The fact is that a good and quality discussion can be created even on the basis of a zero-effort post.
Then that's where the dilemma lies. No one, even mods, is certain what engaging discussions the zero-effort post can lead to and that's why users don't bother reporting them or mods bother deleting them. It's really a burden if we take a look at it from that perspective. To be honest, you do have a point in there.
2022  Other / Meta / Re: Most users just state their opinion on a topic rather than discuss it on: December 19, 2022, 08:57:29 AM
~Why do people just state their opinions rather than continue a discussion?
Opinion – Discussion.
Discussion – Opinion.

Your observation is right OP. However, I don't think it's because they can't hold a discussion down. It could be other reasons. We get to see more of such scenarios with lower ranked accounts (I'm not saying this condescendingly) and I want to believe it's because they may not know how to watch or remember topics/threads they've commented on to do a follow-up on them. Except one has the BTT bot notifier, it's a huge task following up on discussions if one didn't put them on watch. Sometimes it could be that they get their answers in all within a few responses and don't feel the need to spam in order to meet weekly quota.
2023  Other / Meta / Re: Is word to word copy paste allowed ? on: December 19, 2022, 07:44:08 AM
I don't know why this is allowed. A few people post the exact texts and putting a source link makes them a legal post here which sounds too funny to me. If the OP of the post puts no effort at all and don't put some words from their own, I don't think it should be allowed.
The zero effort in texts like that makes it very boring to read. Personally, I always skip them once I sight posts like that. It's the same thing I do when I find wall of posts in quotes. I like to think that those who do such are either ignorant of how annoying their posts are or simply don't know how to write well. Mods should make it a call to duty to always delete OPs with zero contributions to articles that only just quote and put source links.

Elon Musk presented himself as a bitcoin enthusiast only to gain popularity in the crypto space, It was shocking when he started making negative comments about bitcoin. Clearly, his main objective was to shill doge coin which he did.
Well, to tell you the truth I don't really give a damn with what he does with his investment or money provided he doesn't double speak. We've to admit that he brought Dogecoin to the limelight with his shilling. We know Bitcoin maxims don't like him for talking down on Bitcoin and offloading his hodling when he did but it's his decision to make. He who calls the Piper dictates the tune. What I detest about Elon (or any other human) is double speaking. If he talks about freedom then it should be all encompassing.
2025  Other / Meta / Re: theymos! Please use the forum account on Twitter to tweet on: December 18, 2022, 02:42:01 PM
One of the few uses of the Bitcointalk Twitter account is to notify whether the forum is down.
If the forum is down, I'll know when it doesn't load Wink I don't need Twitter for that.
If that will even be any thought for reactivating the forum's account on Twitter, I think Twitter isn't necessary for BTT then. Let it remain inactive and Elon Musk can do with it whatever pleases him.

I did the opposite: I deleted my account.
Stop making Twitter important. It's not.
You are the second person on the forum who admitted it publicly (besides me), although I may have missed that someone else did it too.
Musk's type of freedom of speech is laced with hypocrisy. He's trying to force subscribers into doing what he wants while crying freedom. Where's the freedom, then? It's good iconoclasts are daring him on that.
2026  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 18, 2022, 08:01:59 AM
~snipped~
Our expenses should also be aligned to our monthly income and if the expenses are too much it will be hard for you to save some money.
Yes, we should take important note of that, regarding expenses often surpassing income. This is where proper planning comes in. Those expenses that we don't have control of like food and healthcare should be made priority while those which are luxurious in nature should be jettisoned or reduced to the bearest minimum. That was why I talked about rentals not exceeding 10% of whatever one earns. Some people earn less but won't like living in environments they can easily pay rents. They want to be reminded or chased around by property owners before they renew their rents.
2027  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 17, 2022, 08:39:34 PM
If you are in twenties or early thirties and remain single, earn $3,000 after tax per month, you will probably save $1,000 if you, let's say, spend $500 to $800 on rental, a guest bedroom in a shared house/apartment
I wanted to read and leave when I realized the issue was specifically addressed to singles until I saw the rental thing. Let me quickly address that. If hypothetically someone on that salary scale decides to spend as much as what you've mapped out there, they should know they aren't getting it right. Your rentals shouldn't be more than 10% of your earnings. If you earn $3k monthly, it will be ok to limit your rentals to $250 – $300 monthly. Anything above that means living above one's means because other aspects of one's life will suffer it.
2028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Chilling Realization on: December 17, 2022, 03:13:59 PM
I noticed this and came to the conclusion that nobody knew anything. Nobody can predict what will happen next.
You must be a fast learner to have come to this salient conclusion. I like the realization, actually. For what it's worth, every speculation shouldn't be taken as a certitude. Speculation is prediction and narrowing it down; it's a guess. However, what makes this type of guess different is the many indicators that guard it. As humans can fail, indicators too do fail. This is what rules out certitude in speculations. That's what it's.
2029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know wich wallet belongs to a phrase? on: December 17, 2022, 02:49:14 PM
Download electrum from its official website, verify your download, create a new wallet and select "Standard wallet" and then "I already have a seed".
Enter your seed phrase and see if it allows you to click on "Next" button. If the next button is grayed out, click on "Options" and select "BIP39". If you see a message saying '"BIP39 (checksum: ok)", click on Next".
You're one of the reasons this place continues to serve as a repertoire of crypto knowledge. Your ease of responding to these issues and the time you expend in doing it effortlessly and blessing others with that knowledge is an admiration, honestly.

