1921  Economy / Economics / Re: Is long-term employee retention a losing battle? on: December 24, 2022, 10:36:35 PM
If I was an employer and I would have to select one of employees that apply, I would take a person whos long term working experience in one company in his record of service, instead of a person that has changed 8 jobs in a single year, plus he probably has something unofficial. I value loyalty more, compared to how huge professional other employee is. I see no point in teaching, giving experience to a person, that tends to change jobs often. There are persons that aim on a result, try to build a career. You cant hold them forever with bonuses, high salary, free coffee and etc.

But in general a lot depends from a person. I know a guy, who works in a company since it was created (for 20+ years), his boss treats him and everybody like crap, he is in a bad relations with the boss, many people have left that company, that guy can also quit, but he keeps working there.
That line of thinking only ever works for small businesses in dire need of loyal workers who could easily be manipulated by the notion that your workplace is your second home and everyone in it is your family. People nowadays are smart enough to understamd how controlling this logic is and most modern companies with established names will not care about how many times an employee has switched companies as long as he has the expertise and the dedication to go to work to boot. Loyalty will only ever value the employer in this game between employer vs. employee. Before you question your employee's loyalty, make sure you give them something to be loyal for. Like maybe enough pay to make sure they don't starve to death after paying their utilities.
1922  Economy / Economics / Re: A fact that the general public don't know on: December 24, 2022, 09:44:50 PM
The statement about crypto getting labeled as a scam every bear season is just untrue. Sure there are those who are none the wiser about the ins and outs of trading and investment who may think that it is a scam, but their opinions hardly matter. Now going back, as for crypto I don't think the government would go so far as to actively undermine a flourishing exchange all for the idea that it could burn crypto industry to the ground. We aren't living in post-war eras anymore. Besides, their CEO exceptionally funds politicians to gather their favors so it's a dick move to do that against him yeah? Let's just take this for what it really is. SBF felt invincible and ruined his image to the people. He is stupid and should not be receiving any form of sympayhy from anyone because he did this to himself.
1923  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: December 24, 2022, 08:49:06 PM
Definitely the lack of discipline. I could argue that I have everything right now that could catapult me to financial freedom and yet I find time to procrastinate and laze off sometimes. And it always happen in the most opportune time too like when a venture I have been watching on for a while finally opens up and I am busy doing something else. A big hamper to my financial freedom dream is how hard it is to catch up with inflation too. Prices soar but pay remains the same, and you can't do anything about it.
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: Vegetable Prices Soar 40% as Crops Fail Under Extreme Weather on: December 24, 2022, 08:13:02 PM
This makes me think whether the solution to water scarcity in the future will depend on our Desalination capacity (turn water from the ocean into potable water).
If I recall correctly, it is a process which consumes a big quantity of energy but it may be worth a shot to industrialize it, ideally using renewable energy or nuclear energy.

