501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: September 02, 2023, 03:21:06 PM

We can learn a lot from an environment of various people to gain new experiences that will be useful for us. From there, we can also learn to continue to increase strong self-control so that we will not be affected by the temptations of gambling. We can also avoid using a lot of money, preventing us from becoming gambling addicts like the people in our environment. But maybe the point of gambling is that the government can get more tax money to support the country's economy, especially if the casino is in a certain city. But perhaps people feel that gambling does not benefit them because it only adds to problems, especially making many people addicted to gambling.

Gambling is one of the tax generators of a country among all the other businesses that pay taxes as well. It contributes to the economy of a country specifically those places that have a couple good casino establishments that are also being used as tourist spot and must-go-to places of the travelers. One good example is Las Vegas in Nevada that caters so many gambling spots for the tourists and even the locals.

Regarding learning from other people's environment, yes, I agree that that is one of the good ways to understand something without deeply exploring on your own. That way, you can save yourself from the troubles that others have gone through because you knew it from their experience first-hand.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 02, 2023, 02:22:29 PM
If you have hope, there's a lot of ways for you to find ways to earn more money to invest in Bitcoin.
Once in every two months investing in Bitcoin is still an investment, don't belittle yourself, don't compare yourself to other people, because that's the thief of joy, as the saying says. Don't rush yourself, just trust the process and you'll eventually gonna get wherever you wanted.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: September 02, 2023, 10:54:45 AM

Yes, it is true that addiction will make a person poor, because I rarely see addicts becoming rich, on the contrary, it makes addicts bankrupt and moreover many commit suicide because of large debts because they are ashamed of their families, that's why they are always reminded to gamble with be responsible and gamble wisely because it is difficult to recover from addiction.

There are lots of threads discussing addiction on this forum so that you can remind beginner gamblers, especially not to play like that, starting with small bets then getting big and out of control, after being broke and poor, you only realize that you are addicted, I think it is important to continue to remind beginners to be more careful when gambling.

This is what I commonly see, hear, and read too. I guess the usual scenario of gambling addicts that don't have the means to sustain his vices in the first place really involves becoming poor because he isn't financially literate to begin with and having piled up burdens on their chest such as having anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses because they neglect themselves. They prioritize gambling instead of taking care of themselves and their future. Which is really a problematic thing since it will have a chain reaction if you ever go downhill.

Most rich persons who became rich because of gambling, I can't really say they are addicted. I'd rather say they are passionate about gambling because they managed to grow profit by playing. In this case, they have what it takes to be successful such as the knowledge, determination, and of course discipline that made them achieve their current standing. If they are just like any addicts, they wouldn't be successful since gambling addicts are known to chase winnings despite it being impractical and irrational.
504  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My experience as a beginner trader on: September 01, 2023, 03:38:38 PM
There are no experience mate Grin you lose  as a beginner to become a stronger trader  Smiley so for everyone out there thinking of QUITTING QUITTING is not the option here just keep learning  till you  can say "Gone are those days " Grin

I agree.

But it's not applicable for everyone, because we don't have the same wallet capacity, meaning some of us have only limited amount of money and some of us have enough to continue their trading path. Not all of the quitters are weak, because maybe they are fitted on somewhere else. We all want profits in cryptocurrency, but it doesn't mean trading is the only way to have profits.
505  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading not for everyone! on: September 01, 2023, 02:10:21 PM
I definitely agree with you.

Not because some of your friends do it and making some profits doesn't mean you have to do it as well. We all excel in different kind of fields, we only have to figure it out where. Trying trading in futures is not a bad thing, it only becomes bad if you're to mad, greedy, and frustrated every time you lost a trade, that's why you're gonna end up chasing your losses without any effective plans at all.
506  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: September 01, 2023, 12:09:30 PM
usually we spend money according to our prestige, this is what makes us stressed. If we only have enough money for one month, but instead want to buy luxury goods, we end up borrowing money from other people or even banks that charge interest, which makes us stressed. learning not to be prestige is the best way to manage money, I totally agree with the first point.

Prestige is an attitude that is born when a person does not want to look poor in front of the people around him so that people who feel proud will always find ways to cover up their weaknesses or poverty with various things. Overall or in general it is really not good for anyone to consider prestige in front of many people so that it is recognized as great by everyone, even though in reality one's life is still in debt and it has not been repaid by several parties.

The feeling of prestige is a feeling that can be changed or removed slowly from each of us if we want to live more comfortably and be grateful for what we have now. So if we don't want to experience stress or difficulties in life, manage our finances as well as possible because the basic problem can always arise when we don't have money in life.

Exactly.

