2521  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: August 23, 2023, 06:38:14 PM
With Tornado Cash founders now being charged officially with money laundering and violating sanctions, do people expect to see charges against Chipmixer founders next? Is this forum not concerned that there are still users here promoting mixing services, some of which are in the default trust network and giving exclusions to those who speak out about them promoting money laundering for their own profit?

Sorry if you feel this is the wrong thread for this discussion, most others remain locked. It is interesting that many users in this thread praised me for foretelling the Chipmixer shut down, but several DT members distrusted me for it. That’s called corruption in the real world. Here they call it decentralization. I call it lazy management.

I don’t know how serious the trade scenario of Karl Anthony Towns for Damian Lillard was, but apparently it was serious enough for Portland to comment that they don’t want KAT. I’m a little surprised by that, as I don’t think they’re going to be able to get a better player for Dame, but maybe they just want lots of draft picks or something.
2523  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 25BTC casascius 2011 on: August 23, 2023, 03:19:41 AM
Hi, thanks for you comment.
Where I live the bitcoin is illegal. Where I store it is legal (in bank in France)

I suggest any prospective buyer to only use a trusted escrow like Minerjones on a transaction of this amount. Too risky otherwise.
I don't understand the escrow system, can you explain me more about this system?

To less than 35BTC it's more interesting for me peeling it.

you are basically saying your idea of "interesting" cost 10 btc ($260,000)  26-27btc for that coin should be worth your time.but to each their own,  just my humble opinion

Honestly, I wouldn’t risk loss in the mail or any of the many other problems that could pop up while transferring ownership of this coin for a 10% gain, so I can understand the seller’s crazy asking price. That being said, nobody with 35 BTC would burn 10 BTC to own a coin made of cheap metal. We’re probably entering a period where buyers and sellers will drift far away in price until either enough coins get peeled that the premium rises, or sellers get old and want to cash out and move on with their lives.
2524  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 10 BTC Casascius up for auction on Stacks Bowers on: August 23, 2023, 03:14:59 AM
Disappointing to see the 10 BTC go for the loaded value. Probably not the best timing given the sentiment around BTC and the broader financial markets.
A long held, but controversial, opinion of mine is that we will see the high load value coins (like the Cas 25 or even 10) trade at less than face value at some point.  There are risks such as a private key being illegible over time, the hologram has been tampered with, etc which will be priced in as the USD value of the coins increase.
From the buyer's perspective, I get it. But from the seller's perspective, it doesn't make sense to sell under face value, unless he knows it's been tampered with. And in that case, it makes no sense at all for the buyer to buy it. Long term, I wouldn't be surprised if loaded collectibles can't be sold anymore. There's no reason for the buyer to trust it if the seller accepts less than the loaded value, and there's no reason for a honest owner to accept less than the loaded value.

I imagine most of these will just get peeled by the owners... no one wants to take a loss be it fiat or crypto

Well, someone recently done just that with x6 series 2 Cas 25s....in the same block!
https://casasciustracker.com/?sort=10&flt0_balance_equals=0&flt1_type_equals=S2-COIN-25&page_size=100&desc=1

Now seems like an odd time to peel those coins. Maybe someone passed away or there was a robbery. It makes little sense to hold for so long and then peel after a massive price drop. I doubt the owner was scared of BTC dropping further. What would get me to peel mine would be a massive bubble where I was afraid the price would drop before I could find a buyer.

What do you guys think about the news that the Dallas Mavericks will be releasing JaVale McGee? I’ve always thought JaVale was underrated and can’t really understand why teams like the Lakers and Warriors didn’t hold onto him when they saw success with him. Is this an opportunity for the Lakers to grab a quality backup at center for cheap?

Lonzo Ball released a video in response to Stephen A Smith saying he was having problems even sitting down because his knee was so bad. As you can see from the video, his knee seems to be in pretty decent shape. Seeing this has me believing that he will be back for the 2025 season. A lot of people with good knees probably can’t even do this.

Bears trying hard breaking $26k resistance, when successful expect a soulcrushing drop to $20k support.

I wouldn’t say bears are responsible. Binance is dumping BTC like crazy trying to keep their business afloat. It was clear after the FTX failure that this was coming. I warned about it months ago and told people to get their funds off Binance. I think this is the dip people need to buy, although waiting to see if Binance can stabilize BNB or go bankrupt might be the move.
2528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 22, 2023, 04:01:46 PM
Woj is reporting this morning that the NBA is fining James Harden $100,000 for his comments about Daryl Morey being a liar. The drama continues as the Sixers are moving forward with the understanding that James Harden will be on their team this year. I wonder if Harden will be a man of his word and sit out if that happens.
2529  Economy / Speculation / Re: what a surprise dip on: August 22, 2023, 02:40:47 AM
The rumor I keep seeing being repeated online is that Binance is trying to keep BNB above $210 to avoid liquidations on a large loan. So Binance is being forced to sell off their Bitcoin in order to purchase BNB and defend their loan’s collateral. No idea if that is true or not but it seems logical. After what happened to FTX, I’ve been waiting for Binance to go under. It seemed like they were playing the same game, Binance just moved earlier.

