881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: May 02, 2023, 01:48:51 PM
~Expecting that with all available information provided AI will always be right in its predictions is not wise. We shouldn't rule out the possibility of a team winning against all the odds. The question is, will AI predictions be more cumulatively more accurate than those of the human experts? I think, we are less than a year from the time when AI will beat humans in this regard.

Relying only on AI predictions may not be a wise decision since there may be unforeseen circumstances that could affect the outcome of bets.
Though the advantage of AI is that it can always analyze a vast amount of data and provide recommendations based on statistics.

One day AI will be able take those unforeseen circumstances into account and adjust the probability. And how far are we from that day, it's hard to say. What usually takes 5 years for humans, can take 5 weeks for an AI. I think at this point we have to be ready for a quicker development than we might expect. Most people, as always, will miss the train. Some time later the odds will be adjusted accordingly, but before that happens AI can help some people increase their good fortune in sports betting. Those are my dreams, and they may have never come true, of course. Smiley

Development of AI is guaranteed in the next few years. It's possible that AI will level up in a way we can't really imagine at this point of time. But as time passes by when technology and innovation gradually progress, for sure it will pave its way to thrive as well. Nowadays, AI can be used for various reasons such as in academic related and even in programming. Perhaps in the future it could predict and even empathize with emotion and relate to circumstances if ever needed by the person who asked.

AI has still a long way to go. It can definitely be useful in gambling, but for me, it's still much better if personal considerations are still going to be the main basis for decision making.
882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: May 02, 2023, 12:31:31 PM
But also those people who has work like 8 - 5 jobs which after their work they usually goes to casino and gamble meaning if they do it on daily basis without a miss for sure it can lead to addiction. That is why it is better to have an hobby like sports which it will divert your attention to others than doing gambling
For me working from 8AM to 5PM is really make me tired because I've spend most of my time on my jobs, I only feel free during weekend where I have more spare time to gamble, travelling, shopping or do anything I like. I only gamble for short time during work days because I need to have time with my family especially play with my kids during their golden ages. If someone who have been married and can gamble everyday, seems like he has a problem about gambling addiction.

That is also what I noticed about my coworkers in my previous job: either they will go to the arena for cockfighting or they will go to other places to get drunk. I feel that they are not tired of doing it, no matter how busy the work is. Even I can't do it, as I want to rest after the work unless it is not a busy day on which I still have spare energy. Though I wouldn't say that they are addicted, as they can still control themselves, it is just part of their daily routine to do it.

Perhaps your coworkers find joy in gambling as their hobby or past time every time after work. As long as they are responsible and do everything well in your workplace, then it's all good. Time, money, effort, and of course funds, are essential in gambling. If they have enough spare of those and doesn't bypass their other duties and tasks as a family member, friend, workmate, and the likes, then we shouldn't intervene. But if it's the otherwise, we could give a feedback and a caring opinion.
883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: May 02, 2023, 09:25:59 AM
This is a great example as to why we should learn how to handle financial aspects and take the responsibility on another level. Gambling is a huge risk. It requires a good decision making skills, luck, and sometimes skills. If you will not be disciplined in making bets and in playing, there's a high probability that you will experience the same as the one involved in the personal story OP shared.

Learning from someone's mistake instead of doing it so that you'll learn eventually is a better option. We have to weigh the pros and cons of every action we will do before executing it because it might cause harm than what we expected if we will just decide impulsively. I hope you, OP, learned from your friend's mistake so that the same unfortunate situation won't happen to you.
884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: May 01, 2023, 12:13:59 PM

that's all because slots are a type of RNG-based game that ends in luck that is hard to get and when playing slots one has to think of it as just having fun without expecting any win. and if you get a small or big win when playing Slots, that's just a bonus when you have fun with the Slot games that you enjoy.

to be honest, at first I was someone who often bet on live casino games such as poker, baccarat, blackjack and roulette. but when I tried to play slots I became a little addicted because I was too engrossed in playing slot games even though I often lost but in the end I got big wins like maxwin several times.
therefore I always plan a budget for gambling as long as I can afford to lose with that amount and if I lose I won't feel like a loss and my mindset when playing slots even though I lose today, tomorrow I will definitely win.

