2701  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please take action on moonyjope aka Palinca89 (steamproject) Scammer Fake Guy on: December 07, 2022, 10:22:11 AM
Here are the evidences/proofs (which 100% shows steamproject aka Scalapota2@gmail.com aka Palnica89 is moonyjope)
1. https://i.imgur.com/LQ1zNqE.png
I am not sure if I am missing something here, but do you have any proof that moonyjope use that Scalapota2@gmail.com email  address, as that would be a solid proof of connection. From what i can see, you haven't provided that.

Today I wasted my whole day to dig out the evidences against this shitty person. I effort a lot and finally I got evidences, which should be enough to throw him into hell.
I don't think that evidence you provided is strong enough (even though I think that there is a good chance its the same person), but you can report your findings in [Report] Ban Evasion [Requesting Admin/mod to check those and ban] and if mods think that your evidence is good enough, he will get banned.
2702  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Stax (Ledger's latest hardware wallet) on: December 06, 2022, 02:58:10 PM
I wish they hired capable devs (or at least assigned enough manpower) to finally sort out their Ledger Live application, instead focusing on the hardware wallet exterior. But I guess this brings more money and that's what matters in the end.
2703  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please take action on moonyjope aka Palinca89 (steamproject) Scammer Fake Guy on: December 06, 2022, 02:39:25 PM
Sir, I am really big upset, moonyjope is very clever person, he surely be using VPN obviously different IP from his selling thread, Anyway, like you said, as a seller I will have to live with those many moonyjopes.
Thanks foryour kind words.
Scammers here don't even have to use VPN as forum staff extremely rarely checks that, so that part is really irrelevant. In order to prove that two accounts are connected you have to provide a little bit more evidence, show how their posting style is the same (that is flimy evidence though), use of same social media accounts etc. I found one interesting coincidence between moonyjope and steamproject and that is that both of those accounts were active in Romanian local board.

My experience here made me not to really believe in coincidence so there might be something in your claim and its the previously banned member that showed up with new alt account but I am not sure that it is enough evidence of ban evading.
2704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will not become the world currency. on: December 06, 2022, 02:21:53 PM
After I figured it out, I no longer expect Bitcoin to be recognized by the state, and it doesn't need to be.
But Bitcoin is already legalized as a legal tender in at least two countries (El Salvador and Central African Republic) so it already achieved that (implementation is questionable though).

So I don't think Bitcoin is going to become a fiat currency.
It was never Bitcoin's creator intention anyway, but instead to give us the alternative. If by "becoming fiat currency" mean replacing fiat, Bitcoin has its use even without achieving that (which is imho unrealistic anyway) and majority of bitcoiners are fine with that.
2705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Governments will issue "stablecoins" on existing main stream blockchains on: December 06, 2022, 02:08:48 PM
it is unlikely that central banks will launch their digital currency on a blockchain platform because they need complete control over their cryptocurrency and that cannot be achieved if they use blockchain technology.
Of course they can, as long as they control the chain. For example, the way CZ controls Binance Smart Chain the government could control their own. Just because there is a blockchain, doesn't mean that it can't be controlled by one entity.

@OP No, governments won't issue stablecoins on existing main stream blockchains. Well, not unless they take control over it. After all, they won't even issue stablecoins but CBDC instead.
2706  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: binance pao? on: December 06, 2022, 12:34:37 PM

2707  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please take action on moonyjope aka Palinca89 (steamproject) Scammer Fake Guy on: December 06, 2022, 11:06:00 AM
I have been maintaining my selling thread on Bitcointalk since from 2019 with 100% positive feedback vouches from members,
moonyjope demolish my reputation without any reason, proof/evidence, so due to these bad words and statements from him, my all efforts went into the vein, to sustain and maintained my credibility on the Bitcointalk as a seller or member.
Newbie account like moonyjope with no reputation accusing you of scam without providing any evidence can hardly ruin anyone's reputation. I can understand that you are upset, but if you are a legit seller this shouldn't bother you much as so far its nothing but a piss in the wind. About his connections to the other accounts, you will have to provide more evidence for that before we (well at least I)  can take any action.

Just so you know, you shouldn't expect any action taken from forum staff as they usually don't meddle into stuff like this; since scams are not moderated, same goes for scam accusations against someone. As a seller here you will just have to live with those.

2708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what are the disadvantages of paper wallet on: December 06, 2022, 09:43:03 AM
Also, it is not going to be easy if you're going to have a lot of transactions, you could just use web wallets or something like coinbase when you just want to have fun and wanted to buy some cryptocurrency, I guess these paper wallets is just for people that are very careful on their investment the one that is going to buy put it in the paper wallet and forget about it.
Aren't web wallets the worst possible option (on top of not owning key) if you are having a lot of transactions as you usually can't manually adjust the fee, meaning you will overpay?

