1381  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Market on the Rise, But Proceed with Caution! on: January 28, 2023, 09:19:53 PM
If we always exercise caution even if the opportunity already presented itself, we will never really get to something and we'll only regret not doing grabbing these opportunities in the future. You'll never know if we've already hit the bottom or it's just that the price is low. That's why DCA is a great buying technique to use when you want to be in the game long term. If you only buy when the price is rising, you'll really have a hard time convincing yourself and analyzing whether the buy is good or not. But if you halt into buying no matter the price, you'll never have the coins and you'll never reap the rewards when it starts to rain.
Since the market is always unpredictable, it could be pumping today and then dumping tomorrow, so the best way to do is to keep on DCAing so we can always increase the volume of our portfolio despite of the market uncertainty. And as always, regardless of how the market behaves, we should always invest with caution knowing investing in the crypto market itself has always its own calculated risk.
1382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone living with older people? on: January 28, 2023, 05:23:52 PM
See I have this problem, I am living with older people since I lost my parents at a very young age and I get so attached with crypto and I am making money out of it but the problem is my grandfather and uncles do not understand what Bitcoin is all about, believe me, I've tried to explain but they just won't get it. What can I do? They kind of believe that I am wasting my time.

How do one educate the illiterate about digital currency?
When you are already at an older age and is still illiterate, then it would be hard to educate that person especially if he is a closed minded individual that only believe on what he thinks is right. Unlike those younger ones that are still very imaginative, and open to new learnings because for them it’s a challenge. Much more if you teach them about cryptocurrency because they only know fiat, so anything that is crypto related will make them believe that those are not really existing in the real world. So if I were you, just leave them like that. They will learn eventually from their own willingness and interest especially if you provide a lot of positive proofs for them.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 27, 2023, 09:56:38 PM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

He may be right knowing you can enjoy gambling even at the expense of your home while sitting alone holding your phone, and gamble all you can. But I also believe being addicted is never on the accessibility of the gadget, but it’s more on the attitude and discipline of the gambler itself. If he always spend most of his time gambling, he will surely develop addiction. And that’s when everything becomes out of control and you tend to create impulsive decisions that made you an impulsive gambler after all.
1384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK fines online casino for only asking KYC from winning gamblers on: January 27, 2023, 09:33:22 PM
It's going to be the norm of being asked for KYC I believed, so you should be ready when one casino will ask you to do that. I guess it's the question of practice though, as the OP mentioned, it's only when the bettors won big that suddenly the casino will ask you to submit info. And when you comply, still, there are suspicious and then you might not get your winnings, hence there is a scam accusations against the casino itself. So it's better to ask for KYC in the beginning for me, and not get gamblers info false idea that they won't be getting KYC'ed.
Probably that would the best way so that gamblers will also not in trouble getting their won amount as they have endure a lot of losses first before they can come up with a positive outcome, so they also be given the best experience they could ever have. And for casinos, although some gamblers are used to it that they will only ask KYC in times of winnings, but KYC should be fixed now and it should be asked before deposits take place.
1385  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will lead the world's current market on: January 27, 2023, 09:09:48 PM
With a trillion dollar market cap and an ever-growing industry, it is quite possible that in the near future, cryptocurrency could play a major role in the world market, especially when global adoption is realized. But for now, it wouldn't be the case because as it stands, cryptocurrencies and bitcoin adjacently is still in its infant state. A lot of improvements within the infrastructure and also within the industry itself must be changed before it could take on the world market. For instance, it's heavy reliance on its deflationary nature makes it not fit for long-term usage, as the developers would have to choose between high value, or more customers. Scams are also rampant in this industry, but so is anywhere else, the problem is that this is debilitating for an industry as recent as the cryptocurrency world.
I do not think that even at a much higher adoption rate, it will not "lead" the worlds market, it will be a good alternative and it will be used by many people but I do not think that it will be leading anything at all.

It will probably be something normal and it will probably be used by a lot of people, tens of millions of people already owns or owned bitcoin before, maybe it will reach a billion one day, not number of people who holds it, but at one point ever had it, and if that's reached that would be awesome. But the whole world is using fiat now, and I think it will continue to be like that for a long time and it would not be that easy to stop doing that anytime soon.
Fiat will never be extinct and will continue to be the only one official currency in the whole world, leaving bitcoin as next to fiat since it’s never intended to compete with fiat in the first place. So even if the adoption rate is  very high, you cannot expect that people will shift easily and leave fiat as easy as that. Although I believe that bitcoin has really that huge potentials to rule the market, but I don’t think all countries government will root for it.
1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE ROLE OF BITCOIN IN EFFORTS TO HELP FLOOD AFFECTED COMMUNITIES on: January 27, 2023, 08:42:55 PM
This doesn't translate to Bitcoin helping flood victims, it's more like a philanthropist trading their Bitcoin to provide aid to those in need. A more direct example of Bitcoin playing a role would be if it was used in areas were bank accounts were being frozen and Bitcoin was the only means of circumventing government regulations.

