2881  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit helping BTC on: August 28, 2017, 09:39:25 PM
Litecoin has gone to $64 all the way from $5. Segwit helped it happen. Will things like support for lightning network significantly assist Bitcoin's price?

Let's hope that will happen because when it comes to bitcoin, it seems everything that is expected to work the right way tends to work otherwise and I won't be surprised if the case of SegWit will be any different but at the same time, there is nothing wrong in being optimistic about the scheme of things and hope for the best because at this time, that is the o my thing I see us doing with all the challenges around.
2882  Economy / Speculation / Re: So where exactly are we in the bubble? on: August 28, 2017, 06:45:59 PM
In my opinion, I think bitcoin is gradually growing out of the influence of bubble and burst category because its seems things are just quiet in this past few days even with the increasing price of BCH and the various news concerning how miners are dumping BTC for BCH and all other news on the contrary, bitcoin is still maintaining its position that it becomes so hard know whether its dumping or pumping.
2883  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to convert crypto to Cash? on: August 28, 2017, 05:44:53 PM
This is one of the simplest thing over here but in your own case, a simple Google of bitcoin exchanger in your country of residence will solve the whole issue but you equally need to be careful not to learn from your own experience rather than other people experience and the reason is because a lot of people are around the web looking for who to rob of his coins. Don't get to greedy and anxious as a newbie.
2884  Economy / Economics / Re: How many can resist selling off their BTC for huge profits? on: August 28, 2017, 05:14:24 PM
A lot of people still holding up to this day have actually resist a lot of tempatation of selling that that 'huge profit' simply because of the following reasons

1. Some core guys are sure that when they get greedy and dislodge the whole of what they have, it then destroy everything that has been built if not enough people are involved to mop up the excess.

2. A lot of people are not carried away by that profit of now but the expectation that tomorrow can be better.

3. That great profit is a relative statement while some people have reached their own, others are still longing for it to come.
2885  Economy / Economics / Re: Next "dot-com bubble"? on: August 28, 2017, 04:40:38 PM
Sorry, if this question is asked here before, but i feel that the cryptocurrency "industry" is pretty much like
internet companies back in 1997-2001.Too much optimism and no regulations.
2017 has been an awesome year for all the cryptocurrencies and all the ICOs and more and more people are buying tokens. What do we need for the next big crash?(This question sounds stupid,i know. Grin)
Some big exchange platform hacked,or some major ICO failure?
I don`t want a big crash to happen, but we have to be prepared, anyway.

Things like this are surely bound to happen whether now or in the future and there is really nothing anyone can do about it. On the issue of ICOs, a lot of people will win, while some will equally lose but what I see as an important factor here is to decide which side you want to belong to by evaluating all options correctly before decides which one to go with. In all this, a lot is bound to happen and a new future has been open unto us to decide how we all want to feature in it.
2886  Economy / Economics / Re: When Bitcoin will be taxed, will it still be as in demand as it right now? on: August 28, 2017, 03:59:20 PM
I dont see any reason why bitcoin been taxed is going to reduce the amount of demand that is going to happen in short it will even encourage the massive adoption as well because taxing it means giving it recognition in which will open a new horizon of opportunities that will attract a lot of new people into the crypto space, business will openly accept without the fear of doing anything illegal, there wont be the name calling all around again among other advantages that will come with that tax issue.
2887  Other / Meta / Re: How to combat the surge in scam ICOs on: August 28, 2017, 01:55:56 PM
Huge warning with red and bold text is better idea than ask 1BTC for every ICO thread since scammer could earn more than 1BTC in scam ICO. Ban all ICO thread might works just like when altcoin giveaway is banned from this forum.

This is equally my concern because we have seen several amount of dollars dedicated to such and even hire campaign participants to even be paid more than the average payment by others. Yes it will reduce the amount of people involved in ICOs as it will discourage people who dont have the capital wherewithal to make things happen but at the same time give room for big scammers. Another way to look into it as my suggestions is that if possible before an ICO open, a period of 2 weeks should be allowed for anyone to vet the activities even before launching.
2888  Economy / Economics / Re: Forking Dilemma:The ticking time bomb that will render cryptos untenable... on: August 28, 2017, 09:04:35 AM
I understand the fear of the different versions of currency especially in crypto where the ones available have not been fully exhausted and several are still coming out on a daily basis but not all of them are fighting to be a currency because majority are just stocks of companies running a business just like what we have in the fiat stock market

ICOs are a separate issue, and I get that. But I don't think the OP is off-base here. Let's say, a network continually splits into smaller and smaller networks, each of which continues to use a similar fork of Bitcoin. They are effectively increasing the supply vs. the original network, since new coins are being minted on each fork. Not only that, but each network is exponentially less valuable, since they keep repeatedly splitting in size.

In this context, it would look like cryptocurrencies (and even Bitcoin) were printable, and their value per Metcalfe's Law were failing.

Its really something so appalling that we had to face this challenges at this time and if care is not taken, it then means that the fear of OP will come into fruition because it will then create a high level of confusion in the mind of multinationals in deciding which version of bitcoin they want to adopt and by so doing, we tend to kill this great initiative at that. I hope developers will listen to reason and find another lasting solution rather than forking and creation of several versions.
2889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spam attacks cost money, how much money do these people have? on: August 26, 2017, 05:46:04 PM
It's really frustrating to see this spam attacks each time the community decide to do something that these people are against. If you had to guess or to give an almost accurate number, how much this could cost them? I mean, shouldn't we be worried that this may not end at SegWit2x (regardless whether they fail to activate it or not)? If its nothing much, this could continue to happen and as I believe some of these people are millionaires (e.g Roger Ver), It doesn't look promising

There is nothing frustrating than seeing you go through some challenging moments only for some people to hold several millions in ransom because of their own selfish interest and there is nothing one can do about it and this is one thing Satoshi didn't consider because if he had, he would have put a stop to it and there won't be need for all this back and forth situations.
2890  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make money only with BTC on: August 26, 2017, 05:15:00 PM
For suggesting not to mess with Alts for OP does not mean not to go near it because some alts have shown some high level of appreciation than even bitcoin itself which growth has more or less static. However, it of more importance to always be careful when dealing with any alt as any mistake by buying wrong could mean loss of revenue which could turn out bad for someone who is buying massively.
2891  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: August 26, 2017, 02:44:49 PM
It is a total fallacy that only criminals use Bitcoin and Bitcoin mixers... It is just FUD being spread by "enforcement" agencies concerned that their job is being made harder.

