Updates!

 Who is Hoody Hoo btw?

@morvillz7z  goes by Hoody Hoo on SuperBRU, he doesn’t hang out these threads often, but he’s very active with FPL team, that’s probably the best means to know he’s here and often Jeremypwr’s threads too, I think you can drop him a pm, he should get it quicker.

New article is up:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/soccer/news/bitcointalk-sports-fanatics-league-round-12-recap

Give it a read and then igebotz can start complaining he did not get enough media time  Grin

This is last round and most of us have a lot to play for. If you are one of those that doesn't please do your best anyway to keep things as fair as possible. Most importantly, make your submissions on time.

Before you can be used as an example you need to be the best of the worse, there is literally no attention for us in middle of the table in Division 1, we just co-exist amongst each, hence the reason why we’ve been of any reference purpose 🤔

I submitted my answers already, but this is by far the round I’ve done the most randomization of my answers, if there is anything as such, because I really can’t sweat it especially those marginal questions where there is literally no probable larger success area of grey, it’s just point black or win, on a 1/4 or 1/5 scale, the questions with those 2/4 chances even though are not always the best choice, you can just decide to play the game of probability, but instead of giving us a free ride for the final round of the season, Trofo and his mate decide to make it questions of permutation and combination 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

I’m not expecting to do well for this round btw, I can only hope my opponent performs worse, that’d work too, I suppose!
1043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: September 19, 2023, 04:41:50 AM
What final round this could turn out to be with the standings, it's going to be quite a fluctuation between of places at the end of the week I reckon, I know I often tend to keep my cool on the final days but my opponent for this round could be my Achilles heel, I could go up 4th position or way down back to 7th, such a slippery slope  Undecided

And to say the questions for this round aren't being of any help too in actually an understatement, but It is what it is!

UCL..

What offer have you for me regarding a Side ? 2 mBTC for each pool, I finish above you in each pool the pools are independent of each other and are two separate side bets, what say you ?

Yo!  I guess you missed this, UCL kicks off today, are we on? If you're too scared of even-steven catching with you for your apparent "fluke" (I'm jealous  Roll Eyes) of a performance so far this season, there is @Igebotz waiting on the sideline to jump on this if you're not  Tongue

QQ: Any idea how automatically substitution work? Eustopinan didn't play today but Lamptey did so I was thinking Lamptey will automatically be subbed in for Eustopinan? Having happened so far.

This gameweek has been super weird.

I tried to explain how subs work multiple times here, I am giving up writing the same stuff every week  Grin Just tell me your team name and I will tell you if he is in 100%. Not your fantasy nickname, your fantasy team name.

Auto subs are happening only after whole GW is over, so you will see it on official page on Monday evening or Tuesday latest.

Thank you for your response. I got it. I went through the FAQs section of FPL and saw that there's automatic substitution for players that don't play at least a minute in a gameweek but it didn't say when the automatically substitution actually occurs. Good to know now as those points will go a long way for me in this GW.

Terrible outcome this gw from my midfielders. I need to do something about Sterling and it looks like Martineli picked up an injury today. Waiting for update on his situation.

In Summary, I moved down 1 place this gw.

This gameweek is a pandemic, it affected literally everyone, so it’s just one of those weeks that are unavoidable, most midfield options were blank and only few alternative captain choice made much of an impact, this is how it often goes immediately after most of the international breaks.

It had to come down to Sevilla for me again to stand a chance to secure the round, they’re already awful enough for this season, failing to win against Las Palmas will only makes things as bad as it can possibly get for them so far this season, It’s was as though they weren’t the same team we saw play against Man City in the Uefa super cup and had City on their toes almost all game long.

And is there such thing as an easy fixture for Chelsea any more ? I’m asking for my FPL counterparts 🤔

I guess I finally got my mojo back after all, Newcastle were able to score a goal a bit early and for enough chance and time to get 3 goals, I only think that would be asking too much of them though, it could have been a whole different ball game, if a penalty had been awarded for that potential handball call on Mbeumo.

I was really happy when Manchester City was down by 1 goal at half time. Well I know they are going to win but if they are down by 1 goal for the first 45 minutes means they probably will score 1-2 goals which is well within my expectation because I expected Newcastle to score 3+ goals hence I picked them but yeah it seems to be a bad mistake to pick Newcastle

I just need get one more question right to wrap this up, and that for the second time this season would be decided by Sevilla, the last time that happened was a loss for me, now they've got to make up for that.

