1741  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: March 31, 2023, 07:38:08 AM
We don't know if they really are working to be friendly with regulators since that's what CZ always want to emphasize but we may never know what will happen and I think they are working on it, it could be catastrophic if they wouldn't be able to. I'd say CZ's Binance was way more transparent (maybe) compare to SBF that still says not guilty on frauds and conspiracy, a truly pathetic dude.
We still have no idea what CZ is a actually doing behind the closed door (at least not the most shady stuff). Sure, he doesn't seem as reckless and cocky as SBF but just a six months ago Sam was seen as 2nd coming of Christ by a large portion of crypto community and guy who will save crypto industry and we can see how that ended.
1742  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Beaxy exchange closed by SEC on: March 31, 2023, 05:56:14 AM
For people who read all of these news and still use centralized exchanges as their main custody for BTC, i don't know what they are still thinking, is it until someone, possibly one hiding in cayman island gambles away their money that they would learn.
If fall of MtGox and FTX didn't teach anyone anything, so won't fall of a small and unknown exchange like Beaxy. I know some people that lost money in FTX and Celsius and they are still storing large amount of money on Binance so what else to say. At least in Beaxy case people will have time to actually withdraw their money (or at least that's what they say).

If I'm not mistaken, they even imitated the early strategy of Binance by giving away a Lamborghini. I cannot remember exactly how things have turned awry but it was indeed accused of being a scam.
Binance was giving away Lamborghini? Lol I didn't know that. Those marketing "techniques" are usually reserved for the worst possible ponzi scams.
1743  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: March 30, 2023, 05:24:39 PM

I hope I get forgiven for this act as this wasn't really intentional.
Relax buddy, I don't think that you will get perma banned for something like this (and I don't think that you should if this was the only time you forgot to include reference). Few years ago maybe, but lately mods became more lenient to similar cases so chances for you bearing any consequence are slim to none. Then again, that's just my opinion.

By the way, when you are copy/pasting someone else's text, its not enough (at least it shoulnd't be) to just share reference link at the bottom as you should also make a clear difference your own words, and the one that you copied. Just sharing sharing reference link is enough not to get banned, but its a bad posting style.
1744  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: March 30, 2023, 04:50:03 PM
I don't know why an Obari user is plagiarizing but he seems to be copying and pasting on other articles on purpose.
Probably trying to appear more knowledgeable than he is and pick few merits while doing so.

Doesn't he understand that this is bad work and zero tolerance?
Of course he understands, just yesterday he was bullshitting to some newbie how plagiarism is bad and importance of proper referencing etc.

Please take things easy on yourself and don't make it seem you have lots of rules to follow as here is more like a community, hence you should be free and busy simply avoid plagiarism and make sure you reference every work not written originally by you
1745  Other / Meta / Re: What will happen tomorrow? on: March 30, 2023, 09:20:47 AM
Doesn't this type of topic where people are trying to guess what will happen on April 1st kinda ruins the experience? Imho, better just wait and see what theymos prepared than speculate about it.
1746  Economy / Exchanges / Beaxy exchange closed by SEC on: March 30, 2023, 07:50:23 AM
As the title says, another exchange has been closed and this time its Beaxy. I can't say I heard about them before but allegedly they have been around since 2017 and are (were) based in the Unites States. If anyone has any money there, you have 30 days to withdraw it says SEC.

Crypto trading platform Beaxy has officially closed its doors as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged the company and its founder, Artak Hamazaspyan. with operating an unregistered exchange and brokerage, the agency said Wednesday in a statement.

The SEC also accused Beaxy Digital Ltd. of illegally raising $8 million in the offering of an unregistered security with its BXY token. The agency additionally noted Hamazaspyan “misappropriated at least $900,000 for personal use, including gambling.”

Windy Inc. took over the platform in 2019 after the founder misappropriated money, according to the SEC, and managers Nicholas Murphy and Randolph Bay Abbott maintained Beaxy for trading crypto assets “that were offered and sold as securities,” the SEC said. So the agency is also accusing them of violating securities law by operating an unregistered exchange, broker and clearing agency, though the platform was described as defunct in another SEC case last year.

