I should have a pretty interesting announcement on this front in the next few weeks ...if I were you guys don't buy anymore of these cheap switches (they suck and are not even designed properly), or even GPU risers. I will have something that will change the way we GPU mine Smiley

spill the beans

Cant spill everything yet, as im still finalizing design...but here are some teasers from my prototype system  Grin All the GPUs are 470s 4GB, would have more connected but only have one dev board built and ran out of 470s lol

1662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: February 21, 2017, 07:12:29 PM
Can you recommend an ATX PSU for these miners?
5PCIe Connectors / min. 400W? Since the Miner is quite silent I am not willing to put a noisy server psu next to it....
Thank you

Well you need a PSU with at least 5 pcie ports so that tends to push you up into a larger PSU than is really needed to run the L3.  The EVGA 1000w P2 is a good PSU that can be used for GPU rigs and work well for the L3.  Also the AX1200i also a good PSU, but both are oversized for this particular miner.  Maybe some other users can chime in with their experiences with some smaller PSU's, but these are my go to PSU's around here for most things.

5 PCIE power ports for this miner is way over kill. Each board is about 100 watts, so you can easily power 2 with 1 line, so 3 total (2 for boards split, and one for controller). Just use splitters (make sure they are at least 18AWG) and youll be fine...you could also double split one line to power the controller (which uses basically no current), and get away with a total of 2 pcie lines per miner.
1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 21, 2017, 07:04:41 PM
Anyone else notice that v12/12.1 is reporting about a 5% higher hashrate than pool(flypool) for polaris based cards?

For example a 470 is reporting 280H/s miner side, and 260H/s poolside average. With 2% fee should be reporting ~275H/s.

Can anyone else on flypool with polaris cards confirm...want to see if its just me or a pool related issue.

Hey, what are you wanting per card including US shipping?

I'm experimenting with gpu's and could be interested in 1 or two.

Also, photo's?

Have 6 R9 280x Sapphires Dual X cardsand two Sapphire 7970s (those two are brand new from warrenty replacement few months ago). All cards run great, few off the dual X have fan issues (wobbly, but I keep them oiled and they still spin). SOLD

All cards also have custom BIOSes and can keep them on there...currently hash at 320 S/s on zcash on stock clocks.

I dont think this will ever get released outside of China to many large farms in china they probably buy up all the miners direct from bitmain and pay them not to publicly release them

Yea there is so much insider crap going on with bitcoin/litecoin these days its pretty sad.
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.0 (Windows/Linux) on: February 13, 2017, 11:38:56 PM
Claymore, you kick ass brother.  Sped me up from 250 H/s to 300 H/s on Sapphire rx 470 and from 270 H/s to 320 H/s on Sapphire rx 480.  I wish ZEC was at something over $40/coin but at least we are on par with other miners out there.  This one appears stable as well, so it is appreciated that you took the time you needed to get it right.

Pascal + Eth would be interesting, since its pure SHA so might be able to get some nice numbers.
1669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.0 (Windows/Linux) on: February 13, 2017, 08:01:45 PM
Looks like its a wash between claymore v12 and optiminer 1.6 when dev fee is factored in at least for polaris cards

On 470s getting ~290H/s on claymore( which = 284 after 2% fee), and 282 on optiminer (which includes dev fee)
1670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 12, 2017, 08:51:23 PM
Hi Claymore, what is the estimated time of arrival of your v12 turbo charged ZEC miner? Thanks

Started final tests for most cards, I'm checking last things related to Polaris cards, I will release new version within 24 hours.

Would be appreciated if you can release windows/linux at the same time Wink

would i be right in thinking that any improvements you make to the zcash miner will aslo show on the xmr  miner as well

many thanks for your work

No...each algorithm is different and any optimization to one has zero effect on the other. Keep in mind this miner is just a fork of sgminer, which is a GPU miner that has dozens of different algorithms bundled in it.
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave on: February 11, 2017, 04:45:52 PM
Id check with your power company since you already have a significant investment before you spend anymore (im sure you have but better safe than sorry). Not sure where you live/laws there..but what your doing is illegal in most states, and all it takes is a neighbor to snitch on you and theyll shut you down fast. Just an FYI since I know alot of people that have build garage farms and found out the hard way, and its a good thing to know for new people thinking about doing the same.

Anything past 10-20 KW continuous in a residential zone is a red flag and youll get investigated eventually.

What do you think they will do to me?  Why would it be illegal?  I'm not growing weed.  I've been over 20KW for over 2yrs.  I'm not concerned.  My 400 AMP is also on a 2nd meter, so if I have to switch to Commercial, no big deals.  Hmmmm........................I also know a lot of garage farmers who are well over the 20KW range with no issues.  What law would prevent me from using over 10-20KW when I'm paying for it not stealing free power?  What law is preventing me from having 5 Teslas and Teslas Power walls that will pull those wattage?  I'm not doing anything illegal so I'm not concern.  Why would they approve my 400 AMP if I'm not allowed to use it?  Don't forget the city approves the permit and the Electric company have to certify and accept it, plus PLUG my wires into the their transformer.   What about the large mansions?  10KW is nothing and 20KW is not hard to hit to keep large Mansion cool and pools running.