This is a good mindset. Playing with limitations is needed so that you will not regret your choices later on. You should have a specific fund allocation for gambling because going beyond what you can afford to lose could be detrimental to your health and to your financial capabilities. If you will not think thoroughly and overspend in gambling, the chances of you spending other fund intended to other things is high. Chasing winnings could be avoided if you will not going to be too engrossed in gambling because of your set limits. Since afterall, slots is a luck based games which can be addictive.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 01, 2023, 09:29:44 AM
I don't really point fingers to anyone because I know to myself that the last decision is still on me. Blaming someone for your own doing is just purely stupid, heartless, and selfish act. If you want to do something, you should always think many times before doing so to avoid regrets and to avoid putting the blame on other people who suggested or even advised you.

Gambling is a game of chance. It is combination of skills and luck which is really a risk on your end if you will play and bet. To avoid such, you must set limitations for yourself. Time, effort, and time are usually the most common things sacrificed in gambling. If you aren't ready for the consequences then set boundaries or just don't play or bet at all.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: April 29, 2023, 05:10:25 PM
I don't see a pattern in playing gambling and just press the "bet" or "Spin" button and then submit to the results that will come out.
If I just pay attention or make a pattern, I'm afraid I won't be able to enjoy gambling itself and will only waste my time gambling.
But I guess some gamblers do it because they have their own reasons and we can't blame them because it's their choice.
I also often hit the "Auto 50x, 100x, or other" button and just sit back, enjoy my coffee, and watch the results.
Whether the pattern exists or is just our imagination, our job is only to enjoy gambling as a temporary pleasure and when it's all over, we have to stop.

Well, you have a point. It's much better to play without worrying about anything because if you are thinking so much, you'll lose the fun. Overthinking can cause anxiety and some people don't really have the mental headspace to even deal with such. Hence, there are people existing like you who don't give a damn about strategies or techniques because you're just after the entertainment, not profit.

Personally, I think it's much better to have a strategy in playing to somehow increase the probability of winning. I'm the type of person that when I gamble, which I rarely do, I'm after the combination of fun and profit. I can spare some change and not expect anything in return, but I can't risk so much without assurance I will take and make some because after all, earning money is a challenge nowadays. But it's good for people like you that you have nothing to ponder on because all you want is to have a good time and it's just a bonus if you will win. Just still be reminded that do everything in moderation.
887  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you like commission job or salary base job? on: April 29, 2023, 03:35:00 PM
I'd say salary based job is much better, especially when you have to put food in the table. It doesn't matter if you're gonna be lazy, unproductive, or anything as long as you're doing your job and earning money, that's what matters. Your passion or what you really want in life won't feed you, or even your family, I mean don't get me wrong, you can't always make money with that because it's seasonal, lucky you if you have clients every single day that pays a lot for your commissions.

But if we're going to be practical, salary base job is better as long as it pays well for what you're doing for the company.
888  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there any point to start trading with 20$? on: April 29, 2023, 12:51:06 PM
Hello everyone,

I’ve lately been trying alot of different ways to start making money but something in me tells me trading could be really fun and exciting to get into. Unfortunately I can’t afford to invest much right now so I’ve managed to invest around 20$ to get started. I’d really appreciate if you all could let me know if what i am doing is worth it or am I just wasting time?

Kind regards,
Human

You can use that $20 to gain experience, but not that much. Trading in futures needs a lot of funds, patience, dedication, time, and perseverance. You're going to experience a lot of liquidated trades but make sure you're emotionally prepared as well, because once you started and lose too much, it's either you keep on trading 'till you master it or leave before it's too late.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should wait before owning my bitcoin on: April 29, 2023, 11:39:58 AM
There's nothing wrong with waiting if you know on what price to buy with your technical analysis because you need it to make a decision whether to buy or wait. Technical analysis might not be 100% accurate but at least you have something that will guarantee you that a certain price would happen for you to execute your plan.

