2181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 02, 2022, 09:31:41 AM
DIP is hard to find. At least it's hard to predict. You say it's here and it falls further. You ask if you should buy it and it's gone before you do. Those who can find it are really lucky. I see it as around 13 thousand dollars in bitcoin. At least I will make my purchases gradually from here.

But is it better to buy the DIP during the bear market cycle even if it DIPs more, or to buy the peaks of the bull cycle? You see the difference? You say it's "hard to find the DIP", BUT during bull markets, many of those same people who said that it's "hard to find the DIP", also say that the people who actually bought the bear market DIPs, are "just lucky". Roll Eyes
2182  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 01, 2022, 10:31:20 AM
I know many of you fellow HODLers, who probably have an average buying price that's higher than Bitcoin's current price, are very very frustrated right now. But it's the bear market part of the cycle, and there's nothing plebs like us can do to change it.

BUT there is ALWAYS a BULL MARKET after every bear market, and Bitcoin will surge again, and to six digits, https://twitter.com/btcmemecreator/status/1560993253754687488

my withdraw is "SOON".
can you check please.

Same here.I manage to withdraw yesterday but today my account was asked to undego KYC while account is not accessible anymore. I don't know what's happening but I'm surprised that I was asked for KYC today even though my balance is just 150$. This happened after I asked about my pending withdrawal in the casino. I hope this will be resolved but for now I have no choice than to comply on the KYC to retrieve my account. Sad to see that I've been required to do KYC after a long years of playing here.

I hope the admin will give announcement on what's going on.

All users should expect that their favorite centralized cryptocurrency service, whether it is a casino or an exchange will ask for KYC sooner or later. I had the same experience with an exchange years ago, but I had no choice and to comply and submit my I.D. because it was more than $150 in that account.

my withdraw is "SOON".
can you check please.

You can ask the Admins in the chatbox. They reply quickly in my experience.
2184  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: September 01, 2022, 07:19:51 AM
"Enforce"? How has WasabiWallet enforced anything?
By refusing to coinjoin your "tainted" coins. There's no way to use their centralized coordinator if they don't want you to, because they are enforcing a blacklist.
It's simply a trade-off to protect itself from being sanctioned like Tornado Cash, if you don't like it, use JoinMarket or fork the coordinator that don't block any outputs.
This is your idea, though. Wasabi never said it is working with authorities and even denied having been pressured by them in any way or form.

For all we know, from the officially available information, this is purely their idea; they have no government contacts or interaction, they do not have access to government-mandated, -authorized or -enhanced blacklists and if / when their blacklist goes into service, it's not at all guaranteed that coins coming out of Wasabi are considered 'clean' by exchanges, regulators and governments around the world. Not at all. There is no guarantee they won't face the same treatment as Tornadocash, either!
The arguments you are presenting are pure speculation and purely your fantasy ideas. Please stop spreading misinformation.

You're right, there are no "guarantees", but nopara73 also can't just wait for a government agency to sanction WasabiWallet, and have the police come to his home and arrest him. He accepted the trade-off to keep Wasabi's pool "untainted", and probably hope that he doesn't get arrested. But he only had two paths, shut Wasabi down, or block tainted outputs. He chose to block tainted outputs.
2185  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High inflation is causing GLOBAL protests on: September 01, 2022, 07:08:10 AM
Inflation in my country per month continues to increase by an average of about 0.4% per month based on information from the State Statistics Department. But what residents feel is more than that number. the price of food continues to rise, the price of transportation increases, so do the daily necessities. But maybe my country isn't badly affected by inflation. because the increase is still affordable by the community. so that no particular group has voiced demonstrations. but if this inflation continues. then maybe there will be protests.

Ask the small business in your area how much their electricity bill is, and ask them if the bill keeps going higher, if they can stay open for business. I've been reading that some small businesses, like coffee shops, in some regions on Europe have been receiving electricity bills at €9,000 per month. A small coffee shop can't pay for that every month.

OP, he was also assumed to change is writing style, from posting in American-style English, then British-style English. I would also suspect that it wouldn't be crazy to presume that he would also talk to himself in the forum. Because what if Hal Finney was really Satoshi? How many technical "discussions" did they have in the forum?
2187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High inflation is causing GLOBAL protests on: August 30, 2022, 11:21:07 AM
I don't think it's pointless to protest against inflation. Because the causes of inflation and the types of inflation are many, the protest makes some sense. And the recent protest in Sri Lanka is taken as an example. The only way to survive inflation is not to make more money but to control inflation. That's why the protesters urge the government and federal bank to control it.
Then, whether the Sri Lankan government and federal bank can control this now?
Because controlling inflation is not an easy thing and every important element of the country must all move so that inflation can be controlled properly. Because the government will not be able to do it alone and still have to involve more people in it so that inflation can be controlled.

