2601  Economy / Speculation / Re: FTX recovered $7.3B in Assets and is considering restarting! on: August 11, 2023, 10:25:48 PM
Looks like Sam Bankman Fried’s bail has been revoked meaning he’ll be doing a little jail time, at least until his court is over with. It is interesting to watch as the people behind him are seemingly beginning to prioritize the business over the man. Will his bribes eventually free him from his fraud or will he be the fall guy as FTX gets restarted?
2602  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: August 11, 2023, 10:11:31 PM
Will there ever be a way for people to invest in Stake? I think the growth of Stake and their investments into Kick.com make them an extremely attractive investment, but I don’t know if any way to get some skin in the game. Will there ever be a private placement investment program or maybe a way to invest in the bankroll?
2603  Other / Politics & Society / Re: a slap on the faces of patriotic citizens on: August 11, 2023, 09:22:38 PM
there is absolutely nothing wrong in critizing your leader. criticism is part of democracy but when you call your country a zoo and all sorts of names and regret being a citizen, you have crossed the redline.
I also have no problem with some people's vituperation and hate over there country but to suddenly decide to serve the same country you hate is hypocrisy of the highest order. and such people will have nothing to offer.they want to make use of the government to gain there own personal subscription, if appointed at the end. Because there are enemies of the country.

What brought this on? Is there a particular event that you are referring to with this statement? The thing that immediate comes to mind is internet censorship, which has recently been embraced by the Canadian government. Immediately I wonder what they are trying to hide. The wildfire conspiracy? The covid hoax? Who knows… I just know it’s wrong and should be criticized.
2604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin F*cking ETF on: August 11, 2023, 09:09:12 PM
The only explanation that truly makes any sense to me when looking at the situation from a regulator’s perspective is that they are aware of the mtgox bankruptcy mess and in order to reduce volatility both to the upside and downside, they are trying to time the mtgox distribution and ETF approvals in order for them to cancel each others’ effects to some degree.
2605  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $120k next year - by Robert Kiyosaki on: August 11, 2023, 09:07:27 PM
Trusting myself to make every decision in investing is very good I think, because indeed every prediction by several experts has a different view and so does the realization, it is very uncertain.
Regarding the price of Bitcoin which will reach 120k in the next year, there is nothing wrong with that prediction, because it is very optimistic that it can predict that, but again we all have different views.
Personally I am optimistic that the price of Bitcoin will rise but not significantly so that it can reach 120k in a short time.
When experts write bitcoin predictions it will be a different view, because some people see him as an influential person so there is a reason why many people follow him including in the crypto news media.
There is nothing wrong anyone can write the price of bitcoin according to their beliefs where bitcoin will go next year after Halving, when you already have a bitcoin price target it means there is already bitcoin in your wallet.
It will definitely go up, I still don't know when this upward recovery will occur, I think now we have to wait for the Halving first.

Regardless there is no basis for the prediction so it is still a guess.  I do not think that Bitcoin will reach 120k next year, if it is 2025, probably it has a possibility to happen because Bitcoin had enough momentum due to halving and possible FOMO that will exist when the price starting to surge.  I also think that the time is too short for Bitcoin to hit that $120k at the end of the 2024.  Even though Bitcoin halving is a huge catalyst for Bitcoin uptrend, it still needs to build up momentum and I believe it will take some months before the Bitcoin price starts going crazy.

Yes, everything is based on prediction and speculation and guesses. And with that, we don't know what will be the price till we are actually there. I still remember:

2017- there were speculation that we might go to $50k after reaching almost $20k that December
2021 - S2F model predicts $100k, and the prediction is almost perfect when we reach $69k that November

But we all know from those predictions that it didn't happen, no $50k after 2017, on the contrary it was a bear market. $100k was almost there, but after reaching $69k, it was the all time high for that bull run and no 6 digits in December.

