261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Challenging Privacy in Bitcoin! on: November 16, 2023, 02:07:49 PM
It's not bothering me since if we care about our identity, if it's going to be leaked, the number one source would be the government, since they all have our data.

There's no need to be alarm unless you're transferring a laundered money, or anything illegal. Also, there's a lot of transactions happening in the Blockchain and I doubt not every single of them will be monitored by a hacker or someone who wants to stole our identity. You can't even tell who's the owner of a certain wallet address unless you accidentally connected some personal information of yours somewhere in the internet.
262  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: November 16, 2023, 01:18:37 PM
Even though those brands have their own choices where to take side, this war doesn't make any sense at all.

I mean, both sides has their own reasons why they are fighting for their land, who the true owner really is, but this could be resolve in a way where no innocent lives are being taken. We just love to show how superior we are in a certain country, no matter what kind of countermeasures it is, continues bombing, killing people until they surrender, and conquer their land to widen up the kingdom.

I wouldn't doubt if one day human will be extinct, and mother earth would be left destroyed by exchanging nuclear bombs just to show who's the boss, what a pathetic society we live in.
263  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it difficult for people to get capital easily? on: November 16, 2023, 12:01:03 PM
I've got toxic relatives as well but I don't mind them, I don't care about their opinion, etc.

OP, for you to get your capital easily, don't mind other's people opinion about what you should do instead with your salary. You don't have any responsibility to give money or support your siblings if your parents are still alive and capable of working, you can't be their retirement fund, and don't allow yourself to be one, because it's just gonna drain you.

Start saving for yourself only, help them if you really want if you have plenty of money because you got the capital you need to generate money.
264  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 16, 2023, 09:14:40 AM
I often read people saying they want to earn enough money so they don't have to look at price tag of product. Imo, even if you are rich you wouldn't want to spend money on things that are not worthy of price being paid.

You wanna look at product and then it's price, if it's worthy of price, you purchase the product.

It depends, I guess.

Lot of rich people don't bother about the pricetag because they can afford it even though they just want it. They don't care about a certain thing, if they want it, they'll buy it, simple as that. They have that kind of mindset since they have plenty of money to the point where they don't know where to spend it anymore. Pricetags at supermarket or in any luxury shop is just a normal thing to them, they don't even bother looking at it.

But there are few rich people who don't really like to spend their money on random things, they like investments and businesses, so they can have more money to spend on things they wanted to have in the future.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ? on: November 15, 2023, 02:35:01 PM
It will be hard to gauge what is the percentage of btc investors that are also gambling on the side. You should have put a poll so that we can see a rough estimate of those people. But of course, that alone isn't enough to see the overall picture since some prefer privacy more than sharing to other people.

But if I will just estimate the population based on my gut feel and point of view about these investors, I guess there will be less than 15% of them in totality. This is because in my perspective, they would rather focus their mind and allocate their money in investing in bitcoin rather than spending it for an unguaranteed profit.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: November 15, 2023, 12:18:10 PM

Are these underaged children really victims of gambling, or they are victims of hostage of financial situation in their family or surrounding? Kids get lured by gambling as they only see easy and quick money there. If they would see quick and easy money in jobs, or drug dealing (worst scenario), then they wont gamble. I am 99% sure, that these underaged gambling kids are from poor familiar mostly. And I had to admin, that I have never saw a kid from rich parents gamble and being crazy about it. So imho that is all because of money, not because they saw someone play entertaining games with cards, chips or slots.

You have a point here. Although there are also underage people that are addicted in gambling not because of the money it offers, but because of the entertainment and satisfaction it brings to them.

I know few young people that are really spending a lot of money in gambling because they can afford to do so. It became a habit for them to continuously spend and bet which made them obsessed in playing and winning as a bonus. Although admittedly, I also know some youngsters who are in great financial debt that are also gambling. Perhaps this is their way to sustain their daily needs since in gambling they can earn even just a little amount every time they play. It's just saddening though that some people resort to gambling as their bread and butter because there are no enough opportunities for them given that they are poor and they have little resources and having little to no background education to start with.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gambling and Invest in gambling. on: November 15, 2023, 11:35:56 AM
Oh boy, this is a terrible idea. I know you want to profit and you want to make your business related to gambling. But please refrain from doing this investment concept because it will just break so many newbies and addicts.