Waiting without any plan at all is a waste of time. The only thing you could do is to buy now since we're only almost half wait from the last All Time High price, and the profit won't be that bad if you buy and hodl.
890  Economy / Economics / Re: After Budgeting, How Do I Deal With Unexcepted Expenses? on: April 29, 2023, 10:57:52 AM
It depends what the "unexpected expenses" are. If it's overspending on stuff, then you need to discipline yourself with your spending. On the other hand, if they're like unexpected medical bills and stuff, then there's nothing you can do but to try to increase your income.

As for being discouraged — if you don't budget, you're likely going to be in a far worse situation if you didn't budget.

I definitely agree.

Unexpected expenses that doesn't belong to the "needs" are not even a problem, because obviously if your money is already allotted to something, then you should not spend that over the things like when your friends asked you to go out with them to eat somewhere or to drink liquor to chill out. Adulting is a very tough job especially if your income is not enough to keep up with your expenses, either it is your needs or wants.

The only solution is to make a lifestyle that will fit in your income to avoid having a lot of debts or headache.
891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 29, 2023, 07:50:38 AM
There are legal and illegal gambling in the Philippines. It is not really prohibited to gamble as long as you are playing those gambling games that are permitted by the government to operate. Being involved in illegal gambling operations and even gambling participation have a specific punishment and fine whether you are an ordinary people or a government official.

Personally, I think it will be much better if there will be a certain law that will state that public officials are prohibited in participating in anything related with gambling. This is to protect the reputation and the view of the public officials from the citizens and at the same time so that there will be no bothersome comments and doubts about the fund or money being used for personal benefits.
892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 29, 2023, 06:26:23 AM
many gambling addicts have lost their minds because their desire to continue gambling overpowers their common sense, hence the importance of "gambling responsibly"
Ironically when there are people who cannot control addiction in gambling, this is just a small example of many gamblers that ended worse and there are some who end their lives because they are in debt when gambling. Gambling is responsible when you are not addicted and when it cannot be controlled, in my opinion it is difficult to be responsible for gambling choices.

The problem is how you put gambling, if done only for fun in spare time is not a problem. But when gambling is done as a substitute for permanent work, this will be far more problematic and it is very difficult to control, the decision is in each of us and as much as possible avoid addiction in gambling.

Gambling don't have responsibility over the players. Players have the sole responsibility over themselves and their gambling habits. It's not as if gambling games can adjust to a person's need or want. It's our decision whether we will play and bet or not. It's just that, sometimes people go overboard their capacity that leads them to being addicted in the process.

Addiction is a serious matter of dependency on gambling because of the thrill, excitement, entertainment, and/or profit it brings. If a gambler won't set limitations and boundaries on to what extend he will play and spend money, there will be a high chance that he'll get lost in the process. And when this happens, chain of negative reactions occur in a person's life such as losing cash on hand, savings, and even being buried in pile of debts. From there, some people become depressed, anxious, and even have suicidal tendencies. Some people resort to doing bad things just to sustain their gambling habits. And this is where professional intervention must be done in order to make gambling madness into full stop.
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will never own a whole Bitcoin and that's okay on: April 28, 2023, 12:08:52 PM
I believe we've been all missed something big in cryptocurrency world or even in the real world, but that's okay, because we can't have it all, we can win always, we can't be happy always, everything should be in balance to grow more, so we have to experience bad things as well in able to learn something from it, and be a better person.

