1281  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to know how to do solo mining will pay in btc on: November 23, 2014, 10:30:22 PM
Why don't you just mine at http://solo.ckpool.org/ (run by the developer of CGMiner) or solo mine through Antpool? Both are easy to set up, and would save you 0.15BTC.
1282  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Scheduling with Antminer S1 on: November 23, 2014, 01:49:42 AM
I read about someone who set their S1 to mine only during low cost energy hours. (middle of the night) He set that up pretty easily by connecting the S1 to a block heater timer and setting that to only run for a few hours a day. That could be an option for you as well.
1283  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just how much faster are ASICs than GPUs and CPUs? on: November 23, 2014, 01:48:01 AM
Adding onto what os2sam said, if the top ASIC does 6,000,000 MH/s, then this ASIC would be about...

300,000 times faster than a quad core Intel CPU and 8571 times faster than a Radeon 7970 GPU hashing at 700MH/s.

Then there's efficiency as well, obviously ASICs are much more efficient than anything else that can hash.
1284  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Where i can buy cheap Rockminer New R-Box? (No Paypal please) on: November 21, 2014, 12:02:29 PM
Try WTCR.ca. They accept credit cards and ship worldwide.
1285  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: November 20, 2014, 06:12:56 PM
I nearly forgot:

PSA: Don't trust the little band on the trezor and the little hook, that holds the band. IT WILL TEAR and then you can potentially lose your trezor. I had my trezor on my keyband and first the connection from the black band to the metal tear, and then a week later the little hook, where the band is connected to the trezor broke off completely.

Now I have no idea how to keep the trezor with me all the time Sad

Don't.

It's too expensive and there are too few uses for it away from home, right now.

It functions much better as a savings account than an everyday cash wallet.  I just withdraw from trezor to mycelium as-needed.

Exactly. Keep a small amount of bitcoin in an easily accessible wallet and them keep the rest secure on your Trezor somewhere safe at home.
1286  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S1 remove beep feature on: November 20, 2014, 06:06:49 PM
IIRC you can't turn off the sound in the software,  but if you really wanted to you could probably remove the buzzer from the circuit board.
1287  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Was mining with the Raspberry Pi ever profitable? on: November 18, 2014, 01:35:13 PM
I'm sure the Pi would have been a profitable miner on it's own with the correct cooling, but of course those days would have been before the Pi was released.  Wink
1288  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I found a block !!! on: November 18, 2014, 01:29:18 PM
Congrats on finding a block! That's super impressive with just a single S3. Funny how it displays the best share as 0 though - the number must be too large to display on the Antminer status page. Smiley

What country/state/province are you located in?
1290  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Trustless Physical Wallets on: November 16, 2014, 11:37:58 PM
Could try and make something like Silver Wallets have going. Link: http://www.silverwallets.com/

You buy the physical coin, and then put your own address "on" it.
1291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Use ASIC to brute force wallet.dat? Possible? on: November 15, 2014, 10:00:29 PM
I assume you found the password? All funds were moved from that wallet on the 14th.
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best way how to prevent BTC wallet from hackers on: November 15, 2014, 09:59:13 PM
You could look into buying a Trezor. Very secure wallets but they're a little pricey. ($120 IIRC)

OR buy BTChip. Its like trezor but the hardware protection is low and there is no screen but still it is very good and cheap.

Interesting, haven't heard of the BTChip before. I'll have to look into it, seems like a great alternative to the Trezor after a few looks at it.

1294  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: November 15, 2014, 03:44:20 AM
Edit: Nevermind, works now! Just sent a transaction and it worked after that - maybe it needed my PIN to be entered, which I did to send the transaction?

I think address needs to be used first in order to use Sign/Verify workflow (so myTREZOR caches its index). A bug that should be fixed in the next release.
Aha makes sense!

Seems correct, I can't sign a message from an un-used address yet, but the addresses that I've used sign fine.
1295  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: November 15, 2014, 12:32:21 AM
Just received my Trezor today! Very happy with it so far.

One question though, I don't seem to be able to sign messages with any of my receive addresses. When I click the "sign" button, nothing happens. I've tried multiple times, and waited a couple minutes between tries. Any advice on how to get this working?

1296  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have LOTS of idle servers, should I mine? on: November 11, 2014, 11:00:41 PM
You would make more money going into the hosting business and charging for website hosting than mining Smiley (or CPU coin mining)
This sounds like a good idea.

I can't think of any CPU only coins off the top of my head right now, but if you could use these servers to offer people a service (ex. VPN) then you might be able to make some money off of them.
1297  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer s4? on: November 11, 2014, 10:59:30 PM
I wouldn't go for it - at the current price even with free power chances are quite low you'd be making money on an investment like that.

Seems like the days of mining are over for small miners unless you have free power and a cheap source of miners, then you might be able to make a little bit of profit. Another option would just be investing in bitcoin directly, if you feel that would be a good investment.
1298  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New r-box problem on: November 11, 2014, 10:52:22 PM
I connect mine to the 12v pin and ground pin of a molex connector and that works fine. After 7 days of running steady all connections are cool.

If you don't want to use a PC PSU to power it you could look into a 12V/5A power brick - that should work to power the R-Box.
1299  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin Difficulty Reach 10 Billion? on: November 10, 2014, 01:23:31 AM
Well the difficulty right now is about 39 billion so it probably won't drop to 10 billion, ever.
1300  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Rockminer R-box Help on: November 09, 2014, 10:43:56 PM
Does it stop the process when the text file is busy or continue on? I don't think it should matter much.