They are attempting to paint Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency as the devil to convince law makers to give them all sorts of extra powers...

The 1% get a bit nervous when the peons find new ways to circumvent their systems (fiat banking) and start to discover ways to cut them out of the loop.

Besides, if everyone is using a mixer, are they going to accuse everyone of being a criminal? We'd all be much "safer" if everyone used anonymizing services... They can't arrest everyone Tongue
This is something a lot of people have some level of understanding and what mixing services should be about. In that for the mere fact of using bitcoin, you are by default wanting to stay anonymous either you using for services or for payment so then I don't see anything wrong in trying to take it further in using mixing services.
2892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WeiMixer - Ethereum Mixing Service on: August 26, 2017, 10:19:59 AM
I have also not seen an ETH mixing services but if this could work out, then its really going to be a massive launch in the crypto space but unfortunately op is not available to answer the valid questions raised here as I expected him to be on ground in answering several curiosity of people interested in this landmark achievement.
2893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Parents disagree with MMO – Make Money Online and Bitcoin ? on: August 26, 2017, 08:09:19 AM
My parent , especially my mom , she always tell me to stop doing bitcoin otherwise i will go to jail or doing bad things to social ! I don't get it ! Old generation seem very lack of experience in Bitcoin ! Why they keep telling us to stop when they even don't know how to check a simple email on ebay ! How to explain them guys ?

Parents generally are skeptical on the things of the internet they prefer you going to the store to earn peanuts than for you stay behind the computer or smart phones to earn something big and its not their fault its because how people with low moral standard have bastardized the cyber space and that's why parents are like that. In my own case, I am not longer staying with them but I am sure if I am they would express the same fear.
2894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: a fee of 67,800 satoshis... dust is expensive ! on: August 26, 2017, 07:38:11 AM
Even though at this time that we all agree that it is no longer suitable for micro payments, but its still something that should not be wished away because quite a number of transactions are borne out of micro transactions and if various updates, upgrade, activations or fork cannot accommodate those micro transactions, then its not living to its full expectations.
2895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin allowed in North Korea ? on: August 26, 2017, 03:28:43 AM
If the level of dictatorship has gotten to this height of not able to access the internet as I have read here, then there really something wrong in NK but I am still yet to see a North Korean comment to tell us the real situation of things over there because its all I have read is "I think". Most countries have not come out to accept bitcoin but at the same time did not regulate the internet and that's why bitcoin still thrives for NK then its a different ball game totally.
2896  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need Advise on buying bitcoins on: August 25, 2017, 08:18:07 PM
In asking for utility bill, they really don't have interest in the name on the card what they want to confirm is the address and determine whether the address on your id card is the same as the one on the utility bill in other to ascertain that you really live there. Looking to buy exchange sites means you will have to use you debit  card which by default carries quite an amount of your details as well. I guess there is no two ways about that.
2897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High transaction fees ! on: August 25, 2017, 07:42:53 PM
Bitmain is deliberately mining empty blocks, while also spamming the network and moving its hash to bcash just to cripple bitcoin. All the current problems are of bitmain's doing. Never forget, bitmain is the enemy.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/antpool-asicboost-share-blame-for-bitcoin-network-delays

This is what happens when mining centralizes and one miner gets too much power.

And this is where the issue is and its not unconnected to the fact mining bitcoin is practically impossible without heavy machines which can only be afforded by few organisations that are only for profit motive and in this case, they tend to use the power of monopoly to derail the development course of things but unfortunately there is nothing anybody can do about it and the developers who could do more are much interested in creating their own version of bitcoin.
2898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: regret by not believing in BITCOIN? on: August 25, 2017, 07:24:08 PM
I don't have any regret whatsoever because I don't know what I would have done if I had know earlier, I am not sure I would still be in the crypto space because of the various challenges that have happened in the past would have discouraged me in even holding forth. But the time I joined was the time I knew I was mentally prepared for it although some rash decisions were taken, but it's still done maturely.
2899  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Now Has a Tool to Unmask Bitcoin Tax Cheats on: August 25, 2017, 05:11:54 PM
I would really want to understand how they intend to pull this off because not all exchange sites are are residence in the US and for an exchange site located in Bolivia will now accept their subpoena which by law is not even binding on them. Aside that, with the abundance of VPNs all over, there is hardly a way I want to see them achieving it and the cost of chasing after few dollars of someone who tries to sell below $1000.
2900  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: whats the best cloud mining website currently on the web ? on: August 25, 2017, 11:03:33 AM
hello folks

I am currently looking for cloud mining website, I know a few but I would like to explore more and know whats on the web and why are they better then others.

here is a few I know :

- genesis mining
-Pool bitcoin
-hashrate24

thnx for the info

A quick look on the forum or a search on Google which will lead to the link on the forum will make you decide which of those options is better but unfortunately I will have to agree with posters above concerning their conclusion on cloud mining because for you to ROI then you will be ready to wait forever because their system is designed in such a way that when you are seeing your income green the charges attached to it will turn it into read which is something that wont stop any time soon.
