2581  Other / Politics & Society / Re: European parliament to ban certain plastic products on: October 26, 2018, 03:49:44 AM
This is definitely a good initiative. Plastic is much more dangerous to humans and nature than meet the eye. I just wonder what they're going to replace it with, some sort of recycled biodegradable material?

If it is this, this is probably a much more expensive material -- costing industry (within the EU of course) a good amount of money in forced regulation. Yet again, I'm not saying it's not the right thing to do as I haven't personally looked into it. It just must be noted that this is going to hit businesses pretty hard as it just pushes down the production line until it hits the consumers (and we know how people are about price increases, eh?)

Probably better alternatives than an all-out ban, at least in my view.
2582  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Explosive devices sent to Bill/Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, George Soros, CNN on: October 26, 2018, 03:48:07 AM
I just don't know how none of these bombs actually succeeded in killing their targets.

Rich people don't open their own mail, it's that simple

High profile people like Obama and the Clintons probably get hundreds if not thousands of letters every day... a lot of it will be hate mail and death threats... they don't open any of that themselves, who has the time?  They have plenty of money to hire someone to open their mail, read it, and tell them if anything is worth looking at.

Kings have always employed food tasters to check for poison in their dinner before eating.  This is no different

For god sake folks, this could have been done by the Russians to try to strike fear and divide in the country. It seems like they're succeeding. As you have the right calling this an inside job and you have Democrats (like flying hellfish) saying that the entire Republican party supports this.

We're better than this folks, come on. If this is them (or someone else trying to divide the country) they're doing a good job.

I'll admit the timing is suspicious.  It is an October Surprise.  Realistically it could be anyone... to quote myself from earlier, "Republican vs Democrat is a silly game that rich people play to keep us fighting against each other instead of fighting them"

I didn't even know there was a term for this sort of news, thanks for that by the way!.

But yes, I do fully understand the whole rich people don't open their mail thing. You would just think whoever was sending this, if they were ACTUALLY TRYING TO SUCCEED, would do their research into that and it would foil their plan in their head. This person is either incompetent/dumb, or this was planned to create chaos. Who knows which one though.

I didn't dismiss it, I said it was done for an ulterior motive, likely not even by their enemies. Also, as I said the conclusion they were actually explosive devices has not been stated by the FBI or ATF, only that they "appeared to be." As I explained the standard procedure is to blow the device in place, so chances are we will never know for sure. It could have simply been a box off unassembled components of a bomb, no one would ever be able to tell the difference after it is detonated with added explosives used to deactivate it.

When a bunch of Republicans got sent ricin a few weeks back you didn't see me here blaming Democrats over it. Also everyone knows now days these high profile people are like the 10th person to check out their mail. There was never any risk to any of them. This is exactly the kind of Hail Mary move they would make out of desperation. They constantly must fill the role of victim to sell their narrative. Also exactly the kind of movie script people who live in TV land would suck up and ask for more. In reality, things almost never have such a clear narrative.

Also all of these people are complicit in very serious federal crimes, and they know prosecution is on the way. What better way to elicit sympathy than looking like they are under physical attack as they literally call for incivility themselves, and support the mass invasion of our country. This was very carefully timed, it was not a coincidence.

Ask some simple questions like any investigator...

Who benefits from this?
Who has the ability and means to pull this off?
What does this accomplish?
What possible motivations could be behind this?
Why is the timing so close to midterm elections?
Who has traditionally occupied the rhetoric of victimization?
What could this serve to distract from?

Totally agree with this. I just don't know how none of these bombs actually succeeded in killing their targets. It seems like something that was so idiotic that it couldn't have been done by someone who ACTUALLY wanted to do the job.

I'm not going to say that this was done internally, nor was it done by Republicans.

For god sake folks, this could have been done by the Russians to try to strike fear and divide in the country. It seems like they're succeeding. As you have the right calling this an inside job and you have Democrats (like flying hellfish) saying that the entire Republican party supports this.

As the EU is pretty consumer friendly, they're going to most likely attempt to look out for consumers with a higher regard then what other countries that are attempting to promote the growth of businesses within their country.

So yeah, this sort of thing isn't surprising in the lease. Though I do think this is just going to push more and more people out of forming a corporation by making things more expensive to produce (through regulation)

I don't know if this is the right thing to do, and that commie hellfish always watches me so he will pop in and speak, though I will comment that this will hurt business growth in the EU (alongside their other pro-consumer policy)
2585  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you consider a painting "art" if it's made by an AI? on: October 24, 2018, 02:13:15 PM
I mean I think most art connoisseurs would disagree with me, though I do think that this is going to have to be art. As it is possible to have a robot / ai learn through seeing people painting and already established paintings. So in theory, a computer could LEARN how to create art like a human artist.

It's crazy to think about, but I do think these being sold are going to be sold for a lot less (disregarding the first few) then paintings that are from famous artists and such.
2586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will someone build a working useful blockchain that becomes usable .. on: October 23, 2018, 12:58:20 PM
Probably not, I mean there's little to no incentive to actually make a blockchain and a new coin that is actually usable. They have a much higher profit incentive, to not do anything rather than hiring actual programmers to work on your project. It's cheaper to just scam people rather then work, just like everything else.

