1181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This Smells Like Hypocrisy on: January 25, 2023, 12:10:53 PM
I've read that sports betting, horse-racing and other three events tied to entertainment are now allowed in Japan. It was stated that these events are usually held by the government which in this case, it seems to me that they are after the regulation and the welfare of their citizens together perhaps with interest in mind to collect taxes. Japan is one of those countries in which you will really see how discipline they are. Maybe this is the reason why their government don't permit other types of gambling because they deem it necessary to prevent their constituents losing their values and principles in getting addicted.

Those gamblers who want an outdoor fun would definitely be on disadvantage because they can't enjoy casino games and the likes. Good thing is that they can have an alternative which is gambling online just to satisfy their urge to gamble if they really want to. However, the ambiance and experience wouldn't be in par in gambling in actual casino. But I think it's still much better than being unable to do nothing at all.
1182  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 25, 2023, 11:34:11 AM
Desktop too, no questions.
Easy access to everything, if you want to open something in a new tab you just click it unlike on a smartphone you have to hold it and pick the option.
Also when it comes to reading, I am having a hard time with small letters although my vision is still as clear as when I was young. Zooming it in is a hassle then there's the chance of making a mistake if you are betting.
I've tried Stake.com on my phone before, but I didn't like it. I'd just use it only if I don't have access with my desktop but that had not happened yet as I try to put my bets as early as possible if the line is available.
To open a new tab on phone is not a problem for me.

I do not zoom in on phone while using most gambling sites, many gambling site do not even allow people to zoom in on mobile phone, the betting site user interface adapt and compatible with the phone.

Using a 1080p phone with a very high processor and good refresh rate would be good. If you have 5G data connection or at least 4G would be good for gambling on mobile phones.

Nice points, but  it's also advisible to use a high specified mobile device for gambling in other to enjoy the speed and storage space needed, there has been many mobile device challenges that could cause obstruction to gambling whenever we are unto it, i will also make this suggestion to always place the mobile network connectivity on 4G lite mode only which can serve better for the purpose of browsing even though calls may not be able to come in while gambling to avoid distraction and disturbances while gambling.

This is a nice input! While we're talking about accessibility, we should also talk about the things that could make the lives of the outgoing gamblers more convenient and hassle-free. Because accessibility would be useless if the things you are using can't really support a proper connection and stability through the gambling sites or applications.

If we are referring to the things mostly used by everyone in this world, not only gamblers, smartphone would be one of the top rank. If you really want to gamble hassle and trouble-free, you should definitely invest in your device, most especially if you are using it on a daily basis. Because after all, you wouldn't want to have your device lagging ang hanging up on you while you make and place bets. Personally, I find it irritating whenever my phone lags. It's such a nuisance. With gamblers habit of betting, you really need to have an updated software and other specifications in match for smooth playing. Connectivity plays a vital role too because even if you have the best phone in the world, but if your connectivity sucks, you still won't be able to enjoy playing.
1183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 24, 2023, 03:21:52 PM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

Accessibility can really play a part on a person's addiction, aside from genetics and mental health problem. Those people who struggle with self-discipline and restraint will really have a hard time if they will remain in an environment where there are much triggers that can fuel up their thirst to gamble. Hence, they must remove themselves from that place whether it may be literal or in metaphor.

People with addiction should seek the help of the professionals to effectively combat it with proper guidance. Slowly removing gambling from their system can help them to avoid relapse. While it is hard to avoid gambling online since it is accessible anytime and anywhere, there are various ways to avoid going back to gambling again while you are healing such as self-exclusion. Opting to be self-excluded can make a significant difference. They can opt out from receiving emails, promotions and notifications to avoid being tempted. Although it's still a matter of how you will handle yourself because the casino can't really make a way if you decide to make another account.
1184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 24, 2023, 12:10:07 PM
There is this thing about shopping and airlines that when you check and forget, they send you bonus or discount for your possible shopping/trip. Same holds true for casinos, if you just register and leave they will send you some bonus to get you started playing.