Great job nonetheless. Acts of kindness such as this goes a long way to those who are in need and shows the good side of humanity.
Though this does not mean using bitcoin to help the victims directly, but the fact that bitcoin is the source of profits that enable to extend help and assistance to the flood victims, so it’s still good as bitcoin is helping the people indirectly. So great job OP. Continue to promote bitcoin by using bitcoin profits in all your undertakings.
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to invite 1 of my friends to invest in bitcoin on: January 26, 2023, 09:31:02 PM
...and to be honest I'm happy because my neighbors invest in bitcoin just like me...

Actually, the seller in the store acted recklessly, trusting your advice, obviously not understanding the fact that you yourself are new to investing. You should understand that if the price of bitcoin decreases after your recommendation to invest in bitcoin, then you will have to shop in another store, as the seller will consider you to blame for his losses.
That could be the possible scenario once the seller started to endure losses. But I doubt if he will invest immediately without studying about bitcoin on his own self, as every investment needs prior preparation and deep research before you finally decide to put your money at a risky investment. Also, the buyer must also realize that he has been very quick in giving information to the seller, not realizing that he’s still a newbie and he has to learn more before he can be reliable enough to share the facts about bitcoin.
1388  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason why I will never help anyone to invest in crypto on: January 26, 2023, 08:58:07 PM
I completely understand you Outhue. There is such a category of people, that either are afraid to take responsibility, or lazy to do research themselves. This is not only in crypto. For example I have personally faced people, who have asked to advice which car to buy, but later, if something breaks in it, the person that helped them to choose that car was responsible for it. Or I was asked to help to choose a laptop. I have suggested either Macbook or Lenovo. The person have said they are expensive and bought cheap Toshiba, that turned into crap after a year. Me and laggy Windows were responsible for users bad experience... Same goes with investment, purchase or taking a decision in something.
If they can’t be responsible enough on their own selves, then how can they be responsible in their investments as well. People like these would only want shortcuts and would want quick profits but never have the courage to make efforts that will make them successful. So I won’t also give them the help they are asking but rather encourage them more to learn bitcoin investing on their own way, by studying how those successful investors have reached their position now.
1389  Economy / Economics / Re: Excessive Rain Can Hamper the Economic Cycle on: January 26, 2023, 06:59:31 PM
Here we are also facing a severe rainy season. It rains almost everyday and all day long, but that is normal, due to the currently season of the year. Dirt roads become impassable sometimes on the reclined parts and there is nothing we can do besides waiting. Plain, flat areas where farmers use to grow crops and let their cattle eat are completely taken by water, like a great river. But again, that is normal because the nature has been behaving like this since a long time ago.

We should adapt ourselves to this reality and prepare for times like this. For an example: don't spend too much money investing on crops that might be lost to the excessive rain, build houses on safe terrain, make sure there is a decent water flow mechanism in houses and city, prefer projecting and developing suspended buildings.
Well, January here is also a time of rainy season. But I must say this year was even more damaging because due to non stop raining, our place also ends up in flooding that cause to end some human and animals lives, and that has never happened before. Even if people have prepared for this rainy season, but we are not prepared for the flood. That’s why suspension of jobs and classes were observed, and I think the most affected were those stall business owners who can no longer sell for few days because of the flood, leaving their own families starving.
1390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 23, 2023, 09:17:45 PM
Not a bad idea, if you do not mind to receive several emails and check them for the bonuses.
Also, obviously one is not supposed to sign in any casino that crosses one's path, shady casinos can also use the same technique for their own bad intentions.

Not sure how many reputable casinos around here send bonuses to inactive accounts to see if they can make them gamble, though.
Personally, my point is since you have registered in that certain casino, regardless if you become inactive right after, you are giving them the chance to contact you and let them send some bonuses for gambling. This is one of their strategies too so they can make you active in their casino again. It’s up for you if you bite their bonuses, but if you are not interested though, better ignore it and don’t mind it.
1391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will crypto banks replace traditional banks on: January 23, 2023, 08:58:18 PM
Cryptocurrency continues to play a role in the global economy, but this does not imply that Bitcoin or cryptocurrency will replace traditional fiat banks. The government begins mobile banking and digital banking to change how people manage their assets without going to the bank. Although they do not use cryptocurrency, they do provide a digital experience. Fiat currency will exist and cannot be replaced by cryptocurrency.
Fiat will stay for good even if crypto usage will become rampant. And besides, crypto is designed to be an alternative payment over fiat so it will never replace the position of fiat, instead they should work hand in hand to create prosperity in the global economy. That way, people will also have more freedom to choose which mode of payment that they feel most convenient for them.
1392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your take on this crypto gambling use case idea? on: January 23, 2023, 08:35:23 PM
For me, i think a casino accepting only its own token for gambling activities on its platform will only limit such a casino, which in turn will greatly affect its user based, many gambling who would not like to convert their money to the token of that casino will have no choice but to stay away from from the casino..