Those kind of people will even lend money just to sustain their rich lifestyle even though they can't even afford it, in exchange on just to flex that they have "money" to the people around them. I don't know what kind of mindset is that, since there's no benefits I can think of on doing such kind of thing.

Based on my experience, this type of people never learn, they always do the same thing even after something bad happened to them like they ended up being broke for a certain period of time.
507  Economy / Economics / Re: Is market manipulation a common occurrence everywhere? on: September 01, 2023, 11:32:59 AM
Everyone wields different powers when it comes to business. Some say that cryptocurrency prices can be manipulated by wealthy individuals. Despite being decentralized, it seems that price movements can be controlled by specific entities.

So, in your opinion, can everything related to money in this world be manipulated? For instance, do you believe that the value of the USD or the largest stock market in the US can be manipulated by a few individuals?

What kind of people are capable of market manipulation?

I believe any powerful countries can manipulate the market anytime they want, since regulators can't prove if the market is being manipulated or not, that's why it can happen anytime, and anywhere around the globe.

For example, country A wants to manipulate the market for country B's economy will stop growing for a certain period of time because of inflation or deflation of their own currency or stocks. So, yes, market manipulation is very common everywhere. It's happening I believe in order for powerful people to gain control, profits, and power.
508  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: August 31, 2023, 01:59:53 PM
Well, the main reason for that aside from inflation here in my country is that the Government is not supplying the rice we have that is locally harvested but they are getting rice internationally, maybe to get more profits from their citizens, you know, corrupt politicians are not new anymore.

Even the locally products we have here are being neglected, or should I say they are doing it on purpose to continue importing products for their own benefits and us to suffer to the price hike of every single products here in my country.

There's no hope anymore, we never learn I guess, we're always voting politicians that has bad records just because they promised something good during their campaigns. God bless us all.
509  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: August 31, 2023, 12:53:37 PM
I can't think of any legal business that can meet your expectations.

Illegal businesses only do that kind of profits, like instant profit, and you don't want to do that even if it's your last resort because the consequences if you get caught is not worth it. Starting a business is a trial and error process, you're not gonna make any profits at all in the beginning, unless you placed your business in the right place and your marketing strategy is superb.
510  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: August 31, 2023, 11:41:21 AM
The argument from the citizens of these African countries is that France is only concerned about exploiting raw materials and doesn't care about the development of the local economy. Others are also stimulating  that these coups are sponsored by some external forces that want to replace France.
Is France government that is controlling the country? No. So why thinking like that.

France is not technically controlling their government but the African people government has been corrupt ever since, anything that will benefit them, they will do it because of money. That's why people in africa are starving, because they have a government that doesn't care for them, who is abusing their resources but never shared the money to the citizens.
511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: August 30, 2023, 03:55:13 PM
<snip>
I think the first driving factor is being disciplined, taking a firm decision and standing by it. I've actually read through some responses and I saw something like cutting off internet connection, blocking gambling sites on phones/laptops and all that. This might actually work or just a temporary solution. Why? Because we've friends, brothers, colleagues and coworkers that are into gambling and sometimes they tell us about their winnings and we might be tempted. I have been there, though I wouldn't call myself an addict. At work your colleagues talks about their winnings, at home your siblings or friends do the same thing. If you're not disciplined enough, you might find yourself going back to your old habit.

I very much agree with this.

It will highly depend on your capability to dodge off the temptations around you. It's really needed to be careful and wise when it comes to building your gambling habit so you won't be addicted on the duration of your gambling journey. It's harder to recover from being addicted than preventing yourself into becoming one. Hence, you must put it in your mind that you should only spend a certain time and amount of money in gambling to avoid being dependent on it. Limit yourself from doing things that are not really in your goal. You can try exploring other recreational activities that doesn't involve money to relax and occupy your free time to break free once in a while on your gambling routine. This way, you'll be able to have some breather that will prevent you from getting so hooked up in gambling.
512  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 30, 2023, 03:07:49 PM

But some people keep their successes and losses a secret because they don't want people to see them. It's better for them to feel normal, like most people, so that people don't feel like they have something that makes them suspicious. However, if they can share their secrets about their gambling activities, they may be able to get help from others so they can start to cure their gambling addiction. However, some people hide their gambling activities because they feel they can still manage their gambling activities well, so they don't feel the need to tell other people.

But no matter how clever people are at keeping secrets, one day it will be known by others so that it might cause internal problems for them. Often, this even triggers fights in the household if it is a husband and wife relationship and the wife finds out her husband is gambling.

