I don't know why scammers are starting to target this website Most probably because they expect some people try to generate wallets for themselves with this software, directly online. And by adding a few lines of code, the clone will also save into the scammers' database all the seeds this page generates. It probably won't be an overly big list and they can be watching those wallets for a while, maybe they can steal easily some money. This is no guarantee that google will take down any website even if lot of people report it, but why stop with IanColeman fake website when we can also report fake ChipMixer website with xyz domain. Ultimate solution would be for google to stop accepting money from scammers for advertisement, but they surely won't do that  Exactly. We cannot trust Google's search results, we cannot trust Google's play store. Nothing new in this. |

The full-sized Raspberry Pis are 64-bit and I'm pretty sure you can't even install 32-bit Linux on a 64-bit ARM chip. Meanwhile it should be possible to do so by mistake on x86.
It's the other way around: both 32bit and 64bit CPUs support 32bit OS, just in case of 32bit you have some RAM limitations, and only the 64bit CPUs support 64bit OS. But I am sure you knew that. So I don't know if it was a mistake or you wanted to say/express something else. |

Payments are not handled by the cashier, it is a system where the customer can pay via a QR code printed on the product which only allows the user to view the details of the product and pay for it.

Fake payments/ Theft is basically a situation where the customer picks the product and walks away without paying for it, I am thinking about how can I possibly stop this using cryptography.
Only product details and a predefined payment button after the QR is scanned are what I intend to be public.
The main goal of this product is that the cashier should be the 2nd option for the customer.
RFID tags are kinda useful in this situation, but not exactly. I don't want some employees to remove the tag from products after the payment is made so that it could leave the store. If the payment is made for the product, then the product/tag should be smart enough to detect whether or not it was a successful transaction.
This means that the data is yours, as everybody said before, it's a closed system that doesn't need cryptography. And since you accept only fiat too, this becomes off-topic here. Plus, there are no fake payments: there are people paying for what they get and people who steal (no matter if they steal 1 and pay for the rest and so on, that's just a distraction from the logic). So you have to identify when a product that's not paid for leaves the shop. As simple as that. For this you need RFID and uniquely identified items, not cryptography. For this, when an item is scanned, you may mark it "scanned" and link it to the future invoice and when the invoice is paid, all the linked items you mark as "paid". An item is free to leave only if it's paid. Simple logic. Where would cryptography help? Why do you want to add extra layers of complexity for something that can be done in a simple way? And you said you want to avoid RFID. If you avoid that, you will want a way to find out a product has left the perimeter, sometimes being concealed between other products? How else could you do this???!? Cameras can partly help, maybe. Cryptography is .. not for this, it's completely useless in the equation. The tag doesn't have to be removed. In fact, you probably want to make it difficult to remove. There are already clothes shops where the RFID is embedded and you may not even find it easily. However, Amazon is already way ahead of you. They have stores where you just walk in, take what you want, and then leave. The store's cameras identify you and everything you take, and then charge your credit card.

If you look more carefully at the picture in the other thread you'll see that in the back of the phone there's an external HDD. So they're pretty much the same. Also if you look at the other solution's Git it tells: *It may be not recognized by Android. Please consider that Android supports exFAT/NTFS/EXT4/F2FS partitions up to version 8.1 (Oreo) You jumped too fast to the conclusion they're not similar. ... it makes very little sense. Don't you have a few bucks to spare for a second-hand laptop, or a Raspberry Pi? There's little to no support on running a node on an Android, so even if you don't have that money, you're about to pay it with time.  It can be a fun project for one who has the time, obviously. Second hand laptop may be a bit more power hungry and nowadays electricity may be expensive in certain areas/countries. And Raspberry Pi devices are overpriced and hard to find (in my country there's only one official shop and it's always out of stock since more than a year ago). However, I agree, it makes much more sense as a fun project than something to use for long term. |

This may be for real or may be just a cover up story in order to help you scam somebody who doesn't think one step ahead. As the other post said, your only real chance to make a deal is to use an escrow ( I think that this is the most recent list). Without that, sorry, but you look more like somebody who wants to scam than somebody who wants to make a deal. PS. If you get to use escrow, watch your back for impersonators too. |