It would be also productive to use that obtained water efficiently, I have read some articles on how watering plants is better at night, since the evaporation rates are slower, for obvious reasons.
I think the thought has been entertained a few too many times but little to no effort has been made to actualize this. Desalinating into potable water may not just work because of as you said, huge costs to run it, which could in turn cause multiple companies to privatize it and in return, charge more for water. I think the better solution to this is to really bank on efforts to rehabilitate the environment especially areas that could work as freshwater basins. You're hitting two birds with one stone with that too cause it also helps reduce the effects of climate change, especially if done on a large scale.
1925  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin here to stay in Brazil or??.. on: December 24, 2022, 07:22:35 PM
From the looks of it, I think bitcoin will stay operational in the country for a substantial amount of time. The government of that country is pretty firm in making a statement about bitcoin and/or crypto becoming more prevalent in their country. Which in itself is cool I guess cause it helps with hastening bitcoin's global adoption one country at a time, but at the same time this could mean regulation and strict user guidelines are to be imposed for bitcoin to be operational within the country.
1926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: December 23, 2022, 08:24:34 PM
Is it really going so well? I've seen news from major reporting outlets saying that the adoption had left a massive dent jn El Salvador's economy following the crash of bitcoin's price, so much so that some establishments that were once proudly accepting bitcoin payments ultimately resorted to cash transactions because of how bad they got hit with the crash. Anyhow, I do exoect a turbulent first few years until El Salvador picks its own pace and starts creating a harmonious economy that utilizes bitcoin and fiat interchangeably in multiple manners. Still, this doesn't rid us of the fact that the change caused huge detriments in the short-term for El Salvador
1927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to properly store seed phrase during inspection? on: December 23, 2022, 06:14:14 PM
Well for one, I don't think having your seed phrase with you at all times is the best idea for storing. Considering how many personal affects a person loses in their person already. If you are going to store your cryptocurrency on a self-custodial wallet' might as well choose cold ones and only pull the seed phrase out for whenever you really need it. Most of the time you should keep it somewhere safe like a safety deposit box inside your home, secured in itself with a lock and key that only you could open, as well as a trusted person for emergencies. I do those and thus far, despite me being POC and being pulled over god-knows-how-many I don't ever encounter a situation like what you posted.
1928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do online casinos disadvantage some locations from winning big on: December 22, 2022, 08:38:22 PM
Gamblers should stop and avoid looking for excuses to the failures for their winnings, there are no barriers be it small or big that can hinders a gambler from winning an online game henplayed, the ideology is simple, if you're good at doing it (gambling) there's high probabilities for you to win and if you jad problems with compliance to understand the ways it's been played, you may less have opportunities to win, location barrier should be in favour of those that are into offline gambling or casino house gamblings and not the online one.
Exactly. This is just it, no way around why people would think it's the house messing up with them and coveting their "well-deserved" wins from them. They make excuses for themselves and puts the blame on other people instead of taking accountability and owning up to their losses. Rookie mistake. Rule of thumb, if you gamble, don't gamble to win unless you're scarface or something. Gamble to have fun. Because gambling for profits will just disappoint you ten times over and may leave you addicted to getting that "one last clincher bet that will breakeven my losses"
1929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 22, 2022, 07:15:43 PM
This is an embarassing exhibition fight for Manny in my opinion. Nevermind that he always show his A-Game everytimr he boxes, but the fact of the matter is that an elite boxer with so many titles and belts under his wing is so agreeing to fight an obscure YouTuber let alone someone who doesn't have boxing experience prior is what made the fans just throw a thumbs down on this one. At least with Jake and Mayweather we can accept that. The fact that Jake is a very successful star and influencer, with boxing experience to boot is what made the fight fun for the viewers. Manny vs. DK Yoo just looked like a one-sided after-school meet-me-behind-the-school battle.
1930  Other / Off-topic / Re: Monty Hall Paradox on: December 22, 2022, 05:53:22 PM
Of course, having watched that film and my eyes opened to the wonders of variable change, in the event that I find myself in a situation where I had to choose between three choices and be given a chance to switch I would take it. The common bias our brain insinuates to us is that with the revelation of the second goat box, you have yourself a 50% chance at winning the game. But that is just not the case, considering how the boxes where revealed AFTER you have made the choice. To switch to the other unrevealed box will really amp your chances of winning because that is another 33.3% chance added to your odds by picking that other box. I hope this clears up the confusion on how this problem works.
1931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: recommendation for gambling platform on: December 22, 2022, 05:13:04 PM
You've left the people here with little to come up from your request. For instance, what is it that you are looking for in a casino? Are you looking for incentives in playing through milestones? Are you just looking to play classic games and enjoy the manner of gambling? Or are you looking to win, and be offered higher stakes for higher prizes, because from those we surely can come up with suggestions instead of just spitfalling casinos to you that you may find out later to not be your type. There's a plethora of good casinos out there, you just need to be specific with what you're looking for.
1932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar world cup Final Predictions on: December 21, 2022, 08:44:06 PM
I guess that a lot of us were expecting to see messi vs CR7 at the finals. It would be amazing and story would be written around it.
This would have been unlikely, unlikely based on the part of Portugal as it actually turned out but, a world cup final between Messi and Ronaldo would have been epic. Two GOATs, locked in an epic of having a chance to end there national careers with a trophy that have eluded both and most of all, one gets to deprive the other of the opportunity, it would have been sweet savory for history.
Still okay, Messi got it and that's enough for them no or should should say, Messi. Can't say Ronaldo is exactly happy for him, lol.

The France vs Argentina World Cup was already epic, how much more if it's Portugal vs Argentina, right? I'd say epic will be an understatement because that is the world's dream match-up especially for the avid football fans out there. Well, what we saw in the recent Qatar World Cup is already a treat because the match-up was so intense and for me, it's already the best World Cup.

Sadly, both Messi and CR7 might not be around anymore in the next world cup. Some are already saying that the latter's last dance will in the Euro '24.
Really? With how he performed this World Cup he's far from being weakened due to aging. Messi is still pretty much powerful and a good football player at that so if you could give me an explanation as to why people infer that he's gonna retire it would be great. The same can be said for CR7. Is he retiring? Is his loss really that devastating that he'd rather just quit football instead of trying for the next world cup? I think these two GOATS are still very much strong in their own right to quit playing. Maybe these are just speculations.
1933  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where to play poker with crypto ? on: December 21, 2022, 07:47:33 PM
I think there's a plethora of casinos who allow poker bets already. Winz.io for instance, Cloudbet, and FortuneJack are a few of these casinos who are also reputable enough. So you might wanna visit those if you wanna play poker. Being the game that most casinos would consider the staple gambling game however, it surprises me that these are a litle few. However things could change in the future, casinos and gambling sites must do everything in their power to stay relevant and if more people are into poker they'd certainly include it to remain topical and relevant otherwise they'd get buried amongst the competition.
1934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are no cool games on: December 21, 2022, 07:07:22 PM
I think it's a mix between people not really being comfortable to try new things, seeing as people are most eager to just stick with classic casino games like slots and roulettes plus card games, and a little of the fact that the main driver of casinos earning is by spending less, they wouldn't bother including games like that in their houses. Although licensing game companies like Bandai Namco to install fighting game machines like Tekken inside casinos could be good too, just don't know how the money part will work coz it could either be the two players paying whoever wins outright or a reward system similar to slots could be made.
1935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino bonus is it worth it? on: December 21, 2022, 05:49:07 PM
Lots of casino giving bonus in different form such as free spin, free bet and bonus deposit but some of applies wagering requirements which is very hard to complete without losing money greater than bonus that you acquired. I know that wagering requirements is calculated by the casino so that can't go bankrupt by abusing this bonus.

