Big, big sporting weekend indeed, Joe and Steve! I've got some tickets on here.

IPL CSK to win and to dominate in this Betbuilder:

Then semi-outsider to snatch a win at Indianapolis:

Might throw in another later Wink
1702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: May 28, 2023, 10:19:53 AM
Ah well, a draw was probably the most expected result, seems a bit naive in hindsight to pick 3-1, so my acca died an early death (first leg was actually Real and they snatched the win).

Welcome Luton Town to the Premier League... revenue for them this season was less than 18 million GBP from what I read. They now have more than 10 times that amount minimum over the next 3 years. Phew!
1703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 5000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: May 28, 2023, 08:57:48 AM
^ Man yeah, I also had money on both games, and lost out. Dortmund allowed just the 2 shots on goal, and that was all they needed not to do. Huge drama, 150k litres of beer, tens of thousands of fans, it must be a huge hangover today and all for nothing. Kind of a bummer, but in the end I always say the league table doesn't lie, so you can't really complain if you don't kill off a game despite the salvo BVB dished out. Doesn't really matter much in the end for BSFL, everyone (but 1) had the same answer here.

Which game will you guys watch? Impossible for me to choose, I naturally want to watch my team but Chelsea/Newcastle seems the most exciting on paper. @casperBGD will be watching Everton, then Valencia. Sort of envy him for watching so many important games in a day Wink
1704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 27, 2023, 01:54:07 PM
Goddang BVB haha. This is Mainz, you're supposed to cow them into submission, not let them take the lead! I know it's still early minutes but they'll need to fire it all up right now. Not time to be patient, time to blow them into submission, because Coman's given Bayern the precious goal they need.

Either that, or Koln find a way back, which I prefer as that's where my money is...
1705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +89485 units on: May 27, 2023, 12:43:05 PM
Dortmund don't need any motivation to win this final game week

Just kinda wondering this but doesnt Dortmund actually need a whole lot of motivation to win the last game if they want to win the title? Well Main lost their last 4 games horribly but Bayern might snatch that from them if they lose their last game against Mainz so all the reason needed to be extra careful on their last game though

Anyway, I kinda like this so Im taking this bet as well. Small stake though, may the best be with us ( odds are kinda horrible in this site imo )

Yeah, you're right but that's sort of what I meant -- needing no motivation is a way of saying they need no more motivation, haha. It's the title on the line and (not that anyone's thinking it) but they could actually still lose or draw and take it, if Bayern fail to win so you could argue.

Odds are always tricky to find but yeah, Sportsbet's daily price boost is big when going for longshots. These days I find it's a two-horse fight for my bets between Fairlay (really good odds at times) and Sportsbet on the price boost.

Occasionally, Stake and FortuneJack have promos that make up for odds, giving bigger value (typically, cashback or some form of insurance) but these are less frequent recently, and have small bet limits.

In fact yesterday I realised I was very late on confirming my bet, odds went pretty badly down so I only ended up getting 7.82 (I've adjusted the numbers now). Rare mistake for me, I pounce on those but got distracted making this post...

The good news for us now is that odds are 64/10. So we caught great value in any case.

Once the sheep hype reaches its peak in that all the sheep are rounded together, the wolves are let in and devour them all (well, almost all of them - some sheep are actually smart enough to escape with their lives).

I'm not expecting these sheep to have learned anything from this experiment, but if next time they unleash a shitcoin wave on a Layer 2 network, then at least that shows that the crypto community is collectively becoming a bit competent.
You say there are competent users among the sheep?  mmh I've always doubted this because whoever buys this rubbish does it with the intention that it can enrich their pockets and therefore foolishly makes the mistake and a sheep, as you rightly said, is eaten by the wolf while those few users who know well wolves will never invest a cent.  because they are not sheep but foxes.  I still see too much shit around and too many sheep.

Some sheep get away, believe they became wolves, and return for the next feeding trough, only to fall the second time. That's usually how greed works. Some do live on, believing they were geniuses, though to be fair, I might have met in my life one or two who understand it was pure luck, and retire happily as regulars.

I suppose we need all kinds to keep this wheel spinning. Bitcoin was the latest to brush shoulders with it, but that really is the beauty of it, all are free to use it as they please, and to move on when they realise it no longer suits them.

