1621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: July 12, 2023, 11:34:45 AM
Have read myself many different takes and I couldn't agree more. I understand very well the probability and math behind it. I understand very well I will in all likelihood never win the lottery (I play the euromillions and state lottery, a subscriber, in fact).

I don't count on winning it. And I don't spend much on it. In fact, I forcibly reduced on a habit, and put the savings from that habit into lotteries. So nett zero impact financially, and a slight improvement on health.

In fact, over the past six years, since the subscription means all winnings are collected in my account, it has actually turned into a minor savings account. Nett loss of course, as winnings are rare and usually just cover the price of ticket, but overall, in my case, I cut down on a bad habit... And have extra savings...

And, as OP put it, the right to dream. It's dumb tax, but I'm okay with that Wink
1622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - The road to a SIX DIGIT price valuation on: July 12, 2023, 09:47:35 AM
Struggling to come up with anything new to say about ETFs, but the first response to your OP covers the main meat. Institutions aren't sitting around waiting to get into Bitcoin, they already did. OTC has always been enough to sate institutional appetites, and even without ETFs, there are numerous ways to bet on Bitcoin without owning any (that satisfies what institutionals want anyway).

They wanted to bet on price, not own any. ETFs may have been the easiest route but the emergence of CME CBoE etc proved that the demand wasn't as the door-pounding ravenous hunger that we were told to expect.

Why should this be any different?
1623  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could Bitcoin's Price dump to Halving? on: July 12, 2023, 12:09:57 AM
Another point to consider at this stage is that there are at least a couple more crypto options that long term holders will consider today as opposed to a halving ago.

Back then, Bitcoin was the only mature and stable option, battle tested, proven.

I still consider it the only true option of it's kind but others might view at least Ethereum as the other viable one, not least considering how it has kept up with Bitcoin (and often slightly outgrows during a rally).

Could be some converts over the last few years. Or at least those who transfer some liquidity over to the... Quicker/cheaper networks. That wouldn't be me, but I know a few who have. Even USDT users have chiefly migrated from Bitcoin based.
1624  Economy / Gambling / Re: This guy gave a whole prototype of "how live roulette scam us" on: July 11, 2023, 03:54:54 PM
I see the discussion has somewhat swerved from OP's original post. My only comment on that is, proof or you're talking shit, and casino's don't need to cheat as house edge is already in their favour, and gambler fallacy plus other common behaviours actually aid the house edge, the only thing they're exposed to is variance, so they already have systems in place to prevent overexposure.

It's bad business to cheat, and other casinos would love to expose you, so if the guy's comment has any value, my question is why he hasn't made a lot of money exposing it.

That said, the best bet is to know who audits the casino's RNG. And then choose to trust that audit's methods.

6.   famososMuertos vs. leea-1334
....//::

I just played against leea-1334 and it is repeated again in the Cup (?), it is the only Div2 match that is repeated, in reference to the previous matchs, R5, I do not care, but... please! you (BSFL), You don't need to give me a chance for revenge so quickly, that is, 7 vs 3, It is not easy to overcome in 24 hours.

Feel bad for you, really, but if it were me, I'd want a rematch immediately. Bite down on the pain and lose twice to purge it out of the system, or get revenge. Either way, someone has to do something against the Div 2 leader -- I'll do my best against CLS63, as will jeremypwr, not that there was ever any doubt there.

That's right CLS63, I'm coming for ya Wink

2 more wins and a draw for the mathematical safety zone, surely we have to be aiming for more?
1626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase on the defensive about these bitcoin ordinal centralized meme coins on: July 11, 2023, 10:53:59 AM
Surprised there's still a market cap for these things. After they peaked at whatever hundred million it was all the way back in May? June? They lost so much -- and from what I could tell last I looked, numbers only held steady because of hundreds of other new pepe coin lookalikes flooding in.

In effect, inflating market cap with thousands of new "coins".

Have to give credit where it's due though, they're still struggling when they should be dead in the water now.
1627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2023 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2023, 05:16:39 PM
Just realised that we're one race away from the halfway line. Feels like time just slipped by so quickly -- it's gotta be just that I'm paying attention a lot more this season (or at least it feels like it's a nice gap in between club football's summer break).