This is true in some casinos. Even in other platforms and applications, it happen, which is why some are making this strategy to generate bonus from whichever they signed up to. Other people here in our country called it "farming" because you just make an account that somehow equates to planting a seed, leave it over a certain period of time, and wait for it to have bonus that equates to bearing a fruit. Many people do this here in specific applications.

Although just don't let your hopes up that high because while it works to some, it doesn't guarantee that it will work on you too. After all, not every casino will be generous enough to give a bonus to inactive players. Keep your expectations low because not every single time, you'll get rewarded from doing this. It's not a great way to enjoy gambling because you have to keep waiting before you can enjoy, without really a guarantee, but you could use some of the free bonus to indulge if ever they will really give any.
1185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice on choosing a crypto casino on: January 24, 2023, 11:33:55 AM
Greetings, esteemed community. Could you help me advise? I've seen a lot of topics on the forum about crypto or bitcoin casinos, but I need clarification on their point. As I understand the crypto casino involves paying in different cryptocurrencies, and the bitcoin casino involves only bitcoins. How to choose a casino, is there a criterion for this, or do you just go to any casino and play? It's a rash move without preparation. Also interested in a payment system, which is recommended to play in such casinos? Or just a suitable crypto wallet? I apologize for my silly questions, but I want to understand everything once and for all.

Searching and asking for suggestion on which casino is reputable and offer the best quality of service with variety of games is usually what thoroughly thinker newbies do before actually playing in a casino. It's a good thing that you asked here first before playing on whatever casino that pops on your mind or referred by a friend. This is because, sometimes the things you know aren't enough to be the reason to just delve into playing already. Sometimes, you need new perspective and you have to get other's opinion and their personal experience to the casino itself may it be physical or online to decide which will be suitable for you.

Of course, your personal preferences would matter too so you should still go with what you think you will enjoy the services provided that the casino is reliable. Common mode of depositing is most casinos are though cards such as debit or credit. Most online casinos now accept different cryptocurrency as well. Some have their own token which is optional to use and so on.
1186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 24, 2023, 06:40:22 AM
Quote
The DA’s office said the victim asked Argueta to claim the prize on his behalf to remain anonymous, promising $50,000 of the prize.

Argueta, who lived in Virginia at the time, agreed to claim the prize on the victim’s behalf and drove to New York to receive the winnings.

At the time, though, the New York State Gaming Commission was not accepting winning tickets in person, so Argueta mailed the ticket to the commission on Nov. 13, 202, instead.

Within weeks, Argueta reportedly went to deliver the NYS Lottery paperwork to her cousin, which said the price winnings totaled $20,000. Along with the paperwork, she handed her cousin an envelope with $13,436 in cash, and said the rest was held for taxes.

The victim found a press release from the NYS Lottery website saying Argueta claimed the $1 million prize and received a lump-sum payout of $537,440 after taxes, the DA’s office said.

The DA added that the victim called Argueta, who said she did not have any more money and if continued to call her, she would take legal action. In May 2022, Argueta forfeited $317,857.13 in winnings from her bank account, which were returned to the victim.

[1] https://nypost.com/2023/01/22/texas-woman-pleads-guilty-to-stealing-cousins-1-million-winning-scratch-off-ticket/

The valuable lesson that can be learned from the story above is that if you want to remain anonymous for your lottery winnings, do it yourself, and don't entrust money-related matters to other people (even if that person is someone close to you)

if i were am victim, i will not reconcile with that cheating cousin, unless she returns all my winnings that she has used, how about you?

You shouldn't really entrust your winnings with anyone except yourself.

This is one of those situations wherein you can really see the greediness of someone. The evil intention of the the cousin arose the moment she knew that there's a huge money involved. It was just so sad that it had to happen to the victim because of putting the full trust to the relative. It just angers me to know that people this greedy do really exist and are more aggressive in taking actions when in fact, the victim just wants to get the money back.

