1421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 15, 2023, 07:58:50 PM
If the strategy works the bettor will make huge returns compared to the bet amount but there is no reason for this strategy to work every time. You should make bets on who is the favorites to win the game based on the players strenth, current performance and lot of other factors depends on every game so don't simply go with against of odds which means high rewards with slim chance of making it.
I guess that’s how gambling works uncertainly. Even if you bet at the crowd’s favorite or at the underdog, there won’t still guarantees that your bet will work that’s why betting should be made based on individual’s performance level, current statistics of the teams, or just simply looking out for the best available odds.
1422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is it becoming a thread for casinos refusing paying very huge winnings? on: January 14, 2023, 11:54:04 PM
It's possible that they don't have the money ready and that's why they resort to just reason out that some bugs or glitches has occurred during the spin.

Or they don't just want to pay and doesn't feel that the winner deserves it. You know the management of some casinos are like that, even if the winner is a rightful and genuine winner, they can have that emotion and just have to say some reasons and refuse to pay.
That could be possible too, as most of the shitty casinos would only want to consistently gain profits but not responsible enough when it comes to paying huge winnings. Though let’s say the machine is really malfunctioning, but at least they should have fixed it completely before any game to avoid future troubles. Because if this will always be the scenario, in just few months they will completely lose their customers because they are not reliable and responsible when it comes to payout.
1423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe 2023 betting. on: January 14, 2023, 11:27:38 PM
I know gamblers may bet on any event that would eventually declare a winner. But, I don't think most casinos are offering a betting line for miss universe, I'm not sure but I think it's because most gamblers may not be interested in watching this international pageantry event.
I tried searching for it, out of curiosity if there are an actual betting line for for crypto and non crypto casinos, though I found some, but when I visit their website it's not available.
I have not searched the site but I also don’t think gamblers will be interested if there is any because I believe most of the gamblers would prefer to bet more on manly things, most particularly on sports matters. However, I’m not saying this in general as some gamblers would still want to, but personally, I don’t want to bet with girls thing like this pageantry.
1424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How wrongful can this go? on: January 14, 2023, 10:59:46 PM
I don't like giving out my private information for any project or platforms online and I have no choice but to provide wrong personal details in order to maintain anonymity, how bad can this get if anything happens to the website system?

Is this a wrongful approach to online casinos that requires KYC? Or any of you have a better solution? There must be someone like me on here that have their ways around this. Share ideas if you can.

It's obvious, if you give your personal info and it by chance it was leaked to the public or to the bad actors then they can used it. There are cases in some altcoin projects that the personal info of some bounty hunters and their customers and investors have been breached and it went down to the black market and the hackers sold it there.

I guess it's the responsibility of the casino itself to really protect our data. Not sure if casinos are required to be like GDPR compliant.

https://gdpr.eu/
Giving out your personal information online is really risky because once the account is hacked, it is certain that your personal details are already in danger as hackers may use it for illegal purposes. Although I know it’s a wrongful act, but for security purposes, some gamblers have kept their personal information and instead use other names in order to pass the KYC requirement. However, if anything happens to the website, you will also find some troubles retrieving your funds if you provide wrong information to them.
1425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another lesson for those that are using custodial exchanges and wallets on: January 14, 2023, 09:59:28 PM
So they're only stealing 10% of your money. They should call it a bail-in, that's what banks would do.
Yeah, basically holding you ransom to continue to use their platform, simply because they keep ten percent of your money. It's basically a built in fee for leaving them, and means that you'll never truly own all your money. It's a weird take on things, and I'm not sure how they've built up a client base with that sort of rule put in place. At least with centralised exchanges/wallets they don't actively advertise they'll steal your money.

