He is a man who deserves to be celebrated and praised for making life easier for the common man and providing a means of livelihood for some who found it here for themselves.
There's a place in my thought that keeps telling me that Satoshi didn't completely leave this forum. I believe he didn't want to be praised beyond the ordinary or worshipped like a god and that's why he saliently left. If that account were still active, users here would be falling over it, trust me. Being the tactician and master planner that he was, Satoshi must be operating another account here and reading most of these comments.

Control your emotion, believe me, emotion is your biggest number one enemy. Especially the fear and greed know how to stop loss and know how to take profit.
You're spot on! Emotion is the game killer and OP should watch it. I sensed they're already getting carried away with the little winnings they're recording. My two cents to OP will be that they shouldn't allow their emotions get in the way. Treat every winning as a normal thing. Don't see it as something extraordinary.

Please don't stay away from BTC since if you can predict BTC moves you can predict the most market is going. In fact, most of traders that I have followed what they do first is predict BTC moving after that they start to analyze the altcoin. Bitcoin waves is real.
You're right. That's how I follow trades most times. I look at what Bitcoin is doing to gauge what altcoins should be doing because once Bitcoin catches cold or sneezes others get the infection, so to say.

4. Stay informed - Be up to date with news
Anyone with a hodl mentality and is serious about it won't be watching the news. They just buy, move away from news and then wait to take profit when others rush to the market to buy. Only traders keep themselves acquitted with the news, not investors with hodl mentality.

A person who actually knows and has conviction in what he/she is investing(bitcoin or any other asset) in doesn't really need "tips".
There's always room for improvement, and that's why we have upgrades and updates on apps. There's no harm in people admitting they don't know it all.
2044  Other / Meta / Re: List of Inactive Mods (Last seen a long time ago), do we need replacements ? on: December 13, 2022, 11:47:22 AM
I agree with the OP the rot set in with the admins and mods a long time ago and a broom needs to be taken to sweep out the cobwebs from that long dead list.
Rebooting that is a way out of this "quagmire". What's happening now reminds me of a newspaper company I was affiliated to a few years ago. The publisher made sure news stories that weren't properly covered with correspondents didn't have names of reporters on them. Instead he would write, "By Our Reporter" on the story. It was bad ethics of the writing profession. I never heard or read of such until that time. I knew of pseudo names but not of blank names.
2045  Other / Meta / Re: What’s wrong with Gambling Discussion board on: December 13, 2022, 10:13:03 AM
As a manager I will lower my gambling section requirement to 4 per week. It's not much but it is better than not lowering it at all. Hopefully some managers will follow suit and lower the requirements as well.
I wouldn't want to go into all that arguement of 4 posts weekly not being any different from 5 posts per week, I think what managers should do is ask for maximum weekly posts in gambling as against minimum. That will help curtail spam posting. I've run into a few posters whose posts were all in gambling and that's for the purpose of meeting up weekly quota. They spam to meet up.

I always check this site, which is helpful for altcoins too.
Btw, the btc network withdrawal fee for binance is probably given wrong there. The fee is 0.0002 btc currently, not 0.0005, checked myself on the exchange. So not sure how reliable it is Sad
Anyway this topic is discuss about gambling discussion matter, not exchange withdrawal fee.
Well, while at it I think it will be better to settle the score at once. Edwardard wasn't wrong in what they pointed out after all. There are two Binance exchanges listed there and both have two different withdrawal charges. On my Binance account the withdrawal charge for Bitcoin is 0.0002 BTC and that's $3.4 in today's value. I know my account isn't Binance US because I opened it the same year Binance was established in 2017. Then Binance had just one account.

Only had 1 sMerit left else I would have given you more, so don't take it as an insult.
Well, perhaps the biblical Prince of Persia withheld it from getting to me just the way it held on to Daniel's blessings as I'm yet to get even the 1 🤔.

I will ask you, does it really hurt your eyes when you see the name of those inactive moderators? it's really decrease your quality post when you see their username?
Stop being sarcastic in the face of real issues. Of course, it doesn't hurt my eyes or anyone's but we're talking of the right thing getting done. If you're nonchalant that it shouldn't be an issue that inactive names are placed while some other user(s) do(es) the dirty job, then it means you adopt the attitude of "anything goes". People should be acknowledged for their works. It's as simple as that.

