Hi everyone,

I have the chance to bought 5 of them.

Do you have any recommendation for a USB hub ? It's seems quite difficult to found USB Hub with 1 Amp output in my country, so I will need to bough it on-line so I expect long shipping time, therefore I would like to order it quickly. Is the one shared my Ivymoss is a good choice:

https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-SuperSpeed-Charging-Adapter-Support/dp/B00RM5OF70/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1504363970&sr=8-4&keywords=plugable+usb+3.0+hub

@jstefanop: I never used those USB miner, do we need to install driver or something to use them ? Will you release a getting started guide ?

Thanks!

Check out the Superpbag hubs...I personally use those too test these.

A separate instructions/support thread will be started closer to shipping. Things will be very similar to the original moonlander...so you can go over and ready that thread (linked in my sig) to get an idea of how these work.

oh noooo I did not look to the forum for 3 days and now I'm too late !! sh** !! Cry

FYI asicpuppy had to readjust his stock due to some payments that were never sent for his orders.

He has put back up a couple dozen...grab them while you can Wink

For those that aren't able to place a pre-order, when's the next estimated date the Moonlander 2 would be available again?

+1

Pre-order is officially sold out everywhere (distributors and additional orders I could take). More stock will be available for immediate shipment once units are in production in November...keep in mind that all pre-order units will be shipped first, so can't say exactly when we will be able to sell more past pre-order units. Will have more updates closers to October/November.
1444  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [PRE-ORDER] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: September 04, 2017, 06:36:52 PM
I ordered 9 of these last night when the website said there were still 80 in stock, but my receipt says backordered  Undecided

Hopefully everyone else's says the same thing?  When would the backordered ones ship?

Any backordered units that were sold before the pre-order ended today will be shipped with the pre-order shipments.
1445  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [PRE-ORDER] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: September 04, 2017, 05:47:51 PM
Pre-order is officially closed! A BIG THANKS to everyone for making this an awesome success! I had to raise my batch size multiple times to keep up with demand!

Im still collecting payments for everyone that PMed me, so as long as you PMed me before today I should be able to fill all those orders...im replying to all PMs so keep an eye out, if I don't hear back from you after I send a PM for payment details I'm going down to the next person.

Also keep in mind that my distributors ordered more units than allowed for pre-order, so once these start shipping they will have stock again sometime in November (after all the pre-orders are shipped out first). So you still have a chance to pick one up.
1446  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [PRE-ORDER] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: September 04, 2017, 02:48:05 AM
What is the minimum order? Is it 10pcs?

You can place an order with any of the distributors for one if thats what you want. Im handling orders for more than 10 outside the regions covered by them.

If i take 15 or 20 you will be the one who will handle my order? how much will cost the shipping from Philippines with this amount of order?

International shipments will be done with USPS Priority International, which has tracking and delivery confirmation but its much cheaper than UPS/DHL etc. This will cost in the 30-50 range depending on how many you order.
1447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: September 04, 2017, 02:43:28 AM
USB 3.0 spec is for a max of 900 ma (0.9 amps) of 5V supply - there are variant "charging" USB 3 ports that are designed for higher though, but not all motherboards have them and not all that DO have them have all of the ports as "charging" capable.

Powered hubs would be a better option.

On a separate subject, is there any chance of a "pod" or "blade" version of this, along the lines of the old Gridseed GC3344 based units?

I have to ship out all these sticks you guys ordered first Wink Definitely stay tuned though...this pre-order was  massive success and wont be stopping here Smiley
1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: September 04, 2017, 02:41:45 AM

Your second link does not work (page not found) but the OP is shipping the devices with a USB 2.0 connector so even if your hub is 3.0, the miners will not have the additional pins to the USB 3.0-specific protocol. But the 3.0 only if you want future proofing but I would recommend getting the USB 2.0.

Actually you WANT a 3.0 hub, since these hubs are usually rated for 1+ Amps. Even though the miner does not use 3.0 data speeds, it does pull alot of power for USB obviously, so a 2.0 hub might not provide enough power.

Question 1
Thank you for the clarification, I deleted my message to avoid confusion but can you please clarify/recommend what to use to get the maximym power?

From what I gathered in the OP @ 1.5W per MH/s:

Hashing SpeedPower Amps
2 MH/s2 x 1.5 W = 3 W 3 W / 5V = 0.6 A
3 MH/s3 x 1.5 W = 4.5 W 4.5 W / 5V = 0.9 A
5 MH/s5 x 1.5 W = 7.5 W 7.5 W / 5V = 1.5 A
6 MH/s6 x 1.5 W = 9 W 9 W / 5V = 1.8 A

It seems that a normal USB 3.0 with 900 mA can only drive the unit at 3 MH/s steady state, anything above that will need a powered USB hub as "Y" cables don't work in USBs.

The hub in the amazon link was 7 ports 60 W = 8.5 W per port so it can drive the unit up to theoretical speed 8.5 / 1.5 = 5.7 MHs

Is this correct?

Question 2
In your demo screen the title bar states ... "ethminer" can these sticks be used for anything other than scrypt?

The 1.5w/MH figure does not scale. For example at about 3MH its 1.3w/MH, but at 5 MH it approaches 2w/MH. The 6MH is also not sustainable long term...that was me just showing how far the hardware can be pushed.