Really odd decision, and they almost pass it off as a positive feature Tongue.
Yeah, this one is really odd. I don’t think if all their clients will agree to their own policy in the long run as they will eventually realized that this a clear stealing of their own hard-earned money. Although this could be a reason too not to leave the platform because of 10% remaining deposit, but if clients have known this before or they are already aware, surely this platform will never get one. And might as well some clients will sue them in the long run once they constantly deducting 10% from the whole deposit every time they do withrawal.
1426  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: January 14, 2023, 09:43:49 PM
Yes, it does especially when your job does not come with a high income.  Not everyone is lucky enough to get a high paying job so having a side job to generate extra income to support your main income always helps. I know it has help me and improve my financial status for some extent. Besides, earning extra cash aside from your salary comes with certain feeling if you know what i mean.  Wink
Having a side job is already an advantage regardless if you have high or low main source of income, because the fact that it becomes your additional income, that means you have higher chances to achieve financial stability. It’s always great when you know you can depend from not just one but two or three sources of income, that will help a lot so that you won’t face financial struggles and this will actually improve your way of living as you consistently gain good profits from different sources.
1427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making post for merit on: January 13, 2023, 11:53:56 PM
I agree with you about merit can't find us but having good post on several board with huge smerit transaction will make us easy how to earn merit.
It just depends on how likely you are to realize it and how capable you are of doing your best there.
Quality posts only depend on who judges you and benefits from your posts, and this will differ from one user to another. Subjective, of course even if it looks good to me.

This habit pattern actually doesn't need to be done just because of your desire to get merit, but also because you are able to master what is being discussed. Of course the intention to be better should push you to make even more effort, including improving your quality by reading more.
It’s not the meriting system that we should set as a goal why we are here in the forum, since we are here to learn and to gain at the same time. But since this merit system exists, it adds more color so we can put more effort on our post, and to make it more meaningful on the eyes of the other members. And when some members see it valuable to them, they learned from it, so eventually they leave you merits which I think the poster also deserves some recognition.
1428  Economy / Economics / Re: Your way of living the wage what you need to live normal life on: January 13, 2023, 10:59:16 PM
Commenting on and proposing solutions to current problems is always simple. However, in fact, it is extremely difficult. I concur that apartment prices are frequently excessive in big cities. Aside from that, renting a condo or apartment is expensive due to the limited years of use of the building. Rents are also expensive because it costs a lot to buy land in a big city.

I do not have many ideas for the UK and Europe, but people in Canada and the United States can look for work and it is not hard unless someone is selective. In addition, there is always the option to relocate to other states in order to obtain a wage that is sufficient for the standard of living.
I believe everything these days have become costly and not affordable at all even from the rent up to the items sold in the market. So expect that companies would hardly consider increasing the wages of the workers as not the workers alone are affected but even big companies too are struggling for profits. However, it’s still a great feeling and satisfying for workers if we can be paid according to our efforts and skills, so we can be more engaged and develop more passion to our individual jobs.
1429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It good For The Casinos And The Accusers If .. on: January 13, 2023, 10:32:05 PM
Is It Good For The Casinos And The Accusers If the casino operators decided to post a disclaimer that they will not answer accusations here in Bitcointalk but prefer to address them on other platforms that they think are fair and moderated like Askgambler and other platforms?
What's your take on this I don't want to be specific but the question applies to all casino operators.
I would say it’s not good for both of them but maybe it’s an edge on part of the casino operators especially if they have these dirty moves in the casino that will be questioned automatically once find out in the bitcointalk forum. Because we all know gamblers will eventually help each other so once the accusation will be post in bitcointalk, it will create a lot of support answers made by other forum members, and this thing might be the thing too that the casino operators want to avoid as one problem could also lead to another problem. Well, that is the consequence if the casino is not transparent to their gamblers.
1430  Economy / Economics / Re: Third of world economy to hit recession in 2023, IMF head warns on: January 13, 2023, 09:59:21 PM
Recession is fine, as long as there is no inflation, recession means we are recovering. Think of it as if you are sick and got a fever, but now you are taking medicine which makes you sweat a lot more. Normally in a healthy person that much sweat is not nice, you would consider that is a bad thing, but in this case a sick person would know it's there to drop their fever by sweating.

This is the same, it is a distasteful thing to have recession, we would prefer not to have it, but if fixes all the inflation issues and goes away in a year then it's good. Remember that period between 2008 crisis and 2011? We went from trouble to nice slowly, it could be that slow again.
Hopefully that would be the next goal, to recover from a temporary economic decline brought about by inflation matters. But this would mean another long process to take and it could mean a year or two, hopefully. So maybe the best thing to do for now is to prepare ourselves more so we can combat if there are possible next recessions that will happen.
1431  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: January 13, 2023, 09:43:04 PM
Okay, maybe most people complain about conventional stores because the prices offered are higher than the prices offered by online stores, it's natural for you to be in a situation like now, economic turmoil occurred in various industrial sectors and was accompanied by inflation. definitely looking for the best price to save money in the current circumstances.
After I read the book a few days ago, it turned out that it is normal for a business to be disrupted by new innovations and if for business people to be unable to balance or adapt to changing times.