Most are saying that if you hold big amount BTC you choose paper wallet. what is the reason behind that?
Honestly I didn't hear people saying that and I got impression that people rather use hardware wallets in that case. Paper wallet is fine if you wanna store your bitcoin safely and for some reason can't or don't wanna invest in hardware wallet.

About biggest disadvantage, beside obvious one (easy to destroy/loose, not practical when you want to send bitcoin) I would also say that paper wallet is only safe if its done in a proper way and taken all precautions, and that's something that many fail at.
2709  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin adoption, the forum and past two bear markets on: December 06, 2022, 09:24:09 AM
However, it is not enough if we only look at that tip of iceberg. Checking further with total available spots for each campaign and total active campaigns, you can see the more significant increases of 2022 campaigns compare to 2019 campaigns.
Yep, your overview just confirmed what was obvious for some time, that it was never easier to get into a signature campaign than it is now (well, from 2019 when I joined the first one). I remember back in 2019 when I was applying for signature campaigns that competition was fierce and even a quality members had issues joining any decent paying campaign (back then $50 was considered good). Now situation is diametrically opposite and even a shitposter can get into a decent campaign, which is combination of increased amount of campaigns and decreased amount of active members.

I know its not the topic of this thread (and it was before my time here, that's why I am asking) but what was the situation during last bull market regarding signature campaigns? Was it significantly better than it was during bear?
2710  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash must be king, Giorgia Meloni tells shoppers on: December 06, 2022, 08:56:48 AM
Some countries are just bad at digitalizing, and you often need cash there to get by.
It is not about digitalisation, its about people's mentality and what they are used to. Japan is one of the leading countries when it comes to use of cash, and its hard to say that they prefer to use cash due lack infrastructure. On the other hand, leading countries when it comes to sue of cards are Scandinavian countries, whose people are known for their blind obedience and trust in government.

Using cash is less hygienic, riskier (getting a person's cash is easier than using a stolen plastic card), more prone to financial crimes (cash can be counterfeit and real cash can be easily used for illegal purposes because no ID is required), less convenient (you have to count and carry it, cashiers have to count what to give you in return).
And I gladly accept all those cons, just so government doesn't know every single thing I buy. The same way I accepts risk of dealing with Bitcoin and being my own bank.
2711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should be my fear? on: December 06, 2022, 08:36:28 AM
Newbies I talked to about Bitcoin often can't wrap their head about the fact that they are responsible for their own money, that no one will hold their hand and if something bad happens they usually have no one else to blame other than themselves. Being your own bank is not for anyone, people often don't want that responsibility and they don't care so much about freedom like they do feeling of being safe (even though its often false.
sense of safety).

What I would suggest you to overcome those fears is to get a little bit of bitcoin, download non custodial open source wallet (preferably Electrum) and play a little bit with it, send bitcoin from one address to other to get yourself familiar with how things work. Once you passed that initial fear of loosing bitcoin if you send it to a wrong address, you can move on start investing as planned and get yourself hardware wallet (I sleep much better since I store my bitcoin on one of those things).
2712  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Let's not be too judgemental about CZ (Binance) on: December 06, 2022, 08:29:58 AM
I believe that the Lunac and FTX incidents didn't just happen, there is some kinds of conspiracy involved. Although business do fail if mismanaged. But in the alleged conspiracy I have always imagined CZ in the picture as the big fish and chief strategist.
Its easier to think (especially if you lost money in Luna/FTX) that there is some conspiracy involved rather than that it was just because of stupidity and greed of people in charge. And the more info comes out about the ways FTX operated, its more obvious that it was more their megalomania than anything else. CZ tweet and Coindesk article probably just speed things up but if they did a legit business and didn't mismanaged users fund, no FUD could touch them.

I consider him so in general terms, but in personal terms I consider him a smart guy who is always ahead of thr happenings in the crypto world. His empire is too large and he cannot be easily taken down. What makes him bleed will largely affect the whole crypto industry.
Problem is that even smart people (and its safe assume that CZ is a smart and capable guy) do stupid things that bring their companies down, not just in crypto but in general so no matter how big Binance is (and I often hear people saying for them that they are "too big to fail") they could still fail.
2713  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Grijači koji rudare bitcoine on: December 05, 2022, 12:42:31 PM

2714  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: post for aid on: December 05, 2022, 12:17:35 PM
This forum may indeed seem confusing for a newbie, especially to those who never visited any other forum in the past. With that being said, take your time to go through pinned messages both in Beginner & Help to learn dos and don'ts and Meta section and generally don't rush anywhere. Let all the info sink and when/if in doubt, simply ask and someone will answer.
2715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: More platforms will bite the dust? on: December 05, 2022, 11:03:10 AM
There are people in social media that have warned to be cautious with platforms that offer high APY and those platforms that have laid off employees from jobs in their companies.
While high APY is definitely a huge red flag even before everything that has happened in the last six months (are there even any platforms left that offer ~10% like Celsius did ?), I don't think that exchanges laying off people is something to worry about. It even makes sense as crypto businesses (and not just them) tend to hire/lay off based on the market conditions and since we are deep into bear market that may last for a couple years and you have to cut your expenses in order to survive.