But on the other hand, there is some possibility that such move might be a great idea, which if the casino succeeds, the token will definitely do well in the market, but this also depends greatly on how interesting the game in question is, and how heavy the casino are able to market and promote the  game as well as the casino..

Long and short is, there is a possibility of success, but it will take a great effort and resources, as well as stress, is your friend ready to do or pay whatever price required?
Yes, it would be possible and will only succeed if the games are interesting and irresistible. Otherwise, they will not take the risk of converting their crypto into your tokens and just look for other crypto casinos that will accept crypto to crypto transactions. Probably, there is also possibility that your idea about token will succeed if majority of the gamblers will also love the idea and will try out gambling using your token.
1393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 23, 2023, 07:54:26 PM
  • 5. Credit Card Fraud
At gambling websites, it is very typical to see thieves using stolen credit cards. If they can get the card to work, they can quickly and easily cash out. Cybercriminals can use a stolen credit card to top up an online casino account. From there, they can withdraw in cryptocurrency.
That is why it is good to protect your phone against sim swap attack, if OTP is not received, the scam will not be successful. But the most important thing is to protect your card pin, if protected and not known to scammers, they will not be able to withdraw from your bank. In my country, this type of scam is common, the scammer will call you, doing as if they are from your bank, ask you about an OTP sent to your phone or asking about your pin. There are some that do not require pin, but do not give scammer OTP sent to your phone, even do not bother to talk with them at all.
This is also quite common in our country. You’ll be only surprised seeing someone got your number and pretend that it’s the bank representative. So it would be wiser not to entertain texts like this or strangers suddenly asking about your OTP. And immediately report the incident to your nearest branch so that they will take action about this and you will have better security on your own credit card.
1394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 23, 2023, 07:33:18 PM
There will be no reconciliation from me if that were done to me. I don't get why people need to hand financial matters over to other people that clearly aren't professionals. No matter how closely related you guys might be, if something involves money, that blood connection is at risk of being severed due to greed and lust for money. Luckily, the winner still got more than half of the winnings, because if not then that will be a long court battle or worse, violence might ensue.

This would have been avoided if the winner traveled to collect his/her winnings and just kept a low profile.
I can’t say no reconciliation but maybe it’s hard to forgive and forget the person who will did this to you. Because as long as money is involved, everything will turned out into negativity as money can bring out the evil side of us. However, if I were the real winner, I would never trust any person, relative or not. I should be responsible enough to claim it on my own, and then take the winnings as if no one has happened. At least, only my family will know about it since they will also benefit from the money I won.
1395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Basra Stadium Stampede (football match). on: January 22, 2023, 11:59:02 PM
Should be more on the organizer's fault because they should have anticipated that there will be fans who will really try and force to get in even though they don't have tickets. Beef up the security around the perimeter and tighten up entry points to make sure that they will not be able to get inside the stadium. Pretty sure they already realized that there are a lot of football fans in the area that would really love to watch the game, so maybe they could have set up large viewing screens outside of the stadiums too. What a sad day for Iraq and Oman, especially to those families of the dead.
I also believe that the fault is on the organizers because they have failed to secure strict security knowing that there could be a lot ticketless fans who would die to enter the stadium just to witness the game. Although the fans are also at fault because they never show discipline, but I think the organizers have consider to tighten their security before the event so that a possible stampede can be avoided. I guess in all unexpected events like this, it’s always the organizers and the security on duty are always the one to be blame.
1396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde on: January 22, 2023, 11:32:37 PM
Here's what Yarde has to say about the fight, he wanted to go for a knock out:

Quote
"Fact. That is what I'm trying to say. I don't think it is to do with anyone but myself. I had a mindset when I started boxing and, the second I tried to change it or listen to people asking if I could go 12 rounds, I went away from what I knew.

"I know why the Kovalev fight didn't go my way, I know why the fight didn't go my way in the amateurs, I know why they gave the decision to Lyndon Arthur in the first fight.

"When all these things happened, it was when I went against my natural instinct and what I said I was going to do from the beginning.

https://www.boxingscene.com/yarde-looking-points-beterbiev-fight-he-wants-ko--171850

So meaning he want's to go 100% and look for a knockout in this fight. He doesn't want to go full 12 rounds because he knows he might get the short end of the deal again just like in his amateur fights and some on the professional ranks.

Let's see if he has want it takes to knockout the Russian here, no one has done it before though, just saying. So it will be very different for Yarde to do that unless he hurt Beterbiev very hard and then he goes for that knockout.