Tongue
1748  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Participating in Mixer Signature Campaign on: March 29, 2023, 05:23:37 PM
theymos asked this for obvious reasons. What I'm curious about is whether any law enforcement was there behind the decision.
This is purely my speculation, but I think its more about being careful in case government knocks on the door rather than already getting some warning because if there was something like that it would be logical to ban mixer signature campaigns alltogether and not just restrict it to forum staff.
1749  Economy / Gambling / Re: Livecasino.io - 🔥 up to 20% cashback🔥up to 20% rakeback 🚨 instant withdrawals on: March 29, 2023, 05:05:15 PM
So, today I played on Livecasino for the first time using those 125 free spins I got via signature campaign and playing Wanted Dead or a Wild game.

For the first ~70 spins I got maybe 40 cents back, and then I ask my wife to do some spins, hoping that she will be more lucky than me. She was more lucky, managed to get into some sort of free 10 rounds bonus (can't remmber how is it called exactly) and in the end I end up with a little bit over $6 dollars so I think that next time I'll let her do all the spins. 1750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fellow Beginners Should Know This on: March 29, 2023, 03:33:48 PM
It's nice to see that a newbie understands the basic and important rules on how to be a good member of Bitcointalk,
You do understand that's his not his first account and this topic is nothing but a merit fishing attempt and a pretty bad one (he managed to scoop one from you though)? I mean, where did you see that a genuine newbie who just created account day ago gives other newbies advices on what to do on forum?

1751  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: March 29, 2023, 06:04:34 AM
Moze link na to sa staff memberima i mixerima? Bacio sam pogled u metu ali to nije moj dio foruma, tamo vidim samo uobičajena prepucavanja i unban requeste.
Bas sam i ja htio pitati isto kad sam sinoc vidio post.

Edit: Turkey 0-2 Croatia  Smiley

We are incredibly lucky to have that kind of lead considering how we played the first half. Basically no one except Kovacic showed up tonight and is playing on their level while Brozovic has been the worst player on the pitch, not playing for Inter regularly is definitely showing.

Still, I'll take this lead over us playing great and loosing.  Cheesy
1753  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: March 28, 2023, 02:01:18 PM
Charges against SBF keep piling up as now he has been accused of "conspiring to violate anti-bribery provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act." as he allegedly transfered at least $40 millions to Chinese government officials. I am not a lawyer of anything of that sorts, but that sounds damn serious to me.

NEW YORK, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. prosecutors on Tuesday unveiled a new indictment against Sam Bankman-Fried, charging the founder of now-bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange with conspiring to violate anti-bribery provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan accused Bankman-Fried of directing the transfer of at least $40 million of cryptocurrency to benefit Chinese government officials.

They said Bankman-Fried directed the bribe in order to unfreeze accounts belonging to his hedge fund, Alameda Research, that Chinese authorities had frozen. The accounts held more than $1 billion of cryptocurrency, U.S. prosecutors said.

That said, it took me way longer than I expected to come to a conclusion on certain amount of questions, and that's with knowing my opponent, the toughest question had to the Man United XI, knowing what I know about the current players available, and my perceived Ten Haag's preference as a coach too literally didn't help matters.
Same here, it took me quite some time to answer that question. Even though I watch EPL regularly, I seriously dislike Man Utd and everything related to that club (trauma goes all the way back to 1999 CL final lol) and very rarely watch any of their games so I had to do some serious research to figure out their possible starting 11 vs Newcastle.

I can imagine how more interesting all this will get when I actually start playing against someone. Smiley
1755  Other / Archival / Re: Has the forum become more loyal? on: March 28, 2023, 07:15:55 AM
Am I the only one who finds using word "loyal" in this context a bit weird? Shouldn't "lenient" or "forgiving" be more appropriate?

Signature ban? Isn’t that something that comes after a ban appeal? Since I have been a member of this forum I haven’t seen a case of signature ban.
There were in the past, but that's exactly the point of OP, why forum stopped using that measure.

