1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my lack of knowledge has blinded me so far on: March 19, 2023, 09:31:37 PM
There are people like me who dislike KYC verification requirements from online casinos, and I always have two complaints about it.

1. Why the need for KYC.

2. Why pretend they won't ask for KYC, but ask for verification after a big win.

All of that could be part of the terms of service (TOS), or they are required by regulators to verify their clients once they hit a big amount of money. Sometimes, not all the information we need to know is present in the TOS, but as long as it's legally enforceable, we can't blame the gambling site for doing their job to comply with the regulators.

Unless in the case of scam casinos.
There’s no wrong actually for KYC if you see it on the positive side, but if you are completely against it, because you viewed it negatively, then you will never really like the idea that online casinos have made it compulsory for all gamblers, maybe not for small winnings, but definitely for huge winnings amount. However, if you come to understand their TOS, you will never question about KYC, and you will expect that they are just following the rules and regulations coming from the regulators. Otherwise, if they won’t stick to it, their casino business will also be fined because of non-compliance.
1302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will this Statement alone be enough to Prove my Gambling Loses for Tax Deduction on: March 19, 2023, 09:15:21 PM
From my experience with tax laws, no country will tax you for gambling losses, they can only do that if you have an aggregate gambling gain over the tax period.

And the issue is that it's not easy for countries to tax their citizens the way you have explained, though it's viable for you to prove you gained or lost. However, some would still evade tax through that as there are many schemes through which they do this, especially when they could gamble online, and with crypto.

This is why a country that wants to tax its citizens always has arrangements with the gambling company, they might tax your ticket directly or have the record they will duplicate for the government in order to know how to tax you. But one must be living in their country for the latter to be effective.

Either way, it depends on the country, but you shouldn't be taxed if you are not gaining.
I have never seen or heard such countries that imposed taxes even in times when you are at loss. Maybe it could be true for some who are really making it huge in gambling, but for those who are at loss, it will be additional loss for them if ever the government will still taxed them. Like in lottery, although taxes maybe included already in our tickets or bets, but most especially if you hit the jackpot prize, you will never receive the full winning amount indicated in the screen as they will still deduct quite big amount for the tax.
1303  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Feel Inadequate or Inspired After Watching These Types of Traders Content on: March 19, 2023, 08:58:38 PM
As a small bitcoin trader, I feel intimidated rather than inspired when watch certain YouTube or Social Media titles or content like "Day in the Life of a Young Millionaire Trader in Dubai" or "Day In The Life of a 23 Year Old Making $10,000 a Day", or "A Day In The Life of a Crypto Trader" etc. They feature young millionaire traders in beautiful places or traders who make thousands of dollars and to be honest, it creates a feeling of inadequacy or distress in me because I am yet to reached those levels of success yet. However, I have begun to avoid them and what I do is to focus on my own trading goals and aspirations. As a small bitcoin trader, have you ever felt intimidated, distressed, inadequate or inspired after watching these types of videos or content?
I never felt intimidated because I know exactly what it’s like to be a trader, and definitely it’s not easy but very hard especially for beginner traders. However, once you develop your skill in trading and master the strategies, then it’s really possible that you could earn huge profits through trading and earn millions. There are already successful traders these days and I’m certainly happy of whatever they achieved. The reason why I am also working on my own so I can be something like them, hopefully in the future.
1304  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Will you advice a new trader to join a trading community or group? on: March 18, 2023, 10:32:20 PM
I will not suggest and I also will not prohibit beginners from joining communities or trading groups. That can be fine as long as the goal is to gain knowledge and share experiences with each other on what to do in trading. Also it will not be good if the initial goal is wrong, such as following other people's trading methods, or swallowing what people in the group say. And also don't be mistaken for having a trading community or group, because many of them only take advantage of new members for their own interests, such as selling trading signals or something like that.
There are actually some advantages on joining a trading community, you share trade ideas, you learn from the experiences of others, you find immediate friends to support you on your trades especially when you’re devastated, and while the interest keeps growing, your learning will also not stop. However, if you join these communities to pay others to do trading for you, that is a disadvantage on your part. Although you can be stress free and trade effortless, but in the end you learned nothing and just become loser when those people who trade for you will leave the community. It’s good to engage yourself in a trading community, but never rely on them for your decision making in doing your final trades.
1305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most of the world population involved in gambling on: March 18, 2023, 09:59:15 PM
There must be definite data so we can say most people, that can be done through a survey but if the survey is conducted only in certain countries then it still cannot describe that most people gamble because the culture of a region can affect whether people gamble or not. However, saying that sports make people gamble is not entirely true because many sports lovers stick to the love of watching and not betting. So everyone has to go through a study with an even sample in each country so that we can say most people gamble
It’s a fact that gambling has now become very known to all parts of the world, but I cannot agree that most of the world’s population have been gambling. The fact that some religions and certain traditions are against to it, then these people involved in such religion or tradition are definitely not allowed to gamble. And while most of us love sports and entertainment, it does not mean that we all gamble for that. Some are just being entertained with sports gambling, but not a lot of people involve themselves in gambling.
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical gambling and internet gambling which is more fun. on: March 18, 2023, 09:45:45 PM
Playing gambling is physically more fun because we interact directly with people who also play there, even interact directly with the dealer, and we don't find that in online gambling. However, for easy access and time efficiency, online gambling is very efficient. We can access anytime and anywhere.
It's natural that physical gambling might be more fun, but for people who don't like crowds, online gambling is more fun. This goes back to each of us in my opinion, which place is more fun in our opinion, physical gambling or online gambling.
I guess no matter how most of us see physical gambling as more fun, but this idea may not be true to all especially for introvert people. They like to be on their own most of the time and they enjoy more when they are not with other people, and that’s where online gambling has existed on their own advantage. Although online gambling has become more useful these days because of its easy accessibility, especially when covid attacks, but if we compare traditional gambling over this online gambling, it’s still more fun and exciting betting in an open crowd where most of the players are also rooting for their individual bets.
1307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A reminder that with your bitcoin in a cold storage, you can be your own bank on: March 18, 2023, 09:30:31 PM
Having a Bitcoin wallet definitely gives you a lot more control over your funds. You can send and receive money without having to wait for a bank to approve it, and you don't have to worry about fees eating away at your hard-earned cash. Yeah, it's like being your own personal bank, but without all the hassle and paperwork. And let's be real, who wouldn't want that? And who knows, maybe one day we'll all be using it to buy our morning coffee and bagels like it's no big deal.