Well, he said it himself and provide facts indeed. The Kovalev fight didn't go his way and his amateur fights didn't go his way as well, so, the big question here is, what makes him think that defying a Russian-Canadian monster will go into his way? And why this time when he faced a much weaker opponent but still fate didn't go his way? Things are getting funnier while the fight date is getting nearer and nearer.

Probably just his self-confidence though, I mean every boxer has this idea that they can defeat anyone in the ring, even if it has a 0 lost and has been knocking down his opponents.

And it could he could larger and boost his psychology that he can defeat him because the fight is going to be in his country, so he has what we call homecourt advantage but not sure if this is true in boxing. So yeah, we will see if he has what it takes, I mean accepting it shows that he has big balls already, but facing him in the ring could be different for Yarde when he taste the first punch of Beterbiev.

If Yarde will not speak for himself, then who’s gonna do it for him? I think that’s one way of showing the public that he’s also capable to beat Beterbiev, although his own words are quite exaggerating when it comes to the public’s opinion. But let’s see if he can really prove his words, Beterbiev is a dangerous boxer, so he should outperform him so he can make an edge in the ring.
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: January 22, 2023, 10:56:50 PM
Inoue needs to grow His career Up and he will not have it if not taking one step forward , he had been dominating the Bantamweight division for years and I think he becomes boring not having a best opponent so this is the best move to challenge His skills and capacity, though Fulton is really strong and skillful , yet Naoya is his best opponent for this title match.
Inoue requires a new challenge, and I think moving into this super bantamweight could be the best decision he could ever do so that he can also see growth in his boxing career. Although the date of fight and the place of venue is still tentative, but it would be obvious that it will be an advantage for Inoue if it will be held in Japan, but of course whoever will have the best performance inside the ring will always have the edge and become the new phenomenal fighter.
1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This Smells Like Hypocrisy on: January 22, 2023, 10:40:16 PM
Aren't those sports and games that you mentioned served a huge part in Japan's culture? Maybe that's the reason why. While it may seem like it's hypocrisy, these events and sports that you mentioned doesn't also seem to push lots of gamblers to the edge and into addiction hence why they allow them under the direct supervision of the government. Dice, slots, cards, roulettes, most of these casino games finish fast, and people lose money fast with these games too, and they are more prone into addiction and getting into debt compared to those games/sports you just mentioned.
That’s also the reason I’ve been thinking of. Horse racing and lottery could be part of Japan’s culture and so they have to restore it and continue practicing. While most of the casino games will only exist for the house edge, gamblers will only resort into losing their funds and may even drown into heavy debt if addiction becomes uncontrolled. So I cannot blame the government of Japan if the rest of the games are banned, except for horse racing and lottery as they also contribute funds to the government.
1399  Economy / Economics / Re: After Budgeting, How Do I Deal With Unexcepted Expenses? on: January 22, 2023, 09:58:19 PM
It depends what the "unexpected expenses" are. If it's overspending on stuff, then you need to discipline yourself with your spending. On the other hand, if they're like unexpected medical bills and stuff, then there's nothing you can do but to try to increase your income.

As for being discouraged — if you don't budget, you're likely going to be in a far worse situation if you didn't budget.
That is why we need to include in our budgeting emergency funds so that if there are unexpected expenses that will arise whether it’s emergency or not, we can still cope up with that expenses easily. But we should stick to our budgeting and observe discipline, otherwise we will end up suffering from a heavy debt.
1400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What could have Satoshi faced if he made himself known from the beginning on: January 21, 2023, 11:45:49 PM
If Satoshi was known then there's no doubt that Government would really be trying out their best to get a hold of him and trying to convince or even force him out to stop on what he had created.
It is really that no brainer on what they would do or even kill satoshi to break down the morale of Bitcoin supporters but pretty sure it wont really be that something simple to happen.
It is really good to have on this way on which he decided to remain that anonymous and never tend to come out on the shadows.

Even if they catch Satoshi now, they won't be able to stop Bitcoin because of the way it was designed. The cryptocurrency has a lot of nodes and miners supporting it worldwide, so it would take a lot of time and effort to shut it down for good. Not even Satoshi would be able to do anything about it, as it's all about consensus.

Because Bitcoin is open source, any compromise on the Blockchain could easily trigger a new chain with its own set of rules. It's virtually unstoppable. They only chance governments would've had to stop Bitcoin was back in its very beginnings. Kudos to Satoshi remaining anonymous since day one. I hope he stays that way for the good of Bitcoin and the whole crypto/Blockchain space. Just my thoughts Grin
The government cannot do anything anymore to stop bitcoin because its usage and adoption will be here for good already as even Satoshi don't have its full control anymore. So even if authorities will take on hold to Satoshi and accuse him of how bitcoin destroy fiat and central banks, that won't create any positive result because the bitcoin miners and owners now are now in full control with bitcoin, and not those third party or entities.