If I were the victim, I would definitely cut ties, file the case, and push through with it so that people like her will be served of what they deserve to experience. Punishment shall be given even though the abuser and victim is related by blood. It shall not be settled amicably because of the inconvenience and all the trouble the impulsive and selfish act of the cousin caused.
1187  Economy / Gambling / Re: How best to report vulnerabilities? on: January 23, 2023, 02:33:42 PM
So I discovered a bug affecting a mode of play at OwlGames casinos that results in certain games rewarding more money than they should.  I tried to report it to OwlGames but was told that they have no bug bounty program and to "enjoy the bug" (not kidding).  (of course their docs say that any "exploit" can result in not being paid out, but it's not an exploit if it's simply how things run under the given conditions - not that that would stop them from screwing someone over I'm sure)

Their poor attitude certainly doesn't do much to make me want to help them out anymore although that was my intent.

But since it is only certain games, from 1 provider, should I try to contact that provider instead?  It's possible I imagine that it's not just OwlGames that might possibly lose money to the issue, though I really don't know.

I guess since these are casinos, losing a couple hundred to a few players every few days that would otherwise not have won anything maybe is just a drop in the bucket.  But I found it so strange that they immediately just alerted me that they have no bounty program.  Aren't casinos supposed to be pretty protective of their money even if they have a ton of it?  Huh

Anyone else have any experiences of trying to report issues like this?  I want to be rewarded for my time verifying the issue without taking advantage of it and alerting someone about it, too, so I'm also just worried about giving the info out and having them come up with some excuse like "oh it just needed a restart it's fine now, that's not a bug."

If that's their response towards you, then they aren't open for feedback and are slacking off their jobs to maintain the casino abuse-free which is really a cause of concern since these abusive activities are prohibited in the first place. Why would they even say a statement of enjoying the bug, if really there is any instead of acknowledging their shortcomings and giving a reward? Perhaps they are just too complacent and too confident that it won't happen, or they just don't want to acknowledge your report because they have to give a reward, which they don't want to.

Check whether the casino still have this bug and if they do, they probably are just confident and slacking off maintaining the casino away from glitches. If it suddenly don't have it after you reported, then most probably they have taken an action about your concern but decided not to credit you for noticing which I believe is such a jerk move if ever it is the latter reason.
1188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your take on this crypto gambling use case idea? on: January 23, 2023, 01:14:12 PM
It's normal for casinos to do that because it's their business and they can offer gamblers to use their tokens to gamble. But they also have to provide an exchange in their casino so that gamblers who deposit money using other coins can exchange their coins for the casino's tokens. Regardless if it's a casino that has a unique set that differs from other casinos, it's their business. It may work because the casino can give a different casino than most. And this requires a good promotion to become one of the recommended casinos.

I agree with this.

There are already existing casinos that offer their own tokens to their players However, not all players like using tokens so it just means that most probably, half or more than half of the players population will rather choose using other crypto coins or depositing directly to be able to play. This is because they are avoiding the unnecessary hassle of undergoing exchanger when they can opt not to use it in the first place. So having a token, a casinos should really be prepared with all the responsibilities that come along with it such as the maintenance of the exchanger they will provide, since after all, a downtime of such in a span of time could cause big trouble and inconvenience to the patronages.
1189  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 23, 2023, 12:12:10 PM
I prefer gambling from my desktop device and the comfort of my home. I have never been a fan of mobile casinos.
In today's era, I think phones are occupying a bigger share of the market. Everyone has a phone nowadays, and a good phone is more affordable than a good laptop or PC.