It depends on how people will perceive things. Some are proud and like to broadcast it to everyone so that others will be aware of their activities and perhaps inspire others to take the same path. Others just want to be lowkey and keep quiet about the things they do to avoid the unnecessary and unwanted attention of other people who might pry into their lives and the way how they do things. So it all boils down on what kind of person you are: a private one or a public one. And there's totally nothing wrong whichever or these you are because we have our own preferences and personality after all. It's just that those who are vocal can receive the criticisms and be reminded of the people around then that are concern to them the moment they aren't really doing well in gambling.
513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: August 30, 2023, 02:22:51 PM

I judge that curiosity is not something real but more precisely the pursuit of losses. someone who is curious, he will not continue to chase when he sees that the losses are getting bigger, but for a gambling addict, he does not care about his budget, which continues to be sucked up, just because he believes that chasing losses can get his budget back. its actually about self control because bad control curiosity turns into greed that chases past losses.

this reckless betting starts with small things that are ignored, such as when a gambler has to be committed to a plan that has been set before betting but ignoring it all ends in poor control.

It's really about the discipline a gambler possess. Because no matter how curious you are on what a bet might turn out, if you have enough self-control and you know your limitations, then you will not persist to play because you know the consequences to begin with. Meanwhile, if you are already addicted in gambling, you won't mind overspending and giving much time dedicated to gambling. You will be nonchalant to the losses because you are greedy to get the winnings.

Hence, it's really essential to follow your boundaries. Do not fall into having some kind of cheat day because if you will do such, you might find yourself indulging on it more frequently. Prevention is always better than cure. You must focus on your goal so you won't get lost.
514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: August 30, 2023, 01:26:42 PM
I like to play in autumn and winter, but the rest of the time I take a break from playing. My biggest wins were in the winter
There is no scientific reason why gambling/casinos have a certain time of year or season as your favorite. Casinos can favor you at any time of the year. You can't argue with how Winter or Autumn favors your destiny. But for many, his mental condition improves during the spring or winter, when he can focus on every task and achieve success. But if you engage in casino or gambling during these two seasons and refrain yourself during the rest of the season, it is not a bad thing but a wise thing to do. Control yourself as you plan and focus on your overall improvement.

I guess it depends on your mindset. It's a little bit more challenging to play during seasons that you don't feel like it. It's still a matter of perspective and your mood as well because it affects your decision making even in the slightest bit after all. Hence, we can't really judge those that say they do best when it's the specific season because maybe they also view it as their lucky season of the year. To each his own at the end of the day. It brings no harm to any of us to believe in any idea we are holding into.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: August 30, 2023, 10:20:54 AM
I thought why do they keep buying these tickets when they know it hurts them? there was nothing fun about it, I don't know how lotteries are in other countries, but in my country people who play lotteries are not happy people when they hear the results, and that's why I don't see the lottery as a good thing , I don't like lotteries and I stay away from lotteries. I prefer to place sports bets because it is something that depends on myself for success and I don't count on luck

We still can't ignore the fact that most of those people have got lucky due to those lottery tickets and when people saw those lucky ones they also decided to test their luck by purchasing the lottery tickets. The thing continued as a tradition and most people even don't really care about winning the lottery they buy the ticket for entertainment purpose only. Some people have earned a lot of money from those lottery tickets and a few of them are very rich only because of the tickets they bought.

I think that liking and disliking of a thing is someone's own choice because sometimes we prefer one thing while others prefer something else. There's no doubt that sports betting is a good choice but we can't ignore the fact that match-fixing is also something that takes place in sports events. I know that accuracy of winning is sometimes high in sport betting but still people enjoy to test their luck on those lottery games and especially lottery games of online casinos are much better than traditional lotteries.

Indeed.

It's a chain reaction the moment people knew that there's a recent winner on the lottery. They become curious, interested, and eventually be pushed to also bet so they can test their luck on the game of probability. It's a matter of mindset that if others can be so lucky to win the jackpot prize despite the slim chance, might as well something as such will also happen to them. I guess that's the biggest driving force for them to try lottery as well even though they aren't into it or in any type of gambling to begin with. Sometimes people just become so desperate to look for answers on their hard to solved problems, especially on financial matters.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: August 29, 2023, 03:51:24 PM

Those who already have a network can easily get people to join them, especially if they can prove that what they provide is really useful for the people who join. Other people will immediately want to join and follow the network to get the benefits.

But usually, people who want to try using referral links only have a little experience so they have difficulty getting people to join them. That's what makes many people fail before they can get one person who wants to join. That makes them say that looking for bonuses from referral links is futile.

They should find other ways to make money from the internet. Not many can immediately succeed in their business but must experience many things first. And they need to find ways that they can use successfully and that takes time.

