....I hope you didn't just give out your address, although I suppose half of the people here could figure it out if needed.

Controlling 51% is like pointing a gun at BTC.. doubling spending would be pulling the trigger
Why would a mining pool do that to themselves....?
Also many people on the pool might bail if they attempt to take over 51%. A pool doubling spending doesn't make any sense that's why no one fears it.

As it has been suggested it is a great heater in the winter, ESPCIALLY the S1 that guy pours out heat.
I mine slightly negative but I like to decentrlized mining and support the security of the chain.. hey every giga hash counts!
U3, you can grab one for like $60 off kijiji, power draw is negligible mind you so is the profits but you are mining and adding more security to the network.

An S5 (or S1, S2, S3, S4, S4+, U2, U3) can be used to mine any coin that uses SHA256D. For example, BTC, NMC, HUC, MZC, CURE, TAK, PPC... all can be mined with that hardware.
Coins like LTC, DOGE, DASH, etc cannot be mined with that because they use different hashing algorithms (Scrypt, X11, etc).
Understood & thanks for taking time to answer me to all my newbie questions , I just didn't got into mining and was never interessted till now . even if I'am a Senior Member I / we like intelligent questions.

Kijiji is your best bet
or if you live in Canada quickbt.com is AMAZING.

I don't veiw him as intellegent at all lol. His "experiese" is that on a flawed and gamed system...
It's like being an expert in ponzi schemes..

The gov can shut down the electric grid..
TURN OFF ALL ELECTRICY STOP BEING DEPENDENT ON IT..
99% population loss EASILY in all western countries if electricy went down.. easily..
I'd recoken 80% pop loss if the web was down for longer than a month

Backpage.com might be holding it now. Not sure though.

If your coin isn't protected by ASIC's it is useless as any country can just smash it at will with a super computer if it ever becomes a fraction of a threat.

I never got into mining and I never got interessted on it but this time I was watching this Bitcoin Documentary called "The Bitcoin Phenomenon" and I heard Gavin saying that he used to mine before using his old Laptop and it worked (I'd assume it's not working anymore)
I see a lot of stuff called ANTMINER S2 S3 S4 S5 and stuff , I will also assume that those are used for Mining , correct me if I'am wrong ? I want to know how much do they cost and how much time is needed to earn x BTC and to get back what I invested on them .
I know there is different Hardwares or whatever their names is , so feel fre eto give the different pricing etc ... Note that Pricing here is about : 0.05$ / kw AFAIK .
You only pay 5 cents a KW/hr... HOly shit you should be mining, Kijiji is your friend, Grab an S3,S4 or S5. S5 being the best choice or buy off of Bitmaintech.com, I have bought from them 3 times, everytime I got my stuff within a week, matching their stats posted perfectly.

No free lunch. Few seem to want to listen to Gavin's warning about block size. So if blocks can only include some transactions then you are going to have to pay to be one of those included transactions.
Aye, it would appear Gavin's idea is a solid one I just fear the interwebz backbone won't be able to keep up to what is required.

For that amount I would recommend buying directly from a mine or OTC. You may be able to get a better price since you save the seller time and effort. Since there is a danger of fraud if you are not sure what you are doing, I would want to meet face to face and sign a contract for the sale. Meet at a public restaurant for dinner. The seller can send the coins then you guys can eat dinner while waiting for 5-6 confirmations. In about an hour the Tx is safely encoded into the blockchain and each of you can be assured that the sale is legit.
You may also need an escrow. The hard part of this is the fiat, not the bitcoins. 500k is a lot to carry in a briefcase, but no one in their right mind is going to let you walk out after handing over a check. They will need some way of verifying that you have the money and that the dollars are real.
This is a good idea, maybe Bitmain would be interested.

AHHH, can you go into that a little more, what do you mean by under a certian target?
Imagine that the hash picks a number between 0 and 999,999. You could say that the difficulty is to count the number of leading zeros. One zero means you have to get 99,999 or lower (099999 or lower). That is one in 10 (difficulty 10). Two zeros means you have to get 9,999 or lower (009999 or lower). That is one in 100 (difficulty 100) and so on. You could alternatively just use a threshold. For a difficulty of 63, you use 1,000,000 / 63 = 15,873. You don't say that you need 1 zero, you say the number must be 15,873 or lower. That gives a 1 in 63 chance, so a difficulty of 63. With the actual hash, it picks a number between 0 and (2 256 - 1). The difficulty is also divided by 2 32. A difficulty of 1 means that you have a 1 in 2 32 chance of a hash being less than the threshold. OOOH, I think I kind of get it.. so FFFFFFFFFFFF .... = 1.16 x 10 ^ 77 0000000000 ... 1 = 1 (good luck) 0000000000000******** = 1 x 10 ^22 (for eg) find a number smaller than 1 x 10 ^ 22 I thinks I get it?

you COULD buy an asic and start mining....

Many wallets do offline transactions, just not what you want in an automated way.
You can also create transactions with a wait time, i you really want that (although it's not easy to do such with the current Bitcoin Core)
We have had full blocks for over 2 weeks............ how does not one give a fuck about this
|
|
|
for 12 hours then posts them all onto the blockchain... THAT'd be great.
How do you profit?
Charge x amount per offline transaction, then when 12 hours is up put a fee to process all the transactions at less than what you have collected from your transaction cost, boom, you know you'll get your tx send within 12 hours and the "company" profits from it.
That's kinda what lightning.network will do except it's days, weeks, or months instead of hours. This is a cool idea