You will be like a loan shark based on your statement and honestly, those people are the worst. They take advantage of the weakness of other people. They are not really trying to help, rather they are even luring you to your downfall. And that specific trait of greediness is all over your post. It's a shame if you will not think of other people's welfare and just nonchalantly put up a business where you can earn, because how about them? Instead of extending a hand to keep them away from excessive gambling, you are paving more ways for them to do so.

If you got no conscience, then do it. But if there's still humanity left in you, think many times about it and hopefully do not push through. It will just damage them financially and mentally speaking.
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: November 14, 2023, 02:17:05 PM
It's saddening that it happened to them. Having a strong bond to other people whom you aren't related by blood should be a big deal and should be cherished especially if they had been with you during the highs and the lows. It's just so cheap that he had to distance himself just because he won a huge amount of money. The saying that has always been told to me is really true, money matters really reveal what kind of people you are being surrounded with.

I guess they can tell and just consider it as a blessing in disguise to distinguish as early as that time that he is not really a true friend that will be with them whatever happens. Because if he is indeed true, he would have celebrated with his friends. Winning is a good news, and sharing and celebrating that with them who has your back althroughout is a great thing to do to show your gratitude. Unfortunately, their friend turns out to be fake and only wants to be in during the times he can benefit from them.
269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 14, 2023, 01:04:22 PM

Control would really be that crucial or something that you must really be that thinking up before you do gamble. It would really be that impossible that you wont really be able to notice if there's something wrong on what you are doing specially on the time or moment that you are already spending up that much with gambling. You wont really be making or putting up yourself on such trouble if you are really just that mindful in regarding about your actions. There are really just those individuals who doesnt really care about the consequences that they could really be able to dealt up with until it would happen.Regrets do always happen in the end and this is something that you should really be realizing. Earning money nowadays is never been that easy so it is really just that
right that you should really be that careful on what are the things that you are spending.

I agree with this.

It's really important to take self-control and discipline into consideration before entering the gambling industry. It's very much needed to have self-reflection and assessment first before everything else so that you can gauge whether you are fit into the industry or not. After all, there's a high need for responsible players in the industry to enlighten other players about good gambling habits and things such as the don'ts which could help them navigate the gambling world, especially if they're still newbies.
270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 14, 2023, 11:46:28 AM
Your parents are very rich and they have made a will while they are still alive Your parent is disinheriting you on the ground on one of the laws in our country about disinheritance that
Quote
When a child or descendant leads a dishonorable or disgraceful life;
because of gambling but they have not proven that you are a chronic gambler and you think you are a responsible gambler.

Do you have a case here on the ground that it is not proven that you are a chronic gambler and have not lost a fortune in gambling, can you appeal this case in court to make the will invalid and get your part in the inheritance?

Here in our country, you cannot disinherit your heirs as long as the heir does not violate what's stated in the law about inheritance and they just used the quoted message as their ground.

What's your take on this and what do your country's laws say about this?

If you aren't really a chronic gambler and is a responsible one based on what you claim, you have to prove it in a legal manner. Maybe appealing to the court to pushed aside the last will of disinheriting you might be a good move. I'm not very familiar in terms of the legalities involving the law. But perhaps you can counter it as long as you can prove that you are very much sober and clean, far from being addicted like what your parents claimed you to be.

Although it appears very strange to me that you were labeled as a chronic addict when they have no proof. Probably one way or another, you displayed an attitude or behavior that made your parents think twice of leaving inheritance since it's really such a waste if their hard earned assets will just be used into funding bad gambling habits.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: November 14, 2023, 11:13:12 AM

Trading is very similar to gambling, I agree with you on that. Especially if we compare trading with sports betting. That's why trading too shouldn't be a major income for some people. I personally know a guy whose "job" is to trade crypto currencies. Luckily for him his wife is very wealthy, and it's nothing for then that he loses several thousand USD each year with his "job". If you ask me, this guy would better be trading for fun. Smiley

Trading and gambling indeed share some similarities. The most similar one I suppose is taking the risk using your skills and knowledge to have the upper hand in winning and profiting. Both have their mix of luck as well. You should be updated from the current market trends in trading and in gambling, you should be updated about the current information that will be relevant to making your bets. Although gambling is really meant to be for fun, and trading can be perceived as such as well, but it's more on money making side. Only of course if you are skilled enough to make successful trades in crypto each day.

