Is it legal to have one as long as it would only be used for legal transactions?

It is most likely illegal to provide a service like that since all financial services need to comply with AML/KYC regulations.
1422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can I do with a small amount of BTC? on: March 07, 2015, 04:53:36 PM
Spend some (ever had a pizza for BTC?) and keep some  Cool
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's year 2050 and Bitcoin is the world currency... on: March 05, 2015, 01:44:27 PM
1. The distribution of Bitcoins is actually getting better

2. The largest company losing Bitcoins would result in the price going down. Reduced supply doesn't increase demand, unless maybe if there's consensus on reducing the total number of Bitcoins. Do you buy an asset if the biggest investor is an idiot? No, you don't.
1424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Everything Be Decentralized? on: February 26, 2015, 04:00:07 PM
The problem is we have people like Bill Gates not fully endorsing Bitcoin because they are scared of its decentralized nature.

That's not what he said. In the videos where he talks about Bitcoin he says that he's concerned about criminals using it, but he likes that it's cheaper than traditional payment methods.

A few members of the Bitcoin community are actively taking steps to make it more difficult for criminals to use Bitcoin, but we need more.

I say: Yes, you can! Imagine, that the right ethereum-agent could do all administrative work for a city!

Can you do that? Most Ethereum-related things I've seen are rather lame.

1426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Everything Be Decentralized? on: February 21, 2015, 03:09:32 AM
Bitcoin, being used/placed into a centralized system, will always end with massive failure or loss, IMO.

Does that mean you'd prefer not having the Winklevoss ETF? (even thought that could be a massive boost for Bitcoin)

I don't think everything should be decentralized.
Centralized has it own advantage.
It can respond much faster.

Okay. I just saw people saying that a few times now and wanted to comment on that.
1427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Should Everything Be Decentralized? on: February 21, 2015, 02:44:47 AM
Some people in Bitcoin are arguing that everything (or most things) should be decentralized. I firmly disagree with them, and here's why:

1. There's only a limited amount of world-class programmers - if they are working on 1000 different projects it's very likely that 950 of these projects won't be used by more than just a few people - effectively wasting a lot of time that could be used to make a huge project.

2. Usability: Most projects that are trying to "decentralize" are not user-friendly at all. Companies however are building very user-friendly software and manage to actually attract a lot of users (see: coinbase.com)

There are certainly a few cool projects that are decentralized, but most of them will probably remain to be unknown by the general public.

Comments?
1428  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: February 20, 2015, 10:59:07 AM
I posted in this thread 1.5 years ago and the most important questions have not been answered:

Where exactly are these attractive single girls between 18 and 25 who use Bitcoin? And what are their phone numbers?
1429  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Raiffeisen verbietet mir Bitcoin. Welche Bank in Österreich geeignet? on: February 17, 2015, 11:42:56 PM

1430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use IRC? (why or why not?) on: February 13, 2015, 09:20:21 AM
No. I'd rather have multiple teeth pulled.

I went to the dentist just when you posted this comment  Cheesy

I don't even know what IRC is to be honest , is it something like TeamSpeak or what , I see it a lot on UserCP and profile to complete on some forums .. not sure what is it for exactly tho

IRC is a protocol for text chats. There are many servers using this protocol. Most Bitcoin related channels (IRC chats are called channels) are on the Freenode network. Join  here

Dagegen gibt es Gesetze.

Welche Gesetze?

"Silk Road", "CryptoLocker", etc.).
1432  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Raiffeisen verbietet mir Bitcoin. Welche Bank in Österreich geeignet? on: February 11, 2015, 03:15:23 PM
Basierend auf was?
Mir ist kein vergleichbarer Fall bekannt. Dir etwa?

Welche Bank in Österreich geeignet? on: February 11, 2015, 01:56:07 PM

Welche Bank in Österreich geeignet? on: February 11, 2015, 07:21:40 AM
"Ok, legen Sie bitte genug Bargeld bereit; ich komme gleich, löse mein Konto auf und nehme das Guthaben in bar mit." Cheesy

Etwa so hab ich das gemacht. Ich rate auch Freunden und Bekannten die bei Raiffeisen sind die Bank zu wechseln.
1435  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use IRC? (why or why not?) on: February 11, 2015, 07:19:00 AM
Of course I'm using IRC - not every day, but frequently.
1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any Bitcoin Foundation member here? on: February 11, 2015, 07:02:53 AM
Who will the members be voting?

My guess: Jim Harper, Michael Perklin, Vinny Lingham
1437  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you remember your first mobile phone? on: December 18, 2014, 01:57:42 AM
My first phone was from Sony CMD J5 (pre-Sony Ericsson) -  first phone with a camera was the NEC E616 in 2003

1439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + Litecoin = Nokia ? on: March 20, 2014, 05:00:12 PM
- Bitcoin and Litecoin are not companies

- I will definitely consider buying a Nokia phone if they're offering a phone that is running free software (I just returned a Nexus 5  and my experience with Apple products was more than just disappointing)
1440  Economy / Economics / Re: Winklevoss: Trying to pump before they dump? on: December 16, 2013, 10:09:23 PM
Yes, this another major problem for bitcoin, however they cant solve it, as they are tiny in comparison to some other early adopters. We already have a huge one sided distribution in favor of early adopters, who hold over 50% of the bitcoin supply. This design was built in on purpose, Satoshi himself doesnt seem to mind otherwise he would have designed it differently. Again I find it peculiar to say the least, that they are so convinced of the $40000 price tag but already want to dump.

Where did you get this number? It seems difficult to estimate the amount of Bitcoins that has been destroyed permanently and to see how the distribution of Bitcoins on exchanges and other services breaks down and how addresses belonging to the same person are connected… Of course: if your money is on an exchange it's technically a single place in control of it…