Ethminer is just the hostname of one of my dev systems (that also happens to mine ethereum with its GPU). Has nothing to do with this stick and it can only mine scrypt coins.

For Malaysian Miners... we can join together for group buy... please PM me

Seems like there is alot of interest from the region, I recommend you guys get together and do a group buy.

FYI answering all PMs today and collecting payments.
1451  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [PRE-ORDER] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: September 02, 2017, 05:13:07 PM
For everyone that sent a PM, I am a but behind on those, but as long as you sent me a PM with the number of units I will honor the order amount in the order I receive the PMs. I can't guarantee I can fill all of them so shot me a PM ASAP. Ill start collecting payments for those tomorrow, so please have either BTC, LTC, or ETH ready.

Reminder this is ONLY for 50+ units, or  10+ units if your in the Asia/Australia/South America regions. For smaller orders please use my distributors listed in main post. They have all upped their pre-order stock for a second time, but this will be the LAST stock update for the pre-order. I have to close out the batch soon and start ordering parts.
1452  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [PRE-ORDER] FutureBit Moonlander 2 Official Pre-order Thread on: September 02, 2017, 03:42:43 PM
Ended up ordering from asic puppy in USA because holycoin doesn't take credit cards. If you order qty 4 from asic puppy you can select USPS first class which is less than $4.

This is kind of why I asked if priority will be given to small orders first. Ten seems like a reasonable cut off. If you really want as many people to use this without inflated retail cost then low quantity ordered would achieve that.

This is a well known problem with concert tickets and scalpers

Thank you. You saved me from a pissed off at litecoin rant. I'm new to mining (kind of) and wrote a long post about how it was a catch 22 that holybitcoin doesn't accept payment in debit cards, paypal, etc but only in cryptocurrency but the purpose of this is to get more people into cryptocurrency so how am I supposed to have some if i've never done it?

And then I went on about all the excruciating hurdles I went through to get a wallet, mine and try to buy litecoin. You would of laughed probably at my bad luck and the lack of regulation in cryptocurrency.

And then I hit post in confidence that I was right and it was informative and at the same time concerning and comical and then the website is like "warning there have been X replies since you started typing this. Maybe you should read them" and I read you say "I tried the other guy" so I decided "nevermind" and erased my post.

I'm now the lucky owner of two preorders via PayPal.

I'm a good customer. I don't know why a vendor would be scared of PayPal. I rarely return things. If I buy something cheap I know I'm taking a chance it will fail, I'm not going to ask for a refund, my fault. If the thing is faulty I ask for another one and return it and explain what I tried honestly.
Example:
I bought this thing like a month ago to clean my bike
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F2Y0F94/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_pIIQzbK2VK8AC
and it came with no instructions and I keep trying to unscrew the clear plastic thing off to put the soap in it and screw it back on. Every couple of days I have another go at it trying, for like more than a month. Each time I'm thinking, am I really that weak? Did I get a bad one? But I'm patient, I just let it set in my room. Finally I decide after last try, this thing aint coming off, I'm not a p***y there must be some other reason I can't get access to this soap cannister. I turn it around and start playing with the dial and pull up on it. THE F'N DIAL COMES Off AND THAT'S WHERE YOU POUR THE SOAP IN! THAT'S TOTALLY UNINTUITIVE! You don't pour gasoline down your keyhole in your car, you don't open the buttons on your dishwasher and pour soap inside, the user interface is almost never the same place you pour the active chemical ingredient. But I'm not going to return it. I might mention it in a review. I might deduct a star for it but not if it performs well.

The main issue with PayPal payments for this pre-order is that PayPal requires shipping within 21 days. I can't fault my distributors for not wanting to risk PayPal funds this way, since they are paying me upfront before i start production.

And sadly even though you might be an honest customer, there are scammers everywhere in crypto, so doing large pre-orders like the we have to be a bit cautious. Either way I'm glad you picked up some, and welcome to the crypto family. New people like you in crypto is exactly why I built this miner for  Smiley

Do we know the outer dimensions yet? length, width, circumference, outer diameter? I need to develop some sort of rack to hold a few in place for airflow while using extended cables for the hub.

Demensions are very similar to original moonlander

Width: 25mm, Length: 58mm, Hight with heatsink will be about 20-30mm (still finalizing heatsink design for these). Components on other side of PCB stick out another 5mm or so.

Yea the issue is fixed now, if upped the allotment for all the distributors and they are limiting orders to under 10, so everyone that wants one at pre-order price has a chance to get one. I doubt stock will last past the weekend though.

Bitshopper is back online with a 10 order limit. Sorry about that guys some re-sellers wiped out his stock shortly after link went live. Everyone should have a chance to grab one in the next  hour or so that wants one.

NA resellers are still good and can take a few more orders.

It was on stock on bitshopper.de  but while I was complete my name and address it became out of stock! Is this true or something wrong with the website?

Yeah what a mess, tried to get some miners, website did go down several times, then i hit the order button -> out of stock. What is this, seriously?

One second guys working with bitshopper will update in a second. Apparently initial stock is already sold out.

Is there any chance you will sent him more stock?

Yes increasing batch size stay tuned.