2047  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: November 2022 worst month for cryptocurrency newbies here is lessons. on: December 13, 2022, 06:37:06 AM
Honestly, November shocked even me. I was of the opinion that it was going to be a moving month for Bitcoin. I called it Movember but it didn't move the last month. It was disappointing for me to see my projections crumble. I know there were others too who expected a bull rally in November but got the same sad awakening. I don't see (expect) price picking this December, though it's looking promising today and trading above $17k. I believe it's going to slump after a few days.

~snipped~
this too can also be seen as "just another World Cup 2022 topic".
Exactly! That's just it. In seeking to correct something thought to be wrong, this thread also technically joins "what is wrong". There's likely another thread that will want to condemn this thread, that too will become a part of the fray. The list may be longer than this before the end of the world cup if care isn't taken. Nevertheless, the good thing about all this is that most of these threads, that's if not all, will lose their relevance and die a natural death once the world cup is over.

You are wrong, especially when spams and reports are handled effectively. Example is beginners me help, it has no moderator, but it is effectively moderated.
Really? Did you say there's no mod for Beginners & Help? Where are you coming from, dude? Didn't you see MiningBuddy as a mod there? How come you said there's no mod there? Yes, the user hasn't been active for a few years now and that is part of what prompted the OP. So, instead of putting a name there that isn't active as mods while someone else does the job why not put the real user who is doing the job. But again, I guess you missed the question OP is seeking resolution to.

If boards are well moderated, do not complain about anything related to this forum moderation. Why should people complain about something that is good.
I don't think it's a crime seeking clarifications on issues. Even theymos wouldn't hush users when they complain.
2050  Other / Meta / Re: The long waited Nickname has been given (The Sceptical Chymist) on: December 12, 2022, 08:48:33 AM
I will try to replace it with the short tag of TSC instead of frequently crosschecking my spelling of the new name.
I was even thinking of shortening the new name to The Chymist instead of twisting my tongue to pronounce The Sceptical Chymist as a full phrase.
I think a great number of users are going to alternate between TSC and The Chymist than going all full. Perhaps, a few of those who like being formalistic will type out The Sceptical Chymist. I know, expectedly, they're going to be more name change requests from other users in the future. If I may even ask, and this is directing it to the entire community; may be specifically to theymos, is there any standard rule for name change? I ask this because the two cases we've experienced here so far didn't have the same reason demanding name change.
2051  Other / Meta / Re: The long waited Nickname has been given (The Sceptical Chymist) on: December 12, 2022, 07:36:47 AM
I guess I won't run into any problem if I refer to the user as Nee The Pharmacist 🧐. This name change thing makes it look like what happens in my country when ladies get married, their surnames get changed too.

Well, I think Xmas came too early for TSC. Felicitations! While I obliterate The Pharmacist from my mind, I will try to replace it with the short tag of TSC instead of frequently crosschecking my spelling of the new name.
2052  Other / Meta / Re: So many threads on FIFA World Cup 2022 on: December 12, 2022, 07:21:09 AM
I just had a look at the first page of the Gambling Discussion Board. It was my surprise to see 5 threads on FIFA world cup 2022 on the 1st page. I didn't bother to check 2nd page or other; don't know if there are more but I guess there will be a few more threads as well.
Expectedly, there won't be more of FIFA stories and threads beyond the first page because all of them are getting bumped to the front page every minute. This is an active season for FIFA World Cup and so every thread on the world cup are always active and on the first page.

Quote
Why moderators didn't lock/delete all this garbages? I guess there's no need for all these threads; having 1/2 is more than enough I guess.
Duplicate threads should be reported to mods for vetting. If they're needlessly opened, should be taken down. However, it seems the mods are overwhelmed with work as some of these reported cases aren't taken up and resolved within a short time. It's possible that those threads have already been reported but it may take a longer time for actions to be taken on them.

1. Andreas Schildbach - Last active: February 13, 2018 - Board: Bitcoin Wallet for Android
This board isn't really active, there's no need to find a new moderator.
I think you missed the point OP made there. We all have seen how inactive Andreas Schildbach has become since 2018. If that user has been that inactive, why still leave their name there? That's the basic question. Why not put the username of whoever that has been keeping that section running. Even if it's theymos himself who has taken up the moderation of that section, he should put his name there. I think that's the most logical and understandably thing to do. The same thing should happen too to all the parts OP pointed out.