What are these protest for?

People protest for a day and then they go back to their home and forget what has happened yesterday. These protest will not bring any good unless they are consistent and they make real demands and ask gov for the relief. nothing is going to change with one hour protest.

They protest probably because they are hungry, because they have nothing to feed their families, because they were laid off from their jobs, or probably they know while they are going through a crisis, their government continues to steal from the people/country.

Maybe you are lucky that you are not in a position the same as they. You can still eat, you have your savings, you have your job.

The people in Bangladesh are starting to do their own kind of protest. Hunt for politicians, https://twitter.com/radiogenova/status/1563212468851052544?s=12&t=zmB_iDz-JXEzGwPy5FOHVQ

I understand, sympatize and actually also agree with your viewpoint, but understand that WasabiWallet controls a centralized coordinator. To illustrate, if ChipMixer decided to block "tainted outputs" what can we really do? Either accept the trade-off, or stop using the mixer.

Quote

Because if Wasabi/nopara73 didn't accept the trade-off to block outputs from "illegal transactions", the government would still enforce "their regulations".

And if every service or platform refused to enforce taint, what then? The government regulations only work because of companies like Wasabi which implement them on behalf of governments instead of fighting against them like real privacy projects do.

That would truly be a problem. Expect that anything centralized, their developers can do what they want. From the point of view of the service itself, it would be understandable if they accepted the trade-off to avoid sanctions. Their service, their decision.
2189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An article on how to be a Bitcoin maximalist on: August 30, 2022, 07:17:21 AM
Also, for anyone who really read the article, I reckon Pete Rizzo is desperate to convince the readers that the limitations of bitcoin are only short term in this statement.

they believe that these crypto assets and services are profiting off the short-term limitations of Bitcoin,

However in the same article he mentioned a commitment to slow software changes.

3. A Commitment to Slow Software Changes and Enfranchising Users

This appears for me as a request for everyone to be patient for updates that might never arrive. There is nothing wrong with this. Bitcoin should continue being a store of value if the community and the developers want it and leave the other developments, experimentations and scams to other projects.

You're right, there IS NOTHING WRONG with it. If Bitcoin only does one thing, a Store of Value, we truly know that it does that one thing the best. Let Bitcoin be Bitcoin, and let it be the best in what it can do without fault-finding and name-calling. If you want a cryptocurrency with a Turing Complete system, buy Ethereum. If you want a cryptocurrency with big blocks because you believe that it's Peer to Peer cash, buy Bitcoin Cash. Simple.
2190  Economy / Economics / Re: Who will Replace Russian Gas Supplies to Europe? on: August 29, 2022, 11:03:27 AM
I think Europe is working on alternatives from newer gas suppliers like azerbaizan, there is an undersea pipeline something called Nord stream 1. The way green energy is penetrating. I think, in a few decades we might not need Russian gas. But yes for this europeans have to thake some really strict steps and self discipline themselves. But yes it will be worth the effort and will allow us to reach reduced emission levels.

Decades? But the winter is coming in a few months, and it's projected that electricity and heating prices will increase, exceeding current prices by 80% more. Plus what about winter 2023? The sanctions by the U.S. and Western Europe on Russia is what caused the problem, but what did the sanctions do to Russia?

Majority ownership of Nord Stream 1 and 2 belongs to Gazprom, a Russian state company.

avoiding debates from the younger crowd posting previously in this topic, that pretend they know whats best.. (they seem more of the cultish group)

i am from the 2012 entrance era of bitcoin.

But yet you teach newbies that Bitcoin "split" into two, "Bitcoin Core" and "Bitcoin Cash", and you always suggested that the "real Bitcoin" is the one that maintains "Peer to peer electronic cash" through having cheap onchain fees and bigger blocks.

Quote

my definitions of a true maximalist are
supports and wants to protect BITCOIN consensus and protocols of the network, even against the human devs that may want to stifle, redefine bitcoin for their own profitable reasons

That's just an opinion/accusation of yours. I believe the Core developers are the rightful stewards of the network.

Quote

uses bitcoin for its store of value and utility.. but does not fear reading, researching, learning about other systems

does not object to other systems/networks. but is not afraid to call out on the ones with flaws people should be risk aware of

OK, then are you open to the fact that there are developers who are learning, researching and developing another system called the Lightning Network?