2587  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What would education be like in a society where work was optional? on: October 22, 2018, 02:07:41 PM
As history shows us in during FDR’s WPA programs of during the American Great Depression, governments are tasked with ensuring their people have jobs.  If most jobs are allowed to become automated in countries like China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and even Turkey, then who will feed, clothe and house the masses?  Stephen Hawking said in 2016 that automation along with other factors put many populations at "the most dangerous moment in the development of humanity."  However, there are many bright spots.  According to an August 23 2018 Forbes article by Sameer Maskey,  AI can be leveraged by businesses and NGOs and governments in the areas of emergency response (earthquakes & typhoons), agriculture, medicine delivery, education, and, of course, jobs.

Then again, it is really good policy to let the government employ everyone? It seems like an expensive alternative to the free market -- which just messes with the market price on the wages of people (as government typically provides OK PAY, good benefits, stable job, etc)

I don't think Automation is as crazy of a sight as some people think it is. I do think some people will lose jobs, though the jobs will shift to other fields.
2588  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Talking about the death penalty in China. on: October 22, 2018, 01:33:14 PM
What a crazy country they have in China, you could be put to death for committing a crime and / OR you could be put to death for not commiting a crime (such as the gov not agreeing with what you're saying, though I do guess this could be a crime in the country of China)

People can say what they want about the US, but I'm VERY happy I live in this country and don't have to be subjected to the government of China. Most western nations are like us, and it's a wonderful thing.
2589  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are the repercussions of a device capable of uploading info to the brain? on: October 22, 2018, 01:28:35 PM
Some of you may think I am a loon for saying this, but it applies here. I am a fan of cutting edge technology and try to keep up on research and development and technical papers in related areas.

I can tell you for a fact, knowing only the technology known to exist to the public, that it is possible to turn anyone into a walking meat puppet. This includes recording all sensory data digitally, feeding false sensory data into the brain, manipulating physical movement, as well as many other more precise emotional and physiological manipulations all without physical contact (EM only). This would turn any one of you into a tinfoil hat wearer in a second if you really knew the full extent of it. Again consider for a moment, this is WHAT IS IN PUBLIC. What is in private and military circles is often 50-100 years more developed than anything in the public domain as a general rule to maintain operational advantage over opponents, either military or business.

Ah, it's always crazy to think about the fact that military (and of course business, as they're the ones developing this tech) have tech that is about 100 years ahead of us. Which practically means they have some of the craziest machines known to man.

But yeah, I mean honestly I do think that at a certain point it is better to shield me from what's going on -- I don't need to know about some of the stuff that the government is making and what their capabilities are. That would probably blow my mind -- I would probably not ever recover.

Dude read the 38 page indictment of the GRU national that had a 35 million USD budget to attack the left.  The attack is completely targeted at getting the right pissed off at the left.  If you think a dictator paying for propaganda is spending it on a fair attack on both sides you're crazy bro, they have a real interest in having as hard right a leader as possible as POTUS.

But you're 100% right it is working and has been since at least 2016!

I'm not saying it's being done equally, I'm saying that the goal is to create chaos -- not to support one candidate or another.

I'll give you at least this one, https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-much-did-russian-interference-affect-the-2016-election/

It's hard to measure if anything.

LOL well lets look at debt per capita where Canada is marginally better, lets look at your deficit ballooning after the Trump tax cuts for the 1%.  Now more importantly lets look at what I get for my debt as opposed to what you get lol.  I mean according to your polls the biggest thing on voters minds is health care.  I get UHC for my debt, I get safe communities with very little gun violence.  I get a country that doesn't have to deal with the mass murder of children at their schools.  I get legal weed and I get NO TRUMP hehe!

But that's not what should be compared, what you should be comparing is a debt to GDP as that's the best indicator of if the debt is actually sustainable.

And with the current economic growth, even with more deficit spending -- it seems as if it's sustainable.

I personally don't think it's possible to replicate the Canadian healthcare system in the US, as we live in a greatly different society. We have stark differences in poverty, employment, demographics, population, and so on and so forth.

Very little gun violence doesn't mean anything -- low crime rates do. Plus you're going to have to understand the vast differences from the US and Canada -- as the things I said before. I'm currently looking into this right now.

Legal weed is a fair one, I do think that the US fed government should step out of the way (and have no policy on weed) and allow the states to do as they please on weed.
2593  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kremlinbots on: October 21, 2018, 10:20:16 PM
I don't think that these kremlin bots are rooting for any particular side, it seems as if they're just trying to make the American electorate divided over so many issues -- and if we're looking at the US right now we see that they're without a doubt succeeding in at least that quest. Politics has NEVER been such a polarizing issue, people will literally stop talking to one another (family, close friends, etc) if you don't align with their political views.

It's a crazy world out there, the Russians are succeeding.

Seems like the FBI isn't getting a new building after all???