So I need Sevilla to lose in this game huh or draw I guess to get another point. Im not sure if wether any of us would get point from question #9 but a draw would be nice

I have a better than chance of winning the F1 question because Leclerc is already out of the picture and Sainz Jr would likely hold the first position in Singapore, however, Norris is ahead of Hamilton in the final position of the podium, 3rd and 4th respectively, should Hamilton finishes ahead of Norris, then the round is a wrap for me, I’d rather have it this way than to rely on Sevilla, yet again. Those 3 points would make perfect sense for me, but since I’m very much likely not in a position to lose, I feel somewhat at ease and see how this plays out.

It still too early but Im hoping to get atleast a draw to stay out of the relegation zone.

@harkorede : damn it, it seems I jinxed this. 35 minutes to go for Newcastle to score atleast 3 goals and it seems that they wont be able to score that many considering how bad they are playing right now. Inter obviously will win the game with few minutes to go and if this goes to the worst scenario ever then this is a crazy turn around. You should be leading by 1 point after Newcastle's game is over

2 more questions to go, I wont sweat this I hope

Yanited getting fired at from all cylinders! Good for me I guess, because JWP struck home again.

Spurs.... stop being spursy!

What can I possibly say to all those millions of players who brought triple Tottenham players on WC and some others of points hit because they play a newly promoted team, I can’t help but laugh because millions of them will have to ship one or two of those Tottenham players again because of their next two fixtures.

I almost bought into the Son crusade, but after looking at the price and ownership rate, I decided against it. Although  I got Maddison, who I know will be more valuable this season than Son. Richarlison got a goal and an assist - a clear message to Son owners.

I'd agree that Maddison is an essential buy, and regardless the fixture he just can't be complete tamed because of how dynamic he can be even when he's not the one scoring the goals, he still impact the game on every level, once I get him in, he's going to be in for the long ride and a permanent buy for me. I'm tired of having to think Bruno or Rashford or Martinelli or Odegaard, because all these player have multiple options in their team and often have the points distributed across board.

Haaland saved the day yet again, but I’m wondering if he purposely left that Bernando Silva goals because it was goal bound already ??

My biggest struggle for the game week was deciding who my captain should be, I really would have threw my chip on Son Heung Min if I had him for this game week, and Salah have been selection for this game week and I immediately switched to him after the last game week had ended. However, looking at how short Liverpool are on fire power for this game week, TAA and the likes absence (that could be a blessing in disguise for Salah captaincy though) made reconsider and switched back to Haaland, because nothing is more sickening than have your captain blank in the first game of the week, and have to watch every other match and hoping other players captain pick fires blank too.

Out here looking at some of the transferred out players and among the top five ...my marksman made the list, which is disappointing!

If there is a forward I thought was impressive and deserved regular game time.. it was going to be João Pedro, but ever since GW2 its been a disaster for this lad and starting him from the bench hasn't rewarded him with decent points and for this reason time to retire him and disappointing Jackson  Undecided

I feel bad for transferring him out too but De zerbi was becoming Guardiola and I don't want to play any form of hide and seek this season.

With Fergusson out and Danny Welbeck as well, I think Joao Pedro will get a lot of minutes now, If he was having significant playing time, I likely would have kept him in my squad, but coming of the bench very late into games with Welbeck playing ahead of him isn't what I wanted to see with one of my favorite player for the season.

After just one international break, here is its outcome on players availability  Shocked

EDIT: Shit! I just checked and it's already 2-2 with few minutes remaining. Leverkusen scored an equalizer in 4th minute of added time. Damn my luck...

And here we go with Bayern Munich and freaking BS! wtfreaking hell was that ??!

They're by default a plague to be avoided all season long for me right now  Angry

I'm fine with Bayern Munich draw please, I don't extra drama, 1-1 would be a perfect scoreline for me to earn a point advantage, but if they can't keep it at this then, they should ensure it's not a 4 goals games.

