221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 06, 2015, 02:49:20 PM

What funny is when DRK stays low for months, none of this came out.
After the rise, there are always attempts to FUD. Whether is it true or not, these actions are always miserable.
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 06, 2015, 02:08:25 PM

holy shit. Tim Draper won't bid anymore. Time to dump the SHITCOIN  Grin

Ok, sorry about that, now i'm quit and delete that post.

Some of the other anons have quite interesting tech here and there.

The problem is, you guys come and promote your coins on this thread cos it gets a lot of traffic from people interested in this sector. You say "buy this new anon-coin cos it's got the best anon / bullet proof / fantastic new algo since sliced bread".

Then we put put a few BTC your way to hedge ourselves.

Then the coin tanks and we loose all out money.

That has happened with EVERY SINGLE ONE BAR NONE of the alternative anon-techs over the last year.

Look at Navajo - it's already nearly 25% off it's high from only mid February. Then on the 9th when you release your "new anon tech" it will tank again cos there's no new news after that.

Monero used to be a third of DRK's market cap. Then it was a fifth, now it's a seventh. Meanwhile, all the time there's spamming of how this or that tech is the new future etc etc.

The fact is that technical advances are no substitute for market trust. If Darkcoin f*cks up big time in some way then it's good to have some hedging in other areas, but absent that I only expect it's position to consolidate.

Navajo is not the pump & dump coin, we are at the healthy level from january till today. there was some corrections on the market, but there is no any p&d groups on the navajo market, only NAV community and investors are on the market.

Yeah I had a lot of NAV then lost patience and dumped all at 500 sat.
We have heard a lot of same posts with XCurrency, Cloak, etc here. Competitors come and promote their coins in this thread. Look at where it is now. Never said that no P&D groups on your market, they're everywhere. Good luck with your coin.

Is everything ok with enforcement?
I have just built a new masternode and it immediately received a payment of 2.60072 DRK (around 3 hours since the start)

No it's NOT OK. Send back the coin to the community  Grin

All right then,
let get this rolling !

225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the 'best' coin to mine with CPUs? on: March 03, 2015, 12:21:56 AM
i guess i could go both ways with this thread,

CPU mining is ok i guess. But it doesn't cost very much to grab one or two grid seeds.

i bought 2 of them around 65$ for both on ebay. (including the psu. most dont so they can be cheaper if you already have it)

You can buy higher end stuff like block erupter cubes and all the crazier stuff but i decided to start on a mini miner budget.

i use to cpu mine but my quad core got so hot being a laptop it was cheaper to buy asic scrypt miners and a fairly cheap hub.

just my thoughts. Correct me if you need too.. i'm fairly new to mining threw asic my first miner was a set of 5 block erupters haha

Good luck having fun with them. I'm sorry but you're late for the train. You could mine for fun now, but forget making money with this. The gold rush time is over.
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 03, 2015, 12:12:55 AM
when i see people talking about what they're going to spend their money on, and train pics, it is always, always the right time to sell

Sad but true +1.  Wink
227  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ***[BTC] [LTC] [DGC] [DRK] Cloud Mining***SKYCOINLAB.COM*** on: March 02, 2015, 07:55:33 PM
Could the owner explains more about the X11 contract ?
AFAIK X11 ASICs is not available, and you simply can't develop the model only for your mining business. Where did you get this?
And the price $0.99 per 100 Kh/s?? It's 2 years ROI, who would buy this ?

228  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ Cloudmining 101 (ponzi risk assessment) ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁ on: March 02, 2015, 09:19:00 AM
It is funny how as I remember everyone cried about GAW miners back in the day and a accused them of being the worst ponzi of them all.

And now when I returned back to check things out GAW are more legit than some of the 'best cloud mining' companies which are proved to be a ponzi all the way.

Back when you made 4 accounts to promote GAW and abuse their sig campaign?

If you are ranking ponzi's (though I think they are all bad), I would have to agree that GAW is one of the worst ponzi's.

Ponzis like LTCGear or Cryptodouble paid out huge returns over short periods of time compared to GAW which strung along people for months with shitty returns.

So unless getting teased for 5 months and ending up with only 5% of what you invested is your kind of thing, I'd have to say that accusation was dead accurate.

+1
Btw anyone knows the news about AMhash ? It's probably dead soon.

Tok, Nice read as always, thanks. I still don't have time to read all your post, but just want to correct something:
The total amount of VC flowed in BTC last few years excess 500mil already. It must be around 1bil in some estimation (check coindesk for the source, I will post it again if I found it).

LETS ASSUME A WORST CASE SCENARIO

50% of MN's are run by "bad actors" or have backdoors (thru VSP provider consent)

Question:Why did TOR get compromised??
Answer: NSA style traffic analysis

Just like TOR ur crypto (such as it is i.e. antiquated) is prob sound. But how do you combat NSA style traffic analysis for MN's?

Ignore me if you want…
but this is another important question complements of yous truly.

Answers on a postcard  Cool

I'll bite. Assuming there were 50% rogue nodes, each round would be an independent event, in this case 50/50 that a compromised node is selected processing the transaction. To be able to prove with reasonable doubt, you would need to have your rogue nodes selected every round, or 50%^# of rounds for probability. At 4 rounds, you're looking at a 6.25% chance of having your rogue nodes selected every round, at 8 rounds, 0.39%, at 16 rounds, .0015%. That's just as the system stands right now--with masternode blinding which is currently in development, no single node would have all the inputs so your probabilities essentially go to 0.

Good try.

Yeah I think he did try very hard, but his attempt discredits him even more.

Our only hope is now on the Winklevii brothers to deliver a solid alternative with the Gemini exchange. I really really really hope they don't fuck up, that would be terrible. If even the supposedly trusteable exchanges like theirs fail to be solid, then it's game over.

Well, that sounds really really pathetic.
Why would we be dependent on two twins.
If bitcoin was only dependent on them, it would be a *massive* failure already.

+1 true.

Bitcoin at $350

i am interested in mining as newbie and this thread is easy to understand.
mining at this point is not wise? or is it better to wait for later moment when price is higher.

What's so hard about buying bitcoin? The fact you don't have to beg someone for it back?

Watching it constantly tank - I guess.

Scams, scams everywhere. Wonder if Havelock will be back.

Maybe Bitcoin itself is one big ponzi. Would explain why itīs always in the tank and why those who were early in the game always are so eager to draw newbies into the cratering returns.

Yeah it's a ponzi which draws almost 1bil $ in VC and thousands of most brilliant minds on the planet are working on it right now.
If you solely watch the price as its success indicator, you're in the wrong field, mate.
BTC price is currently mostly decided by daytraders/market maker. Someone with 10-20mil $ in capital could move the market as they wish.

We're still big believers in Bitcoin, but we're doing some major refactoring and streamlining of our checkout process right now and Bitcoin is lower in priority since it's relatively low volume compared to our more traditional transaction options.

We will definitely keep in mind adding Bitcoin support back in the future.