Cool
2192  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: August 29, 2022, 05:53:29 AM
There are no guarantees, yes, but it doesn't change the whole point that there are more risks that WasabiWallet is merely trying to avoid by accepting the trade off by having their coordinator block outputs used in "illegal transactions".

The risks that you claim Wasabi are trying to avoid only exist because companies like Wasabi are enforcing them in the first place. Wasabi is part of the problem here, not part of the solution.

"Enforce"? How has WasabiWallet enforced anything? Or are we each using a different definition of enforce? Because if Wasabi/nopara73 didn't accept the trade-off to block outputs from "illegal transactions", the government would still enforce "their regulations".

Quote

There's some probability that it might be connected to your real identity, right? I believe for ordinary users, just avoid taking actions that would put him/her at risk.

And how do we know what actions "put someone at risk" considering Wasabi have not revealed which blockchain analysis company they are paying to spy on you or what their criteria are? It sounds very much like you are saying "Well, just make sure you have nothing to hide, and then you'll have nothing to worry about."

That's a good point, and also valid, but it doesn't mean my point is invalid. If tainted outputs are connected to your wallets, and your wallets connected to your real identity, then I suggest to improve your OPSEC.
2193  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are candlestick patterns overrated? on: August 29, 2022, 05:37:32 AM
Basically any technical indicator is overrated
~snip~

It's not, and I think the word "overrated" is the wrong word to use. Because like ANY skill, to make Technical Analysis very effective for the user, it will take thousands of hours of practice, and "the gift". Simply, there are some people who are going to be more skillful than others in Technical Analysis. The earlier you know if you don't have "the gift", better for you to start using another strategy, BUY the DIP and HODL.

Got to disagree with that, and overrated is exactly the right word to use here, furthermore technical analysis in my opinion is not just any other skill and won't necessarily make you a better trader or even make you better at using those technical indicators to get better outcome, they're just merely a tool for you to use to get better at predicting probability of what happens next with the chart you're using, and by better I mean maybe 10-20% more than a person without any knowledge about charting and how technical analysis works.

It's merely an opinion. The traders who have been making the profit enough to make them professionals would definitely laugh and disagree with using the word "overrated". It's probably correct to say it's "overrated" for the plebs like us who couldn't use Technical Analysis properly.

Quote

Now if someone really put some real time into some other skill like fixing car engines instead for instance they probably could increase their chance of fixing cars to over 90%, can you get even get close to 90% success rate in trading with TA?

I already said that it doesn't word for everyone because, it's a skill that requires thousands of hours of practice, and "the gift". Ask yourself, and be honest, if you have "the gift". If you don't have it, just BUY the DIP and HODL.
2194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are candlestick patterns overrated? on: August 27, 2022, 12:09:01 PM
Basically any technical indicator is overrated

Even RSI which is in my opinion one of the more reliable indicators flop at times, and that's even when you go into higher time frames like 1D/Weekly

The only thing these indicators can do whether it's the shape of the candle(Candlestick Pattern), RSI or trend line is that they can give you better entry for your buy or better exit for your sell and that's about it, and expecting them to give you some highly accurate insight would be unreasonable and usually ends up in disappointment and possible loss if you count n these indicators too much.

It's not, and I think the word "overrated" is the wrong word to use. Because like ANY skill, to make Technical Analysis very effective for the user, it will take thousands of hours of practice, and "the gift". 2195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are candlestick patterns overrated? on: August 27, 2022, 10:22:59 AM
OP, candle stick patterns, or any "predictive analysis" through drawing lines in a chart, also called "Technical Analysis", are not 100% to give you success in more active forms of trading, like swing trading/day trading. Technical Analysis is not a science, and most of it is merely a subjective analysis depending on the person. You can draw lines in the chart and you could be right, but another person can draw his/her lines too, which could also be right.
2196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KYC on Gambling Business on: August 27, 2022, 10:11:30 AM
I don't see the big deal of kyc? You trying to avoid taxes? Underage? Gambling for an illegal jurisdiction? IMO those are the users who would likely have an issue performing kyc for a casino.

This isn't bitcoin from 2009 where kyc wasn't a thing. This is 2022 and governments are imposing sanctions and rules all over the place. These rules trickle down to gambling platforms as well as license providers.

Maybe I'm afraid of my identity being leaked to scammers? Maybe I don't want someone to make fake accounts using my ID? Maybe I don't want people to know where I live and that I have bitcoins?
There's a lot of "maybes" here and I don't have to be trying to avoid taxes or underage to be against KYC.

You're repeating the typical explanation by abusive governments. If you have nothing to hide why be against us checking <insert a random property>?