Not owning a whole Bitcoin after so many years is not a big deal, because maybe you're spending your profit in your daily needs, like paying your bills, buying foods, maintenance inside your house, and your wants, etc. That's amazing already, and that's the purpose why we are earning money, to spend on things we needs and wants.
894  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: IS IT SAFE TO INVEST PENSION FUNDS IN BITCOIN? on: April 28, 2023, 07:25:29 AM

I spoke to a friend about Bitcoin and he asked if it is safe to invest Pension funds in Bitcoin considering the fact that this is a retirement saving. I am skeptical of investing people's funds in this coin because it can't be predicted also we cannot overlook the fact that Bitcoin may enhance investment returns at retirement.
However, my findings from people that work in these organizations say contributor's funds in some categories can be invested in risky investments because of the high return on investment and contributors have the option to opt for this option but with the exception of the soon-to-retiree.

Actually it depends on how you define "safe".

If it is "safe" like no one is gonna be able to steal it or "safe" like it's gonna pump forever continuously after you invested on it, then no. Investing your money in Bitcoin is a rollercoaster ride, because the market is not always green, it's red, when it is bear market. Now, if you're gonna hold it for a while, like you're not after the profit in short term period, then yes, it is safe but make sure you're gonna store it in a hardware wallet or in a cold wallet.

Just make sure as well that your private keys is safe, and no one except you knows about it.
895  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving is Wasting? on: April 28, 2023, 05:06:09 AM
Well no I do not agree that saving is wasting. But I do think it is all depending on your situation. For a person like you who is spending most of his money on his education I think it is normal to save you money that you have.

If we have only a small amount of money we should not invest it. It is just too risky and investment is for people that can afford to lose the investment. For you it is best to save your money for future expenses. If you have a emergency you will want to make sure you can afford to take care of that.

Correct.

Saving becomes a waste of time and opportunities if you have the capability to invest it on something but you chose not to, and that's a choice. If I'm going to be brutally honest, that's really a waste of opportunities because rather than using your money in investment, you always chose to let it sleep on the bank while the bank gets take advantage from it, and you're the one who gets nothing.

But I guess it depends on the person, because to others, they are playing it safe so instead of investment they save it to banks or to their storage, but others prefer to risk it to know the results.
896  Economy / Economics / Re: How do feels losing money? on: April 27, 2023, 12:55:49 PM
Losing money due to fraud or bad investment can make you feel very bad. I understand that because I am going through the same thing as you. However, it is very important not to give up on the situation and to learn the lesson from the experience.

Since it is important to understand the risks associated with investing and not to put all your money in one place, this is what I did after falling victim to a fake investment scam. In addition, it is important to always do research and check the background of a company or website before making an investment decision. Although losses may occur in investments, with a careful and prudent approach, you can minimize your risks and increase your chances of success in your investments.

I have not gotten myself this days. Do you feel down when such sudden hits happens to you?
it is important not to continue to mourn the loss and to find a way to bounce back. First of all, try to stay calm and seek help from friends who can give you support. You can also seek advice from experienced investors on how to manage risk in your investment and minimize future losses. Finally, remember that losing investments is part of the game and sometimes it can happen to anyone. What matters is how you respond to the situation and continue on your investment journey with greater discretion and caution.

I agree.

Moving on is pretty hard after such experience but after some time you'll just laugh when you remember the time you got scammed because of your own naiveness, I guess that's pretty normal as a beginner, but also not an excuse. The moving on part will depends on how much money he lost, the bigger the money, the harder it will be to be accepted, especially if that's his last money and he risked it all hoping for something good.
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto (btc) is not for the weak on: April 27, 2023, 05:30:57 AM
You'll know right away if they are weak emotionally, and at the same time, stupid.

They will invest in Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency right after they've seen their friends making money out of it, without any questions asked like "how is that possible?", "What am I supposed to do?" just "how can I deposit my money to Bitcoin?" and that's it. Next day, they'll flood you of "why is the price going down, my money is slowly disappearing" something like that.

They didn't know that cryptocurrency is not the same like fiat, it's much complicated so research is a must before depositing your funds in cryptocurrency.