But like you said, with great power comes great responsibility. You gotta make sure your wallet is safe and secure, or else you risk losing all your coins. So don't forget to keep your private keys under lock and key, and maybe even consider using a hardware wallet for extra security.

That’s actually the best advantage of owning bitcoin because you can have its full control through putting them in your own cold storage wallet. You can do whatever you want without worrying if the banks will approve or not, and you can earn unlimited amount of bitcoin without the interruption of banks like setting your account limited amount of bitcoin to save. This is really giving us freedom over the banks. But apart from this, we should also be responsible of the safety and security of our own account. We should keep it private as much as we can by not disclosing to others that we have bitcoins in our account because that will trigger some scammers to create harm against us so they can steal our coins without our awareness.
1308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think that there are Dark secrets in every Successful Business on: March 18, 2023, 09:14:04 PM

What they are saying about someone has to lose something for the winning to win big. The real estate business must be a dirty business for some powerful men. For him to have access to acres of land, he has to make people sell.

I saw the documentary about Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos buying up the farmlands, they are a few of the rich who could really implement a smart city on thier own land.
For them to gain more wealth through owning hectares of land, it’s very possible that they will take advantage on the land properties of the poor people and eventually put them into a worst situation so they will be force to sell their lands. I’ve heard the same story here in my country wherein a powerful politician is owning forcefully the lands of the poor people here. That’s why I really believe that every successful business has its own dark secrets, though not all successful businessmen are responsible for this.
1309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some of the most common mistakes we make as beginners, and how to avoid them. on: March 17, 2023, 10:45:23 PM
Some people believe that these forums are simply places where we can come and succeed in life if we participate in them. This is not the case

For the fact that you're not into ponzi schemes doesn't mean you cannot still make it in life on a quicker track through this forum, this platform is the only community I've ever seen that guide one through a right path in life because you learn here in different aspects, you build a career here, you participate in a campaign if you so wish, you meet people and relate, you got exposed to the real world here because this platform constitute every potential and positive thoughts thinking people allover the world with a common goal, which is bitcoin and many other opportunities that may come through that while being on the forum.
The forum has nothing to do with our success, it’s the potentials within us that we should develop and help them enhanced through the forum’s reliable members. And when we start developing them, we should also learn from other people’s experiences in the forum as we can learn a lot of them especially in making us more confident in facing our mistakes and correcting them.
1310  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Being drunk while trading what was your experience on: March 17, 2023, 10:19:13 PM
Sorry to raise this topic over here, it was too heavy for me to answer all alone so I decided to share here to see some reasonable answer from those that have been in such situations. An hour ago, I went out with a friend of mine and it happens to be a drinking hall (beer parlor) where he got drunk and as well trading.
The question is, can you trade while you are already drunk?
I was asked this question because I have never been in that mood before being drunk while trading and those who have been in that condition what was your actions and reaction while trading because I noticed something very hard for someone to be drunk and as well trade, do you make profits or keep losing maybe do you close your trade after being drunk.