Regarding your question in the title, I wouldn't be surprised if some platforms from that list you shared go under. Anyone that still has money on any of the platforms is simply asking for trouble.
2716  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance aml/kyc in the eu on: December 05, 2022, 08:23:35 AM
Disagree.  There is still a lot to give.  I made big privacy mistakes before yet here I am.  Does not mean I have to give every thing because I gave something once.  If I think something is an overreach, I retreat.
Of course you don't have to give everything. As a matter of fact you don't have to give anything as long as you avoid CEX.

There are some Centralized Exchanges which still do not ask for Know Your Customer procedures.  Instead of depositing large amounts, why not proceed differently.  Deposit small parts and withdraw after every trade.  If you want to trade $10,000 in branches of $1,000 each, it will take you 10 deposits, 10 trades and 10 withdrawals.  But if they crack down on your account, you lose only $1,000.
And for how long that's gonna work, trader depositing few thousands in smaller batches and then withdrawing even more, on the daily basis? My guess is not long before you get asked for KYC.

It is unfortunate.  But these are the modern regulations and laws and they may get worse over the next years.  All we can do is either comply or adapt our strategies to their measures.
If you wanna use all the CEX pro's, be ready to accept all the cons as the way things are developing , in a year or two it won't be possible to use any CEX without KYC. Small time traders may try to work around those regulations and try to avoid KYC but anyone dealing with bigger amounts (and I know few of those) will simply accept the reality.
2717  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Are my coins too safe? on: December 04, 2022, 04:33:09 PM
Will I mess up and lock myself out of my wallet eventually?
To ensure that doesn't happen, I would suggest you to make more than one copy of your seed phrase and preferably store it at another some secure location (other than the one you are living in) in case you have it.

Is the 24 word recovery seed all I need to store securely? Or do I need the wallet file as well? And do I also need to save my receiving addresses?
Seed phrase is enough. And there's no need to connect Trezor each time you receive Bitcoin when its more convenient to simply save the address instead. Well, at least that's what I am doing with my hardware wallet as I don't wanna go through hassle of getting it out of my secure place, then plugging it in etc every time I have to receive some Bitcoin.

Another thing to think about is contingency plan in case something happens to you, so Bitcoin you have don't go to waste.

2718  Other / Meta / Re: Incentivizing moderation reports with millimerits on: December 04, 2022, 04:17:50 PM
I saw a post by Welsh saying that moderation reports have been in decline and that he misses the days when he woke up to hundreds of reports in his queue. It got me thinking of ways to jump-start it again.
The whole forum activity has been in decline for some time so no surprise that reports are in decline too. Another thing that might pad the stats are reports in altcoin section, which were very popular year ago (due Spambuster of the year award) and without it, majority of members don't have much incentive to report.

The steep carrot/stick ratio is to prevent would-be abusers from gaining any traction.
Make no mistake, whatever can be abused here will be abused, no matter how many reports they have to make in order to get one merit. All this would just burden the mods with extra work and in the end wouldn't really help removing the spam.

Imho, way more elegant solution to make people report more is to introduce some sort of badges for the most active reporters as that's what people asked for repeatedly.

2719  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam by MontPythonn !! on: December 04, 2022, 04:00:16 PM
Can you please make a proper scam report, preferably by using this scam report forum in which you will provide all available evidence (how exactly he scammed you, transaction hash, screenshot of messages etc) because we can't do much based on that one sentence that you wrote.

If this is the member that scammed you, why on earth you thought that it is a good idea to do a business with newbie account who already has several scam accusations?
2720  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake coingecko site please beware! on: December 03, 2022, 03:51:05 PM
For this phishing site, it's the connecting of wallets which is weird why they (scammer/hacker) designed it like that lol, coz most regular users of coingecko will probably notice why there is a connecting of wallet (metamask or something).
Thing is, their targets are not experienced Metamask/Coingecko users, but newbies who don't really know what they are doing so they might connect MM to Coingecko and approve transaction which will result in money gone. Hell, its pretty common to hear newbies even entering seed phrase in similar scam attempt.

But in reality, even veteran crypto users can make a mistake, all that you need is not paying attention for a few seconds and that's it. I know a guy who lost ~100k by connecting Metamask to a phishing site, and this guy has been in crypto since like 2014, so he was far from a newbie. But, he was in a hurry and wanted to do something quick before going out and ended up losing big chunk of his portfolio.