I follow Duelbits Christmas giveaway since day one and I still can't find the challenge that I know that I can win.

Does completing bonus is still possible and profitable or it's just like chasing the wind?

It is for you to decide. Duelbits' milestones are meant for high-rollers and if you think you won't be able to meet such requirements, then it's fine to just play the way you do, no need to switch up or anything. These as their name imply, are just bonuses. Incentives for playing and betting. You can play and bet without having to meet bonus requirements, although it really urges you to go beyond your means sometimes and bet more especially with how greaf Duelbits is with inspiring people to play on their site. Anyhow, it is up to you whether betting for the bonuses is worth the extra effort or not.
1936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using Bonus Buy or Not Using Bonus Buy? on: December 21, 2022, 04:59:05 PM
As far as I know buying bonuses won't increase your odds of winning. Only increasing what you can win. In that regard I myself wouldn't waste a couple bucks just to give a little umph to my winnings when they aren't even guaranteed in the first place. To me bonuses like these are just a big bait for people who gamble for profit which is not a bad thing in itself unless done excessively but is nonetheless a bait to reel these people in to spending more. At the end of the day a win is a win no matter how big or small that is. You just need to take consideration of your probabilities and threshold, and you're good to go
1937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next generations on bitcoin on: December 19, 2022, 05:00:35 PM
What if 50-100 years from now new generations just fork bitcoin from the beginning to start again because they were not part of the early wealth accumulation? 🤔

In 50-100 years the gap is going to be so massive. Someone born 50 years from now have almost zero chance to own 1 bitcoin while there will be people holding thousands.

Does that mean new generations will have the motive to start bitcoin over again and start spreading the same way Facebook did? Starting from college students and get mass adopted later on?
I don't think a fork is possible since forks must happen within the current chain of the original crypto. I don't need to tell you how hard that was to do with bitcoin considering its creator is nowhere to be found. And a couple of people here were right too, just because a coin is called bitcoin doesn't make it any valuable. The plethora of subpar "bitcoin derivatives" we have as of the moment is enough evidence for this. Moving forward, there's still a promise of transactability in the near 50-100 years even if all bitcoins were to be mined and purchaded already, so a fork isn't really necessary.
1938  Economy / Economics / Re: Forget a return to office: We’re living in the age of side hustles on: December 18, 2022, 08:48:16 PM
The crypto industry opened opportunities for earning in a lot of ways. Flippers and traders are the forefront and the ones who subjectively earns the most money due to the risky nature of their earning venture, whilst freelancers in the industry like coders, builders, community relations lead and partners, as well as other roles that pose importance to most projects thrived in the crypto-based salary. I myself earned a couple thousands just by doing a couple side hustles in a year after COVID-19 has struck.
1939  Economy / Economics / Re: This could be the biggest news in 2022 on: December 18, 2022, 07:45:33 PM
I suppode this entity is trying to buy the bank for its license, given that it's a crypto holdings company and that l8censes for such are hard to come by. And oh boy had they picked the right time. With the recession syill at a rage, banks are suffering the most and have experienced the lowest and most steady decrease in valuation amongst other industries, this means they can easily buy it for cheap with no problems whatsoever. Although honestly, I think the fact that they went after the oldest bank in existence is a little bit of a statement as well, that bitcoin is here to protect everyone, even banks or something along those lines. That's what I get from it at least.
1940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: December 18, 2022, 06:58:07 PM
My BTC savings have lost much value this month, and I know why. We all know. It's the FTX's debacle. Some say it's doomsday for cryptos, but it isn't. There's nothing wrong with BTC. What's wrong is that one crook has stolen honest people's money to make shady investments.

There's only one solution to restore people's confidence. Put the bad guy in jail for a long, long time.
He was just apprehended by the Bahaman Police at the behest of the US justice force a few days ago. As of late they are rolling the case of FTX collapse and wether SBF is guilty of scamming millions of his customers worldwide, which the evidence thus far points towards that direction, or not. Just funny how Kevin "The Most Legal Scammer" O'Leary pinned the blame to CZ and Binance in his court statement, stating that the bank run he generated caused FTX to collapse or something along those lines. Personally I wouldn't buy his BS, but when you consider how senile the people who put our good ol' boy Zuck last 2019 to court, I have my doubts.