It's true, the stores in my area all sell at a higher price than the online stores, and we all try to save as much as we can, so it's difficult to support the stores close to home. We are also in financial difficulty, how can we help someone, and if we were in that situation, I don't think they would help us either.
Those grocery stores should change to catch up with the trend, or else they will soon be eliminated, that's the law of business. No one can help them except themselves.
Right. It’s not that customers will adjust just because they are our neighborhood, the store owner alone should also initiate ways so he can cope up with the competition in business. Or he can also sell online using his items, but most likely in a cheaper price too as most of online items are not totally costly. However, if there are options too that we can help them, that would be great, but for now everyone is affected with this inflation, so we should always be responsible for our own survival.

Despite that I'm new and i haven't earn merit, but i believe with research and time i will earn merit, i will be happiest person the day i will earn a merit.

The question, though, is why. Why are you so concerned with earning merit?

You can still utilize most of the features on this forum regardless of earned merits or your rank. You can still post, create threads, and comment on other people’s posts. You can still ask questions and get answers from other members of the community. So why do you care so much?

I supposed that OP is trying to earn merits so he can be qualified to apply in a signature campaign, that’s the most possible reason I can ever think of. But you know OP, do not be obsessed with earning merits this time as  definitely its not a race. And the fact that you are still a newbie, so you need to gain lots of ideas and insights first so you’ll be a quality poster in time. And when that happens, no need to chase for merits as they will slowly be given to you by some reputable members once they start benefiting from your post.

1433  Economy / Economics / Re: Americans are once again quitting their jobs at a growing rate on: January 12, 2023, 11:31:16 PM
I wonder why people are quitting their jobs? I know the most reason would be due to low salary, but how can they survive if they're not working? I think any people will accept any jobs even though how low the salary is, rather than become unemployed and doesn't earn anything. So IMO, they've already find a job that paid very well in private, which is like a programmer where they got paid with Bitcoin and they have a chance to publish it, so the government think they're not working, but the truth they're working in their home.

Not a good reason to quit since crisis still occuring and they will go broke if they quit without having an alternative profit source. To many people accepting low salary jobs at the moment just to survive the ongoing crisis and maybe this kind of incident maybe a part of protest to the government to do something related to this issues. But all of this are just temporary since those guys will find job after they realized that they cannot do anything with these issues and they in badly need of money.
Well people these days have learned to be appreciative even in low paid jobs as inflation is now uncontrolled and they would surely suffer the consequences if they cannot make a sustainable income. But if they have reasons to quit because there are already well paid jobs waiting outside, then why not? After all, people will eventually love their new work as long as they receive high salary and that their efforts are well compensated too.
1434  Economy / Economics / Re: These Are the Top 10 Most Profitable Side Hustles in 2023 on: January 12, 2023, 09:18:09 PM
Almost all of them require training, so the first paragraph of that article is misleading and they even mention the requirements themselves:

Quote
ZipRecruiter analyzed listings to identify jobs that can be done part-time with few or no starting requirements and ranked them by average hourly wages

  • Craftsmen include specialists like carpenters, metal workers and glass blowers. Certificate programs, trade schools and community college offer training.
  • Sales specialist
  • QA reviewers can work in a wide range of sectors like food safety, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and software.

So, first you need training, so it's not like you have no clue you start working, you must go through training and learning, and if you're not good at it, then you don't get the job, just as QA, it's not like you go in the first day and they hand you a food bag and you're delivering pizza, you need to know how to do it and you might be a total wreck so you get kicked out before actually working even 1 minute.
As for the "sale specialist" how the hell can one be a sale specialist when he has no experience in sales whatsoever?
In order to be a sale specialist you must have at least basic knowledge so this is more like getting a better job than your past one!

"Few" requirements, to be a specialist, lol!

