2521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 17, 2023, 06:56:54 PM
I agree, Sixers are not "that" far away from being a championship contender, they just needed to focus on making the team better and they could keep Harden that way. The problem is that Sixers told Harden to get a pay cut so they could get better players to surround him and Embiid in order to win a title, he agreed and then they got nobody. This is why there is a trouble and with Harden gone then why would Embiid stay. I am guessing that Harden will want out because he has been lied to, but if Sixers could manage to get some great players, then Harden could be turned to be happy, might be too late though. This is not a good idea for either side, nobody will get anything out of this.

Who did they think they were going to be able to get? It seems like suddenly the mood in Philly changed with Harden and Embiid wanting out, but they never really said who they were wanting to pick up. I’m not even sure what player would fit with them or who was available that they were wanting. Maybe a trade for Bradley Beal or Chris Paul? Any ideas?
2522  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bigspins.net PvP crypto gambling on: August 17, 2023, 06:54:42 PM
I’ve always had my doubts about the fairness of PvP gambling games as there is seemingly no way to prove that everything is on the up and up. However, whoever solves the issue or builds enough trust with a good enough platform that it doesn’t matter will surely be the creator of the next big thing. I can’t wait until gambling finds its way to traditional video games. Only a matter of time.
2523  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad economic situation makes bitcoins more difficult to keep. on: August 17, 2023, 05:42:24 PM
This is a situation many will be faced with in the coming recession. It’s why the fed raises rates. They need to cause some financial pain to stop inflation and that’s going to hurt people’s ability to stack speculative investments. With loan defaults on the rise and excess savings from the pandemic expected to be exhausted this quarter, you can see turbulent times ahead.
2524  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the reason for the X on: August 17, 2023, 05:40:23 PM
The most simple reason for X existing is quite a dumb one, yet one that I believe to be true. Elon bought X.com a long time ago with an idea that this would be his site/app that everyone would use. That meant he was going to start branding things with X. SpaceX, Model X, etc. He’s taking this idea so far now that people are speculating he’s going to buy US Steel (a 5 billion dollar company) just to get their X ticker symbol.

‘Bored Apes’ investors sue Sotheby’s, Paris Hilton and others as NFT prices collapse
https://www.cnn.com/style/article/bored-apes-sothebys-lawsuit/index.html

I’m not sure what their basis for a lawsuit is. It seems like, “everyone said they would go up in value and I’d make money but I didn’t” is a bad argument for a lawsuit. Let’s be honest, nobody thought paying a quarter million dollars for a cartoon monkey picture was going to turn out well. People got FOMO though and jumped in, losing their money. Seems like a case of buyer beware.
2526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 17, 2023, 07:28:22 AM
The latest rumors out of Philadelphia seem to be that the Houston Rockets have been putting together trade offers for Joel Embiid.  It’s hard not to think that this has something to do with Harden. Maybe Embiid and Harden are both trying to force their way to Houston. With Embiid taking Philly out of his social media profiles, something is definitely happening.
2527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could Bitcoin potentially serve as a safe haven in the upcoming economic crisis on: August 17, 2023, 05:21:40 AM
Whether or not Bitcoin will be a safe haven during a major economic crash is the million dollar question for sure. It does appear to be breaking down in price along with the rest of the market, but it’s way too early to say definitively either way. One thing is certain though, at some point Bitcoin will be faced with a major recession and the market will have to choose up or down.
2528  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 16, 2023, 10:40:48 PM
Feels like the questions surrounding the global economy are starting to take effect on the Bitcoin price. Instead of shooting upward as a safe haven during coming turbulent times, we’re seeing it drifting lower as people are forced to sell to make ends meet. I’m still hoping we see the safe haven act and not the speculative investment pop when the time comes, but cracks are forming.
2529  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea's Kim Jong Un dismisses top general, calls for war preparations on: August 16, 2023, 10:38:52 PM
North Korea calling for war is how they request stimulus from the rest of the world. They flex their nukes and posture like they’re going to start a war, then China or the US sends them some foods and all is well again. As the global economy slows, you can expect North Korea to start making more noise until they get what they need.
2530  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 10 BTC Casascius up for auction on Stacks Bowers on: August 16, 2023, 10:35:26 PM
Very interesting and exciting to see this hit the auction block. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this sold for over $400K, as that’s what it would take to get one of mine currently. Hoping it’ll set off a bidding war that will surpass my expectations but you never know. Maybe people won’t want to scale the premium and we’ll see it sold for just over 10 BTC. Either way, I’m curious.
2531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal for mass adoption: the introduction of a new unit of account on: August 16, 2023, 10:31:06 PM
With the already high technical hurdles involved in normal people being able to use and understand Bitcoin, I’m not so sure it’s a great idea to be introducing more things unnecessarily. You have to remember that there are people out there who accidentally bought BCH thinking it was Bitcoin. More units of account seems like a bad idea for adoption.
2532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Big SEC Decision on Bitcoin ETFs: What's Your Price Prediction? on: August 16, 2023, 10:29:24 PM
In that case we shouldn't get over excited and expectant of a significant price increase on Bitcoin. That's quite sad. I'm just gonna subscribe to BTC flexible savings in the meantime.
it may have short impact but don't expect a high surge of price. how the media market it as a very positive development in crypto world, then, we may see a slight increase. but don't hope that it will increase a huge one that you will spend a lot or even loaned money to invest on this top currency.
as we have seen, with ETF or not, bitcoin can sustain its market. so we can't predict to what extent will SEC can influence this market about their decisions.
I agree that getting a loan would be one of the worst ideas ever, you should not get a loan to invest and in most cases that's not even allowed neither, you shouldn't do that. I agree that it is going to take a while for people to realize what we are doing, but as long as you believe that will happen then you are going to end up with a good profit for sure. Just use your own money and the next year will be going up, ETF or not, doesn't matter.