It's very interesting, but I have this friend who used to be a gamer growing up. He always had expensive PCs but never used them for anything else except games and the occasional school work. If he is not gaming, that computer is turned off. Everything else he does online is through his phone. I am the exact opposite.
I understand that some desktop games are better graphics and game features compared to the mobile format of the same game, and even the screen resolution of desktop games is different and more comfortable for gaming. But mobile games are more friendly most especially in outdoor games mobile device is easy to carry about and because of that comfort, they attract more users than desktop, and also due to the limited number of PC users due to its complexity and affordability which make a mobile device to become the choice of young gamers so comparing the two-game format could be hard since both have their advantages.
If someone can't afford a desktop, then that's a different matter, but considering everything, gambling on a computer or desktop always has a benefit, big screen, then almost all casino games can be played. Moreover, the website will run slightly faster on desktop than on mobile.
However, it is admitted that mobile betting placement for out-of-home use is not bad. I've done it myself a few times. But if you want to have the real fun of casino I prefer a desktop. Because nowadays some casinos have provided facilities like live casinos and its enjoyment can be fully enjoyed only on a desktop.

For those starters that are still saving up for desktop, you will most likely see them using their mobile devices. However, some of them still find the convenience in desktop viewing so they are checking or accessing their accounts using desktop view of their mobile device. Some uses app because it's more pleasing to the eye especially if you are outside your home, running some errands or attending some events.

It's really a matter of preference and situation. I have my moments before wherein I prefer using desktop over application especially in viewing the marketplace or accessing my main account. But way back, I prefer to just use the app for playing to have the convenience instead of bringing my laptop with me which is bulky and heavy. I agree that you can notice the difference of running through website via desktop or through mobile. So if you have both, just use what you are fond of the most and what suits your current situation.
1190  Economy / Economics / Re: A Bank of America Glitch Sent Customers Into a Panic Over Missing Funds on: January 21, 2023, 01:13:53 PM
I read about this today, very serious considering Zelle is an important payment processor here in my country.
In this place, where people can barely have some savings, seeing your money disappear that way must have been quite traumatic for people and businesses alike.

Just another problem of centralization solved by Bitcoin, I guess.  Roll Eyes

There no perfect systems anywhere because there might be hitches sometimes. Although throughout my dealings with Bitcoin wallets I have never experienced any form of transaction failure or balance issues, all my transactions have been successful. But most of these Central Bank Chiefs always see Bitcoin as the illegitimate child of money and fiat as the legitimate offspring.

Or maybe it's not some hitches but them trying to steal their customers funds lowkey, who knows. Same scenario also happened here in my country where a certain bank has the same issue, it happened twice already but not in the same year. Maybe there's some dark agenda going on inside, that's why I never do banking. I'd rather keep it in my hand or in a Bitcoin wallet so I can sleep better at night.
1191  Economy / Economics / Re: How is the cost of living in your country? on: January 21, 2023, 11:06:13 AM
Cost of living here in the Philippines is pretty cheap compared to other countries, but the salary and wages isn't on par with the price of goods. I live alone, have two jobs and live near the city. What I earn is more than enough for me and some other hobbies that I have. Total budget every month never exceeds $600, and that includes rent, bills, food, and gas for my car. However, the quality of the food I eat is a little compromised; I seldom have any greens on my food because of how crazy expensive they are here. Meat is somewhat cheap, and that is what's usually on the menu. Any other comforts in life, I can afford but choose not to because I'm trying to save and invest in order to retire early.

I definitely agree with you.

The golden era is really legit. Ever since, the salary here in the Philippines doesn't really do it's justice, especially to those jobs that doesn't require a college degree, like construction workers. They are doing heavy work and yet they are always underpaid. Cost of living here in the Philippines ain't cheap anymore, in my opinion. Everything went up, but the salary stays the same which makes for every filipinos to suffer on budgeting their money just to eat 3 times a day.

In these days, you to at least make $600-$1000per month especially if you have your own family to feed.
1192  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: January 21, 2023, 08:49:31 AM
The last statement will work, for those who can adopt the market and have that chance to learn more about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency investing is a good opportunity to grow that money.

