question may not have a way to earn a steady income.
That's why they are asking the question. They might not have a job or live in a country where earning bitcoin through signature campaigns and faucets is just as much as they could earn doing normal work.
However, if you have a decent job, you are right. It's pointless to waste your time with faucets and online surveys. Just do your job and convert some of your cash to Bitcoin.
My point has nothing to do with whether or not you have a job... as regardless of whether or not you have a steady income the fact is that that you can do "X" for normal fiat... then convert that to bitcoin...

ie. "How do I sell stuffs online and earn Bitcoin?" translates to "How do I sell stuffs online and earn money so I can purchase Bitcoin?"... or "How can I earn Bitcoin from programming?" becomes "How can I earn money from programming and convert that to Bitcoin?" or "where is a good place to do surveys for bitcoin?" can just as easily be "where can I do surveys for fiat and convert that to Bitcoin?"

So, it really does not matter if this person just won the lottery, has a full time job or is unemployed. Asking how they can earn Bitcoin may as well be "how can I earn money"... because, at least for now and generally speaking, it is easier to earn fiat than it is to earn Bitcoin... and that is simply because fiat is more established in most places for most things...
10136  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: July 26, 2016, 11:54:47 PM
Agreed on #2...

http://twitchpotato.com is growing daily but faucetbox rank is 721... Says it might be broken bcz no claims for seversl hours.

We pay daily.... So i guess im adding an hourly giveaway to cope...
Should we be worried about the fact that twitchpotato shows:

Quote
Fund Balance: BTC 0.00000000
Today's Payout: BTC 0.00000000
Your estimated claim: BTC 0.00000000

Huh So there are no funds and no payout today? Or is that being caused by the FaucetBox outage?
10137  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to sell stuffs online and earn Bitcoin? on: July 26, 2016, 10:16:25 AM
I don't understand why people get so hung up on "how do I do X to get bitcoin?"... why can't you just do X for normal fiat... and then convert that fiat to bitcoin?

Like, if you have stuff to sell... sell it on Ebay or craigslist or gumtree or whatever trading website is popular in your country... then take all your $$$ and go buy some bitcoin using localbitcoins or deposit it into an exchange and buy some bitcoins there...

It really doesn't matter if I do X for (US)$655 or X for 1 BTC... it all works out the same doesn't it? Huh
10138  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: breadwallet is now available for Android M! Download now on Google Play on: July 26, 2016, 10:03:33 AM
It runs fine on a rooted Marshmallow device... I know, because I just installed it and it is running fine Wink

What it does do, is pop up a big scary warning saying that "the device security is compromised because it is rooted and any app can access any other app's keystore data and steal your bitcoins"... which is technically true, but only if an app has been granted root permissions... so like with most security things, you need to be smart and sensible about what you're doing with your device...

Having a rooted device doesn't mean any old app can just auto install and steal all your data/bitcoins... first of all it has to get on your device, then you have to run it... then you have to grant it root permissions...

Anyway, as far as the app goes... it looks OK... but @breadwallet_dan will you be putting in a "dark" theme? That VERY bright white theme is a killer for my eyes  Undecided  And I know all the AMOLED screen device users will love you for sparing their batteries by offering a black theme  Wink
10139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: July 26, 2016, 09:39:46 AM
Seems everyone is pretty much in agreement with the following:

- BATE Borisov win
- Dinamo Zagreb win
- Shakhtar win

I think Ludogrets have been playing really well in recent times and should be a solid choice at home... I took Salzburg as well... fingers crossed I win more than I lose today Smiley

I really dislike playing the spreads or the total goals... the odds pay well, but sometimes teams just struggle to score and will win 1-0 when they totally dominate for 90 minutes... so I'm sticking with MoneyLine today
10140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BEST FREE SPORTS BETS #1 TIPSTER✔(W2743/L457)BE PART OF A VIP GROUP FOR FREE!!!! on: July 26, 2016, 09:32:46 AM
1/2 today, slight bump, hopefully today we will be able to win it all Smiley
you can always join the vip group and get more exclusive winning picks Smiley
I would... but unfortunately I am playing at too low a level, as I think your price is my bankroll... I'm sure I'm playing a whole decimal point below your bet levels hahaha  Cheesy

Sadly, I don't have a lot of spare cash as I have been unemployed for a couple of months... and have just been betting dust from sig campaign etc... BUT I just got offered a job today so maybe have a few more BTC to spare in a couple of weeks after I start Wink

And I have decided that today is lucky day... I've checked your picks and they look like fairly solid options. So fingers crossed for 4 from 4 today... That would REALLY be awesome  Grin