I heard that the banking system of P2P transfers works much worse in Europe. To confirm transfers, you need to call the bank or send a fax.
There may be a misunderstanding or something I simply don't know, but aren't all the transfers in banking business involving at least a bank? So no P2P there. It's account from bank1 to account in bank2. And I've never had to call or fax anyone for my transfers, I've just done them from the bank app on my phone and that's all. Plus, maybe the older types of bank transfers were worse and needed that kind of checking you're talking about, but nowadays, with SEPA for example, all is faster and automated. CBDC will give more opportunities for people to easily and quickly make P2P transfers and exchange cryptocurrencies for CBDC.
CBDCs can indeed make faster the interaction between fiat and crypto - pretty much like stable coins work. But only that will not make me cheer for them; they're far too powerful weapons against people's privacy and that's not OK. |

I dont know what to expect
Nobody knows, really. I do hope Piastri and DeVries will do good. I do hope the McLaren cars will be better, but also the Ferraris (plus maybe a better strategy too for 2023, heh). But all we can do is to wait until the first few races of 2023 will pass. For now RBR looks strong, the Mercs seem to become really good again, but... I don't want to see yet another Hamilton vs Verstappen year, it's becoming boring, really. I want something different, or something more. |

You should try to give it a good thinking and see what's the intended workflow and then also explain it to us. I expected the payments are handled by the cashier with a software and device provided by a bank or payment processor and you probably integrate with that. Do you want to handle payments yourself? Are they bitcoin payments? Are they also fiat payments too? What you mean by fake payments? Do you expect your database (with products, prices, tags/barcodes/QR) be ... public/exposed? |

Cred că mai sunt mulţi români care întâmpină probleme cu câştigarea meritelor. Asa mi s-a parut si mie... Nu stiu de ce, dar aici, in sectiunea noastra, mereu s-au dat putine merite... Bine, nici nu poti spune ca suntem 100 de insi care sa trimita... Dar pare a fi un fel de temere, intr-un fel sau altul... O problemă, cum o văd eu, este că se scrie puțin. Nu ca și lungimea postărilor, asta-i clar  , ci ca subiecte / probleme. Daca ar fi 100 de inși care să discute (vai chiar și 10 activi ar fi deja super), deci nu neapărat să trimită merite, și cred că nu ar mai fi asemenea "penurie" de merite pe aici. O altă problemă ar fi probabil și că eu sunt mai zgârcit în a da merite. Mi-e mult mai ușor să împart 50 merit între 20 de postări decât să dau 50 merit la o postare. Uite ( NeuroticFish, scuza-ma ca dau acest exemplu; sper sa nu te superi) -- cand NeuroticFish m-a ajutat enorm in traducerea (de fapt retraducerea, intrucat originalul era o mizerie) actului constitutiv al Bitcoin, pentru tot efortul depus, i-am trimis o bomba de 50 merite. Mi-a multumit atunci, insa tin minte ca mi-a si spus sa nu para cuiva batator la ochi... Desi el muncise enorm, iar mie asa mi s-a parut normal sa reactionez... Din punctul meu de vedere, aici pe forum există și "polițiști" foarte tari, dar și unii care uneori fac rău doar așa, fiindcă pot. Nu o să dau nume, deși Gazeta știe un exemplu mai recent. Iar din punctul meu de vedere nu este singurul astfel de polițist. Și sunt convins că asemenea merite sunt periate din când în când. Și unii, văzându-ne doar 2-3 activi în secțiunea în română, pot să tragă concluzii ciudate (multi sau cine știe ce alte abuzuri le-or mai trece prin cap), fără să le pese că nu ne știm în viața reală sau că probabil că sunt sute de km între noi. Și decât explicații (de obicei sterile) la unu' sau altu', prefer fără. Dar cred că începem să divagăm divagarea , așa că mă opresc aici. Că era vorba să-i ajutăm pe alții, nu să ne plângem și nici să îi speriem.  |