I've known some people who made trading as their full time job as well as gambling as their main source of income. But for me, it's still much better to have a more stable one. So that when things no longer work like they used to, you'll have a back up plan to pick you up.
272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 13, 2023, 02:47:11 PM
During the weekend I was listening to an evening programme from one our the local radio stations they were discussing about gambling, the effects and how to manage it if you might be struggling with  addiction. And they had listeners calling in to share personal experiences or of a loved one that gambles and amidst many callers there was this very caller story that caught my interest and curiosity.

She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles. So what he family did was to print a photograph of him and giving it to all the gambling shops within their neighborhood and around the locality, threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.

Now, while I was quietly listening to the story in my head I began to ask myself several possible  questions and one of such questions was; is it not possible that this young man can take a cab away from their location and move to a far area to carry out his gambling since his a compulsive gambler.

Just two questions here:
1. Dis the family of this young man went too extreme in trying to help stop their brother from gambling addiction or not?

2. Assuming you are this young man and you had to run to a distant location to carry out your gambling as you are allowed to gambling within your neighborhood and luckily you won huge sum of million dollars. Would you share that money with your loved ones who were barring you from gambling or you will just stay off from them and live new found wealthy live alone?

Share your thoughts!

I know that's their way of helping their loved one that's been addicted in gambling, and I'm happy that they were trying and doing whatever they can to help him. However, for me it isn't really a form of help that is for the long-term. Eventually, the gambling addict will find his way to continue gambling and to sell things that he can so that he can sustain his lifestyle.

An addict will find his way eventually to continue betting and playing without them even noticing at first. They are very creative and very secretive, so it will be a hard one if their brother decides to move to other places. With this, they can't put any restrictions anymore. While it could help on the first few weeks to keep him off casino establishments, it won't last for long. Threatening the casinos for suing isn't really applicable and legal if I'm correct since a person who's an addict is still capable of thinking and should be given his human rights. And that includes deciding on his own. Unless he is a minor or a mentally unstable person, then guardianship can be applicable.

1. It's inappropriate, for me at least. This is because as a grown up man you can make your own decisions, including whether continue or stop gambling. If they really want to help, funding the rehabilitation and treatment might do more help than giving flyers and threatening casino establishments. Afterall, addiction should be cured from the roots, not just eliminating the external factors. Although it could help, it will only be temporary.

2. It will depend on the person if he will share his winnings or not. It's his right after all on what to do with the money. Other people cannot impose not control. Unless of course you are indebted to them since you have to pay your dues.
273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: November 13, 2023, 01:10:18 PM
Gambling sometimes appeals to people who don't have enough money because it presents a chance to change their financial status like me. I'm hoping for potentially solving immediate financial issues or providing a sense of escape from my current circumstances.

Despite the risks involved the possibility of hitting a jackpot or winning enough to address financial struggles can be a strong motivator. It's a way for some to dream of a better future even if the odds are not in their favor.

There's nothing bad if we are making money through gambling, what we should also have in mind is the acknowledgement of times that we may not be able to have this same experience over time, we know that gambling is full of risk, we cannot also dispute the fact that so many people were already loosing or making out their money through gambling despite knowing that it's not a means of making money, but when we realized such opportunity in it to make money, we shouldn't hesitate to grab such because we are the same person who had always been gambling with the money we have.

Agree with this.

It's not really bad to profit out of gambling bets and plays, although just make sure that you are aware of its risks and the consequences it comes along with. It's not an easy task to earn money from gambling. You must have knowledge, skills, and tons of luck to win. So if you have those, make sure to equip it with discipline and have sense of responsibility of your actions. That way, you won't run out of money and be dependent on it.

It's easy to make a bet and play in gambling. It's easy to lose too. Just make a haste decision without thinking the possible outcome is the best recipe for catastrophe. And those can be easily done especially if you don't want to think critically. But if you want to win, you have to be determined alongside with aforementioned qualities. And it wouldn't be an easy task, so take it as a challenge, but with a grain of salt.
274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: November 13, 2023, 11:55:38 AM
-snip-

As long as everything is according to the plan the chance of getting addicted is by far, I mean like what you mentioned if you set limits and you are not exceeding or you are okay when you already lose it all and stop, but if in anyhow you add more money and you keep playing the chance of losing a lot and engaging a lot will take place, it's open the door for more gambling sessions without any planning.