I wonder why Trump ordered the GSA to stop the development deal that would have the FBI move from a dilapidated building into a desperately needed modern, bigger and most importantly not falling apart lol new building.

It appears the government had a deal with a developer to build them a new FBI facility in the suburbs.  In exchange for the development of the new property the developer would receive the lease rights to the property the current building sits on.  The developer was planning on building a luxury hotel on the site!!!

For some odd reason Trump ordered the GSA to kill the deal which will flush millions of government dollars already spent on the project down the drain.  As a result of not using the equity in the existing property and the building literally falling apart it is estimated that it will cost the US tax payers about $100 million more to renovate the existing building than it would to go get a new building with the deal.

Hey Squatz can you tell me why having a luxury hotel on the location of the current FBI building might have a personal negative economic impact on the most famous self admitted pussy grabber in America?

Enjoy your trillion dollar deficit home boy, I know Canada is!!

Here trilly trilly trilly.

Trump is draining the swap, right into his pockets!

Debt to GDP is everything! http://www.usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html

Canada is actually worse when you compare GDP ton debt, which should always be done.

I have to read up on the FBI story, didn't know about this!
2595  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What would education be like in a society where work was optional? on: October 21, 2018, 10:00:52 PM
I mean it'd probably be the same as it is now, as education doesn't teach you jack shit about the working world -- so yeah. I'm not seeing any drastic changes (minus the removal of business fields, such as BUSINESS in general)

But I can't see this being a real thing, as theres no way a functioning society has NO ONE WORKING in the least.

Though yet again, I do guess that work is really optional -- but you just won't get to live as nicely as the ones who to live and thrive.
2596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: FBI agent’s text to lover: ‘We’ll stop’ Trump from becoming president on: October 21, 2018, 09:46:23 PM
Damned agent not doing his job;

He should have acted, considering there was credible intelligence that says Trump colluded with a foreign hostile nation, which accounts to treason.

Last I checked, treason is a federal crime which requires the FBI to investigate and prosecute.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump%E2%80%93Russia_dossier#Allegations
The whole collusion issue with Trump and the Russians are just made up by the FBI and their Liberal friends so that they discredit the Trump presidency, they are just wasting tax payers money on something that’s really not there.

So, the Russian indictments didn't happen? Trump's campaign manager and aids pointing their fingers directly at Trump.

They've actually seized more criminal's assets than what the investigation has spent, so they're actually generating income for the average citizen Wink

All of the indictments and such that have been 'related to top trump campaign officials' have NOTHING to do with the campaign. It's people getting in trouble for stuff that was BEFORE the campaign -- but Mueller is trying to pressure them into telling them what he knows about the Russia stuff with these indictments. -- Which I don't know if there is anything.

I would think that after longer then a year we would see some stuff come out of the Russia probe -- but I guess not.

That’s the problem and I blame the government as well, if a priest commits such a crime or sexual abuse, He is under the law and the law should deal with the Priest and not the Catholic Church. The Church only has jurisdiction in the Vatican and not the rest of the world.

The problem with the Church is that they usually attempt to deal with these sorts of events internally, as they will typically settle with people (civilly) for a good deal of money to simply hush up. People don't seem to understand that this hush money really doesn't hold up against criminal charges -- or people take too long to even report these acts.

Plus, it's a VERY VERY VERY VERY tough thing to prove -- be it a month after the incident, or about 30 years after the incident. Unless there's some sort of genital fluids left that could be recovered -- and shown to be forceful -- then we're in a situation where it's a person vs person on who's lying and who's not, and that isn't something that Attorney Generals / District Attorneys, want to try to fight (and most likely lose) in court.

If you can't argue against the facts, attack the source. Maybe no one will notice the facts.

This is a perfect quote, I'm going to be using it for my own stuff from here on out.

Thanks for this!
2599  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are the repercussions of a device capable of uploading info to the brain? on: October 21, 2018, 03:13:45 AM
Well, this sort of thing is not going to come without repercussions in the least. You're going to see a push (when this sort of tech is mainstream, as you'd probably see uploading to the brain and downloading FROM the brain) from major tech companies (and other businesses) to advertise in peoples brains. As this is going to be the final area where people aren't monetized in the least, and this is going to be a crazy thing to see -- as no one is going to like this (as they don't like the current ads at all)

There's also going to be an onslaught of regulations relating to what's going to be allowed, and what's not going to be allowed in regard to playing with the human brain -- as humans don't typically like that sort of thing being used for profit from companies.

This is going to be a crazy world in around 50-75 years -- can't wait to see it.
2600  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Russian President "Putin" talking about world war 3 ?? on: October 21, 2018, 01:22:32 AM
I don't really understand the need for you to put "Putin" in quotes but in any case. People do have to understand that the only way Putin is going to be able to make his people happy is by making them feel like Putin is this strong leader who's able to bully the countries around him (and other powers) into listening and caving to him. Crimea had nothing about the land, it was about gaining the support of the Russian people through winning something EASILY.

He's someone that is just trying to make his people happy, and while he's without a doubt misguided in the way he's going about it, it does look as if it's working (if the polls that they release aren't coerced, of course)
