1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Even more Confusion now, Bitcoin Core has been created on: May 30, 2018, 04:32:16 PM
Well apparently it seems that BTCC was created to mock the ideologies of BCH and to mock Roger Ver as well. It doesn't seem to produce any form of hatred and negativities toward BTC but is rather spewing sarcastic remarks towards BCH's way. I don't think many will be fooled in buying BTCC thinking that it's he same BTC they know and the devs also advertised that they are the cooler cousin of BTC rather than an enemy.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too when I read the article. It really sounds like this was made purely for the purpose of trolling Roger Ver and the Bcash community.
It's from the developers of Bitcoin Clashic, which also was some sort of hoax coin.

1862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you guys compare all these crypto exchanges? on: May 30, 2018, 02:32:07 PM
The Bitcoin wiki also has a comparison sheet of the most popular exchanges.
Check it out here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_exchanges

The page seems to be updated reasonably frequent, but I can't say for sure that all information is 100% accurate.
I'd always check on the exchange's website. Don't forget that trust is also a big factor, it's best to spend some time looking up honest reviews and scam accusations as well.
1863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3000 Bitcoins ATM worldwide !!!! on: May 30, 2018, 10:16:25 AM
Bitcoins distributors are increasing. Indeed, the symbolic bar of the 3 000 distributors in the world has just been crossed, and there are about six new installations each day. So the situation is changing very quickly.

Honestly I can't understand people who are using ATMs to buy bitcoin or any other altcoin - crypto in general. Most of the time rates are way higher than if you go and register on some exchange and trade directly. Secondly, there is no support on the spot and some ATMs even ask you to provide them with your IDs and they will take the picture even if you are buying only one time and guess what this doesn't sound like the best deal for me. You give them your ID and you overpay for the price for what? If you are going to do KYC better is to follow up and go with trustworthy exchange in my opinion.

Not all of them are allowing to buy and sell crypto-currencies ( 35%) However only half of the distributors offer anything other than Bitcoin, the Litecoin being the most popular crypto-currency.

Really, Litecoin is the most popular, that's really surprising to me. Can you share where you found those numbers?
I assume you mean that it's the most popular after Bitcoin, right?

I wish there were more ATM's in my country. We have 6 in total, spread out over 4 cities.
1864  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can online casinos Pay it forward? on: May 30, 2018, 10:03:10 AM
The problem is that these brick & mortar casinos are only paying it forward, because they are required to do so by law.
I know that there are a lot of charity-giving people in the crypto community, but I doubt that casino owners are among them.

I would think that they think about profit in the first place, so they would most likely not give back to the 'community' unless there was something in it for them.
1865  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Dicryptionary: Urban Dictionary for Crypto on: May 29, 2018, 09:30:58 PM
It's a great idea and once you've got all definitions added, I could really see this getting quite a few visitors.
I'd focus on adding all definitions for terms that you've already added. I can see that there are quite a few missing still.

Looked at the word 'genesis block' and there's nothing.
1866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bank will use Bitcoin to make cross-border payments on: May 29, 2018, 03:45:48 PM
Here's the article in question in case someone interested in reading it.

https://www.coindesk.com/bank-argentina-just-added-bitcoin-cross-border-payments/

Quote
Argentina's Banco Masventas has revealed that starting Monday it will enable customers to send cross-border payments using bitcoin.

So this is just a service that they're offering to their customers?
The banks themselves are not going to be using Bitcoin themselves for cross-border payments.
1867  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: want to start my crypto blog on: May 29, 2018, 11:26:49 AM
These days, it might be better to focus on existing platforms first.
You can really earn quite a bit of money by writing on Medium or Steemit for example.

I'd make your own blog after you get a following through other platforms, you will get visitors automatically.

The cost of building and hosting your own website isn't really too big. You can probably find hosting for less than 50 dollars per year.
If you build your own blog using Wordpress, you might want to spend some money on a premium theme. That will set you back less than 100 dollars, depending on the theme.
1868  Other / Off-topic / Re: BYE BYE BTC on: May 28, 2018, 10:27:07 PM
Come up with something original next time. This has only been mentioned a few thousand times, when you include all these sorts of posts on forums and social media.
The 'official' counter is already at 299 times that Bitcoin has been declared dead.