With halving coming up, ETF will not matter and the price of bitcoin will go up without a doubt. I get that some people are not looking at this as important deal, but if you are certain what's going to happen then we are going to end up with a good return one way or another for sure.

Getting a loan for a speculative investment is indeed a horrible idea. I can speak from experience as I once took out a loan in BTC and went terribly. I also think that almost everyone is saying that the ETF will propel Bitcoin to new heights, but before doing crazy financial things it is best to remember that markets are great at inflicting maximum pain and it feels to me like that will best be accomplished with a crash between now and the halving.
2533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 16, 2023, 09:37:41 PM
BTW, there is already confirmation that Elon Musk has won the real battle against Mark Zuckerberg. Check this:

https://www.ynetnews.com/business/article/ry2iwed32

There was so much hype related to Threads, immediately after its launch on 5th July 2023. So many people were predicting the demise of Twitter and claiming that Threads was going to replace it. But similar to so many other copycat ventures from Zuckerberg, this one also failed miserably. And this time, Threads flopped despite the entire left-wing establishment rallying in its support. I am sure that Elon will be boosted by his success in micro-blogging domain. A win in cage fight would be an added sweetener.

I do think that a little of the online trolling is due to Mark Zuckerberg seemingly trying to steal market share from Elon’s Twitter (X). Maybe he’s trying to send a message to other billionaires thinking about entering his space. Similar to threatening Apple with a Tesla phone or making fun of Bezos’ attempts at space flight. The man isn’t afraid to start a fight.
2534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 16, 2023, 03:25:15 PM
The NBA schedule is being released today if anyone was dying to get their favorite games circled on the calendar. I know I’m personally looking forward to Phoenix’s home opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, as it will be the first time LeBron James and Kevin Durant have faced off in several years. Will surely be a great game to watch for fans.

I don't see the schedule on the official NBA site yet because it says "no data available." Anyway, if I understand correctly, the Lakers and Suns will meet in the in-season tournament. By the way, guys, what do you think about this change in the upcoming season? Will the regular season be more interesting for players and fans because of this in-season tournament or not?

I read that the Suns would be playing the Lakers in the Phoenix home opener. The schedule should also have been published 2 hours ago, but I haven’t seen it yet either so who knows…

I’m curious about what’s going on in Philadelphia. Now Joel Embiid is scrubbing Philadelphia from his location on his social media profiles…

Now that is confusing because the article that I've found is saying differently.