Looks like Binance isn’t going to give up without a fight. I just received notice their US subsidiary has changed their terms of service to raise fees in BNB as well as other moves that could be seen as a bit desperate. If you have funds on Binance right now, you’re playing with fire. We saw it with FTX, we saw it with Gemini Earn, and if you think Binance is immune then you don’t understand how their business works and the role BNB plays.
2530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I will pass KYC later is a bad idea on: August 21, 2023, 08:10:28 PM
Seems like good advice. Especially if you gamble a lot and expect to have winnings. If you don’t ever plan to KYC then you might find yourself in a stressful situation if you do win, quickly turning a great moment into a miserable experience.
2531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC Fight Night & Main Event: Sportsbet.io Predictions & discussion on: August 20, 2023, 10:39:12 PM
I’ve seen a lot of people online discussing why the UFC decided to make Sean O’Malley’s knockout public in a clip for everyone to use right after the fight. This is a bit of a departure from the norm and maybe a sign the sport is normalizing a bit. Perhaps the days of pay per views are nearing an end and a huge network broadcast deal is on the horizon.
2532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC Fight Night & Main Event: Sportsbet.io Predictions & discussion on: August 20, 2023, 07:13:23 AM
^ Nice! I’m glad I didn’t bet this fight because I didn’t think that Sean was going to pull out a win. He came through though in fantastic fashion with a crazy right counter. Impressive how much power he has for how skinny he is. I am a fan of O’Malley but I had my doubts as to whether he’d be a champion. Congrats to him.

Everyone must have experienced loss, whether it's a big or small loss. And he experienced loss more often than he won. Has anyone ever experienced boredom playing gambling because they have been losing more often than winning? If anyone has experienced this, what did you do?

I'm giving out a poll to find out what all of you did and which one all of you voted for the most. I choose the number one because if I can take a break from playing gambling, I feel that I can handle my emotion with good, which can save some money. I already tried to take a break for a while to calm myself down and that worked for me.

I think if you are gambling just to make money then you are very likely to be disappointed.  Gambling should be a form of entertainment that you enjoy and when you win it's a nice little cherry on top of your sundae.  If you aren't having fun gambling because you always lose, then maybe try gambling without money.  Many sites like Stake give you the ability to play the games without using real money.  That's a good thing to try if you aren't having fun because you're losing money.  However, if you don't even want to play the games unless money is involved, maybe gambling isn't the form of entertainment you should be partaking in.

NBA Central is reporting that Apple Computers may be in talks to purchase ESPN. This would give them rights to pretty much every sport and make AppleTV a sporting powerhouse. Given the ties between Apple and Disney, I’m surprised we don’t see Apple buy the entire company, but ESPN is a good start. Sports are about to takeover Apple products.

That would be the worst thing ever.  Watching baseball on appletv is the worst have you tried watching it yet?  I will watch significantly less sports if those does go through.  Not to mention having to be sucked up into their endless round of apple products which I'm not too fond of.  Ypu have me freaked out now lol.

I don't know if it will be good or bad, but it will be different for sports viewers. Apple devices are not liked by many, you will have to buy a device to watch sports. We shouldn't think of it only as America, there are millions of people watching these sports in many parts of the world.
I hope something good happens to everyone Smiley

I would think it’s good in many ways. Apple has more money than ESPN/Disney so I’m sure the service will improve. Apple also needs content and I’ve long thought they’d buy either Disney or Nintendo and with Nintendo executive laughing at Steve Jobs it seems clear a Disney acquisition would be good for them making this a good first step. AppleTV is also a lot cheaper than a cable subscription (that might change) so it’ll give more people an opportunity to see the games. Only downside is if you hate Apple or something. I couldn’t imagine anyone hating Apple more than Disney, but that’s just me (I don’t own Apple stock and as a developer dealing with them is a nightmare).

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting this morning that the NBA is launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding James Harden’s claim that Daryl Morey is a liar and got him to sign a contract under false pretenses. The drama takes another step forward. I’m not sure what the NBA can do though. Maybe nullify the contract?
2537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: August 19, 2023, 06:55:24 AM
~snip~
With the new Georgia indictment, it's looking like it will be an electoral disaster for Trump. Brian Kemp, Georgia Governor, is at a odds with Trump and Kemp won his reelection in 2022 by solid margins, and he beat a Trump backed Republican who tried to primary Kemp.

Having read the indictment, I'm doubtful there exist evidence that would convict Trump of the charges beyond any reasonable doubt (the standard for American criminal trials). Of course that doesn't matter. It's meant to interfere with the election, the radical Fulton county DA has made sure of this. The charges would be more appropriate on the federal level anyways.

Say Trump gets convicted in Georgia state court, he wouldn't even be able to pardon himself on the federal level for state charges if he were to win. The Georgia governor wouldn't be able to pardon him either. A panel in Georgia would have to decide that.

The US allows for a president to be elected from jail.

And that might be exactly what we might see in this coming election.

Reality is getting stranger by the year.

Also, the US is such a divided country at the moment, it could go either way.

While I don’t think that Trump will go to jail, I’ll admit I am fascinated by the possibility that a candidate for President could run and possibly be elected while serving time in jail. That would be a historic event and a sign of the times I guess. I think more then ever people want to see a President clean house and attempt to fight against the corrupt alphabet boys.

I was just reading about this story. I’m not sure if I believe it. I haven’t seen any evidence but I can’t say I’ve really looked. I’ve only seen people saying they suspect it might have been him. Other than the timing of it being possible, is there anything else that could tie him to this? Is this part of why his bail was revoked?
2539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 WNBA Discussion and Betting on: August 19, 2023, 04:20:26 AM
I’ve only placed one bet on WNBA games in my life but one thing I did notice when looking at available games was that the odds seemed to always favor one team heavily. That appears to still be the case. I guess the WNBA is a little more lopsided than the NBA? I didn’t get crazy and bet on the favorite in order to get my win.
2540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Nicehash KYC all of a sudden on: August 19, 2023, 04:16:59 AM
NiceHash offers lots of different services. It sounds like that’s where the confusion is coming from. As far as I’m aware, to mine alts and get paid out in BTC nothing has changed. No KYC is necessary. However, if you are using their services like buying/selling hashrate or buying/selling cryptocurrency, then KYC may be necessary.