Well, everything comes with process and definitely have no shortcuts, so trainings are very much essential so that you will suit to the job title and you will know eventually the do’s and dont’s of the job. These type of jobs will only be profitable if you also do them with experience and skills, otherwise you will not be an effective worker so you end up messing around than working to be productive.
1435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We have been told: Invest only Extra money in bitcoin on: January 09, 2023, 09:21:37 PM
If it's money that can't be lost, then I definitely won't use it to invest in bitcoin, it's too risky not only for me but also for my loved ones. Bitcoin is a good investment that can be profitable but it also has risks so I always stand my ground, only invest with money that can be lost and when I run out of money, I choose to ignore it.
For me, every cents counts and I can’t bear some losses especially if all were those from my hard-earned money. But if ask whether to invest or not, I would not consider having extra money but what I should first look at to is the amount of risk that the investment has. If it’s for bitcoin, then I would take the risk and prepare for some losses, but if it’s another crypto investments, I won’t take the risk in the first place and just continue saving my money.
1436  Other / Archival / Re: online lottery games on: January 09, 2023, 08:55:56 PM
One of the major issue on Lotto game is the number guessing. It is not all gamblers that good with number guessing. That is why I don't normally play Lotto but once a while.  Your question one is probability, Lotto is purely a guess work and it is not easy to guess set of the numbers correctly so I won't say you should bet with a high figure of fund to loss all. But it is a personal decision.
And I don't think the city have any terminology to sort number but as a player you have to sort it out by yourself.
Lottery betting is certainly a game of chance and luck, if you don’t have that, you will never be profitable from lottery game. But I believe some lottery bettors have their own way of guessing the numbers that will come out, some do good analysis, while others just go for random betting. Personally, I don’t see it working for me, that’s why when I start betting, I usually bet with a small amount.
1437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 09, 2023, 08:20:10 PM
I was going to add the Money Line bet but it looks like someone else already did.  This I'd say is a nice solid start for those whom are new to sports gambling and are looking to get in to sports gambling, but I would also add that the most important thing is knowing what you're doing as in knowing the game.  If you're just throwing up random bets, not knowing the game or the players, your liklihood of winning these bets is not very good. So a word of caution when it comes to just throwing up uneducated bets, it's likely to not end up in your favor.
In all games that a gambler will bet, basically there should be an established knowledge on that certain game so that the gambler will bet based on his acquired knowledge on the team or the players, and not only because of his own instinct that this or that team will win. Obviously, if a bettor knows no everything, and just end up random betting, his chances of winning is very rare.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 09, 2023, 07:58:43 PM
Betting can be made using predictions generated by artificial intelligence systems or bets can be placed using automated betting bots managed by artificial intelligence systems. But i would never want the AI to decide on the bets. Because all the ambiance of betting would be lost. AI has no feelings or interests. If i bet with artificial intelligence, i cannot experience the excitement, calculations and ambition i experience while betting. Traditionally, i would continue to gamble and so i voted no.
You have a point too. If AI will be used to bet for us, we will not feel and experience anymore the thrill and excitement we may found from betting. Because admit it or not, being a gambler is not just all about winning profits, but it’s also one way for us to become entertained and be satisfied with whatever game we bet, regardless of that bet end up a lose or a win.
1439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: January 09, 2023, 07:36:39 PM
The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?
Some countries lottery/gambling is legal and some countries lottery/gambling is illegal, if you talk about laws, it depends.

I mean, there are lottery companies that are illegal and there are legal ones, if the user wins the lottery the lottery dealer doesn't pay, let's say the lottery company is legal, if the winning user has enough proof of his winnings that user will get the lottery and vice versa it is illegal to have no hope for that user.

In the case as you mentioned, it seems legal, it is marked that the user is likely to get the lottery.
Right, as there are certainly legal and illegal operating lottery. But if the said lottery is legal, if the bettor has provide valid proofs that will point him as the winner, then the legally operating lottery should abide with the rules and have to pay the winner his winning amount. Otherwise, this legal lottery will be subject for closure once proven that it’s not following the lottery rules and policies implemented by the government.
1440  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You Learn More from Losses than from Wins on: January 08, 2023, 11:37:46 PM
Remember the first trading lesson you learned as a newbie? Did it come from a win or a loss? A loss teaches you about the reality of the market, protects you from becoming cocky, and humbles you. When you are a beginner trader, a small loss is not a terrible thing. Losses teach you proper trading risk management strategies and techniques and respect for the market and prepare you for long-term success.

Remember the first lesson you learned as a beginner trader? Did it come from a loss or a win?
Personally, I have my fair share of losses during my first months in trading. I know trading is hard and quite complicated so as a beginner, I will never expect to make a successful trading. TBH, those losses I had experienced has been my great challenges in crypto that made me stronger and smarter today. Those losses had made me improve and enhance my trading skills and strategies, but I believe there will always be inevitable losses in trading regardless of our high expertise and knowledge in trading.
