Seems the forum has been down for a couple hours.....

Down more than up the last few days.

True, but I still find it quite extraordinary that 1 btc can only buy 1/10th of the coins it could just a few weeks ago.

I want so bad to buy more, but wow... that mental barrier is still taking me time to adjust to! Tongue

I'm adjusting OK, BTC has conditioned me somewhat.  You just have to convince yourself that even if you make a poor call on the timing, and the price goes down, eventually you will be able to call these 'cheap coinz'  Grin

Impressive halt once again on the dumping, though it did swallow a good chunk of the realistic bids.  Also impressive is that the book is inexorably refilling.  Again.

lift off?

Feels that way.  The whole order book is moving up, not just a blip at market range.  Maybe a precursor, but looking good.

It's like friday night came early on polo.   Shocked

It appears that not everyone has the patience to wait for the weekend.  I'm waiting (patiently?) for a last try dump.  Will it come, and how deep will it cut?

Another bear in the ring  Wink

Hardly.  Just a Bull that doesn't like being mauled.  If I see the bear coming, I do my part to help gore it to its end.

Well anyway free speech, its meaning, and purpose, are super interesting topics that I would love to talk about. But it just feels... wrong... here. That's why we should have an off topic thread.

There was one, quite a while back.  Can't remember who started it, but it just sort of died out.  We're pretty active now, and probably for the next (months?) or more, maybe time to find and revive it or start a new one.

I have a small amount of btc that should arrive tomorrow and is earmarked for Monero.  Can't wait to buy at my highest price yet. Grin Tongue

Good on yer.  I'm done buying for now because I've been neglecting other expenses but going Full Ramen was the best thing I've ever done. Cool

Lol.. full ramen, thanks that's awesome!!! I am regretting not doing so now myself. But.. There is still time. Wink

Full Ramen.  LOL.  I've resembled that for a long, long while.  Well, up til 0.07x.  Yes. it was worth it.  The steaks this last couple weeks have been oh. so. good.

I'm just not sure if I should wait for the incoming weekend pump to buy into right now, or wait and see if it drops again next week.... thoughts? I know it's like predicting what Donald Trump will say next, but .. ya know... Tongue

I guess it depends on your position now.  If you have none, I'd buy at least 1/2 of what you want to spend right now.  If you are just adding a little to a position, just nibble at the buffet, while waiting to see what else they will bring out  Tongue
FOMO won't let you wait too long, regardless.

Not me. I'm more scared of missing an up swing than a down.

Oh, I'm not waiting to buy.  My bags are full, sitting at the launch pad.  I'm only 'waiting'  because I need to keep tabs on my margin long.  I don't think it will go deep enough to hurt me,  but once bit...  I will remain vigilant, just in case.  Better to get out with a modest loss of recent profits than to ride down and burn it all.  If it goes far enough to do that, I doubt it recovers any time soon anyway.  FOMO is why my long is not riding a substantial gain right now.  That and the pleasure eating short walls  Grin

That loan book  Shocked

Collecting 2% while waiting for the pop is... Nice.

Looks like there's a couple hundred thousand in shorts to cover...

OVER 10 K BTC in bids....  Shocked I hope the number stays like this.

I had to work a few hours this morning.  I came back to note the 10K bid stack.  At first my stomach dropped to the floor.  My sleep deprived brain short circuited it to 1000, as 10000 is outside it's experience.  If this keeps up, I'm going to stop working.  Its a serious drain on my time!

Get a phone app with a price alarm, then ignore it.

Are there any apps of this kind in iOS AppStore? For bitcoin i happily use "Bitcoin Ticker", but can't find anything like that for XMR.

For Android, I use Blockfolio.  I haven't figured out how to erase dash and ripple from the interface, but I will.

Select, and delete.  First thing I did  Grin
Nice App.

Monero Status App is still as screwy as it was 2 years ago.

