2781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think the price will DROP MORE? on: September 11, 2017, 01:18:11 PM
Hi,

Do you think the price will DROP MORE?
Today every big news website talking about the CHINA BAN.

- wall street journal and many others

What do tou think?

The price will still drop more the moment the media are still propagating the news of this ban or proposed ban and people are reacting to it. So, price will recover when any of the following happens:

1. The media have some thing else to talk about thereby new entrants can come in conveniently without having to be fearful about things,

2. Existing participants are conveniently carrying on their activities and assume the news is just one of those things that are bound to happen.

This is what I have been expecting to see around here since the controversy about the Chinese government and bitcoin wanting to see at least a Chinese to tell us the situation of things over there and to know the effect of such bans even in the country but from the response, it seems its the people outside China, are the ones mostly hit and even reacted negatively to the issue of this ban while the people who understood the attitude of government has come out to say this. @Op do well to update us on the forum on how far the implementation of whether its a rumor or grapevine on the issue of this ban that has ravage the crypto-space.

2784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governments should rather profit from Bitcoin on: September 11, 2017, 10:00:29 AM
We have seen this latest news --> https://www.rt.com/business/401183-russia-power-plant-crypto-mining/ and we also know

the Chinese are doing something similar to subsidize their local Bitcoin miners, by selling surplus power to them. Why has

other countries with surplus energy, not capitalized on this?

Countries with surplus electricity --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_exports

Why do they not invest in some mining farms to compete with the Chinese? The USA can manufacture ASIC's in Silicon Valley

and go head-to-head with the Chinese ASIC manufacturers.

I cannot see how it can be less profitable than selling your surplus energy at much lower rates to neighbouring countries.  Roll Eyes

One reason that I know why the Chinese government has been in the news lately and at the same time exercising their influence over bitcoin is because they have taken their time to really understand how it works, identify its strength as well as weakness in which they are exploiting. So, in other for countries to really allocate more power as you have said then profit from it, then they also must set in motion the process to having adequate knowledge on the matter that concerns bitcoin. Over here, there are situations of government making power excessive for manufacturing industries because they know the impact of what they contribute to the economy even at the expense of others who needs the power. If only governments can understand the  potential that investments in bitcoin have to offer, I am sure they will take it up.
2785  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: IT iS SCAM weimixer.com on: September 11, 2017, 08:37:36 AM
Its unfortunate that service like this that is coming new in the case of ETH colud turn out to be scam. There was this case earlier on where I had to point out the delay in responding but it was resolved one way that makes it looks like everything is legit and I have been keeping an eye on the service but unfortunately, it seems that was just an eye service in a way to attract the big players. I wonder how people could think that the only way to make money is to rip others of their resources?

This service had the potential to even be a trailblazer in ETH mixing but it appears they have thrown that into the winds and the most annoying is that, there nothing that can be done to retrieve the money back.

@Op can you give update on the matter?.
2786  Economy / Services / Re: Let me promote your shitcoin like a professional on: September 11, 2017, 08:05:14 AM
You have made a nice write up and equally convincing that someone should patronise you but truth be told that I wont patronise you if I have a coin simply because you have no regard for whatever coin you planned promoting. Calling your prospective client 'shit coin' is enough to put someone off and even proclaiming that they would fail eventually without you means they dont have any dream or objective in the first instance. Also, targeting only 'shit coin' means that profitable and those that have lived up to expectations does not have any business with you.

I think there are other better ways of passing your message across without having to demean the name you are intending to promote and if you promote any coin, then by default that a 'shit coin' that have no future. Good luck in achieving that.
2787  Economy / Speculation / Re: China banned bitcoin: 2013 VS 2017. market maturity? on: September 11, 2017, 05:30:55 AM
For the fact that price can be swayed by news of this nature despite the confidence that have been garnered over the years shows some level of weakness that has not been dealt with. But at the same time, bitcoin has approached some high level maturity to have only taken a retreat rather than a dip that would have been envisaged by those promoters of such news for their own selfish needs or interest. Either way, this cannot be said to be a repeat of the past because with this, there is hope that sooner or later, bitcoin will be immune to news such as this.
2788  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Nexchange.io launches with a full API and free trading during September on: September 10, 2017, 06:54:51 PM
I went through the website and I must say you have a nice interface and even very mobile friendly platform at that. But the issue I saw was that, there is no way to create an account in other to really have a feel of the website without placing an order. I think that should be looked into in other to see the charts and all others. Also, there are few coins one can convert to there. Hopefully to see several added in the coming days.

Another thing to commend is the transparency you boast of which I see no one is hiding behind anonymity in the team but my concern is.

