3741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where did this notion come from? on: February 12, 2017, 08:33:36 PM
"Bitcoin is banned in many countries"

I see lots of newer users and even some older, more experienced and knowledgeable users on this forum say it. Where did it come from? If you hand half a brain to read Bitcoin news (coindesk, cryptocoinsnews and news.bitcoin.com are my go tos), you would realise that all recent events regarding governments and Bitcoin are mostly just anti-money-laundering restrictions, not bans against cryptocurrency.

Most times what people engage in is just hear say and sometimes what they just decide upon is just the headline without even going through the content of the news. Another thing which is the most common us the fact that some people are just designed to be carrier of bad news, they are the ones that will predict a crash or a government functionary that have said something against bitcoin but will not report the first bitcoin ATM is Dubai or the adoption in Israel etc.
3742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Investment: risk or benefit? on: February 12, 2017, 08:23:41 PM
-Benefits is you may use that bitcoin to invest in other Bitcoin services and invest bitcoin is safe, profit good
-Risk is that Bitcoin collapses and if countries and government accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin will have tax, your computer can be hacked
What’s your opinion?

Every investment comes with its own risk and bitcoin itself is not an exception but at the same time one needs to understand that risk and benefit works together as the higher the risk, the higher the return so it now boils down to the individual making the investment decision if he is ready for the benefit, then he should be ready for the right amount of the risk attached as such. And I am sure quite a number of people understands that as even keeping btc in your wallet, comes with its own risk.
3743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto can be easily tested on: February 12, 2017, 08:17:52 PM
I am very new to this whole blockchain thing, so correct me if i am wrong, . . but someone claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto could prove it by announcing a specific data transfer from the Satoshi Nakamoto account , (say 768.00987 BTC) and then after announcing such a claim, transfer that exact amount a few days later, . .the data transaction could be monitored for proof of ownership of that account at least. .

Your analogy is true and it could also be fool proof way to determine who Satoshi is really is but at the same time I want you to know that will not be enough proof because that same tx id can be cloned or even used as scam or how do you think those HYIP sites gets their proof if it cannot be created that transactions exist. My own experience I have clicked on a tx id even on this forum and it went straight to a meme. So that can be faulted.
3744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The danger of the cyptocurrencies on: February 12, 2017, 08:27:23 AM
The danger of cryto-currency to me, is what the users are using it for and its that reason that the dangers are being exploited by people who sees bitcoin as a threat to their business. However, this is not to say there are no dangers among which include the fact that its untraceable and this is something to be exploited by money launderers or hackers among others. Another is the issue no body to regulate the activities of users unlike other payment system that regulate and even handle disputes and correct bad behavior with punitive measures among others.
3745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about bitcoin? on: February 12, 2017, 08:21:01 AM
My first hearing about bitcoin was a long while ago. Around 2013/2014 but I really did not give it much attention due to the fact that I had this premonition that everything that have to internet earnings is 90% scam couple with the experience of my friends who did liberty reserve and all the popularity that got as at then. I just zeroed my mind until 2016 when I had more time to really understand what it is about and I am still learning and if I had known I would have taken the chance earlier.
3746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this man addicted to gambling? on: February 11, 2017, 01:19:52 PM
My close friend is 50 years old. He's never been addicted to anything throughout his life. His friend made a poker website and now he keeps playing there a lot. he also uses some free tickets to tournaments he gets from betcoin.ag signature campaign. He plays almost every day for a few hours. And he became more nervous in general. But he doesn't think he's addicted and his argument for that is that he can stop playing for a day or two (that's true) and he doesn't spend his own money on it at all. Would you call such a man addicted?

If I will judge whether someone is addicted to something or not, I will want to know the output of that venture he is currently undertaking, in the case of this your friend if he has been losing and even running into debt then he is definitely addicted to that but since he is not using his own money and maybe he is even winning then I say he is not addicted afterall whether he is working or gambling, the end result is to make money and if he is getting that, then to me that should not be an issue whatsoever.
3747  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is real freedom in your view? Are you getting it? on: February 11, 2017, 01:15:43 PM
Freedom to me is the ability to expand to your maximum and also go to any length to achieve pleasure without infringing on anyones right at the same time within the confines of the law and to the question if I am getting it, I will say currently because right from the comfort of my room, I can access the internet make money and get it deposited in my bank account and from there get to buy what I want without having to look over my shoulder whether I am doing something illegal or not.
3748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why we still gambling while we always lose? on: February 11, 2017, 01:03:09 PM
The right way to put it, is why we lose most times and not why we always lose. I gamble and sometimes I lose some times I win its like everyday life we live. You go to work sometimes and you are happy, nobody get on your nerves, you even receive a commendation but some other times its seems all the whole people at work are all working together against you but will you now quit going to work, no. That is the same thing with gambling and why we all come back even after failing.
3749  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UNESCO declares Islam as the most peaceful religion of the world on: February 11, 2017, 12:59:52 PM
I guess their report is not to be taken literally as they try as to foster more peace in their report and I think its the right thing to do in the face of what is happening all over the world where the moment a Muslim is seen or even people from a particular place of the world then they are terrorist forgetting the Dubai which is the most tourist centre is also a Muslim dominated country. Although, a lot of people might disagree but the report is actually needed at this time of fragile relationship between Islam and other religions.
3750  Economy / Economics / Re: BITCOIN ATM MACHINES on: February 11, 2017, 09:40:55 AM
ATM would be cool, horrible implementation. Too easy for the ATM to record all wallet.dat files, then take people's bitcoins long after they've forgotten about the atm...

In Israel we have a bitcoin ATM.