Indeed.

Those people who already have a wide reach prior joing the affiliate programs and referral programs will definitely benefit the most because they have a broad audience to begin with whom they can reach out to influence and let them sign up for their code or using their links. It will be an easy task for those who have a huge following on their social media accounts that are also interactive with them. Based on my observation, if you already built the reputation and you've proven your character to the masses, the more they will trust you and eventually give in to try what you offer since they see you as a trusted source if ever there's one to be an influencer.

Although of course, it's still better to have other source of income apart from affiliate and referral bonuses because these are not constant. You have to have a stable income to survive these days.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: August 29, 2023, 02:27:24 PM

Women was more careful compared to man, because they are home minister to many family. They had a huge experience with the numbers,So they easy calculate the tactics for gambling games by playing few times. So the women will play huge role in gambling, they also don’t get addicted to the gambling easily.Because they don’t get addicted to anything, they had a capacity to forgot even their boy friends. So forgot the gambling will not be the big task to the women.Woman also control the deposit limit easily to the gambling site as compared to men.So when the women take part in the gambling ,it will be the biggest revolution to gambling.

I don't think gambling is gender-biased activity.

It really depends on the person whether he or she will be responsible enough for th action he will make. It's not really exclusive to a guy to be addicted. There are gambling addicts who are gals that suffer the same share of difficulties and challenges in gambling if not having the worst case or lesser worse scenario.

Additionally, I think the upbringing and the environment, together with peers surrounding you influence a lot to the possibility that a person might be a gambling addict or develop into such. Hence, you must choose and be determined to not be influenced in the bad way to stay away from being addicted no matter what gender identity you have. Picking the right people around you definitely helps too by building good connection with people who are fruitful and wise in life.
518  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: August 29, 2023, 12:49:05 PM

Before you start gambling, checking the casino is a must to be comfortable with gambling. But most people won't because they just see an interesting promotion and will even sign up right away and start depositing money. They also don't check everything, including the rules because they're afraid it's too late to get something out of the promotion.

The checks on casinos that we do are to make sure that it is the casino we are looking for and that we are not fooled by the promotional words they give us. There are lots of promotions that tempt us to play at the casino right away, but there are terms and conditions that apply that make it difficult for us to fulfill them. And if you want to bet, you should determine how much money you want to use so that if you lose, you won't feel that your bet was in vain.

I agree with this.

It's really needed to do a background check on the casino you are planning to play into so that you won't be scammed. The moment you also check what is the nature of the site you are going to play into, you'll be able to get used to the interface and the nature of the site, that way, you'll be comfortable or at ease while playing and betting. But of course, you should always remain firm about your aim on why you gambled in the first place. Do not go overspending and avoid falling into temptations by mitigating the external factors you can control.
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: August 29, 2023, 11:25:06 AM

actually I am also against cockfighting not only because it is against the law but it is against animal welfare, indeed that chicken is for consumption but let them serve its purpose , kill them and cook them and eat them , but to put them in arena to kill each other? is that their purpose?
to make people happy and earning from gambling, there are lot of gambling games lets enjoy those and leave the animal alone.

I share the same sentiments.

While it isn't illegal in our country to conduct a cockfighting activity, it is against the law to make a betting activities out of it because it becomes a breeding ground for corruption and other criminal activities due to desperation of most players involved in it as time passes by. It also doesn't provide the animal welfare these chickens deserve too. Despite having an omnivore diet, I believe these chickens don't deserve to die the harsh way which is by letting them fight each other until someone surrenders and dies eventually. Chickens are counted for consumption and not for human satisfying their ego by cockfighting. It's even banned in some countries which you can infer that there's really something wrong with it for it to be not allowed in other places.
520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: August 29, 2023, 10:38:05 AM

This is very well articulated to be honest, and I completely agree with you , playing for fun , and playing for money are two different things in gambling, but the line between them is very thin as you have said, but then, I think it's still very possible to play for fun regardless of the loss and others, all it takes is decision and will, and absolute consciousness of that decision, will and determination to stick to the rule no matter how much loss the gambler records ..

Like me for example, there have been several instances I am tempted to go away from my decision of gambling for fun into chasing what I think I have lost, but with consciousness of the decision I've made , which is to gamble for fun, no matter how much is lost, this keeps me focused and help not to deviate from that goal all of a sudden .

This is a good mindset.

Playing for fun and for profit are two different things. It's really important to distinguish this so that you can play properly and play responsibly. You shouldn't overlook everything just because you have some sort of desire which is to chase your winnings and to chase the jackpot. All it takes is playing moderately and having your goal in mind, being focused on what you really came for in gambling industry.