RB's maybe 1 win away from winning constructor's (rough maths, I'm not very familiar) and Perez even 100 points behind Max is really chipping away at the points left too. Mclaren don't care. first podium in over a century, I wish I'd looked for those kinds of odds... but you know, when you do the tide doesn't go your way...
1628  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is ready for $40k on: July 10, 2023, 04:29:14 PM
In the next few months, it is hoped that Bitcoin will be able to reach its highest price again or at least reach the last ATH price.
As traders and investors must be prepared for all the conditions that will occur, must be prepared with their respective strategies.

It is hoped only by people like you, who aren't even really using Bitcoin.

The rest of the real world is not holding its breath when halving is just over a year away. Price hasn't ever really mattered (and probably won't for a long time) as long as you've got use for Bitcoin.

If you're calling yourself a trader/investor and hoping for an ATH over the "next few months", yeah, prepare for disappointment. Feel free to come back to me when I'm wrong.
1629  Economy / Economics / Re: 85% of AI start-ups will fail within 3 years. on: July 10, 2023, 12:51:43 PM
Jasper's been around for a lot more than 3 years, and have only increased their pricing so I don't think we're quite ready to see them leave just yet (pretty sure it's the same for a lot of others I've seen around since at least 2017. Fireflies comes to mind. They're products that fill problem gaps, so they went the right way about it.

Now all these new crypto AI projects are creating demand for the supply cart that's come before the horse. A lot like the 2017 "tokenisation" craze.

And then all you forum folk posting with AI rewriters, just loving it aren't you =D

Surprised no one ever made (or at least not publicised) an AI for Bitcoin mining. As in, to mine in optimum conditions, and then stop and move on to other PoW crypto automatically -- I know Minergate used to have a software for that, I used it myself. But it was 100% mining Monero Wink
1630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: July 10, 2023, 11:29:05 AM
^ Ah so that's why I haven't been getting notifications. Thought I was getting ignored haha.

Back to BSFL, sort of a blessing to have an off day, I might even just skip the answering for fun bit, just because I'm struggling to catch a break myself, credit to the sportsbraining for taking up a bit of my internal RAM.

GG LTU_BTC, I honestly thought I'd screw up because of cricket, but in the end, some powerful performances from favs in cycling took me that one win. Tough league.

Stat attack: Trofo has the highest "goals scored" so far. My defence is one of the leakiest in the top half of Div1 too... and I note that I have been getting wins against bottom table, so I'm wary of upcoming ties...
1631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2023 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: July 09, 2023, 04:54:22 PM
Sigh, tried moving around some picks on gut, took a big risk, and still end up 1.5 points behind yellow cap. Superbru as usual being really slow to update so can't even really see the leaderboard to check if I moved up/down the ranks but I'll take anything below 2 points off the pack leader.

Slowly but surely, I think I can manage that. Great Hammie finish, wouldn't you say (unless you're the prancing horse)?
1632  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: July 09, 2023, 03:12:08 PM
Lavia is being linked regularly, he’d be a good understudy to Fabinho. He was really good tor a poor performing Southampton all of last season.

Speaking of Jones & Elliot though, the Euro U21 Final kicks off in just under 3 hours.

England vs Spain - Something to watch at least.

Nice wins for some youngsters, didn't realise until casperBGD mentioned in another thread just how many Merseysiders (blue and red) are in the U21s. Guess there's always going to be hope for England as long as the youth know how to win (without conceding too!).

It is better to visualize winning from 200k to 1M than researching this, or just try your underdog tactics again Wink

Heh. Women's football not a great place to pick underdogs. Favourites win with a lot more consistency unfortunately =D
1633  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: July 09, 2023, 12:05:16 PM
@FortuneJack Tornike will definitely be missed here but moving on is there any plan’s specifically for premier league as everyone loves wagering on this particular league. Furthermore will you extend the majestic 7 to other leagues too or it’ll continue for premier league only and I hope that this promotion will be back once the premier league begins.

They just mentioned 4+1 would be back and that covers all the major leagues and club competition.

MajSev is great too, obviously, but I'm actually okay if it doesn't return (or if they increase the participation qualification. e.g. It could still be free to play but only if you've wagered a certain amount. Maybe even make it so people gamble with a 4+1 qualifying bet per round.

Don't hate me but I think gamblers should be rewarded Wink
1634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin history on: July 08, 2023, 06:04:49 PM
This is so DRY!!! You should come up with deeper and interesting facts about bitcoin. Something like Bitcoin will be 15 years by October...the first transaction between Nakamoto and Hal...the very big all-time high in the year 2020 at the peak of COVID-19... These are fun fact about bitcoin that could make your work beautiful

Please why not let's encourage the rehash writers and Chatgpt warriors. Originality is already so hard to find, the forum uncovers gems every now and then, but only because we don't keep having to look back at past laurels.