From that point of view, getting addicted due to irresponsible way of gambling is possible to take place.
Yes, as long as all the planned rules can be implemented in a consistent manner, it will definitely be fine, but in fact it is very difficult to adhere to these commitments, even some people or myself still make mistakes ignoring the plans that I have previously arranged and it is normal if this happens, the most important thing is that I still I have the effort to try to gamble responsibly without having to get closer to addiction because to be honest, I'm still a little afraid of experiencing addiction.
So, whatever efforts are suggested by other people, I always listen to them, appreciate them and also try them, even though sometimes they don't meet my expectations, there's definitely no harm in trying.
As you and I said knowing when to stop betting is what I always try to avoid bad impacts when gambling and maybe other gamblers can understand this.

It will really be challenging to adhere and stick to your limitations because the temptations are real. It will be hard to be consistent at first, but good habits are built over time anyways. It's okay to fall short at some circumstances, what matters is that you are aware of your shortcomings, and you are more than willing to think of ways on how to overcome it and to do better next time. That way, you'll build a good habit of not breaking your boundaries and only spends time and money that you allocated for gambling initially, not going overboard.

I guess most gamblers struggle into this area as much as anyone else. The only difference is the discipline - whether they would be swayed or keep their stance. Putting pressure to yourself won't help as much as overthinking winning. So just enjoy the game, be sport about it, and focus on your progress not on others. Because the time you compare, you will steal your own joy and you might even be pushed into betting more than you are capable of.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: November 13, 2023, 10:48:51 AM

Can we learn from our losses without wanton recovery? Learning from the past and being grounded by it are delicate. A solution? Consider gambling enjoyment, not a goal. When fun ends, stop. This method can make gambling fun and safe.
That's what we should do to learn from the losses we experience without having to try to recover those losses, after all, if we follow our emotions and continue to try to recover our losses, it's the same as making the game not good, we will still experience consecutive losses and go bankrupt. just because following emotions wants to recover the losses that have been so much.

Personally, I usually change my playing style, namely by limiting the budget. If we can do that consistently with the budget that has been provided, we will definitely not have to try to recover losses as long as we make gambling just for entertainment and use the money we have. We are ready to lose money or unused money. If we want to gamble safely, I think we can start limiting everything, be it budget or time, so we don't gamble excessively.

It's not necessary to recover the losses in gambling just to get over it and be done totally. Because the more you chase your losses thinking you could get even and bring back the fund that you have spent, the more you will fall and be engulfed by getting addicted into it. And that's not really a healthy way to play. I agree to fixate your mind to your initial goal. If you just want to have fun, by all means do it. But the moment you no longer feel the fun and it becomes intoxicating or stressful, you should do your part of exiting already. It's not as if gambling can adjust for you. You have to set limits yourself.
276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: November 11, 2023, 04:31:51 PM

Gamblers who are addicted to gambling, if they win at gambling, they want to continue gambling because then they think that they will always win and become rich in gambling and if they lose, they continue to gamble and they think that they will win later and recover the loss. And will be more profitable. People who are addicted to gambling cannot convince themselves how dangerous gambling is.  They think that gambling is a very easy way to earn money and hence they can't stop gambling and don't want to take anyone else's advice too

It's inherent to those addicted gamblers to try their luck continuously despite having no actual results. It's hard for them to keep their hands to themselves because they have a very strong urge to bet, play, and gamble more. So it's really challenging for them to do nothing. That's why you'll see a lot of gambling addicts who keep on playing despite having no money left or despite continuous losses.

Oh well, whether they win or lose, they'll just crave for more. There's no sense of contentment to those who are addicted. Which is why it's really important to prevent yourself from turning into one so you won't suffer the consequences later on.
277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What according to you should be the age to retire from gambling ? on: November 11, 2023, 02:23:20 PM

I don't think there should be an age for people to retire from gambling. As long as someone enjoys gambling and is able to afford it he should do it. Gambling is a form of entertainment and we can't really exclude people from it. It's not like we can say people should retire from visiting the movies, or going out to a bar. This is a choice everybody needs to make for himsellf and as long as there is no problems in our everyday life I don't see any issue. Older people even have more free time than younger people and still a fixed monthly income from their retirement fund that they can rely upon. The most important thing is that there is no negative effect on your life, for example gambling away any large savings. Once you retired there won't be any chance to find a job again and make a lot of money again. So, all the money you might want to leave behind for your childrend and grand children should be kept safe and not be used for gambling. Other than that I don't see any issue for elderly people to still enjoy gambling from time to time. My grandfather used to play lottery into his 80s and my grandmother still enjoys playing scratch cards in her 90s. Nothing wrong with some excitement in life.