Other merit sources have become inactive and maybe don't feel like it's a "job".
Shouldn't now be the right time to effect the Matthew principle of taking from those who don't have and pilling it on those who have and implement it as a practical reality here then? I don't see any reason certain MS will go to sleep after their honourary selection for a task. It will do the community a lot of good if their merit "sourceship" is revoked and handed over to those whose applications for merit are still pending. I think it will be better that way.
2055  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading and investing, and still very broke.why? Is it spiritual? on: December 10, 2022, 04:12:49 PM
OP, you must be African because that's the mindset of every failing African losing in trades. I'm African and I speak from experience on this. I used to think such trash when I started trading. In fact, I used to think my desktop was a mirror through which enemies of my progress monitored every damn trade call I made. I would get into a sell position on an obvious selling trade but it would quickly turn buy and vice versa😆. It was a frustrating experience for me then. However, I've grown past that mentality now. I now know nothing of such. It's just the irony of buying when others are opting out or one swimming against the tide. Nobody is attacking anybody spiritually on trading. Nah! Nobody.

Trading should not be to eliminate poverty,
Why should I trade then if I don't believe it's likely to change my financial status? Of course, it's because of the need to be better financially that makes someone like me want to go into trading. No two ways about it. Otherwise, why trade then?
2056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Demo Account, Should Not Be Related To A Real Account on: December 10, 2022, 03:19:39 PM
might take the bold step of funding a real account with now a changed psychology and totally different mindset and emotions, yet still make great losses when trading real accounts
You said it well, OP. It's the reality of the psychology involved that gets to people, either to mess them up (real account) or to make them relaxed and nonchalant (demo account). Otherwise, both demo and real account are the same in trading dynamics. It's because we tend to be more careful and involved when we trade real account than we are with demo that often make us involve our emotions and make them amok during trading. For anyone to be successful trading, they've to put a check on their emotions.
2057  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Top whales shake out and fuds starting with xrp 3 fuds on: December 10, 2022, 10:47:35 AM
I wouldn't say what happened with FTX is FUD – Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt. Nope, it's not. What happened was a clear case of misapplication of business sense and strategy by Sam Fried. We read a part of what happened and how CZ Binance who wanted to take over the exchange said the books/records were really messed up. No matter how the real situation was going to be masked, it will still be exposed sooner than later. Sam Fried messed up FTX. He shouldn't blame anyone for what happened. It's just a pity that its app which I use for tracking my tokens is gone now.

And also stop watching the price of Bitcoin or chart from time to time. It will not help you.
If your goal is for the long term, you don't need to observe the chart 24/7.
Go out, meet someone or do some things that will help you to avoid watching charts from time to time.
Especially, go out and meet senoritas if you're a good fella. Advice taken 😆. Well, the "stop watching the price of Bitcoin or chart from time to time" can only work for investors but not for traders who constantly it's consequent on them to do so. To be honest with you it's even time wasting to expect any upward movement from Bitcoin at the moment because it's a bear season. The only advisable thing to do now I'll be to Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) on it. Buy bits if you can't afford a whole at once. Not to buy at all will be an action that will be regretted by this time in 2023.
2059  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ftx who and when Will fund losses ? What's the further plan ? on: December 10, 2022, 07:35:34 AM
My dad use to say dont hold debt pay your debt always fast so Same advice to FTX team pay your debt right time.
Sorry to burst your bubbles here. The scenario your father painted to you isn't the same as what transpired in the FTX case. Owing debt and incurring losses from business investments aren't the same thing as taking a loan from someone and not being able to repay it. That's a debt while the other is "investment gone wrong" You can't blame anyone if what you invested in goes awry. You only have yourself to blame. In this case, everyone who invested in the SBF exchange FTX should take responsibility for their actions. Crypto is unregulated.

if anything, I'm pretty sure they'd want to see this industry burn to the ground.
But of course, that's an obvious fact; knowing how the government supports bad press against the crypto industry. Anyone thinking government would do otherwise is a newcomer to this game.
2060  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Imagine a crypto world without VCs on: December 10, 2022, 05:17:31 AM
Is it fine to say that crypto world would be better still today without the involvement of VCs? Or there is a catch?
You may want to define an abbreviation you're using for the first and which isn't a popular terminology. It's a good way to start. Don't take this for granted. Assumption is not a good way to start or leave a thing. You took for granted that everyone knows what a VC is and I've read a couple of wavering comments on that. Now, in your conception, what is a VC? I believe a proper alignment of that will get you real responses to the question you asked.