898  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why trading Crypto (instead of Forex) on: April 27, 2023, 01:57:38 AM
The Biggest advantage is volatility IMO.

For example, coins/tokens like PEPE pumped by over 1000% recently in a very short time. Even a noob who bought the token and sold it off before the dump can make some good profits off a spot market with much less effort, something which is not easy with forex. In forex, you have to be good at technical and fundamental analysis.

About on chain data and derivative exchange data, I barely even use it, and yet I trade everyday while using Technical Analysis only.

I agree.

Volatility is the number one reason why people trade cryptocurrencies instead in forex. It is much worth it in my opinion as well in the long run rather than sticking to digital fiat which is too boring to watch and takes a very long time before it could actually "pump". Also, fiat could be easily manipulated by the government which makes it not good for trading.

Don't get me wrong, cryptocurrency could be easily manipulated as well but at least not because of the government totally controlling its whole system.
899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take Part in Gambling Lotteries ? on: April 26, 2023, 03:23:17 PM
I was a lottery guy years ago because lottery was one of the most popular and the most played gambling game in my country.
Lottery is a fun game if you like it because of the chance to win big with small stake.
Of course we should not force ourselves to participate every single day, do it for fun only and do not spend to much on it.
I've left lottery game since long time ago after I won 3000x of my stake which gave me nice return at that time.
Lottery is an incredibly popular gambling game as many people do not even think of it as a form of gambling, in fact where I live there are several religious institutions which perform lotteries and no one thinks anything out of it, even if supposedly gambling is forbidden for the followers of some religions out there, and when we add that the lottery is an incredibly simple game to understand then this adds to its popularity, especially if we compare it to a game like poker which can be a very complex game.
Well, you are right, many actually do not see on consider lotteries as a form of gambling probably due to its simplicity, which usually involves just buying some tickets, then relax and wait for the result to know if you won or not.

Many people, including religious organizations consider gambling to be all about betting against other people, arguing that something will happen and betting on it against others who believe such a thing will not happen.
This is probably why some religious organizations see lotteries as a way of giving back to the society, rather than gambling.

Lottery have charity institutions they support. The give back to the community by helping those who are in need which is a good thing. I guess this is one of the good contribution of those people who try their chance to win in lotteries despite the slim chance of getting the jackpot prize. Although it's not really that practical, if we will check the practicality of taking your luck and then waiting for miracle to happen because there's so many number combinations and it'll be a very strong competition against the odds. I guess it's really to each his own.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why we should play on minor gambling platform? on: April 26, 2023, 02:14:38 PM
Personally I'm only using platforms that have been around for some time, and of course those that have a very good reputation or are very well known in mainstream.  However if someone does choose to use a smaller lesser known casino, then as long as you are able to withdraw your money out quickly, it's probably not as big of a deal.  That's why withdraw times/speeds are so important to me.
Almost all old casinos have fast withdrawals on average but not for new casinos because it might complicate withdrawals by asking for KYC or complicated documents or fulfilling wagering requirements if you can't fulfill that you won't be able to withdraw your money even your account will be banned and funds frozen, you are right to play in old casinos because apart from being guaranteed safe they are also much more convenient.

small casinos or new casinos are very unsafe to play big money so if you want to test it, be sure to complete KYC or use small money then play if you are ready to make a withdrawal and if the process is fast then use big money, because to test it you have to use small money to avoid casino scam.

Reputable casinos really have the hearts of the players because of course, the capability of the casino is already proven for the whole duration of their operation. The functionality and the features of these casinos stand out which is the reason why they have so many patronage and is still continuously operating despite new rising competitions. Most people are after the reviews and feedbacks. If there will be lesser to none who will vouch for a website, they will think twice on depositing and playing in it.

But of course, discovering another great casino won't happen if people are going to choose the same casino all over again. It takes risk to try new things and explore something unfamiliar to you.