Meanwhile, haven't seen 100 sat/byte recommended fee despite mempool still towering high.
1707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: May 27, 2023, 10:29:48 AM
One last round to try and get a prize for those of us like me on the fringes. Felt like should have taken a risk with last night but in the end a draw nullifies even a home upset.

I actually still haven't got Serie A games on my ticket this week, despite some tempting odds (even Sassuolo game was over 2/1 but see how it ended up being a trap?).

That first prize winner is massive even at today's bargain Bitcoin huh. Good luck bastards.

Post stadium pics if possible -- never seen one in India. Do you also watch Football there? I read it's getting serious...
Would you believe if I say 90% of Indians are more into cricket than any other game? Yes. It's true.

So, I don't think people from India watch Football that much. More like European countries, They don't watch cricket  Cheesy

I don't need to believe it, haha. Spent 3 years collectively in India and Pakistan, not to mention Sri Lanka. Only foreigners played football there, but the reason I asked was because I'm reading more and more about how big Indian football actually is. India's about 1/7th of global population so even if only 10% of the people watch football, it's already more than 3x the population of my country Wink

Cricket is king, for sure but a friend of mine insists Kerala and Goa are football crazy (see this clip), Indians were the 7th rank in the last World Cup ticket sales apparently! This isn't even recent, Russia 2018 had the most fans from US, China... then India. And they don't even have a team at the tournament ha!

ISL is only ten years old there but already big signs they will overtake cricket (would you believe it) in at least market share, if not viewership. Then there are those who say only some teams get big crowds, and attendance is suffering because of politics (hey, what else is new right?). But I do recall at Asian qualifiers in Kolkata Indians sold out the stadiums, so clearly, there's huge support for the national team.

P.S. In the USA, after Pele came in the 1970s, they barely got their love of football up in the 50 years since. Polls say only 8% of US people say "soccer" as their favourite sport to watch 2022. Would you believe that?
1709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: May 26, 2023, 09:00:39 PM
Steve and Sportsbet are at it again, thanks for the reminder OP! Put in a fancy 3-1 win for the Hatters, though a low-scoring game is likelier.

Incidentally, Luton Town's been on my slips all of playoffs so you know how well that went, (well okay, Boro too, and we know how THAT went). I know they're the favourites but still surprised the odds aren't more balanced, yet still worth a place on one of my final accas for the season.

GL, hope to see more Clubtalk peeps come in here next season.

Dortmund don't need any motivation to win this final game week, but I wonder if Bayern could be troubled by pressure, allowing Koln to take advantage? I don't really have much else to look at (Real Madrid does look like value though) so this is my pick for tomorrow before blockbuster Sunday takes place.

My mission to end the season in a loss is going well haha.

100 units at Sportsbet on Cologne to WIN vs Bayern @8.48. Other odds: 7.80
Edit odds @7.82. Current odds: 6.40 but we'll keep yesterday's actual.

Running advantage after 66 bets: +6409 (+2)

1712  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Labs just made "Taproot Assets" v0.2 a BRC20 alternative. on: May 26, 2023, 01:34:13 PM
Actually, most people getting into Ordinals/BRC20 are the same people who got into IEOs, ICOs, and everything else and have NO idea what any of it is. They just know it's te next big thing and have FOMO. So they use whatever wallet / app that the person talking about it on YouTube / Telegram or wherever tells them to.

So in the end they will move to whatever wallet is being talked about by whatever scammer is doing the talking that day.

Kind of like the people that go and buy gold because the commercial on TV told them it was a good investment.

-Dave

Not untrue. Surprised me a many years back to hear some people "had Bitcoin" on eToro until I learnt later it was heavily advertised in London.

First wallet I ever used was Electrum, quite literally because the first legible guide I liked and thought was the most useful and not annoying said to use Electrum. It's still the one I use today, but if I hadn't heard of Ordinals from this forum first, I'd be using OrdinalsWallet (which is what Google shows first and what YTers seem to like).

So you're right. If LL's new Taproot Assets proves to be as good and easy to use as claimed, and is picked up by the YTers and influencers etc.

The most compelling one is LayerTwo Labs. No token, just Drivechains, https://layertwolabs.com/

That anything to do with BIP300, 301 I'm hearing about lately?
1713  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 26, 2023, 12:17:43 PM
Does anyone feel like the problem is actually already self-correcting even quicker than some (or say, myself) predicted? The market cap for these junk coins should be growing, with the amount of new junk entering, yet it's more or less stable (if not shrinking from first week May when it exploded).

