OK, so I'm a Windows user and have been mining UNO on iSpace.  Between halving of the block reward and an above reported increase in hash due to merge mining, I gather mining just UNO anymore is a disaster.  So, I may as well use the time waiting for a new Windows wallet learning about merge mining.

Is merge mining always BTC plus an alt coin or are there other combinations?  Is UNO merge mining with just BTC or are there other combinations?  What pools support UNO merge mining?
Thanks for your hash, and your interest in continuing to mine Uno.

You can now simultaneously mine Btc and 6 other coins (including Uno) at http://mmpool.org/register

Also look at xpool.ca, who just announced they have added Uno to merged mining.
Thanks for getting back to me!  I've moved two miners to MMpool and am, so to say, trying the water.  Is there any statistical info comparing MM BTC Vs straight BTC return, and also MM Alt Vs straight Alt?  (Example, if my primary focus with a given miner is BTC, how much of a BTC return hit would it take if merge mining with an Alt?  Likewise if the focus were on the Alt?)  I would expect there to be inefficiencies and would like to have some statistical sense of their impact.
If you find such an analysis, I would be interested to read it. I would not anticipate there will be any practical or measurable "hit" to your btc return as you incrementally earn more funds for your hash.

Is groupcoin traded anywhere?

I can't and won't disagree with Patman and Edgar.

So instead, I'll proudly make my daily 7.5 Uno anti-gravity purchase, and confidently transfer it to my new 0.10 wallet.

I was trying to build a Uno wallet on Ubuntu yesterday, but failed. Would be very cool Siameze if you (or someone) would write a step-by-step instruction, or a script of some sort, that would grab everything, install it and compile. I found a BCT thread that had scripts for many different coins, and I tried to modify for Uno, but didn't succeed on my first try.

I'd love to be one of the elite here who could do what you just taught yourself to do.  Smiley
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Windows wallet 0.10b (beta) now available. on: May 12, 2015, 09:52:28 PM
While the final release of the Unobtanium 0.10 Windows client is not available, this interim beta build was compiled by Myriad's 8Bitcoder from Bryce's Git, and is working wonderfully. Thank you 8bitcoder for stepping in to assist. Bryce and I and many others appreciate your contribution.

The interim Windows wallet can be downloaded from Unobtanium.uno, or from this link.

VirusTotal Result shows zero problems.

I’ve tested this release on 3 of my computers, and sent it off to several core community members to try.   My results and the feedback I have received so far has been very good.

Of course, before installing *please* backup your wallet.dat file.

This build was compiled from github.com/unobtanium-official/Unobtanium/
In my tests, I updated over my existing 0.9.5 installs, and it worked fine.  When you first run it, it will re-index the blockchain.  I sent & received coins. Locked/unlocked my wallet. Uno that had not arrived in my 0.9.5 wallet were found safe and sound in this 0.10 wallet. Connections to other 0.10 peers are are found easily.

You will notice a few small rough edges that will be ironed out by Bryce in the final release (for example, the startup image doesn’t quite fit, the “request payment uri link doesn’t go anywhere, etc) but it works fine on the important functions.

This interim release will remove most of the remaining 0.9.5 wallets from the network, relieve some concerns, give your your coins back, and give BW some space to finish up.

The final 0.10 wallets will be released later.  Please let me know if you encounter any issues. A PM would be best so I don't miss it.

Mac Users:
Sorry, your wallet is not available yet. Yes, I know...  and you're right. Our Mac user are *super* important to the Unoverse, and you deserve your wallet now. I'd be disappointed if Gekko doesn't give me some well deserved shit about this.  It is coming, and deeply regret it is not available this minute.

Are you serious?
A binary supplied by someone from the internet?
Who guarantees this binary does not steal private keys? Unless "Myriad's 8Bitcoder" is a trusted person, nothing from him should be published and even put on the official UNO page.

And posting a virustotal.com log, is total bullshit, as it can only detect things it already knows. I can compile a Windows wallet that sends the private key to me in under 20minutes. And there will be 0 virustotal.com detections for it.
A valid concern. You're welcome to wait for BW's final wallet.

It wasn't just suplied by some anonymous guy on the internet. Some trusted long time Uno community members who know this programmer reached out to him to see if he could assist, and he agreed. I was informed through the process. I feel comfortable with the way it went down, and I trust this wallet. You're 100% welcome not to trust it, or to compile your own.