Do you see ,,wallet.json'' file? If yes, it may be Electrum
"wallet.json" and "wallet.aes.json" files may be for blockchain.com wallet, some wallet has similar name too.
Good a thing we now have alternatives to the json file stuff. How I hated that process and still loathe it even till date.

for obvious reasons like if anything goes slight wrong then some of you will go and tag the account 🤣
😂😂😂 I had to suppress my laughter when I read the "red" situation. You now see why I said CZ didn't come across to me like someone who's impulsive. He must've thought out the tag situation too. Again, I'm cocksure he has an account here. Otherwise, he wouldn't have remembered the said comment of Satoshi something made some 13 years ago on the said day and tweeted it. The same way I believe CZ is here is the same way I'm sure all major players in the industry have accounts here too.
2031  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Split: Scammed by popter5874 on: December 17, 2022, 10:44:50 AM
As horrible the experience has been for you, please do not let this instance detract you from posting in the forum.
Sorry to differ on that. There's something not adding up as I discovered that OP was registered in this forum in 2018 and has just 3 posts to their name. It's absurd. There must be something also fishing with OP. They aren't without experience. We can't say lack of experience caused an account as old as OP that, can we?

Probably they want to start fresh and use new set of campaign participants to promote them. There reputation is already is tainted so they want there promoters to become clean as much as possible to cover there rotten reputation. Only bought account is the only one that will be joining there campaign in exchange for a few bucks with there limited campaign.
Yes, anyone who is joining 1xbit campaign isn't doing themselves any good, knowing they will sooner than later make their account reddish with tags. Why taint a spotless account because of mere pittance? To be candid, I don't think 1xbit will ever resolve its issue to get all tags removed here in this forum. It's now sour grape type of situation with that company for allowing the issue to linger unnecessarily without resolving it at once. Its reputation is in tatters.
2033  Other / Meta / Re: Ignored user's post on QUOTE is visible on: December 16, 2022, 08:55:03 AM
Why don't we have the option to ignore someone permanently in such a way that we don't see their post without removing them from our ignore list?
It's the same thing that happens with the @BTTSuperNotifier_bot. You get to receive notifications when a user on your ignore list quotes you directly in the forum. That can be annoying too. You don't even know it's a user on your ignore list until you go to read their stuff in the forum. That's when you discover they're on ignore. Yes, I know that users do improve in their posts style and writing and that isn't a reason I would ignore anyone. There are more cogent and tangible reasons to put anyone under ignore, especially if you think they become irritants. To get quoted by such users and one gets to see it is like putting it out in one's face again. Perhaps, the creator of that bot should tweak it a bit to exclude ignored users.