It's really simple, you just need to:
1. scan your wallet address barcod
2. put in some cash
3. aprove the transaction
4. wait for the transaction to your wallet

I think it should become more and more common everywhere in the world.

Wow, this is so cool and this gives a credence to the fact that bitcoin is here to stay and further diminishing the argument that bitcoin will fizzle out soon by the doom prophets. Over here, we have not developed to that extent as we dont even have a store yet but its going to be cool if we could have some but we will still need to fix our foreign exchange rate first for us to start moving to that phase of development.
3751  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC price should have risen after China froze exchanges on: February 11, 2017, 09:31:54 AM
The supply of circulating BTC is now less, at least for a month or possibly longer. Should not a decrease in available supply increase the price?

From the way I see it, we always streamline our thinking that the determinant of the price of bitcoin whether on the increase or decrease, depends in just one factor but thats not the case most times as there are cumulative amount of other factors that account for such changes in price although there are some that have influence more than the other but that does not remove the fact that there are still other factors even though they might be silent in influencing price.
3752  Economy / Economics / Re: Will you invest in a MLM scam in early stage? on: February 10, 2017, 10:28:31 PM
Determining what the early stage is will be dependent on knowing when the closing date will be because without knowing that, no one can really know when it will end except for the adminstrators. I have seen a site that started scamming after five days and I have seen one that started after one year so for me, I wont bother to invest because any where I keep my money, I should be able to sleep with two eyes closed.
3753  Economy / Economics / Re: Death Is The Price of Imperial Money on: February 10, 2017, 10:20:24 PM
In as much as I dont support US decision in entering any country with the motive of restoring peace or any other reasons they might have as you have rightly stated and at the same time they have been at most times of leaving those countries in more precarious situations that they have been met, whether by conspiracy or their intention, let the active players be the judge. However, before US will enter a particular country to the little I know, they always want to have legitimate reasons for their actions and if they are successful at that, I wont blame them much rather would blame the leaders of such country to give them the chance in the first place and among other reasons will include staying in power for decades, silencing opposition, extra judicial killings, corruption etc among any other factors.
3754  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Even More Countries Mock Trump With Wickedly Funny Parody Videos on: February 10, 2017, 03:13:02 PM
Any other country citizens that mocks Trump is probably a joker simply because the person you are supporting does not care whether you exist, you didnt help to put him there and you dont even decide if he is going to stay there and above all, he is not responsible to you. So its just absolute sheer joblessness to start meddling in the affairs of what does not concerns you. Americans have made their choices and they will be responsible for the consequences of such decision which is their sole right.
3755  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Negative effects of technology on: February 10, 2017, 03:07:49 PM
Technology is not always a good thing.

One example is with the children.
In the old days, children used to play outside with their friends.
Now majority of them are just staring at their iPads.

Thats very true as there is no real connection again and we get to all live fake lives you stay in Africa and have a best friend in Europe that you have not met before whereas you dont speak to the neighbour next door the moment you are with the gadgets and its connected to the internet, then to hell with anybody around. Thats what technology has turned us into to lose the sense of FAMILY is our relationship within the society. Its really a disadvantage.
3756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Efficient way to eradicate corruption on: February 10, 2017, 03:03:43 PM
If a government employee being caught taking bribe or embezzling funds from the budget, even single time, remove presumption of innocence from all his assets (house, land, car, jewelry, bank account etc) and require him to prove source of the income from which he had acquired these assets. If he cannot prove legality of his incomes, confiscate ALL properties belonging to him or transferred to his relatives after investigation started.

For many corruptioners prison time is nothing! After serving few years he can start living like a millionaire having money he stole.

I am happy you said 'if' so which means if I am not caught, I am not corrupt and the government wouldnt have stopped any corruption in the first place even in countries where there is capital punishment for corruption people still engage in it. So they would have done more if the worst that would have happen to them is losing the wealth. The best way is to block the source of the wealth when there is no too much money only few will be available for stealing.
3757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Is Your Worst Moment in Gambling? on: February 10, 2017, 02:54:17 PM
My worst experience was when I was playing on one of the sites we have over here and I had won a sizeable amount instead that I should cash out, I just told myself I could actually win more and moreover what I won, is not my money and if I lose it nothing will happen and I gamble everything. It was when I lost that I realised I had made the bad decision and that I was not actually prepared for what was to come in case I lose since then the lesson has been learned.
3758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: lucky ! does it influences by a woman beside of us? on: February 10, 2017, 02:19:22 PM
If that is the case woman beside us can influence winnings then anything whatsoever can do same, from the cloth we wear when online gambling or to the food we eat while gambling or even to the person we spoke to early in the morning before gambling among other reasons. For all this I say its purely coincidence. Or how can someone win even with several women around when the site has been designed to ensure that everyone that plays at that particular point in time loses.
3759  Economy / Economics / Re: Better adoption through use of mBTC on: February 10, 2017, 02:10:44 PM
From where I stand, using mbtc does not change the perception of people and if one is not careful then it might create more confusion because someone coming into bitcoin thinking the highest is mbtc then go to discover that what he is got is just a fraction of the real deal then he might get discouraged. I think we should still stick to the btc then followed by the explanation that you can get what you can afford. Simple as that.
3760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Starting sports betting on: February 10, 2017, 02:06:10 PM
Sport betting is a cool one to go with as you can easily burst the site in case of cheating as the result will always be universal so the chances of you being scammed is lower compared to other forms of gambling but at the same time its difficult because one will be betting against nature and the team that is the favorite might ended up losing the game aside that your choice might be limited to only the teams you are aware of. And thats my take on sport betting and its my own favorite.
