I wish users can delete their own posts themselves.

The users can delete their own posts in most boards, although in some cases they have to wait for 24h after posting.
You've never seen the delete sign on your own posts?!

Any repercussions doing this?

If you delete a few posts now and then when you realize you've mistaken, you've answered something already answered, or somebody else has posted a way better answer than yours (or whatever other reasons), you're OK.
If you delete your own history, or you try to cover the tracks of a deal, well, that's shady and will probably be noticed.

---
Do you think that all my posts are top quality? I do my best, but it may not always work out well.
Do you think that my posts from.. let's say 6 years ago were as good and knowledgeable as those from the past year?..
People are not perfect. People keep learning. You should acknowledge / understand that.

Multumesc!

1884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are exchanges the only way BTC can be purchased? on: November 17, 2022, 02:01:16 PM
I was reading how btc used to be bought back in the day. You either mined it yourself or found someone who had it and made a deal with them. But now, is the only way to buy BTC through an exchange?

Mining still happens, but if you don't want to pay for expensive mining gear or if your electricity is expensive (making mining unprofitable), you will have to buy from somewhere.
But that "somewhere" can be of many types:
* most known are centralized exchanges
* then there are decentralized exchanges
* then you can buy from some sellers even from this forum
* then you can buy by meeting sellers in person
* or you can buy from Bitcoin ATMs
* or you can buy from OTC exchanges
* or you can mine altcoins and sell them for bitcoin

I guess that there are other choices too, but as a first list, this looks OK to me.
1885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction is not even visible on block explorers on: November 17, 2022, 11:32:16 AM
Not sure what on earth is wrong with Guarda but I don't feel like sending BTC anymore with it...

From what I've read, Guarda is non-custodial?
If so, maybe there's a chance to get the raw transaction hex and re-broadcast it with a few such free service over the internet?
1886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *El Salvador To Start Purchasing Bitcoin Everyday* on: November 17, 2022, 10:09:51 AM
El Salvador's president just tweeted that his nation would begin purchasing one Bitcoin each day starting from tomorrow.

It's a good moment to invest more, if they have the money for it.
The chances are better for the price to go up than down from this moment, so El Salvador could look very nice in a rather near future.

It's funny to see how Justin Sun is trying to copy this (if that's indeed his real account), just to gather a few crumbs of attention. Cheesy Cheesy
1887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unconfirmed transaction....need help on: November 17, 2022, 09:55:33 AM
Not sure if I can wait it out any longer as it has been 3 days since and considering the very low fee, I am not sure if it ever gets confirmed.

It will most probably get confirmed in the next 4 days. No need to freak out.
As said, your fee is so low the free accelerators will not handle your transaction.

Since I am a newbie to all this, I am 'afraid' to tinker with features like sending to another address I own, CPFP etc..

The only real chance for "accelerating" is that you send to yourself the funds from bc1q4c3llfzdqs97saf5kzqr28fjjq9zshhq4tu0xy or bc1q385fvgf0mka42y7k0a66tjj55k0wl0kd9fxkkl, whichever is yours.
It may need a bit of research to spend unconfirmed coins (and I use Electrum, I don't know how this is done with blockchain.com), so it's up to you: learn to act or learn patience.

I am more looking for a bitcoin miner like the sticky in this forum suggested and actually have it confirmed through a miner if this is possible.

Since it's not a life-or-death situation, I don't see a good reason a miner would give up a transaction with better fees to handle yours, but you can hope...

What happens to the funds if the transaction stays unconfirmed and is eventually dropped from the mempool? Will the funds be lost?

They will returned to your wallet, like the transaction never happened. Of course, the wallet may or may not know how to handle that, but you can always go for a smarter wallet if it's needed.
Again, stop worrying for no good reason.

1890  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-21] Global Recession May Last Until Near 2024 Bitcoin Halving-Elon Musk on: November 17, 2022, 09:24:53 AM
many people in the cryptospace appear to be in denial of this

So true. And denial means unrealistic expectations, bad surprises and sometimes dramas too, unfortunately.
That's why we, at least here on this forum, should be realistic and express clearly the truth/situation, with both its good and bad sides.
1891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto storage Trust Wallet on: November 17, 2022, 09:19:45 AM
This, same thing with Trezor hardware wallets. I just usually default to the Ledger Nano X recommendation because most of the people I know use iPhones. Cheesy

Similar adapters most probably exist for each modern modern phone, at a couple of bucks (I've bought MicroUSB and USBC ones at under 1$ back then, but for iPhone they seem to start at 2-3$).
So still no Nano X on my list Cheesy

As for the Nano X being overpriced, I don't blame you if you think it is. Outside of Bluetooth, it has a significantly better build quality — heavier and better buttons and all that.

Don't forget the bigger memory, i.e. space for more shitcoins' apps. Convenience is never cheap and I do understand the iPhone people prefer convenience, even if it's more costly Wink
1892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is spamming mempool on: November 17, 2022, 07:37:38 AM
If bitcoin had ever bothered to increase onchain transaction capacity, this would be a non issue,
but since btc is limited, people start complaining when it's transaction network is used.

Lame.

If you would read around, you would have been seeing this explanation of mine:

It explains how we got there, but doesn't elaborate on what that means for Bitcoin.

I think that a better term would be "congested".
What it means for bitcoin, nothing.
What it means for miners, a bit more income.
What it means for bitcoiners, a bit higher transaction fees if they're in a hurry. If nothing special happens, all this will be gone in less than 5 days.

Also, if you would have been looking on the actual topic, you would have seen that people are trying to see what are Binance's reasons for this move, not actually about the congestion of the mempool.
But instead you chose to be political. And lame.