The only unexpected similarity is, Satoshi disappeared due to (likely) being the most wanted man by the elites, while CZ will disappear when becoming the most wanted man by law enforcement (the next SBF).
Do you by your imagination think that Binance winding up will be to the benefit of this industry? You seem excited that something bad should happen to Binance. Trust me, if that happens it will rattle this industry beyond what anyone expects.

~snipped~
Maybe this account "Changpeng Zhao" belongs to him, and after he realized it's not good to use real name as username, he created another account with random name lol. Perhaps he is watching us now.
That account barely lived beyond 30 seconds. I believe it would be an imposter who later thought otherwise and abandoned it. It wouldn't be CZ himself, from observation of his personality, the maverick CZ would've thought out the implication of using his real name before embarking on opening that account. He doesn't sound to me like someone who's impulsive.
2035  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan Defaulted [edgycorner] on: December 16, 2022, 06:32:29 AM
I wouldn't surprised if he would join 1xbit scam campaign.

Well, in theory one of the requirements for joining the 1xBit campaigns is to have no negative feedback when applying, with the exception of negative feedback that has to do with them, but they have so few scruples that I wouldn't be surprised if they even break this very rule.
It baffles me when I see users getting their accounts destroyed over pittance as loans or when they enrol in obvious scam campaigns like the 1xbit stuff. What for? Now the same campaign is asking for accounts without red tags to join. It's an irony they don't want tagged accounts any more even when those accounts got tagged because they joined in their campaign.

OP, you did well by calling that user out. I think I've seen one or two accounts with neutral tags for loans they've not repaid (I'm not sure it's from you though) even after several months they collected it. Scammers shouldn't be allowed to fester, otherwise they will ruin everything.
2036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is crypto staking? Is staking worth it? on: December 15, 2022, 11:45:49 PM
- Depending on how you stake, you might need to entrust your cryptos to exchanges. It might bring security risks.
Not, "it might bring security risks". It actually brings security risks. Once you stake you've entrusted your tokens to the staking site and that makes you vulnerable to whatever happens to the site and even to the token itself (let's say the staking site is different from the token website). Once the project shuts down, that's farewell to your investment. I experienced this first hand. So, always consider the risk more than you would dream of the profit to be made from it. Most times, the profit to be made from it isn't even worth the risk.
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the bear market over? on: December 15, 2022, 05:51:07 PM
Nope, the bear season is far from being over. If anything, I think it will extend to 2023 and should stretch to the last quarters of that year. This isn't to scare anyone but remind us that past data have shown it's a possibility for history to repeat itself. The little run upward we get now shouldn't be seen as a bull run starting. This is December, most investors don't invest at this time. So, I don't see any huge money going into the market at this time. Whatever we have now should be taken as a bull trap.

2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: US is targeting Binance on: December 13, 2022, 08:46:18 PM
IMO this is all a plot to drive customers away from Binance and led them to Coinbase...

What do you guys think about this?
What I think? Well, for starters, I think you're just making a wild accusation there by mentioning that it's a ploy to lead Binance's dissatisfied customers to Coinbase. What are your facts on this issue? No?

Anyway, just for discussion, if you see today's Bitcoin pump, that can be because users are fleeing to BTC, trading their altcoins from Binance to BTC. And then, they will withdraw their BTC from Binance. Or it probably is a nothing burger, just business as usual.
Yes, there's a possibility that traders and investors are trading their altcoins for Bitcoin. That could be the cause for today's pump we've witnessed so far. However, we can't be sure they're doing the buying and selling on Binance. It can be on any other exchanges.
2040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BNB Coin Hit $300 Mark in 2023? on: December 13, 2022, 08:09:11 PM
What do you think, Binance price will surge above $289 or bearish trend will drag it down?
If in the face of ongoing tribulation at Binance exchange as read that CZ Binance is on searchlight by relevant authorities, BNB has still not crumbled but trading around $270, it goes to show how strong and viable that coin is. What I think is that BNB, which once got to $600+, will break its own last ATH by 2023 after this current bear season.

I actually wouldn’t blame people for shorting BNB here. I am bearish on it. I think it’s past due for a correction and think it should be trading below $200.
Well, trade decisions are a matter of choice. However, I know those shorting it now have themselves to blame because price has continued to soar since today. It doesn't even look like it's slowing down soon.
