Is there a source for the historical data on Poloniex XMR lending? Been so busy that somehow managed to completely ignore this interesting economic phenomenon this far  Cheesy

Only that I know of:

That big wall is someone trying to short, see:

http://monerodice.pd.to/polo.php
Shorting Monero is a fool's errand.

They throw money, we catch it.  Cool game.

Anyone know what the 20 min gap in the chart is?  Was that BTCWisdom, or Poloniex?
2144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 02, 2016, 09:26:55 PM
The depth chart on polo is simply awesome in itself today. Grin

Ya, back to bull mode, with a vengeance!  The bid sum has finally shown some wear and tear, but not near as much as the asks, which are down about 1/2 from ~12 hours ago.
2145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 02, 2016, 09:01:58 PM
had to go work for a few hours, and I come back to a much higher price, and a much stronger order book, even though about a million XMR changed hands in that time.  Wild ride!
2146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 02, 2016, 06:12:49 PM
150k buys in 15 minutes.  Bids?  Unaffected  Grin

Very impressive!  Wink

Another 125K to ATH, so I won't get excited, as it will likely take more than one push to get there.  But... I'm excited  Cheesy

Monero critics out in the wild point to very low XMR transaction count - about 3 per block in last couple hours.  "...doesn't support today's price...".

Are they wrong?

It's been officially engaged in commerce for hours and hours now.  What's taking so long  Roll Eyes

Up to .03 by Monday....hahahaa

I'll place a few asks, just in case.  I am pretty sure I can get them back, and I am xmr-heavy anyhow.  From 00635 to 01875 is roughly 3x, so asks between 250 and 450 make sense.

That makes sense.  I suppose I could risk selling some around $25 in expectation of a healthy correction.
$16 is on the depth chart at polo already.  $25 is a brief catapult beyond.

295K XMR available under 0.01875
6400+ BTC bids
lots of shorts taken, possibly well represented within that pile of resistance.
powder keg.

Wondering if we are in for another w/e like the last one.

I have a question about the "view key" feature. There are some people saying that this feature will be a weakness for Monero because a court order can be made to make you show your transactions thru view key. I just want to know what is the purpose of it and why the development team made the decision to put it there. Is it there to assist the authorities if indeed someone is caught making an illegal transaction using XMR?

Sometimes the books need to be opened to the accountant, but you don't want said trusted entity to be overpowered by greed upon seeing your vast wealth of XMR.  SO,  a view-only key is provided, to allow transparent accounting, without relinquishing or sharing spending authority.

There's nothing saying you can't have 200 other wallets held in a more discrete manner.  Discreet too Wink

Hash rate edging 30MH/s

Node count slipped quite a bit, but like the price, WAY higher than a week ago.

Just saying why is this big whale continuing to bluff with big walls like this?

It's not a bluff, it's a bid.  Feel free to dump into it.  If you want to exit Monero with little slippage, now is the time.  It's a very nice liquidity offer.  Why criticize such a nice offer?

Actually this is quite relevant as well since it was put originally quite close to the spot (I've followed this). On the other hand, the wall guy or girl is playing games with us. He first sets walls and the bids are increased to around 7 000 btc, then suddenly pulls off 1000 btc from buy orders. I am not quite sure what he is trying to do...
But to me it doesn't matter. I think Monero is still severely undervalued.

Thats what I was thinking...some games are being played here.

I'm sure it's a legit bid - but he or she isn't keeping it up for very long.

Not sure whats going on.

Games.  People play games why?  Because it's fun!  Doesn't necessarily have to be a greater motive than that.

For some reason brought this to mind  Cheesy

I'm trying to transfer some monero from MyMonero to Poloniex. I got the deposit address and payment ID from polo, copied and pasted it all into MyMonero and clicked the compelte button but nothing seemed to happen. My balance on MyMonero didn't go down and it's been 15 minutes and so far nothing has shown up on Polo... any idea what could've happened?

update on this one. It finally showed up on polo... it took 45 minutes though... is that common? I set the mix to just 3...

I've had transactions take 30-35 minutes before.  Most times its about 10 minutes.  Might have something to do with the traffic at Polo.

Keep in mind that your transactions stay in the memory pool while the mix segments are being matched.  Depending on traffic and the amounts in play it can take a while.

Is there any way to see the pending send transaction on MyMonero? That was one thing that was a bit frustrating... I couldn't see that there was anything that was trying to go through...

Go to BALANCES tab.  Select DEPOSITS & WITHDRAWALS.  scroll down to 'Looking for your Deposit & Withdrawal History?'.  Click.  View.

...and the good news just continues to roll down the pike.  Article after article.  Things are looking good for the moment.

And 240 active nodes.  I *think* that's the highest I've seen.   Goes with the current 26MH/s nicely.

I noticed it was up around 245 earlier today.  Did not see any additional activity in China though.

Total nodes is at 416 currently:

https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html

Yeah, the 2hr doubling was pretty impressive, if suspect.

Consider suing Bloomberg News for tortious libel, causing grevious loss of substance.  A class action suit, anyone?

I was feeling the hate in that article.  Only pointing to the negative.  How about some balance in not showing opinion. The writer needs to do a little more homework.

I was expecting worse...  Bloomberg, you know.

Here comes the falling knife

There it is huh. Well lets see how high the low is Smiley

Not that low... had some bids in the low 12s....ah well.
I imagine some of the larger holders just increased their holdings significantly as the trollbox went into OMGdump-a-drive

And it brought on the 100k btc 24h volume.  wow

Let the stuffing out of the bid wall for sure.  Watching it reflate never ceases to amaze me.