So you're telling me they will approve all that just to say "SORRY sir but you're only allowed to use up to 50-100 AMP out of your standard home that is equipped from the builder of 150 AMP?  You do realize that 100 AMP @ 220V is over 20KW right?  Just 50 Amps on 220V is over your 10KW concern.  Please show me a legal case that say it's illegal to use more than 10-20KW of Power?  I dont buy this urban legend as there's so many home miners that are pushing over 50 amps easily at home without issues.   10-20KW is nothing.  I'm going to be pushing over 70KW soon.    I do believe they will be curious and come checking to see if there is a Meter failure which they did for my house.  FBI can scan via helicopters for Weed growers, grow lights have different wave lengths then mining gears.  Please stop all this Urban legend myths to SCARE people.

P.S Texas law is prepping to allow people to grow weed like in Colorado.  Now I can supplement my slowing mining income.  Please stop spreading fake rumors and put some facts behind stuff rather like I know a guy who knows a guy type of story.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/10-facts-about-Texas-new-law-licensing-low-THC-6762270.php

Im not spreading any Urban Myths lol...like I said Im helping other users here so they dont fall into any issues...your power company obviously approved it and they dont care.

As for legal case, just check your local zoning laws. What you are essentially doing is running a commercial operation in a residential area which is illegal in most towns and carries penalties/fines.

Just because you have a 400 amp service does not mean your power company expects you to use 400 amp 24/7. There are zoning laws for a reason, and thats why there is not a steal factory in the middle of your community. Of course thats an extreme case, but same applies when your running 100's of killowats of basically server grade equipment in your garage for profit. I can almost 100% garuantee if your town found out you would at the very least get a fine.

And no Im not pulling this out of my ass I own my own physical business and know how much of a bitch zoning laws are. Again 90% of home mining people do this will never apply, just a warning if you think your going to run a data center in your house and think no one is going to notice or cause issues in the future.
1673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ~30Mh Litecoin miner... Help me ID this thing... on: February 11, 2017, 05:48:41 AM
holy shit those chinese really take "mining" down to the literal sense when they deploy these things.

What your looking at is the LKETC dragon miner http://titanminer.com/?product=dragon-miner-litecoin-asic-30mhs-scypt-lketc

Im 90% sure this was a partnership between zeus miner and LK group, so they most likely use a varient of the zeus chip/board. If thats so I developed a bfgminer version with some other guys for the zeus hashboards back in the day, and all you would need is a USB to serial adapter to run the boards with a PC.

Not sure why youd still run this thing though  Shocked

So, I decided to keep modifications to LLVM to the minimum and use an external tool to modify the assembly source code for CLRX instead. This could be turned into a GCN assembly code analyzer/optimizer, which would be a fun project for the future.

Lol sounds like your building a ground up GCN software stack....quite the project from some custom ZEC ASM kernels Wink

Once I had this issue and via troubleshooting, swapped to a Corsair PSU  BOOM, one of my RX470 exploded!!!!

by any chance this explosion sounded like a "loud cracking of the whip" ?

I got something like that awhile back.... but after inspection of all rigs... seems business as usually ... what could it be?
I think so many of those cards are exploding the msi Rma team cant even replace them with the same units i just sent back 5 msi frozer 470s that fried on me and msi wants to send me back 4
Msi armor 1070/ 8gb my cards were all 4gb but i dont like 1070s for mining

not sure if i should accept

wait your saying MSI wants to send you back 4 1070s instead of your 5 470 and your contemplating accepting?? You can buy EIGHT 470s by selling 4 1070s...
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pascal eats alot of watts and exhaust alot of temp. miner unstable!!! on: February 11, 2017, 05:30:33 AM
Has nothing to do with miners...pascal is based on the bitcoin algo (its essentialy two bitcoin hashes in one with some other changes). The core kernel has been optimized to hell since bitcoin GPU days, so the reason your rigs are running hot and crashing is because this algo utilizes nearly 100% of the GPU compute die (since SHA256 hashes are 100% compute an almost zero memory dependence).

If you have pushed your clocks or voltages for ZEC or ETH its almost guaranteed to fail for pascal. Both ZEC and ETH are idling on the core while mem accesses are happening for a large percentage of core clocks, and thats the main reason they are way more stable and forgiving (unless you push the mem side of things of course).

Like somone else mentioned the current crop of GPU miners are spoiled...you guys should have mined back in the BTC/Litecoin GPU days  Grin Grin

So looks like they are still waiting on fab for chips on their next batch, and they are saying another month before they can place my bulk older. I'll update here when I get more info.