I have reason where this topic should be posted but if any of you think this topic is not at the right place then suggest me the proper place where I can moved it to I will be very grateful.

The floor is always open for more discussions.
You can always trade even when you are drunk, but the chances of winning your trades is very rare as mostly end up losing them. Trading is quite hard and difficult to succeed, so if one trade without the ability to monitor the market consistently, he will always end up failing and lost his money. That’s exactly the reason why people only trade when their minds are active and fresh, and not that they are bothered and not in their whole self being.
1311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when people tells their story on bitcoin on: March 17, 2023, 09:46:52 PM
For long now I have been reading lots of interesting testimonies around the forum about their experience and achievement they made through bitcoin progress. Something very important came into me to know how do you feels whenever someone said of their investment and how it yielded and they made fortune out of it.

Do you feels your late getting involved to the industry and do you wishes to be like them, and if you were in their shoes would you be able to utilize those opportunity they got or you won't afford to bear the risk and get involved?

Lets discuss wisely and get the best from ourselves.
I know I am still struggling in making my trades and investments successful but that does not mean that I cannot appreciate the good things that are happening to other people. They deserve the success because they are entitled for it, which only means everything they did in the past paved their way into its success. And never will I feel self-pity seeing they have an edge over me, because I know in the right time I will also achieve what they have been experiencing right now. Stay positive and good things will eventually follow.
1312  Economy / Economics / Re: less risk or big profit? on: March 17, 2023, 08:58:24 PM
The less riskier from Real Estate and cryptocurrency is Real Estate, but less risk,, less reward. The risk that come with the higher volatility of cryptocurrency makes the profit that can be gotten bigger. Will you go for less risk, or big profit?

Risk is the measurement of how tough and difficult a certain investment is.

Regardless if it's low risk or high risk, the success of any investment will depend on how we will properly manage it along the way.

If low-risk investments are bound to be always a success, why are there still established and recorded failures at those considered a less-risk investment? It just means that as long as there is a risk, there is no success in any investment without having a serious approach.
True. Everything that involves risks, we should address it with serious and positive approach because that’s the only way that we can lessen the risk and improve chances of becoming successful and profitable in the end. That is why despite of the high risks involved in bitcoin, most of the young investors are still aiming to invest in it successfully since it will create bigger profits and generate a passive income most especially if you develop skills and enhance your strategies to make it work.
1313  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taking loan for investment can be life threatening on: March 16, 2023, 10:59:06 PM
That is certainly true. It’s always life threatening to take a loan and used it for investments that don’t have guarantees if you will gain or lose in the end. Though some lucky investors have started from taking loans and able to manage the risk and handle their borrowed funds well, but that is not happening to all investors who take the risk in taking loans. Some have put their lives into worst situation and eventually live the poorest of the poor. That’s why if you want to invest responsibly, do not invest above your means. Use your spare money to invest so that if you lose, that will not affect your finances.
1314  Other / Off-topic / Re: A burden I bear within. on: March 16, 2023, 07:59:16 PM
Mate you already have bigger things to resolve — screw bitcoin for now lmao. Also noting that friends&family and volatile investments never go together well.
You can later introduce bitcoin to them if your family is already working well. For now, just learn to avoid things that will trigger the issue on your family. You cannot expect them to listen and agree with you especially when it comes to volatile investments. They will only think that you are only making the situation worst and that you want them to easily lose their money from useless investment.
1315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of my big losses (Gamble Responsibly) on: March 13, 2023, 03:08:43 PM
You did right posting your losses, there were many threads about gamblers winning and these temp people that its possible to win big amounts of money, by showing them your results you just show the true picture of how gamblers have their highs and lows in their bets, those who earlier post their winnings are just bragging and wants people to show admiration to their skill, but you are different you show them that things are not easy and they should play with money they can afford and not to be tempted to be like those who pretend to be good in winning.
OP just want to show everyone the reality about gambling, and that there can be no big wins without enduring huge losses at first. Well anyway, thanks OP for making it clear particularly for those beginners in gambling who are dying to win huge amount like you had won. Now, they will refrain from messaging you because they know already that you are just trying to recover your big losses. I think what all gamblers should realize that gambling should not be seen as a source of income, or instant wins, knowing it could also lead you to a life changing losses if you don’t gamble responsibly.
1316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fear of KYC requirements on: March 13, 2023, 01:08:16 PM
Frankly it is an issue if you consider it as an issue. In long run KYC verification is important as you grow your account. Imagine a situation where you have ton of money in it and suddenly there is site crash or let’s say there is hack or something and your money is lost. You can always claim back your funds by show casing validity of your account. Because in above mentioned events things could go south to north quickly and they might start investigating about it. Since you will have your verification done you can prove your identity or in some extreme cases you will be able to file law suit against the casino if they deny the refunds or lost assets. If you don’t wanna get verified then decentralised casinos are there but who knows the validity of same?
I have to agree with this. KYC will never be an issue for those who understand the real importance of KYC verification but for those who only sees as a requirement alone rather than its importance, they will always have to say negative about it. Wait until these people will experience some errors in their deposits and quickly lost their funds, I don’t think they still have to question KYC when it’s the only way they can retrieve their funds.
1317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Addiction Test on: March 13, 2023, 12:45:27 PM
This is good for newbies in gambling who have not experienced the worst losses yet. As for me, I don't think it's necessary to take the test because I have already learned from my mistakes, and I feel like a brand new gambler now. Becoming a responsible gambler isn't easy, but through learning from experience, anything is possible.