That already means the ponzi has peaked. Or that people have moved on to alternatives. Or that the group of sheep is drying up. Or a combination of all of them.

As we, and they, roundly expected, no?
1714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: May 25, 2023, 07:27:11 PM
Need to pay attention in this thread too, KTChampions reminds me from time to time, but glad I chose well to avoid Sevilla+Valencia from a long time ago (they are still in some tickets but not important ones).

It's impossible to understand the mindset of teams, and how that translates into performance. Mallorca with absolutely nothing to play for except Conference but is that really so important for them? Now they get the better of Valencia, who are suddenly back in danger territory.

Now it absolutely messes with Barca game -- odds should even improve after this eh KTChampions? Big money opportunity or trap?
1715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: May 25, 2023, 05:38:26 PM
I would disagree if you claim that there are not enough stadiums and other facilities in India. Here we have a very popular league known as the Indian Super League, which is played in stadiums with capacity of more than 50,000. Anyway, if these stadiums are not up to the international standards, then there is always the option of upgrading them. And I am sure that the situation in China is much better than what it is in India. There is no logic in ignoring countries such as India and China for hosting rights, while awarding the same to smaller countries such as Qatar.

User tusandii is a spammer. Just report his posts, as the user never responds, writes poorly-informed content, and contributes to the general low-quality mess we see in threads.

ISL is big, also Chinese league, their stadiums are at capacity, I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing more about them over the next decade. I was actually just talking about the former in another thread -- it's big, bigger than we know, just because we don't see/read the media that's out there, as they're almost blind to Google.

I pity the guys who picked 3 goals yesterday and still didn't win, thanks to VAR (don't know why Pep was so upset, a shirt pull's a shirt pull, I felt it was soft but absolutely correct... if you've ever run on a pitch and even gotten pinched just a little it throws you off balance).

I totally forgot about sending my try as well for fun, one of those days that slips by when you think about it all the time in the morning.
So you are staying in Division 1 next season?
It is going to be a big competition next year in both Division 1 and 2 and I think BSFL will become much more popular when guys from website start competing.

Unfortunately for everyone, yes. Or fortunately, if I'm the giver of points. Worked well to back slight underdogs in the first half of season, and then no longer after that.

I personally think it's fitting that Slissy took this season -- he's maybe the oldest user active on chat at SB, hope to see him also post more often in the forums here too.

@webtricks really good to hear you finally saw the man, the legend, the Steve. Curiously, I also have (had) a liver problem, though that was more from an unfortunate encounter with a certain nasty parasite several years ago. Still drink, but nothing like the rest of ClubTalk seem to be able to chug haha.

1718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +89485 units on: May 24, 2023, 07:07:14 PM
Barcelona wiped out my multi bet yesterday (didn't think they'd be that brazen to lose two games in a row) and I just went to check the thread - maybe you were lucky with it? But no. By the way, why didn't you bet on Valladolid yesterday? The coefficient was not too high, but the probability of winning was apparently significant.
Now I think that in the next round Barcelona will have to win against Mallorca and probably even with a -1 handicap. What do you think about it?

Yeah, I wonder why myself. It must have been lower than 6/1 though for my eyes to have skipped over the bet, and for a team like that (Valladolid), that's poor value, regardless of Barca's current (unproven) bad streak.

I'm still hurting over the near-hit of 11 May (Juventus equalising in Fergie time ruining that bet), I thought that would be the season-saving bet.

Handicap -1 is only 18/10... I'd go -1.5 for a big bet to get 24/10, but that's still not great value for me, judging from their problematic end of season. It's a friendly equivalent!

1719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: May 24, 2023, 05:43:24 PM
Yeah am with Mou on this, not sure why the other managers haven't spoken up (I suspect also worried it'll bite them back at some point) but Calcio keeps finding ways to make themselves look like the most incompetent organisers of league football.

My mistake for the week ends up being what gave the yellow cap of the week, I mean Monza upset vs Napoli, but then is anyone paying attention to Saint-loup ransacking almost every single pool this season, extraordinary stuff!

I have been paying attention, and he's just getting away with it, I'm really upset with myself at not putting up proper fights... except in La Liga and I might even blow that with the remaining games as am only in 10th spot there.

I'm curious how he'd perform in Ligue 1 -- assuming he knows his stuff best in his local league ha