But, if you don't have that time then go with conserving that money and try to do some little
investment while the major portion of your save money can be stored in the bank for emergency
needs.
But even if someone understands investing about Bitcoin and even though they are professional traders, when they have retired from their main job, they prioritize emergency needs funds rather than investments because they need these funds for treatment and it is very detrimental to cut losses from crypto investments for future medical needs, anyone will prioritize health conditions so it should be from the start to allocate funds for emergency needs without disrupting funds from crypto investments.
When saving up for your health then it should have been done earlier or into those years when you are just working or still earning from your main job.Its true that on the time that these people do make out retirement then they would really be putting up focus on saving up themselves for their health in case of emergencies. Its not bad to make your crypto investment to be at affected because not all would really be that not much serious or really sticking out for long term.We do all know that we do really make out an investment for some sole purpose and if your purpose would be basing up or focusing up on health
then its your choice on when you would be pulling it all off.Its your money and its your right on when and where you would be focusing yourself and its up to our choice.

It's a choice that you need to be wise, saving and having a good amount of funds for your retirement will help in terms of financial capabilities. Either investing or saving the intention is always depending on you.

People who work well managing their savings and aiming to invest to grow their investment
are people who can gain enjoyable retirement in the future.

Emergency funds shouldn't be stored in a bank, because sometimes they can't provide the amount we need instantly if it's too big, of if we're going to withdraw via ATM machine, sometimes it runs out of money or in maintenance. Emergency funds should be put in an insurance, because most emergency situations are about health, like sudden accident, or an illness. Insurance company could easily release the funds anytime, less hassle than going to a bank.

Also having a cash on hand is also much better for an emergency. Just make sure you have a safety vault in your house where you can hide it.
1193  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: January 20, 2023, 02:37:40 PM
Putting your ideals to others is bs too.

I can't imagine how you could say those things if you needed fiat to buy properties or to maintain those properties. Fiat is the currency that is still needed if you want to buy products, services, or even properties nowadays, you can't deny that fact. Cryptocurrency is much better in your properties investment, in my opinion, high volatility means high profits in the long run.

Or maybe you couldn't see it or you're just ignoring that fact because you've lost a lot in the past bear markets.
1194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had known on: January 20, 2023, 01:57:00 PM
I'm afraid there's a lot of things you still don't know about Bitcoin. But you'll learn on the way, so don't stop on studying and earning Bitcoin. Though, you could have earned a lot already in those years if you didn't doubt Bitcoin in the first place, especially there's no risk at all in engaging this forum. I've learned a lot already since I started here, but I still have a long way to go.

I'm proud to say that Bitcoin helps me to change my life up 'till now and in the future. It's better than fiat, that's for sure.
1195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want to be great? Then be ready to learn. on: January 20, 2023, 01:20:56 PM
lots of people in the past did not believe in the ability of bitcoin, but over time bitcoin finally proved that he was so valuable.

if you are interested in learning about bitcoin you are not wrong to choose, because this is indeed the best forum to learn about bitcoin and crypto. and of course you are still not too late to learn.

I agree.

But you can't blame them though, because a lot of ponzi schemes used Bitcoin to gain profits by making people believe that the ponzi was actually legit. Though, people who really understand how Bitcoin works could never be a victim of a ponzi scheme. Misconception about Bitcoin until now here in our place is still a company that will give them profits if they are going to invest their money on it. I always try to correct them but they never listen.

So I let them believe what they want to believe and focus on myself how to earn more Bitcoin.
1196  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 20, 2023, 10:27:55 AM
I am strongly in favour of desktop applications or even web based, as I think that phones are usually to small and I do not really trust much the apps, but there seems to be many people who would rather use their phone. Is that because they do not have access to a desktop computer? It may also be a regional issue, the same as people that do not use a browser?

I guess it's really a matter of preferences and accessibility.