If each item (not item type!) has its own different bar code, then it's straightforward: each such bar code corresponds to an entry in the database and it's also scanned by the cashier. It will reflect the price and it will also mark the barcode paid when the payment is done. But simple barcodes may not offer enough numbers for this task, I would use bigger range, plus ordered numbers may give ideas to hackers. I'd advise at least GUID as QR code for the job, if the scanners can handle that. I'm not sure where you need cryptography for this though, since it's your own database. |

Cred că mai sunt mulţi români care întâmpină probleme cu câştigarea meritelor. Şi nu vreau să îi descurajez, ci dimpotrivă. Poate reuşim să aflăm şi alte poveşti şi să îi sprijinim. De fapt, cred că ar fi o continuare interesantă a discuţiei traduse de Gazeta.
Este o idee foarte bună, și deci avem asta aici acum. Probabil că se putea și mai bine, dar putem adăuga pe parcurs. Dacă prin cealaltă discuție te referi la Campanie pentru îmbunătățirea calității postărilor, nu le-aș uni, întrucât poate că unii vor căuta doar informații despre merite, fără a face conexiunea că pentru merite trebuie calitate. Așa că, zic eu, legătura trebuie făcută de aici spre acolo (și am făcut asta). Continui (cam abrupt, știu, cu răspunsurile: Din curiozitate întreb. Ai obţinut merite extrem de greu după un anumit prag sau dintotdeauna? Întreb pentru că am impresia că pe măsură ce înaintezi în numărul de merite devine tot mai greu să le obţii.
Fiind deja "Legendar" când s-au introdus meritele, pentru mine a fost invers: am obținut merite mai greu la început. Cauze au fost mai multe - eram mai slab (am mai învățat foarte multe de atunci), numărul de surse de merit era mult mai mic, și postam mai puțin, cred că era și mai puternic încetățenită ideea "hai să nu prea dăm merite la cei de rang mare, că ei deja stau bine" - dar chiar am fost oarecum stresat și mă consideram inferior celor care aveau peste 1000 de merite obținute "pe bune". În timp am început să obțin din ce în ce mai multe merite, parcă din ce în ce mai ușor... Uneori şi eu arunc merite poate că aiurea. Cred că toți fac asta uneori. Nu ştiu, studii în trimiterea meritelor n-am. Trimit şi eu cui simt că merită, până la urmă.
Având în vedere că e la latitudinea fiecăruia cum își folosește meritele, fiecare face "cum simte", nu te stresa. Regula nescrisă ar fi să se merite în principal postările bine scrise și utile/de ajutor. Experienţa mea mi-a dat un sentiment că o majoritate din lumea aceasta 'bună' de care spui şi-a format un fel de ego faţă de rangurile pe care le au şi faţă de reputaţia de pe Bitcoin Talk. Nu îmi dau seama dacă doar aşa mi se pare sau chiar aşa este, dar de simţit cel puţin eu aşa simt. Zici că tocmai am intrat la o convenţie pentru prima dată unde toată lumea ştie pe toată lumea. Sau poate se întâmplă pentru că unii dintre noi ne obişnuim prost să ignorăm mesaje care la prima vedere par fără substanţă. Ce e drept, şi eu fac până la urmă acelaşi lucru, deci ce comentez.
Teoretic sunt persoane de la care mă aștept la o anumită calitate a răspunsului și s-ar putea să le dau mai mult interes, în ideea că s-ar putea ca informația transmisă de aceștia să fie deja completă, iar eu pot să învăț de acolo, sau nu să mai am nimic de adăugat acolo. Dar asta nu înseamnă că doar pe aceștia îi citesc (nu au cum să acopere fizic tot forumul) și clar la aceștia tind să fiu mai zgârcit cu meritele. Dar partea cu "convenția" nu e chiar așa departe de adevăr Uneori, mai ales dacă într-un subiect de discuţie sunt cel puţin pe jumătate oameni dintr-aceştia 'buni', mă simt cumva ca şi cum îmi suflă cineva în ceafă când scriu un răspuns, pentru că ştiu că toţi sunt pregătiţi cu ţevile drept în ceafa mea în caz că zic ceva incorect.
Mda, întotdeauna există riscul ca cineva să scrie același lucru în același timp. De aceea ajută să fii clar și succint. Dar cum spui şi tu, alte dăţi depun efort imens şi petrec ore scriind o postare pe care realizez mai târziu că probabil nimeni nu a citit-o, sau dacă a citit-o a râs şi a trecut mai departe.
Ei, am avut cazuri în care au râs pe față, că îmi scăpase ceva sau nu știam vreun amănunt (și nu știam că nu știu). Deci nu fii prea strict cu tine însuți... Măcar tu... că alții vor fi, când va fi cazul (dar până atunci rămâne problema drobului de sare). Cred că mai sunt mulţi români care întâmpină probleme cu câştigarea meritelor. Şi nu vreau să îi descurajez, ci dimpotrivă. Poate reuşim să aflăm şi alte poveşti şi să îi sprijinim.