I guess that extra drama saved my ass there. The goal on 86' minutes and that late minutes penalty really changed it into 4 goals in total. Well I guess this is pretty good for now but there are still 4 questions with different answers so let me be happy for tonight  Cheesy. If I can secure two more points from 2 questions tomorrow then I guess this settles it, Im crossing my fingers though and Im worried

I thought they took the lead again through Upamecano  Lips sealed, being able to get the answer right and the manner with which it came about probably signals that it's your week, so I wouldn't even sweat it any longer  Wink

Bayern - Leverkusen is currently 1-1. I need one more goal to get this answer correct. And J see that New Zealand is leading 38-3 against Namibia at half time so I guess that under 100 point difference will be the right answer.

I'm fine with Bayern Munich draw please, I don't extra drama, 1-1 would be a perfect scoreline for me to earn a point advantage, but if they can't keep it at this then, they should ensure it's not a 4 goals games.

35 points different at halftime is quite a lot to be honest, If France had finished their game with a 30 points+ difference yesterday, it would have been a different case right now and there will be some huge doubt about the question staying under 100 points difference. I think I owe the person set the question an apology for thinking they didn't have a grasp of the question or match up  Cool

I believe whoever set the question didn't get a full grasp of how the game who turnout or the level of competitiveness that would be displayed by the underdogs,

Well this could be another trick question thouh. I was actually marking 100-119 as my answers before I submitted them then when I recheck the history as well as most of the previous games in the level of friendly tournament, I noticed that its pretty hard to actually win with atleast 50 score differences hence I change my answer to below 100 but Uruguay actually did a favour for most of us by stalling France with its score differences though

Harry Kane have given Bayern Munich the lead already, just within 7 minutes into the game, I hope this doesn't become a goal fest, and If would they had better score less or more than 4 goals  Roll Eyes

Only 2 of the last 15 matches including friendly and preseason matches for Bayern Munich have ended with 2 goals or less, I'm currently biting my finger nails  Lips sealed

I guess it about time to have the thread after all, I'm sure it's going to another be another big thread over time, and for those suggesting escrow that's not bad thing, having an escrow over an eight months side bet of 2mBTC seem rather not worth it if you ask me, if you just don't trust someone there's no point of side bets, and side bets are just often to spice up the competition level generally amongst the Gambling Discussion, I'm sure they some of them would take 100 mBTC - 1 BTC, and would still trust each well enough to not need an escrow, I remember an infamous 0.1 BTC bet between two top members of this forum over the last United States Presidential election.

Even though there is some delay I have created the topic as I promised. I hope that it becomes a topic that everyone can benefit from.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5466920.new#new

By the way I have missed the side bet for the USA presidency. Is there any chance for you to share a link when you are available? This topic has really attracted my attention.

It was a bet between suchmoon and eddie13, I happened to be following their conversations a lot on the US politics then and some of their other posts too or would I call it debate, as the case always was whenever "Cryptohunter" (I can't remember if that was the actual username) gets involved, or often just contrast opinions on a lot of situations, not just that of the two mentioned personnel per se, but there are was always a lot for me to read on here about diverse perspective to several situations/actions from them, a lot of which are mostly against some very absurd justification for apparent immoralities/abuse and/or awful ideologies. I would spend a lot of hours on here just reading through several pages of these posts, highly enlightening tbh.

Here is the link the to the thread made for the reference of the bet agreement and terms from both parties;

@Harkorede what are your concerns? I'd like to answer but don't know what you need, Did you read OP and try the test form?

Yes, for sure I did test the Match Day form and Read the OP.

I'm just saying you might need to have the Day 1 form available very early enough just so that no one gets to miss it by just being away from the forum for a day, unlike BSFL enthusiast it might be easier for some other people to easily forget about the other Pot for the first time.

Buwaytress I'm in already! thanks Hhampuz for the gesture  Wink

I'm actually looking forward to this but I still have my concerns about the POT B, I think it'll be better to have the complete explanation of how it will work and there should be quite a time frame for use to make their decisions about it, and the kickoff is actually more around the corner than it seems, late submissions and all that isn't the way we'd want to kick off the competition.