Aaaaannd back over 6000 BTC buy orders.  Are the shorters of that dump going to get wiped by the rebound?  Its getting harder and harder to tell.  Glad I whittled my long way down a while back.  What's left is still afloat, but I might have to hold my breath for a bit in the near future.  Playing with profits only is SO much less stressful!
2114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 06, 2016, 07:14:11 AM
XMR volume remains greater than the sum of all the other coins combined on Polo; I wonder how long it will be before another of the big exchanges announces it is opening a market.

I going to posit that will be the next major news.

Well we've been poking at the major exchanges for a year and more.  Kraken, for one, I know replied always that they were aware of it, but too busy to do anything ATM.  I bet the recent weeks' excitement has moved it toward the top of the stack.
2115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 07:55:43 PM
About miners dumping.  The current daily emission is a bit over 7700/day.  Almost every 15 min candle is way above that.  During this last dump there was a 15min red candle of just under 200K and during the rise before it there were 2 green candles of >200K.  Ofc having a higher % of mined coins being sold quickly will have some affect but I just don't think it's all that much.  The other way to look at it is how many new coins/day does the market want?  Does the addition of maybe 2K/day to be sold make much of a difference in the market now?

I started mining again with my super computer about 6 weeks ago because I smelled something in the air.  At 35H/s I currently own 0.0001% of the network HR and have accrued 0.3 Monero.  Doesn't sound like much but with this I have doubled my holdings.

That's nothing on my mining operation.  I'm pulling a steady 8 H/s, with sometimes spikes up into the teens!  So far it hasn't returned anything, and that's after months and months.  I think it's just too powerful, and the blocks I mine just vaporize or something.

Current network rate of 37.94 MH/s  OMFG.  its about time.
2116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2016, 05:18:02 AM
As I have said a couple times there is a breed of miner associated with Monero who is not particularly interested in the Monero Network itself. They are interested in using as many computers as possible to make as many Monero as possible as fast as possible and then to sell the majority of those also as quickly as possible.

Monero has always had a certain percentage of this breed of miner. The only thing different now is there is more incentive for these sweethearts to help "secure our Network".

Current network rate 31.32MH/s.  Highest I can recall seeing.  Good times.
2117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 10:08:27 PM
The dump happened at the exact same time btc shot up.

Pull up the charts on Bitcoinwisdom. It looks like the Dump on Polo was a full hour before the rise of BTC.

It was coordinated dump for maximum effect..

1st Whale dumps big and puts the market into panic mode.
2nd BTC spikes... when least expected as you said aprox 1 hour later
Long Live Monero

If thats the case it had the opposite effect, the first thing that went in my mind after seeing BTC going up was... someone is buying more BTC to acquire moneroj since its the easier way still.

I've had 2 people inquire how to get XMR (therefore BTC).  Not interested when I put BTC in front of them early 2013.  Not interested when I put XMR in front of them 2014.  I'm used to it. Same disinterest when I made the case for gold <$300.    Suddenly FOMO on BTC2 strikes, and its a good idea.  Takes some longer to grasp the potential than others.

Its all fun and games until someone makes a fortune  Wink

LOL @ all the panic sellers on Polo...  Grin

I bought a little at 188.  Does this mean I am falling for the whale dumpers master plan?

No, it means you had your order in place  Cry

I thought to catch it after the first bounce, but was off by 0.00001 or so and missed out.  Not looking like a retest is coming soon  Shocked

Awww y'all came back to get me  Tongue

Dat dump doe

wowza.... looks like around 40k XMR just got dumped.  Shocked

I don't doubt that is big money defining a line here.

40k when we did FIVE MILLION volume in the last 24h doesn't really register.  Of course, one or two have been sold since then  Cheesy

Yeah, but when you are doing as much volume as we had today on a rise and comparing that to a really short period on the drop that seemed to happen as 1 big dump, that is different.
I don't know, didn't look, but were there dumps that large during the leg up today? I got the feeling it was way way smaller that that but I didn't look much, so maybe I stand corrected.

edit - RayX12 - Could be...

Not quite that large, no.  But the big dump period(~500K?)  (not the 40K trickle) definitely dumped into a lower, less dynamic book.  Looks like 5K orders is having a hard time maintaining now, though it was dumped down to ~3000.