Can't wait till it hits 300, just waiting for some mainstream news outlet to write another article Tongue

1869  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Hero and Legendary Club waiting for your offers on: May 28, 2018, 10:12:03 PM
So, what kind of service are you exactly offering? Why can't project managers just post their project here in the service section themselves?
Or they can just hire a professional campaign manager, instead of a newbie...

You don't have me as a contact that's for sure, I'd never participate with a service like this? Earning a couple of cents just to read offers? Yeah right...
1870  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ideas for Bitcointalk related articles on: May 28, 2018, 11:03:11 AM
I also like the idea about different security tips as now high-ranked accounts are really valuable and a lot of scammers try to hack them and then sell or steal all the smerits from them. For example, there is an opportunity to post a message signed from your BTC address to prove your identity if your account is stolen, so maybe there are some other ways to prevent it. I would like to learn about them.

Oh yeah, the address signing feature if definitely something that everybody should know about. That's really good to add in an article.
I definitely could write an article about account security in general, lots of accounts get hacked.

Have I done something to upset you?
Nope, it's a global problem. I'm getting the same errors.
I've pinged someone to look into it.
Will be fixed, sorry.

It's fixed now, I can view all pages again
Just wanted to mention it in case people were waiting Wink

1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin mining geography on: May 25, 2018, 07:53:24 PM
I think Antarctica has to be one of the most expensive places to mine Bitcoin, think about it.
Yes, you might have free cooling, but everything else is way more expensive.

Enormous cost to move everything there, huge initial investment to get power there.
You could opt for solar, but you have 6 months of complete darkness, so you need something else.

How would you go about getting a decent internet connection? Not sure if Bitcoin mining via satellite internet is viable.
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Projects[18 Projects Listed] on: May 25, 2018, 06:15:59 PM
I've changed the colour of Project Ubu to green since it seems like distribution has started.
You can receive 100 UBUs per day if you register on their website.
1875  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto-Insurance / SafeStash beta test is open on: May 25, 2018, 02:24:47 PM
You really should get a decent looking website.
This wordpress template you are using is horrible, just being honest here.

Thanks for the feedback, any other templates you recommend?

Templates? You really need a professional design, especially when you offer a service like this.
For example: I need to download a Word document, just to read the FAQ?

This template looks more like something for a regular blog, and the home page looks a bit sloppy.
1876  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ideas for Bitcointalk related articles on: May 25, 2018, 12:33:58 PM
I think I'll be able to find it using that info, sounds like a very good example of a somewhat technically elaborate scam.
Also the Pirate scam might be something worth looking into a bit further, but don't know what his username was.
1877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To be or not to be... Achievements in Gambling. on: May 25, 2018, 12:26:27 PM
I'd consider the faucet on Crypto-games sort of an achievement system. You level up by being active on the website and in return you get a higher faucet withdraw.
Can really grow to a pretty significant amount, so it's worth it to try and level up.

You can get achievements by: wagering, chatting, investing, just being active, referral earnings, etc.
1878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Always KYC (Know Your Customer) Why NOT KYO(Know Your Owner) on: May 25, 2018, 12:20:15 PM
Really, just avoid casino's that ask for KYC, there's literally tons of other casino's out there that don't require you to offer them your identity.
I also think it's ludicrous that you have to offer them your identity documents, over a potentially insecure connection.

Even when we're dealing with small amounts, lower than $1000. Such a waste of time IMO
1879  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ideas for Bitcointalk related articles on: May 25, 2018, 12:04:42 PM
@saerlingen

Good suggestion, but I've already covered that in my first post on Steemit.
Apparently most people didn't even know it originated here. They just think it meant: Hold On for Dear Life

I am interested in doing more stories about significant scams here. Perhaps some of the biggest scams that happened here?
Already did something similar when I mentioned Dankbank (if anyone remembers that) in this article: Lending in the early days of Bitcoin

I fell for it, at least a couple of minutes until I started reading their white paper and saw the team members.
Pretty neat to see that the SEC has a sense of humor, it's the perfect way of educating people.

Also great execution from you Theymos Cheesy