Years ago, you'd hear of all kinds of people breaking new ground. Traversing South America teaching people about Bitcoin. Getting rebels and misfits in some unrecognised republic in Syria to use Bitcoin. Now it's... shooting Bitcoin to the stars or rewriting "deeper and interesting" yet tired facts. Is that the best we can come up with?

You're crazy if you think I knew that Grin
____________________________________

When I saw Strongkored with all 'No' tennis answers, I was sure that this win is in the bag. Now tennis will be the one that ruins me.

I'm crazy if I don't think you and others in BSFL don't know stuff... you guys are so good I'm actually worried every round of fcking up. And that's just in my division, scary people await promotion.

Tennis ruined us man. Even if Rybakina wins tonight/tmrw it's a draw for me on that question, so there's absolutely no joy there =( Weird now to wait on DOTA and TdF to determine this round.

I am waiting on England to show skills in the U21 final, two Evertonians in the team, it was not possible to make different pick

Not able to watch anything since Thursday, some bad luck in real life means I'm kinda stuck reading news Wink GL to you, I picked Spain but since it's the same answer as my opponent, I don't really mind not hitting this. And it would be cool for English win since their seniors keep fcking things up!
1636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin experience a more price increase during the halving? on: July 08, 2023, 01:49:46 PM
I'll say it again here. Institutions weren't sitting around on their hands waiting for CME/CBoE or whatever "tool" that would have supposedly led to an institutional tsunami.

Remember 2017? That was supposed to be a retail-led rally but I always thought it was institutional, behind the scenes. Old money wasn't going to wait around for derivatives. They were already doing OTC buys that year.

So this institutional pipe dream of price explosion... has already happened.
1637  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: July 08, 2023, 11:49:57 AM
Damn, yeah I saw that when it came out, even posted about it here but the prize at the time was $200k (double the usual). SB really needs to promote that they now just added a zero for the prize.

I don't mind sharing that I posted wild predictions (think of double-digit goals scored per game) and that's an honest assessment of some of the ties in there. Women's football, both club and country, to me is about the top 10/20 teams which are heads and shoulders above the rest. So 10-0 games are not at all out of the realm of reality.

I would research better but even on regular 6-6s where I know shit, like Trofo, I've probably got 3/6 at best. So, not really useful I think to spend too much time researching...
1638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: July 07, 2023, 04:35:40 PM
@Trofo @ralle14 great explains, thanks.

Now that completely makes sense to me now, initially, all I understood is that they're watching the game, just like anyone else would if they're killed (I'm assuming that's the same now after you die you still get a roving cam).

What I still can't comprehend is, knowing that it's an obvious advantage, why a pro player at that level would do it... surely he knows he'll get caught?

P.S. I watched a game on Twitch for 2 mins. It was... weird.

@cryptofrka Dutch were the favourites to win and they did it comfortably against Scotland -- but they were more than 2/1 to win by the margin they needed to qualify, so that was a great pick you made, inspired.

Thankfully, a draw for me and LTU...
1639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Can't Stand POS for Bitcoin on: July 07, 2023, 09:26:15 AM
Nobody ever: PoS for Bitcoin.

OP: I hate PoS for Bitcoin!

The last time a contentious change was around, even the big blockers would never dream of a change from PoW. You know, if you really didn't want it, you don't have to actually breathe life into it.

P.S. weren't there actually PoS versions years ago?

Is Malta doing something new or they have Brazil players with their citizenship or what?
They will play in U19 Euro final against Portugal who smashed Italy with five goals like a knife through soft mozzarella cheese.
I never saw such low odds for favorite to win in final in any sport like Portugal vs Malta.

Maybe buwaytress will try one of his underdog bets on Malta with odds 55?  Grin

Not against Portugal, who even if below 16 yrs old,  I would trust them to beat Malta Wink That was a crazy game, and most of us needed BTTS, Portugal didn't care. Italy complied. Don't think I'll try for this, but since you tagged, maybe destiny is calling...

Markets not yet available for me so maybe I put my bet tomorrow.

I've definitely seen 80+/1 odds on international football. Trust me, you'll find plenty in the coming qualifiers too.

Good luck with that punt, bullrunbro!