Agree. The ability to decide and make their own judgement shouldn't be taken away from them. Gambling knows no age, except of course if you are underage. As long as you can afford to make a bet and play, you can do so. There's no age limit in gambling. If you want to play on your retirement age, it's fine. Just make sure though that you are financially secured so you won't be a burden to other people. That way, you can still sustain yourself and your gambling habits. It's not bad to have gambling as a form of entertainment once you go old. However, as much as possible while you are still young, you should save for your future.

Safeguard your retirement fund, your home, and your well-being so you won't have to experience awful life for making poor decisions. Saving now while having fun is the best approach. We can always enjoy the present without sabotaging our future.
278  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to read the screenshots traders post. An example. on: November 11, 2023, 12:56:46 PM
There's nothing important about that screenshot that can help you in your trading journey, to be honest, he's just flexing his successful entry on that certain coin. But based on that screenshot, he knows what he's doing, because of his leverage and margin. You can also figure out that he has a big funds so using a low leverage to play it safe using cross margin is still profitable unlike when you only have a very small funds.

Instead of wanting to know how to read that screenshot, it would be better if you're going to study about how to read the price chart for your technical analysis, which is more worthy to be learn, in my opinion.
279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: November 10, 2023, 02:38:14 PM
   -   Maybe those kinds of gamblers have a permanent itinerary, and the weekend is really reserved for them to play gambling in a casino. And I don't see anything wrong with his task activity. I also rarely see a gambler who has such a habit every weekend.

Maybe the weekdays are reserved for him for personal work, so it's like that, so his work won't be affected, and if what I'm thinking is right, he's doing a good job then. And I hope all gamblers are like him when he really is like that.
I think it's hard to only gamble in weekend because we're free and we can do anything that we want. As long as our working friends or boss is allow us to gamble, most of people will being transparent and gamble at work.

Gambling is one of many ways about entertainment, similar like people who're playing game at work.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with playing gambling at work or during lunch time at work, because I also do gambling even when I'm in the office. What is bad is that I don't think casino websites are allowed in the office, or maybe you can't access gambling sites at all because it is part of the company's security, so if a gambler who works at work can access such a website, then it is safer to find the legitimate website because, as we know, many websites contain malware, viruses, or are used for phishing and scamming people. So having a work ethic is important, and it includes that an employee should protect the company from any viruses that could affect the company. So if you really can't resist to bet or gamble, then first make sure your website is clean; second, still do your task; and for the courtesy of your company, know first if there will be no problem from the company knowing you are playing gambling games.

It's okay if you gamble at work. But of course you should only gamble on your break time and you should use your own device. This is of course as a sign of respect to your company and to build up a good habit as well which will be beneficial to you in the long run. After all, accessing other websites is prohibited by some companies. So if you got detected, it might cause you to get in trouble. As long as you are doing your work efficiently and effectively, there's nothing harmful in using your lunch break or your free time during work for your leisure activities. Just be mindful of the time as well.
280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For Newbies Interested in Gambling on: November 10, 2023, 01:36:47 PM
In addition to to that, do not try to become a millionaire overnight. This is one of the most common mistakes that not only newbie gamblers make. Many gamblers forget that “little drop of water makes a mighty ocean”. Consistently winning 50% of your little stake is better than back and forth earnings whereby you win and because you don’t have a winning limit, you end up losing everything and eventually being in a loss, whereas you could have walked away with what you had.

This one is a good advice. It will be a challenge for the newbies to stay in their lane because they have so many aspirations and they have their hopes up. But it's really important to know when to stop. Do not try to win big instantly because the thing is, you can't. You must know the basics first and test the water before diving deep into it. That way, you won't drown while attempting to win. It's not bad to aim to become a millionaire, but you must know that it can't be achieved overnight. It's a process.

You must have the knowledge and the skills first and above all, you must have tons of luck on your side. While I don't really advise to aim being a millionaire using gambling as your way, I guess to each his own. Just manage your expectations so you won't be disappointed later on. Start small, big healthy gambling habits. And never let yourself be addicted.