What would happen to a gambler if they took that test and found out that their addiction was high? Would they take it seriously or not? I think most of them would disregard the result because they still love to gamble.
Probably, they won’t deal with the result seriously because they will always think that gambling addiction is still good as long as you still control your losses and you still manage your gambling activities. So they don’t have to worry at all. But when time comes that their gambling addiction has come to its worst, wherein they used up all their life savings to chase profits in gambling, that’s the time they will worry on how to control themselves from being addicted from gambling. Btw, I think I don’t have to take the test knowing I’ve never been spending most of my time in gambling, and I can still live my life even without gambling.
1318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Street Gambling Risk on: March 13, 2023, 10:27:15 AM
Is street gambling safe?

Does it prove that street gambling is not safe? Yes, it might but it all depends on the players. Will u play your bet with people you know are no good? No right? Maybe we can't really say until it happens but how about the chance that you can get yourself harmed, I'm not saying that don't play street games or don't bet on street gambling what I'm saying is please do choose who you play with wisely.

No street gambling is not safe whether you are playing with unknown people or acquaintances when it comes to playing that can be considered risky, your safety should be your main concern, that is why we have physical casinos where people can feel safe, relax, and can unwind, street gambling not only has a lot of risks but you can encounter thugs and cheaters and you have no control of the situation, sometimes spectators of the game are the one that will cause trouble so it's better not to play in streets.
Even if you know most of the players out there, but you can’t have an assurance that you won’t be cheated since street gambling has no fixed rules and there’s no gambling managers or supervisors that will secure the transparency of the games. That is why some street gamblers end up being cheated and harassed especially in places where there are no authorities assigned. So I’d rather chose gambling in reputable casinos than in streets gambling where risks are high and are very dangerous to play.
1319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A costly gambling mistake on: March 13, 2023, 09:41:19 AM
The most popular mistake that newbies make with online casinos is avoiding the rules and regulations, not all online casinos will put up a warning sign on their first page and say 👇

"New users are welcome, please read our rules and regulation before making your first deposits"

You have to look for the website FAQ and go through it first, I have seen some newbies that avoid doing this has they ended up shooting themselves in the foot.

Some even start spreading FUD on the forum about these gambling platforms that did them wrong, not knowing that they are the ones at fault, they are guilty because they don't read the rules and regulations.
This is not for newbies only but even long-time players still make the mistake of skipping the TOS and the FAQ thinking that all casinos have the same FAQ, until they found out that it's different from the one where they used to play and when they filed a complaint.
It should be your nature to always check, read and be familiar with every casino's term that you're playing to avoid scenarios that will put your account in trouble.
If you aim to gamble responsibly, you should always take caution in every step you want to take, like reading and understanding the TOS first and reading on the reviews made by gamblers who have experienced playing in the site, that way you will be guided properly before you make your initial deposit. That is also one way to avoid filing complaints on the site and giving them negative feedbacks since you are the one who is at fault by not reading and understanding the terms and conditions of the site.
1320  Economy / Gambling / Re: What if bitcointalk creates a casino review and ratings board for members. on: March 12, 2023, 10:51:10 PM
I think creating a new thread for reviews and rating is a good idea in terms of convenience.  Even though we already have an announcement thread for each gambling company, it would be great if there is a thread that has the list of the casino dedicated to ratings and reviews.

But, as good as the idea sound, I think it requires lots of labor for maintenance and updates.  If anyone can do the @OP idea then I think it is great in terms of convenience.
This will be a great advantage for us especially for beginner gamblers as it will give them less chances to be scam from gambling. But it will surely requires another hard work on part of the forum just to keep the convenience for the sake of gamblers. However, gamblers should also do their part when gambling and never gamble more than an amount they can afford to lose. Just gamble responsibly, and never see gambling as a source of living rather than an entertainment.