Quote
Opening night

~ The champs will get their rings before a rematch of the 2023 Western Conference finals, in which Denver swept the Lakers and left James and Anthony Davis agreeing that the Nuggets were probably the best team they had played against in their four years together.

~ As well as being Chris Paul's first meeting with Phoenix since it traded him to Golden State, the Suns-Warriors game will be Durant's first at Chase Center with fans in attendance. The arena opened after Durant left Golden State, and he has been injured for all of his visits since, except for a game on Feb. 13, 2021, in which no tickets were sold because of pandemic restrictions.
Source

As what was said above, the season will start on October 24 and will be having two games in the opening night which are the Lakers @ Nuggets and Phoenix @ Warriors game. While the Phoenix vs Lakers game will happen on the following day, October 25.

These games are indeed interesting enough to see, including the night opener of Phoenix vs Warriors because CP3 now is with the latter and he will be facing his old team with the same roster, not him included of course.

What is the article you posted saying that is differently? I said that LeBron James and Kevin Durant would face off in Phoenix’s home opener, which appears to be the same information you posted. I think you confused me saying “home” opener with “season” opener. While the Suns’ first game of the year isn’t against the Lakers, their first home game is. Or am I misunderstanding something?
2535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling discussion effect on: August 16, 2023, 03:18:15 PM
I’m not a regular gambler before I start participating on gambling discussion here due to campaign requirements. Right now I have urge to gamble everytime I saw someone post here about discussion on profit or winning jackpot. Even a simple discussion about strategy makes me want to gamble because I’m excited to try the strategy that I’m thinking.

Right now, I’m still not frequently gambling because of my work but I do regular gambling once or twice a week even if I don’t do this before just because I’m always exposed to gambling discussion and the thought of it makes me want to try.

What’s the effect of gambling discussion here to you? I’m thinking to quit participating on signature campaign that involves gambling discussion in an event that my gambling activities is increasing above my normal habit.

This is a good conversation to think about. I myself rarely posted in the gambling section before being incentivized to do so and since then I have certainly gambled more frequently. While I don’t ever bet enough to truly matter to me, it is interesting to think that signature campaigns themselves could be making money by bringing in new participants by exposing them to the signature campaign and getting them comfortable with gambling.
2536  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Trump be indicted ? on: August 16, 2023, 06:30:00 AM
This Trump situation is honestly one of the most embarrassing moments in American history. If we’re truly going to go down this path where government agencies try to jail candidates that don’t agree with their views then we are no better than 3rd world countries. I’m scared for a future where nobody is safe from corrupt government actions.
2537  Economy / Speculation / Re: Low Interest Rates Impact Bitcoin's Next Halving Price Surge? on: August 16, 2023, 01:32:13 AM
Interest rates haven’t had a huge effect on Bitcoin in its lifetime mostly because the government hasn’t had to respond to a major issue with rate changes like we saw in 2007/2008. This may change however, as rate increases may push us into a major recession. If that does happen you will see demand for Bitcoin likely dry up and the price effected. However, if rates are aggressively lowered and we avoid a nasty recession it could be off to the races with cheap money.
2538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 16, 2023, 12:18:50 AM
I’m not sure I understand the point of the in-season tournament but I did just see a suggestion that the winner of the tournament get an automatic playoff berth. That’s interesting…

I’m more 76ers updates from Philadelphia, James Harden is now saying he’s open to play for a different team than just the Clippers. He wants out…
2539  Economy / Securities / Re: NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: August 15, 2023, 11:26:55 PM
1. Is all 30.000 seats taken?
2. Can I buy as many seats as I want?
3. And what happens if i mint my seat?

1. Yes. If you buy a seat on the auction, you are buying it from another member.
2. Yes. There is no limit to the number of seats a member can own as far as I’m aware.
3. The seat is transferred out from your account and onto the coin so it then receives its distributions (separately from your account) to the coin’s address.
2540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 15, 2023, 11:04:19 PM
Markets are getting hammered today after news of the Michael Burry bet have made the rounds. I can definitely see why as pretty much all charts are pointing to the mother of all recessions fast approaching. If we do see a 2008 style drop in valuations, I think we will point to this being the time we should’ve sold. How Bitcoin will react is still the big unknown.