From your questions you seem to want to avoid getting your transactions / addresses get linked together. And then for this point I will add that SPV wallets (like Electrum or like Ledger Live) will most probably help others link your addresses together, since they ask from their server the history/latest transactions for many addresses of your wallet. So imho a good approach for your privacy is to have your own Bitcoin node (and for your HW it's not that hard to install an Electrum server on top of that for local use, and use Electrum wih your HW and your local server). |

Selling accounts is now stupid - although allowed officially, seller, buyer, the account to be sold will be tagged when caught. And it's a good step forward, since the reasons for such a deal can be at least shady, if not plain scam.
Plus now the merit system makes leveling up difficult for spammers, so the way the worth was calculated in 2013-2015 (I don't know the exact years) is different from what it would mean now.
Sometimes, let us assume, for example, a high-ranking member who has been banned for any reason or wants to increase his profits by having more than one account. Instead of waiting 8 months, he will buy an account and will not face a problem in ranking. Also, spammers know that it is impossible for them to rank-up, so buying an account and participating in bounty campaigns is a good option. Good... maybe as business. Apart of that is still shady. Background and writing style is changing. It's not the same person. Even more, it's ban evasion. And maybe in a day or a year the deal is caught and the account tagged. If it took long enough, maybe there is ROI, but it's not guaranteed. The risk is very high. Spammers... they may be fooling themselves that nobody would notice a smart and useful member, instead of improving over time, suddenly becomes spammer. How long until the account is tagged and it's value drops to irrelevance? So no, sorry; I stand to my initial conclusion: it's stupid and shady. |

Ehee, pe câți am încercat să conving că sunt prea subiectivi în discuțiile despre cât de greu sau ușor se obțin meritele... Eu am avut și experiența meritelor obținute extrem de greu (și mi se părea că lumea "bună" îmi ignoră complet postările mai bune), dar și experiența meritelor obținute uneori parcă prea ușor. Și ca să nu o lungesc, voi spune că, la fel ca de obicei cu orice, adevărul este undeva la mijloc (în medie, nu se obțin nici exagerat de greu, nici prea ușor). Clar, experiența ajută. pentru respectul intimităţii lui 20kevin20, nu ofer mai multe detalii Dacă știi cine este, doar să ne spui că este în regulă (sau dacă are probleme, să ziceți, că cine știe, poate putem ajuta). Fără detalii care pot provoca probleme. NeuroticFish, tie nu iti aminteste de kevin?

Is this really the case?
It doesn't matter how long you've used your wallet. Even the time passed since sending the transaction is not just some fixed minutes, it depends on many factors (from luck to say so, since a block may be mined within seconds from you sending the transaction to even an hour sometimes, to the fee used for the transaction and the number of others' transactions not mined yet). But more clearer, all that matters is whether a miner has managed to put that transaction of yours into a block or not. Electrum will show that as confirmations. If (and only if) you have 0 confirmations for your transaction then yes, you may cancel it (meaning to send it to yourself instead of somebody else). |
