2481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: August 10, 2023, 10:57:42 PM
It’s too bad Andrew Wiggins isn’t on the Canadian team. They could use him.

I haven’t looked at the odds on this but you have to assume that the United States pulls out a win in the Finals right? From what I’ve been hearing about Kerr and his utilization of small ball to create matchup nightmares for the other teams it seems like they’re expecting the USA to be a lock.
2482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Adam Back's Bullish Bet on: August 10, 2023, 06:07:09 AM
I read about this earlier in the week. I assumed it was a joke because 1 million sats is $300 currently and if Bitcoin goes to $100000 then it will be $1000.

I think many here assumed it was more of like a $1M bet. So this doesn’t really show much confidence. It’s like betting $1 that Bitcoin will go to $1M next month. Either way was a fun thread to read and was very well engaged.

Ya, I’m sure everyone figured it was at least a 1 BTC bet. That’s why the whole situation reeks of cheap marketing. Imagine how much money he would make if BTC went to $100,000…  Things like this make me cringe. Bitcoin shouldn’t need fake promotion to be successful. This is the sort of thing you usually see at market tops.
2483  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Climate Activists are Silent on Polar Bears Because their Doom-Mongering Blew Up on: August 10, 2023, 01:22:10 AM
I don’t know about this one… I’m definitely of the belief that not having any ice to stand on is bad for polar bear populations. Even if they can survive, certainly they’re over exposed to predators like orcas and falling victim to exhaustion and drowning. Maybe I’m misinformed, but I think polar bears are likely to become extinct in the next 100 years.
2484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: August 10, 2023, 01:18:44 AM
I’m starting to have my doubts that Biden will even run again. It’s clear he can be nowhere near any sort of debate. I think everyone is well aware he isn’t mentally competent to be the President of the United States. Even if he wasn’t accepting bribes, I don’t think any sane person could feel good about voting for him. With a close eye on the next election, I don’t think he has a chance.

I thought we would be blasting passed $30K with all the news leaking that Bitcoin spot ETFs will be mass approved in the next 4-6 months. If you’re a believer or the ETF effect then you have to be thinking this is the beginning of the largest valuation increase in Bitcoin’s history. For some reason the market doesn’t feel as bullish as I’d expect.
2486  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I buy now or I should still wait for the dip? on: August 09, 2023, 11:30:07 PM
I think that if you don’t realize that this is the dip, you need to zoom your charts out a little more. Bitcoin rewards those with a long time preference. People would benefit to view Bitcoin as a 4-year cycle and focus less on making a few dollars off individual trades, but stacking BTC while it’s cheap and selling only during certain period that have been long predetermined.
2487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 09, 2023, 11:23:46 PM
Josh Hart scoring himself an $81,000,000 contract extension is pretty impressive considering I don’t even think of him as a starter. I guess he must have been playing well without me noticing last season for the Knicks to lock him up for so long. All of these contracts this offseason have me wondering when the next collective bargaining agreement will be.
2488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots fever on: August 09, 2023, 04:16:45 PM
The first time I tried slots in my life, I use 1Eur to make 240Euro, this was my most joyous day in gambling, it was so unexpected, I freaked out and freaking lost my mind, since then I started believing that gambling do have some surprises when you don't expect them.

The saddest Slots spinning day was when I use 300$ to spin for hours and had on 20$ left, that was where I finally decided to cash out, I felt bad for a week before I got over it, that was when I started having a gambling limit in mind.

Till today, I have had some losses and also some fine hits, what about you guys? Do you have any Slots spinning story to share? I'm sure some people are more lucky than many others.

My slots stories are all pretty much the same. I win some money, enjoy the experience, want to repeat, lose all the money I won. The rush generated from winning is meant to have you wanting to repeat it. This is why I always say gambling is about entertainment and not making money, because most people will lose all their money chasing that rush.
2489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 09, 2023, 04:14:22 PM
Interesting that Blackrock has come out and said that their Bitcoin spot ETF will be approved when and not if. Meaning that it is only a matter of time. Cathie Wood also came out and said that she expects her Bitcoin spot ETF to be delayed. So it seems that everyone is in agreement that the ETFs are coming. It’s just a matter of when the regulators want to open the floodgates.
2490  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 09, 2023, 08:36:00 AM
Feels a lot like I’m going to wake up to a $30,000 BTC again as we head back to the high end of the trading range. As the months roll on we’re getting closer and closer to the block reward halving. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a breakout to the upside in the coming month or two and expect that we end the year above $40,000.
2491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 09, 2023, 08:33:41 AM
Checking in for the season I could say that Lakers are not as bad as people think they are, they are just injured a lot. Now I know that's not the story of the season so far, but they are my wildcard for the ring and let me explain why.