-----------------------

I'm still researching on how many able bodies have returned useless from the international break, and how that affects every of my pool and FPL decision, this is literally the first time in my entire life of watching football that I'd love for the international break to be extended for just a week more  Angry

Anyone has seen this podcast? It's about Giannis reiterating that he might leave the Bucks to search for a team that will give him championships,

https://twitter.com/RossGeiger/status/1701592311392797006

"I'm a Milwaukee Buck, but most importantly I'm a winner… If there is a better situation for me to win the Larry O'Brien I have to take that better situation.”

And with that, I think Giannis will leave the Bucks after this contract has ended and as what we have discussed already, might be looking for teams like the Warriors,  Grin
Not the Warriors again  Grin Grin.

Anyway, in this current era, championship are far more valuable than loyalty already. You can be loyal to a team, but the team can't be loyal to you. On the other hand, if you win a title, people will think of that even more than you being loyal to a team. TBH, it's a good choice by Giannis, and knowing how many teams will be interested in him, for sure those top teams might free up some salary cap just to get him.

As for the Warriors getting him, I just hope that it will not happen because that will just destroy the competition of the league like what happened when KD joined them.

KD is a completely different player from Giannis, and for him to move to the Warriors, you bet there will also be a significant value of players, draft picks and what have you going the other way round too, I really can't picture Giannis in the current Warriors, I mean on paper it would seem like the scariest thing out there to be honest, but we must understand that the league has evolved a lot, Giannis addition a number of playing style away from the Warriors, and they'll have to play to the strength of Giannis too to make him very effective, he will be surrounded by instinctive shooters, and the shooter of all time too, but the amount of space Giannis need to operate to his fullest and how the Warriors switch a lot without the ball will be quite the opposite of Giannis greatest strength, he might have to settle more for defensive duties, and just become the next Jokic by creating plays because for every time he's get double or triple teamed up, with his height he can easy find the next man, and attacks the rim whenever he's not. It's going to be one hell of team, however, it's easier said than done when you consider how teams that have signed a one or two big stars to make an unnatural or non rhythmic big 3 or 4 of their own have fared these days.
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 15, 2023, 07:44:03 AM
Chelsea wasted a lot of money on transfers they just wanted superstars in their team and paid big money but that isnt how football goes. You need players that can go well with each other and thats why Chelsea keeps on having bad matches and looks like another bad season if they dont change something quick.
Don't you think if Chelsea choose to target less known players it's fans would crucify them for that..and the only way through this is to get superstars to get what fans want despite the fact that you can't buy success this way.

Btw Chelsea as a business has had good business over the years in terms of buying and selling of players as they don't allow players to walk out on them as free agents and lose out on revenue,  so their books do balance and it's money well spent on these big names at the end of the day.

From my personal perspective both of you are right to some extent, but also some assertion doesn't look like the best description of Chelsea transfer policy too, we must first understand that the approach by the past owner and current are two extremely different things, one looks calm make rational decision over a long period of term and it worked out well, while the new owners is turning the club to a NBA franchise with trading everyone out every new season and buying another battalion to see if that would work out.

The are is major pro and con to this new approach by the new owners, they players are very young so if it works out then they could build a very competitive that will last a long while, however, the major con is that most of this players are barely tested product so going for a whole lot of them could back significantly and wreck the club financially too especially with exorbitant how paid for them. For instance despite this huge amount spent so far, Chelsea forward line still look very mediocre and and lacks huge depth (in terms of qualities) that can compete at the highest level, although since they won't be competing at the highest level of football this I mean Europe so that have a whole year to working things out, hopefully it will be for the betterment of the club.

France is playing Uruguay tonight in Rugby Union cup, and since the winner is known for sure, will be interesting to see how the difference will end-up
Italy beating Namibia 52:8 does call to have 50+ difference tonight, but question is how much will it be

nevertheless, me and my opponent have same answer on this one, so does not influence final score

Well... I have 100 or less point while vd309 has over 120 points. If Italy managed to beat Namibia with that much difference, I'm scored of what New Zealand will do to them. I hope they won't destroy them...

I also have under 100 points difference for both teams because more looks very outrageous to me honest, and I believe whoever set the question didn't get a full grasp of how the game could turnout or the level of competitiveness that would be displayed by the underdogs, France won by 15 points difference, that leaves the New Zealand to win by at least 85 points to get over that lowest margin, I'd even be surprise if New Zealand is able to score more 50 points, let alone a 85 points margin. However, the question doesn't make any difference for my match up against arallmuus.