Plagiarism is usually committed by newbie and member accounts, they can’t wear signature avatar so I don’t think a signature ban would be very effective in this sense. That’s why the perma ban is more popular.
Signature ban makes way more sense than perma ban (keep in mind that some plagiarists still deserve perma ban) but since latter was more convenient and there was no lack of new members, admins didn't think twice about banning someone over a copied sentence. Situation changed now, forum activity has been decreasing so they took different approach. Or they simply realized that the old way of dealing with that was too harsh.

It could be that there are more good posters coming into the forum.
Lol no.
1756  Economy / Reputation / Re: I need help to investigate Blitzboy and need DT members to tag him. on: March 28, 2023, 06:06:08 AM
My hesitancy in tagging BitMaxz now lies in the fact that the Blitzboy account seems to have been transferred in Jan of this year as it woke and changed passwords after a 1.5 year hiatus. There's a good chance the account has actually changed hands at least a couple of times because looking thru BitMaxz's posts he seems to be far more knowledgeable than whoever owns Blitzboy now or the previous owner, as well.
Good point, there is indeed a clear difference in posting between those two accounts.

I'm waiting to find out if Blitzboy should be banned or red tagged for AI posting. Not sure what the consensus is on that yet.
As I showed you in that other topic, several accounts already got banned for use of ChatGPT. The only difference is that Blitzboy is a high ranking account and banned ones were newbies and we know for some time that admins are less inclined to ban higher ranking accounts for one or two cases of plagiarism. Imho its a better approach than insta banning everyone who copied even a sentence (like they did in the past) as forum lost some good members that way, but there should be some punishment (e.g signature ban).
1757  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: March 28, 2023, 05:36:55 AM

Payouts and Positions:

10x Full Members - $3 in BTC per post. Max 25posts/week will be paid.
15x Sr. Members - $4 in BTC per post. Max 25 posts/week will be paid.
20x Hero/Legendary Members - $5 in BTC per post. Max 25 posts/week will be paid.

If you wear the Avatar you'll get $1 extra per post you make (up to $25/week).
1758  Other / Meta / Re: Indian local Board Issue on: March 27, 2023, 03:50:05 PM

@theymos should assign a new merit source on the local board, who is active and has been trying to make the board active. There should also be a dedicated moderator as this board is subjected to spam. I hope he checks this big issue if he wants members like us to make this board more engaging.
Instead of waiting for theymos to find you someone who would be a good merit source you should choose someone among yourselves who is active and shares merit regularly and tell him to make a merit source application.

The same thing should be done for getting your own moderator, but chances of that actually hapening are slim to none as our local board (Croatian) is way more active than yours and despite that we are waiting for years to get our own local mod again after Lauda got removed.

But I'm surprised that there have only been two matches between these countries in which Montenegro lost... They seem to be neighbours, but it's strange that they have such small stats...
Its no surprise that they didn't play agaisnt each other more often when you take into consideration fact that up until 2006 they were part of the same country (first Yugoslavia, then Serbia & Montenegro).

Even though Serbia is favorite here despite not so convincing win against Lithuania (2:0 looks good on paper but I wasn't impressed with their performace tbh) this game could go either way so I think I'm gonna avoid it.
1760  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism Vs Scam on: March 27, 2023, 09:49:41 AM
I think the moderators haven't decided how to deal with post generated by ChatGPT, but it's just because the content generated by ChatGPT has been exposed if some part was took from the other article. As been mentioned by @mprep here, so my assumptions if someone have created a post generated by ChatGPT and it's really looks like created by human, it's fine since no one able to investigate it.
Well, since @hilariousandco already banned at least two accounts due use of chatbot (1st case, 2nd case) I think that they pretty much decided what to do in those cases. Tricky part is to prove that someone actually used chatbot, but if you manage to do that I don't think that mods/admins will hesitate too much.

Yes, please do, though obviously they will need a little more verification so might not get handled straight away. It's probably going to get out of hand fast with these issues now. Personally I think it might be wise to look into disabling sigs on all new users/lower ranks until people have earned the right to have one through acquiring a large amount of merit.