1. What's your site concern about KYC considering the various eye brows such issue have generated in the industry?

2. What are your procedure to adding a new coin to the list of what you already have?
2789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Real Reason China Banned Exchanges? Cryptocurrency is a Ponzi Scheme on: September 10, 2017, 11:47:08 AM
the reason china is cracking down is because they're determined to retain control of their population's money. they ended bitcoin's use as a currency in 2014 just as they did for qq coin and others in the past.

anyone throwing the word ponzi around is a worthless moron.

This is something I equally share and I must say after I have read the entire episode of what Op has said, the last part of the statement shows that he is not being objective because if not because of the alleged amount stolen from him, then he will be good with everything that is going on and would equally be counting his blessing about entering the bitcoin industry so early. Or what other explanation would he give to a 17k worth of bitcoin turning into over 250k worth in short period of time. He also went further to post his address to show he still believes in bitcoin and Roger that's another height of insinceirty in what he is preaching.
2790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better that China just gets out of Bitcoin? on: September 09, 2017, 01:07:39 PM
Bitcoin was sailing along nicely yesterday and apart from the usual technical issues that accompany Bitcoin and other alts there was generally a positive outlook for Bitcoin. Suddenly the markets went crazy when the rumors came out that China would ban Exchanges from trading in Bitcoin. Personally I am getting fed up with China news having such a big influence on Bitcoin. Nobody knows now for the next few days now what is likely to happen and whether Bitcoin will fall hard should this rumor turn out to be true. What will be the result? - a significant fall followed by longer term stability perhaps. Either way we can't keep having this uncertainty if Bitcoin is going to get acceptance in the general community.

The influence of Chinese government cannot be under estimated and I would even wish they hands off everything at once rather than going back and forth over their position on what to do with bitcoin so we witness a crash which is sure to happen because of that decision but we will grow again and in our own pace and that will be sustainable to a large extent.
2791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost around 5BTC in 2013... Time to start again on: September 09, 2017, 12:42:10 PM
So back in 2012 / 2013 I was quite involved with the Crypto scene, and invested in a mining rig (good old days!) After around a year or so, I managed to mine LTC, trade BTC etc and had somewhere in the region of 5BTC. As the prices all started to plummet, I turned the rig to a desktop computer and stupidly left all of my coins in Cryptsy. Easily done for someone who understood the basic fundamentals of the Crypto world, but not all of the security to go with it.

I managed to recover about 0.2BTC from old wallets etc, and although kicking myself that I could have a life changing amount of money, I've come to a conclusion that I just need to build a bridge and start again!

My question to you all is have you ever experienced anything like this? How did you find the motivation to start again? And what do you think are the best ways nowadays (as i'm 4 years out of touch) at getting back to that milestone of 1BTC in my wallet?

Thanks,

Going over what happened in the past and whinning over it wont solve any issue and for someone like you, I dont think its going to be too difficult to get back on your feet due to the fact that you have been very much involved before and the old ways of making btc, have nit really change from the past years so what I will advise is to go back to the drawing board and identify where you can feature in the scheme of things and trading to me might be your best option at this time.
2792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi is Back! Is Craig Wright an Imposter or Brilliant Marketer? on: September 08, 2017, 07:12:42 PM
Has anyone else seen this presentation that Craig Wright recently gave? I don't know if the guy is really Satoshi Nakamoto, but I have to admit that he does know just a 'little' about bitcoin and blockchain technology. If nothing else, the talk is very interesting and his vision for Bitcoin is truley pretty awesome. He says that Bitcoin is much more than currency... and will one day power and handle ALL data transactions for every individual on the planet - and it will all be accessible anytime/any place via the blockchain. Pretty amazing.

Here's his Preso for those interested:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zssu63rKT0Y

Would love to know your thoughts on this AFTER you watch the video. We can't ignore this guy forever....

He might have facts but that does not mean we should believe him and that's exactly what Craig is missing in his quest to be the Satoshi Nakomoto and I personally would not give regard for such an individual because there is no point coming out now to claim you are someone when its rosy what I expect is that he should just log in into Satoshi's account on the forum and put everything to rest.
2793  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is it legal to sell bitcoin for cash ? on: September 08, 2017, 12:17:58 PM
I was thinking of selling my bitcoins for cash. Is it perfectly legal to do so ? Amount is close to 3-4K.

Thanks for reading.