You then shouldn't be gambling with a large amount of money that casinos are required to start asking you questions about your identity. But if you don't want to send your I.D. and other personal documents, don't gamble on centralized gambling services.

I believe a gambling service like DirectBet, but built on top of the Lightning Network will bring the value-proposition that Lightning needs to validate its existence. The users don't know what Lightning truly is yet.
2197  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: August 27, 2022, 08:49:38 AM
Everyone just has to remember that Bitcoin is a censorship-resistant, unseizable form of Money first before anything else. The market and the price will frustrate you, and it would make you sell all your Bitcoins to free you from the stressful life of "the HODL", but Bitcoin will always have value to those who need it, which many of you don't think that you currently need it. But you will need it, especially if you live in a country near China. Ready your passports, and memorize your seeds.
2198  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚡️⚡️Betplay.io - Lightning Network Casino - INSTANT & ZERO FEE Payments ⚡️⚡️ on: August 26, 2022, 10:25:59 AM

Hello Unsoldier,

Good day! Aside from the weekly Cashback and Daily Rakeback, Betplay.io Casino offers Bitcoin Lightning transactions. Make instant and virtually free deposits when using a Bitcoin Lightning wallet! Bitcoin Lightning is just regular Bitcoin currency but a new technology that allows for faster and cheaper transactions so that you can play Casino with no limits. Thank you.

-Betplay.io Support

Because Lightning Network deposits and withdrawals are one of BetPlay's main selling point, I believe it might be well-suited for the casino to offer "special bonuses" to encourage more users to make their deposits through Lightning. Bonuses can be recurring deposit bonuses every quarter, or extra free spins in addition to the deposit bonus.

Plus did the casino's UI get an upgrade? The pink colors in the website look more pink than they were during my last visit! Cool
2199  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: August 26, 2022, 08:57:22 AM
That's not the point, because it's all not about you, or what you believe, or all about the rest of the world.

So stop claiming that you gain protection. There's absolutely no guarantee that if you use Wasabi, you gain more protection as three-letter agencies are concerned.

There are no guarantees, yes, but it doesn't change the whole point that there are more risks that WasabiWallet is merely trying to avoid by accepting the trade off by having their coordinator block outputs used in "illegal transactions".

Quote

Let's assume they can, and will. What would happen to all of those outputs that went to a sanctioned mixer?

I guess these addresses are considered tainted from most spying companies out there. They can still be emptied normally, even though I don't cross my fingers the ingenious developer team won't fork the chain, and invalidate these balances. They've done it before, they can do it now; they're pro-censorship.

There's some probability that it might be connected to your real identity, right? I believe for ordinary users, just avoid taking actions that would put him/her at risk.

Quote

If you were nopara73, what decision would you make, that you believe, would be best for yourself, WasabiWallet, and its users?

How about not acting childishly and portraiting Wasabi's CoinJoin as the best privacy protection technique that's currently available, as a start? Furthermore, I wouldn't have reached to the position wherein I would have to choose between being a corrupted individual abandoning the project's principles or shut down the whole thing.

The moment I began working on such software, I'd have made sure I gain maximum privacy. Ultimately, I wouldn't working on it, because there are better alternatives, namely JoinMarket.

Shutting down the whole thing would have been the best decision for me, but nopara37 accepted the trade off. Either users want to accept the trade off too, or use the more decentralized JoinMarket.
2200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High inflation is causing GLOBAL protests on: August 25, 2022, 11:21:58 AM
Inflation will be difficult to avoid any country, the central bank that does not have strong control of the stock and circulation of money and goods will make inflation, especially the strongest economic country, the USA also experiences a surge of inflation so that it has a direct impact on the world, and for us the best is to continue to add Sources of income with extra work or investment.

Inflation really happens in every country. Even the richest country has inflation rate. What's not normal is the speed of increase of inflation as time passes by which makes it hard for normal people to get by. For an ordinary working class, sudden movement of inflation rate could greatly affect their budget.

If the inflation will continuously spike instead of toning down, the working class would be severely affected and what more those people who belong beyond the poverty line? The value of money will slowly depreciate because of high inflation rate. Hopefully, the government officials in charge will take good action regarding this matter so it won't go worse. Because if ever, those people protesting right now will grow massively to speak up.

Taking "good action" would require the Federal Reserve/Central Bank to rate hikes, and tightening the supply of the currency in circulation, which causes the economy to slow down. The choice then of the cabal would be to cause a recession to stop inflation, or leave inflation alone to advance into hyperinflation. What is your Central Bank doing?