Some people on Twitter are implying that maybe Binance is leaving behind the legacy addresses and moves everything to pure SegWit.
If that is the case then I do agree that it would be a great deal. I understand that there are still a few people who rather use the legacy ones, but they need their hands to be pushed in order to either move to segwit, or just not be involved with the mainstream crypto anymore.

Indeed, it would be great, although I still have a feeling that this move was meant to hide something under the carpet.

And I don't agree fully with your stance on legacy addresses. They are still good and should still be used by people. Many have old wallets they don't change for security reasons, many have collectible items funded on legacy addresses. Of course, many use legacy simply because they lack certain knowledge, but they will learn. So the individuals still using Legacy are okay imho.
On the other hand services like Binance, services that create a great number of transactions should have been migrated to SegWit long ago. They would have saved quite some money with that. Actually now they should already implement LN. So it's a good step, but already late.
1893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto storage Trust Wallet on: November 16, 2022, 03:07:50 PM
If you want mobile and you can't afford a hardware wallet, and you want to hold bitcoin AND altcoins,  I suggest that you try blue wallet instead of trust wallet.

https://bluewallet.io/

While BlueWallet is indeed great, open source and multi platform, from what I know it doesn't support altcoins, it's bitcoin only.
This doesn't make it bad (au contraire!), just a correction to what you wrote may be needed.
1894  Economy / Service Discussion / Genesis' crypto lending (Genesis Global Capital) halts withdrawals on: November 16, 2022, 01:53:43 PM
And the shit show started by FTX is going further:

The lending arm of crypto investment bank Genesis Global Trading is temporarily suspending redemptions and new loan originations in the wake of FTX’s collapse, Interim CEO Derar Islim told customers on a call Wednesday.
The unit, known as Genesis Global Capital, serves an institutional client base and had $2.8 billion in total active loans as of the end of the third quarter of 2022, according to the company’s website.

And this goes further. According to Bitcoin Magazine, Gemini Earn customers are affected by Genesis' problem:

BREAKING: Gemini Earn customers unable to redeem funds as Genesis lending halts withdrawals

I guess that it's expected that this castle made of cards will make other similar castles collapse....
1895  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: New software wallet: SecureBTCWallet.com (feedback appreciated) on: November 16, 2022, 01:43:20 PM
Thank you. Looks simple and amazing!

Thanks!

Even if I wouldn't have downloaded that software for my use (for the already said reasons), after seeing this new account only created for making this post (hence most probably by yourself), I would be even more wary.
Plus, as the others have shown, your posts show that you lack certain crucial knowledge...

1897  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX comedy and might be another exchange that bites the dust? on: November 16, 2022, 11:53:53 AM
If you want comedy, but really bad comedy, cringe stuff, just look at SBF tweets:

I didn't give it a second thought. My cat ends up on my keyboard too now and then.

So he will raise 8 billion from investor money and pay back the defrauded customers, doesn't he realize what he is actually proposing? He is asking for investors' money to patch a Ponzi scheme?

They've done this until now too, isn't it? They did it probably without knowing it, but probably this kind of "tiny details" don't matter for SBF.
1898  Other / Meta / Re: Query on "do not keep your money in online accounts" on: November 16, 2022, 11:47:23 AM
Trust CZ, he ain’t SBF!

Why trusting anybody when there are open source wallets that can be properly reviewed by everybody?
Sorry, no, I would not trust Trust Wallet (heh), no matter how much is CZ shilling it (especially as he owns it).
1899  Other / Meta / Re: Is Pay Proxy Ban Need a confirmations? on: November 16, 2022, 11:42:13 AM
the fee is higher than billing

Bitcoin network is congested now because Binance is reorganizing its wallets/funds. This makes the transactions made from yesterday to the next few days have bigger transaction fees.

Because i've experince when send bitcoin need atleast 5-10 minutes to confirm on blockchain. If without confirmation, the new user must know to do not seting the fee more than 1 satoshi.

You can look into https://mempool.space and compare block times with the moment you've sent the transaction. Sometimes blocks come faster, sometimes slower. The 10 minutes is an average.
Plus, the time is counted from a previous block, not from the moment you send transaction, so you can get lucky now and then.

1. I am curious, is there need a blockchain confirmation?

A transaction without confirmation doesn't matter; so I'd guess that at least 1 confirmation is needed.

2. Where a 740 sat go?, to treasure forum?

I have no experience with that fee, but probably it's going to forum's treasury, in a way or another.
1900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto storage Trust Wallet on: November 16, 2022, 11:35:07 AM
If I'm going to guess, you don't want a hardware wallet because you want to use your wallet on your mobile phone. If that's the case, then go for the Ledger Nano X — it has Bluetooth connectivity.

Actually I can easily use my Ledger Nano S with my Android phone. Only a small adapter is needed for the original cable from Ledger (cable which came in the package with the Nano S).
I find Nano X overpriced and with a risk to get faulty battery.

- Just download Bitaddress source code from Github[1], run it offline locally and print the private keys.

Other options:
* get IanColeman's tool from Git (https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39/releases/latest/) run it offline safely and get a 12 or 24 words seed and an address from under Bip84; write the seed onto paper, at least 2 copies; the address will be the deposit address
* download Tails OS (https://tails.boum.org/) put it onto a stick, boot from it without persistence or anything. Start Electrum, create a new wallet, write down the seed to paper (at least 2 copies top be stored in different locations), copy an address as deposit address (keep in mind though that by default a seed generated by Electrum will work only with Electrum - but in case Electrum dies off there are solutions, so nothing to worry)