I think the S2F model predicted the $20K run in 2017 pretty well. It made me a believer and was my go to in order to tell people my thoughts on the fractal price movement every four years. I also think it would have been accurate in 2021 if it were not for FTX stealing everyone’s money meant for BTC and dumping it into Solana and other shitcoins. That means 2025 could be the mother of all rallies, as we haven’t had a peak manipulated by fraud like in 2021 before.
2606  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin ever be 20k again? Why or Why not? on: August 11, 2023, 09:04:48 PM
If you’re comparing charts to previous cycles then there is typically one more large correction before blast off. This could happen anytime in the next 10 months. It could be from some news event people overreact to, or more likely to me is that it could result from profit taking after the halving event. I urge people to strongly buy if that does happen.
2607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2023, 09:00:52 PM
Waiting for the god damn mempool again

I always overpay

But it doesn't matter, bitcoin does what it wants

A while ago, someone was making a metaphor for blocks being mined like waiting for a drink at the bar

Its more like waiting for your number to be rolled on a 6-sided dice

Statistically, each number should come up 1 out of every 6 rolls

But in reality you could be waiting a long ass time for your number to come up.

Just checked and my FF buy in still hasn't hit.

...

you quoted all that, didnt even resize the image.. welcome to ignore, you finally did it

We don’t like Warren buffet in these parts  Cheesy

He was correct on this one though.

Yes. Derivatives are time bombs and everyone knows that, but people working in the financial industry have to do something to justify their payouts and earn bonuses. FTX was an example of what happens when people start blindly valuing financial instruments. It’s great until everyone loses everything. Bottom line is anything that puts more hands in the pot is going to have lower returns than holding an asset directly.
2608  Economy / Speculation / Re: Volatility and its effect on: August 11, 2023, 08:58:19 PM
Volatility doesn’t matter so much if you have a long time frame and aren’t worried about day to day movements. The news agencies, exchanges, traders, all benefit from volatility. They want you hanging on every piece of news and trading every event to create volatility. News outlets benefit from advertising, exchanges benefit from trading fees, traders get more opportunities, and the suckers that fund it all are traders seeking a quick buck.
2609  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Marjorie Taylor Greene: FBI Holds 2 More Informant Files on Biden Business... on: August 11, 2023, 08:56:02 PM
I’m not sure what the end result will be for proving that our government is this corrupt, but hopefully it at least starts to open people’s eyes. These lifelong politicians that sellout our country to make millions have got to start having some consequences. The fact that Nancy Pelosi isn’t in jail is all you need to know about the regulators.
2610  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Demands All Jan 6 Detainees Be Released From Prison After Tucker Carlson.. on: August 11, 2023, 08:54:03 PM
It is pretty crazy that Trump urged people to be peaceful, asked the government to send the national guard to keep things orderly, yet he’s being threatened with jail for his actions. Meanwhile the government planted agents in the crowd to start a riot and Democrat politicians denied additional forces to keep the peace, yet it is Trump that the country is being told did bad. We are living in bizarro world.
2611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Price in Respect of News on: August 11, 2023, 07:58:10 PM
There's more to say and discuss on how the influence of news could alter the market price for bitcoin even though this may not be much felt but the impact of news has its own little way of contributing to the bitcoin market price,
The news coupled with other events have effect on the market, they fall under fundamentals and what you will analyze fundamentally if you trade cryptocurrency. The nature of the news can influence people's action in certain ways. A positive news about bitcoin will encourage people to buy, while bad news concerning bitcoin will make people who have bitcoins want to sell, or reduce the demand for bitcoins which then affects the price. The news influences the price of bitcoins.

I think a majority of crypto news events are actually non-events that traders utilize to try and move the market one way or another with their trades. Traders need volatility and the news is where they go to get it. If you have a long term time preference though, the only news you should care about are major changes to regulation (ETF approvals) or the halving event. Everything else is mostly noise.
2612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 11, 2023, 07:56:02 PM

Elopn twitted today that the fight will be in Rome and not with UFC lol https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1689963696703848449
Okay, so they are serious after all. So it might really happen unless he is just trolling about that ancient arena of the gladiators. But yep he is promoting Meta and X.