Like the earlier poster, depending on the his free the financial system of the country is configured. Over here, if I want to engage in such activity, all I need is to build a website with a gateway to a bank account and with that anyone can log in, make order and either sell or buy and I won't be disturbed by any agency of violating the rule and that's how our system is so flexible and clients don't really bother much on the legality only if their needs are met
2794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Profits and the Bubbles on: September 08, 2017, 11:28:24 AM
According to my estimates, more than majority of us here in the Bitcoin community are here mainly for the possible profits we can gain out of its continuing growth. We are speculating that Bitcoin will continue on its rise for years to come. fortunately, Bitcoin has been a very good "investment" vehicle so far as we experience its astronomical rise.

Despite the many challenges thrown its way, Bitcoin has proven to be a very resilient and fantastic currency and asset. Right now, it is attracting big groups of investors with huge money on their pockets and this can mean more growth especially in 2018.

On the other hand, we are seeing so many warnings that Bitcoin is the best candidate for a bubble that can soon pop leaving many holders with empty bags. While being optimistic with Bitcoin, we are not closing our eyes to different gloomy possibilities as it is always good to be aware and be ready.

Are you mainly here for the profits?

You have made a valid exposure which quite a number of people are guilty of. Although bitcoin has won so many battles in the onslaught against it and several are still coming whether we like it or not. The intention that it continues to rise is just by default anybody who puts money somewhere will always want but not always the case as there are crashes here and there but we are still standing which means that there is more to the profit quest. What I see that could cause the burst is when there is a major challenge that the centre could no longer hold but at it is now, that day is not near.
2795  Economy / Economics / Re: Is America a failed nation? on: September 08, 2017, 10:30:34 AM
If everybody is saying the country is a failed state or a dead one, then every other countries in the world must have been buried then. I am not a citizen of the united states but when it comes to checking the excesses of other sates, American is at the forefront not that they are saints but if you consider the intricacies of other countries in some aspects, then you realize that America is still standing tall in the face of several challenges.
2796  Economy / Services / Re: Help me find a job! (JR. MEMBER) on: September 08, 2017, 09:39:06 AM
You expect strangers to help you get a job/income on a Bitcoin website? Anyway just check out the signature campaign pages in the services section. However, your current attitude is not really a nice asset to you.

Signature campaigns might not be the best for someone who is rally looking for a job because being a junior member might not even fetch him that couple with his chances of entering a campaign. But if he should list the kind of services he can offer and how he can add value, then someone might be interested in hiring him regardless of his rank. I have read a thread of a newbie creating a nice signatures for campaigns which could bring in something of someone is interested in hiring him.
2797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you have some BTCs, why not have some Gold too? on: September 08, 2017, 08:34:29 AM
Although, I don't own any ouce of bit of gold currently but would like to hold one not because its better but because there is nothing wrong in diversification of investments. But the issue is that its probably a digital asset because I don't know if anyone have a tab of physical gold so there is no much difference between it and bitcoin after all.
2798  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: ICO vs crowdfunding on: September 07, 2017, 04:17:29 PM
Could someone explain to me how ICO's are different from crowdfunding? Why would it be regulated differently?

I quite agree that they are different but the issue if China not regulating crowd funding does not mean they  won't because looking at the report lay emphasis more on companies coming first time for funds and that's what ICOs is all about compared to crowd funding which is about existing business and more common for gambling sites. Maybe when that alone is starting to being exploited, then regulation is possible.
2799  Economy / Exchanges / Re: registring with an exchange on: September 07, 2017, 03:42:46 PM
Last couple of days I've been trying to get my account verified by some exchanges, but this is apparently a very lengthy process (if not a real pia). Is it always like that ?

There are exchanges that would almost snuff life out of you all in the process of verification in which they still come and place some restrictions on your account if some threshold is exceeded or some funny violation of their terms and conditions better still I use exchange sites that are reputable and would not ask for verification, the only one you will do is from Google where you fill a capcha and aside that, nothing else is to be done. Deposit and start trading there are several of them, Visit the service announcement section of the forum.
2800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it technically possible to ban Bitcoin in a particular country? on: September 07, 2017, 02:50:07 PM
Yes it can be possible. The government has the rights to ban whatever they saw that is against in their own means, and sometimes they just don't want something that could threaten them or maybe something they saw that can compete in terms of power, also in order for them to remain in position that no one could oppose them or maybe it could lead that people using bitcoin are rebels as they can see it is illegal, that is only how I see if it would be banned.

Technically yes and would limit although not fully because no matter how they do it, some people who are versatile in the use of IT and internet will always find a way. However, they can cripple it because majority of people can simply not even guess the password of a public wifi not to talk of finding a break through to a website that has been blocked. How they will do it, is to block every website that have any name relating to crypto-currency from being accessed with their satellite and with that a lot of people will be discouraged and then try something else.