They have Reaves that is getting better every season, Russel that is looking to take the PG spot and be good, Rui that is a great bench guy who defends very well, Vanderbilt as a great defensive guy as well, Lebron and AD is still there and being an all-star level amazing people, those names alone looks like they are actually pretty good team. I know that it sounds like they are not going to be all that great to some people, but I feel like they could actually be pretty good team for sure.

Right, that is why they are being named as a dark horse by some people and fans because even if the Los Angeles Lakers are not that actually strong mainly in the regular season but you can count on them to have a good run and adjustment during the playoffs run. Just like what they did recently, that revamped they got truly helped the whole roster.

Even Steve Kerr himself is praising Austin Reaves because he can see the improvement of the kid throughout the years and his potential that he will be an asset to the team. He might be one of those stars but he can do something on his own and the fact that he can learn fast means that he truly got a potential.

I’m a fan of Austin’s game but I think it might be a little early for him to be receiving the praise he’s getting. Playing with LeBron opens up a lot of opportunities and that has benefitted Reaves quite a bit. I think next year defenses will start paying attention to him, which would probably end up being a good thing for the Lakers.
2492  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 09, 2023, 08:31:08 AM
I’ve always sort of thought that if you didn’t want people to know you were doing something then it is probably best for you not to be doing that thing. Whether gambling, or anything else. A lot of people end up having regrets after doing things that they are ashamed of. I think your time would be better spent doing things that would make you proud.
2493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I lost my life savings trading Bitcoin Don't be like me. on: August 08, 2023, 02:33:50 PM
I don't know why am I am posting this here but I wanted someone to talk to. Since I can't talk about this to my family or friends because I am ashamed of myself. I am lazy piece of garbage who tried to make money the easy way, and get rich quick trading. I have failed my family and myself, I deserve everything that happened and will happen to me. It's time to take accountability for my actions. I think this will be my last message to the world, I am sorry

I’ve heard this story so many times. Even in bull markets. The sad part is most of the time all people had to do was just hold Bitcoin. I wish people would get in the habit of buying and holding BTC and if they want to gamble or trade, do it with your stocks and cash. Then maybe you’ll take less risks. BTC should be for stacking though. Make your wallet one way only, growing.

https://finbold.com/bitcoin-population-surges-with-record-numbers-of-holders-of-1-btc/

"The number of addresses holding at least one Bitcoin (BTC) has reached a new all-time high of 1,013,414"

I think after the next bull run only institutional investors will be able to hold a full Bitcoin. The price will be out of reach for most of the retail investors.

I think we’re already there for most people. I don’t have any friends who hold anywhere near 1 BTC. Most people don’t even have that amount saved for retirement or invested in equities. If another bull run does take us to six figures, you are probably right that the only holders left will be extremely wealthy individuals and investment funds.

Nice to see Conor McGregor posting training videos again. It seemed like he was a little quiet there for a minute. He seems to be back in the lab and preparing for his next fight now. I personally can’t wait to see him fight again as he was always the most entertaining MMA fighter. Hopefully he can get himself a win. It’s a long time coming now.
2496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: benefits of having mature accounts at 3 casinos (personal experience) on: August 08, 2023, 02:24:05 PM
The only reason I could think of why having multiple accounts might be beneficial is if the odds were different on different platforms. Maybe that would allow you to place bets on both sides with favorable odds so that you could be a winner regardless of the outcome of the event. Otherwise it would seem that splitting your bets on multiple platforms would take away from potential rewards.
2497  Other / Politics & Society / Canada censoring the internet? on: August 08, 2023, 02:19:07 PM
I have some Canadian friends that are telling me they are having news websites blocked when trying to browse the internet. They even sent me screenshots as I was in disbelief. It’s starting to make sense why Elon wanted Twitter so badly. I think memes are likely to be how news starts being shared in order to avoid government censorship. Anyone else experiencing the effects of Canada going full China on internet censorship?

He should offer that same bet to users here on the forum. I’d be in for a million satoshi’s.
2499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Adam Back's Bullish Bet on: August 07, 2023, 05:56:00 PM
I agree. A $300 bet for a CEO isn’t bullish at all. It’s almost a bearish signal to be honest. Seems more like throwing $300 out there to get some people talking and possibly buying to follow this bet by a CEO. It doesn’t make sense for him to make this bet anyway. If BTC triples he’ll make hundreds of millions of dollars. This bet is irrelevant.
2500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 07, 2023, 06:09:46 AM
Elon Musk is reportedly getting an MRI on his neck/upper back tomorrow and has been warned that he may require surgery on his spine. I wonder if this is due to training for a potential fight with Zuckerberg. After toying around and saying he was going to air the fight live on twitter, I have to wonder if he was really serious.