For some gamblers, they prefer to access their accounts through their personal computer because foremost, they have one, second, they find it easier to navigate due to completeness of buttons and tabs to be clicked which can be seen in a single view, and lastly, they just prefer it over using mobile phones and other devices. Some people are just very much fond of using big screens where they can instantly see what they want to see. I think this is one of the main reasons why gamblers prefer website view and not an application. Although this is still a matter of preference since some are much more comfortable with using a phone and application. Perhaps the reliability of website is what they are after too. Websites do not necessarily have to be installed nor updated. You just have to search and click it which gives them the convenience of saving a storage and possible hacking if ever the developer fucks up in maintaining the app.

Meanwhile, some gamblers prefer application based games. Some games are much better to be played using a portable gadget so perhaps that's one of their reason. Accessibility of it is an important matter too. They can play and access their account whenever and wherever they are without having to bring a laptop with them. So you see, it depends of what situation you are in and what are you would rather choose given the circumstance or even based on your own taste.
1197  Economy / Gambling / Re: What else should an established crypto casino add? on: January 19, 2023, 03:53:11 PM
Hello,

As an established crypto casino, I believe it would be beneficial to add more variety in terms of games and betting options. Adding new and unique games that are not offered by competitors would attract more players and keep current players engaged. Additionally, offering more betting options such as sports betting or live casino games would also increase the appeal of the platform.

Another important feature that an established crypto casino should add is a mobile application. A mobile application would make it more convenient for players to access the casino from their phone, and would make it easier for players to play on the go.

Moreover, a VIP program or a loyalty program that rewards regular players could also be added. This would incentivize players to continue playing on the platform and would increase player retention.

Additionally, the casino should also have a good customer support system, a fast and easy withdrawal process, and a variety of deposit methods for the convenience of the players.

Overall, the key is to stay innovative and offer more than what the competitors have, this will attract new players and retain the current ones.

Best regards

Indeed. Innovation and creativity of the casino owner is needed so that they could keep up with the existing reputable casinos and to the emerging ones. If the casino will keep on serving the same variety of games, rules, bonuses, and prizes, the players wouldn't lay their eyes on them because there's nothing unique and something to explore and discover, since they have experienced those already.

The players, particularly the regulars want to have a breath of fresh air. A quality service which they could get a satisfactory entertainment and perhaps an additional income as well. If the casino will incorporate the needs, wants, and the emerging trend nowadays, it's most likely they will have a good market audience.
1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 19, 2023, 03:15:57 PM
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?

Maybe, or it's because it's the only way they can think of to maximize their profit in the long run.

~ Why do people hodl rather than sell and buy again when low

Not all of the people in the cryptocurrency world are good traders, so they always choose to stay in the safe zone rather than trying to trade their Bitcoin.

~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?

Well, I'm not a good trader, so I do trading only whenever I feel to do so or I'm in the zone. So most of the time all I do is buying the dip and holding for as long as I can in this kind of market. Patient is the key actually if you want bigger profit in holding.
1199  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it safe to buy now? on: January 19, 2023, 02:38:21 PM
Red candles are good indications to buy, if you bought bitcoin on its lowest price, then you could've made already profits since it pumped up to $21,000. Investing on some coins, like altcoins could be crucial, especially if you don't study about their background, you might lose your funds in the long run. So stick to biggest coins if you want to hodl while the market is in bearish season.

Top performing coins are more reassuring to hold rather than risk your funds on your luck by buying some random altcoins.
1200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Please Suggest Some Free Crypto Trading Signals on: January 19, 2023, 01:56:49 PM
Free crypto trading signals are just for bait. First they are gonna give you signals that are going to give you profits and then after that, they will stop, for you to crave more and they'll ask for fee in return. It's not worth it in the long run, you'll never learn a thing about trading by relying on someone else signal. Self-taught is much better, it's challenging, and depressing at first but after you make it through, you'll just laugh at yourself and say "I made it".