Great work, well done.
Absolutely! Thanks to 8Bitcoder!

EDIT: Has anyone received any update on Cryptsy withdrawal / deposit status?
I email Cryptsy about 1 hour ago. I hope they will enable withdrawals soon, after their usual review process. I'd be patient and give them another 24 hours.
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Miners Update to 0.10 on: May 12, 2015, 09:46:17 PM
While I'm extremely grateful to 8bitcoder for building the installer, I'm also grateful to BW for his work on merged mining and this new release. It has been a ton of work, and he's not finished yet. As a community, we need to recruit and motivate some other fine coders who can step up to contribute to this project.

While this transition hasn't gone down the way any of us wanted, we are getting through this because we are Unobtanium. Uno will be stronger for it. We will continue to demonstrate how to work together and reach out to others to solve problems.

Uno is entering an exciting new phase as an ultrasecure store of value. The Unobtanium blockchain is now one of the most secure on the planet, and will continue to strengthen.  Thanks to BW for that, and our new partners at mmpool and xpool.ca, and soon others.  It is bittersweet as we will very likely say goodbye to some old mining pool friends who have served Uno well. I hope they have enjoyed the ride and will remain in our community. Thank you solo-miners and pools, for taking Uno this far and remaining loyal through the block halvings.

We're not done yet. We'e just getting started.  Watch for the final Windows and Mac wallets.

I'm reaching out BW today. Will be looking for answers I can share.

I share everyone's urgency.   Like you, I would much rather be celebrating our successes.

All PM's have been replied.  I hear you.

I'm about absolutely certain that it is only one chain. However, the windows and mac wallets have not completed testing yet...

@FK Is there a better explanation?
You are correct BC.

I'll mine it at no reward to keep things moving, but I'm not finding blocks. Is there POS?

Unobtania

it is a planet, or is it a sUN?
Well, it's not a supernova. I can promise that much.

not sure if it is not ... expand and BOOM!
LOL.  Well, ain't gonna happen.  The Uno community has been tested before, and will be again. We rise to the challenges, and grow stronger for them.

Will it help if I reload the whole blockchain? and how do I do that?

Let me run a test and try to get back to you.
In unobtaniu.conf I'll setup connect={0.10 node ip}
and try to resync the blockchain. If it works I'll let you know.

This is a follow up to EBK1000 regarding a workaround I tried on my Uno Windows wallet. I added only 0.10 addnodes to the Unobtanium.conf file in my Windows wallet. Based on my experience, I don't recommend this as a workaround. It's too much work, and the fix does not persist. After downloading the block chain, eventually the wallet drifted out of sync again. It did however recover coins received up to the point it synced with the 0.10 nodes. ,
.
In my tests I sent coins to Cryptapus' dice games and to Coinwallet.co. The coins I sent arrived without any problems. Receiving coins in Windows/Mac is where the problem lies.

If you have a 0.10 Linux wallet, you're good. If you have Win/Mac wallet, please continue to sit tight. Sending your coins will work, but receiving them on Windows/Mac is unpredictable. They are not "lost," if you send them to a Win/Mac wallet; you could, for example import our priv keys to a Linux wallet and access them.

To Developer(s): This is so unprofessional approach to upgrade that I don't even know what to say. My pool had approx 5% share in total mining and NOBODY informed me about fork. I am upgrading now but last 108 blocks mined on my pool are gone. Congratulations.

feeleep
Sorry feeleep,
I reached out through the contact form on coinmine.pl. I didn't associate your bct id with coinmine, or would have sent you pm.
Yes, this could have been handled much better by me. I am taking the well earned criticism and learning from it.

Is the merge mining code working?

Ok, successfully merge mined a block: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/block.dws?601321.htm

It required this code change:

Code:
diff --git a/src/rpcmining.cpp b/src/rpcmining.cpp
index 20aadfd..52fb24d 100644
--- a/src/rpcmining.cpp
+++ b/src/rpcmining.cpp

         result.push_back(Pair("hash", HexStr(BEGIN(hashTarget), END(hashTarget))));

I'll integrate the coin into the mmpool after some more testing.

Hi Mmpool, thanks for adding Uno and for the feedback. I've passed it back to Bryce.

Uno hash has just jumped from about 20 ths to nearly 700 ths, and difficulty from about 1 million to 29 million.