Elon must have been banking on his height like he could really fight in this sport. This is gonna be a money-making business for them. Funny Dana White was scratched out after making the hype.

It seems like Elon is definitely serious. He’s also gone out of his way to say the UFC will not be involved. I agree that Elon and Mark don’t need a fight promoter for this. Doing the fight in Rome is crazy. I’m beginning to believe it might actually still happen. You gotta give it to Elon… This is going to be one of the most talked about fights between two humans in history.
2613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 11, 2023, 07:54:06 PM
Austin Reaves did an interview with the Nelk boys on their podcast and it was a good introduction to him and his personality. It seems like he’s got his head screwed on straight and he cleared the air about having never met Taylor Swift. If you like Austin and want to see him in a relaxed environment, I’d recommend searching out this interview on YouTube.
2614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS) In Gambling on: August 11, 2023, 07:52:30 PM
This is very interesting. Thank you for posting. I’ve never heard of sudden wealth syndrome before so I find it fascinating. I’m not one for labeling everything a syndrome or making assumptions about why people’s behavior changes on a large scale, but it is fascinating to read about how money can negatively effect certain individuals.
2615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we rely on prediction? on: August 10, 2023, 11:01:37 PM
When it’s all over I think whether you were successful or not in whatever you are attempting to do, the most important thing will be that you followed your own predictions. If you follow someone else’s predictions and they turn out to be wrong, you will have anger towards them. If you follow yourself and fail, you can at least know you did what you believed was right.
2616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is centralized, will it still have value ? on: August 10, 2023, 10:59:54 PM
What is your definition of becoming centralized? Are you talking about all the coins being in the hands of large investment firms, or the mining network being controlled by a single company or country? Maybe you’re talking about the development team being in the pocket of a single company? In all of these scenarios, Bitcoin is setup to resist, but I’m sure I’d that failed then it’s value would suffer.
2617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: August 10, 2023, 10:57:42 PM
It’s too bad Andrew Wiggins isn’t on the Canadian team. They could use him.

I haven’t looked at the odds on this but you have to assume that the United States pulls out a win in the Finals right? From what I’ve been hearing about Kerr and his utilization of small ball to create matchup nightmares for the other teams it seems like they’re expecting the USA to be a lock.
2618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Adam Back's Bullish Bet on: August 10, 2023, 06:07:09 AM
I read about this earlier in the week. I assumed it was a joke because 1 million sats is $300 currently and if Bitcoin goes to $100000 then it will be $1000.

I think many here assumed it was more of like a $1M bet. So this doesn’t really show much confidence. It’s like betting $1 that Bitcoin will go to $1M next month. Either way was a fun thread to read and was very well engaged.

Ya, I’m sure everyone figured it was at least a 1 BTC bet. That’s why the whole situation reeks of cheap marketing. Imagine how much money he would make if BTC went to $100,000…  Things like this make me cringe. Bitcoin shouldn’t need fake promotion to be successful. This is the sort of thing you usually see at market tops.
2619  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Climate Activists are Silent on Polar Bears Because their Doom-Mongering Blew Up on: August 10, 2023, 01:22:10 AM
I don’t know about this one… I’m definitely of the belief that not having any ice to stand on is bad for polar bear populations. Even if they can survive, certainly they’re over exposed to predators like orcas and falling victim to exhaustion and drowning. Maybe I’m misinformed, but I think polar bears are likely to become extinct in the next 100 years.
2620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: August 10, 2023, 01:18:44 AM
I’m starting to have my doubts that Biden will even run again. It’s clear he can be nowhere near any sort of debate. I think everyone is well aware he isn’t mentally competent to be the President of the United States. Even if he wasn’t accepting bribes, I don’t think any sane person could feel good about voting for him. With a close eye on the next election, I don’t think he has a chance.
